The owner is lovely and I can see he has put a lot of effort into his business. The atmosphere is chilled, service is great and so is the food.

Bad vibes and patronising staff. Visited with some mates recently and was disappointed by the staff. They seem depressed and have a bad vibe. A party of 4 we all ordered and my 3 friends food came out a long time after mine. I preempted the thought of just watching them eat and asked the waiter if I could place another small order to be brought out at the same time as my friend’s food. He said he was too busy to take my order and would send someone else over. He then dissapeared behind the bar doing nothing of any consequence. Nobody came to take my additional order for a while. My friends food arrived and my extra order came out around 25 mins after they finished eating. Also one of my friends orders was wrong. Just a disaster. You will find the food comes out at completely different times - so get used to watching people eat and being watched eating!😄 The staff are not attentive, have a bad vibe and seem as miserable as they look. The girl processing our bill was really condescending and patronising.

I took my family here for a meal and was so upset by the attitude of the woman with long blonde hair at the counter. She obviously hates her job and was so rude and abrupt when we arrived and when we paid at the end. I can’t believe the owners of this restaurant can risk losing customers with her at the counter. The food was ok but the whole experience was ruined with such a disrespectful and rude woman on the counter. Never will I go again . I received a reply from the restaurant stating that the “OLD LADY” apologised ! I am not an old lady, and I certainly did NOT apologise. She kept telling me to put my card into the card reader and the reader was saying take card out and swipe . We all could see she was angry, saying loudly, “You keep taking the card out!! You are going to break my machine “. I felt she was totally over reacting and treating us like children. How dare she! Never never will go there again.

The ONLY sushi good restaurant in Swansea (aside from their sister restaurant in Mumbles). Manager Catherine and her staff, Olivia, Madeira and Seren, plus the incredible kitchen staff, make this place feel like you are in downtown Manhattan or Tokyo. The entire experience is geared to, and delivers at, a level so far above the norm that you can't wait to come back for another visit. Once you've eaten here everything else is an also ran!

RUDE RUDE RUDE staff. Terrible customer service. Rude beyond belief. Attended with family and the woman behind bar treated my 80 year old mother awfully when paying the bill. My mum struggled to put her card in to the machine to pay and accidentally put her card in backwards and then fumbled and dropped the machine on the counter. The card machine asked us to swipe the card so I asked the lady how do we do that and was not empathetic at all. She rudely said that my mum could have broken the card machine and shouldn’t have inserted the card into the machine three times (all of which was incorrect and an exaggeration). I told the woman to calm down with her behaviour towards my mum who is partially deaf and couldn’t hear what was going on. Disgusting behaviour - should never be in a customer service role. And in response to the owners comments that she is an ‘excellent duty manager’ - about time you start listening to your customers. I can see it’s not the first time her behaviour has been commented on. Tripadvisor and Facebook all mention a ‘rude waitress’ who speaks down to people as if she is a teacher telling naughty children off. Clearly repeated behaviour which is being allowed to continue. This is not how people should be treated when they go out for some much needed quality time with their family. I never can be bothered to leave reviews - good or bad - but her behaviour was so rude towards my mother I felt compelled to do so!

I've eaten in quite a few sushi restaurants in London and gotta say that Nishimura is up there with the better ones. The presentation of the food is beautiful and all the dishes were fresh and very tasty. To top it off, the staff were lovely and friendly. I will definitely be eating here again. Nishimura is an absolute gem; amazing food in a humble restaurant.

All around best food. We got the beef yakisoba, crab hand roll, the spicy salmon roll, unagi nigiri, and miso soup. Everything was fantastic!

The decor and casual, relaxed vibe is 100% authentic and we love it here. I come back to Mumbles quite regularly and try to visit every time - always book at weekends - can usually walk in mid week. Very, very friendly team and owner - superb food reasonably priced. Delicious - you may not have eaten Japanese before but definitely try it. My elderly Mum had to be convinced to try it and absolutely loved it too. 😘

Been coming to Nishimura for years, and have to say it never disappoints. Realised they changed their location and upgraded into a lovely looking building near the Beach in mumbles and had to come again! The food is always delicious, the staff are very friendly and polite, and the restaurant itself is beautiful and clean. Highly recommend to anybody looking to try Japanese food in Swansea! This is the place to go. 10/10

Found fish bone in salmon sashimi at the most expensive bento, tempura batter mix is too thick and not fried through, the aburi dragon roll is not delicious as before, spent about £52 for two people tbh it doesn’t worth :( table nr 5 at uplands restaurant on 18th June

Surprise find. We are very fond of Japanese food and must say that this ticks our box. Venue is clean, tidy ,light and altogether very nice. Staff excellent. Would highly recommend .

Prawns Bento was ok value for the meal but part of TenDon dish was uncooked with the lotus root tempura while bite it half can see the colour difference and tempura wasn’t that good but not the worst I have eaten, the dipping sauce for the tempura quite sweet and a nice touch with beaten eggs mix in the sauce and I appreciate each ingredient separating instead of plating it together with a nice touch. Still could improve more ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5

Normally enjoy going here for food and service has always been great before but tonight we where greeted with rudeness and attitude by a young female who as we walked in had a confrontation about us parking outside the front door and tried to scare us to say the police or traffic wardens come all the time and will fine you’ which was a bit full on to be honest, I asked if they had an issue with me parking outside and said I would move if so and they just tried to use fear and scare us instead. Scared my 13 year old daughter and made her feel uncomfortable. As we were sat and ordered the female was telling our waitress to hurry up and take our order in an attempt to rush us out as if we weren’t welcome. The waitress came and asked us are we ready to order 3 times within 5 minutes after sitting down. When we asked for the bill, the confrontational female forgot and made us wait. When we went to pay at the till we asked to take the service charge off due to the rudeness of the female staff member. They told us we couldn’t pay in cash and weren’t made aware at the beginning and no signage. They agreed to accept cash eventually but said they couldn’t give us any change due to the bill being £64 and I had £70 in cash. And they wouldn’t let us pay £60 cash and the remaining £4 on card so we wouldn’t be left short without change. Which they eventually did. It was all a bit childish and petty and trying to make things awaked and being funny the entire stay and made to feel unwelcome for parking outside and lied at the end to deceive us saying we couldn’t pay cash and card in order to not lose change was a bit ridiculous. Won’t be back after this.

Food is ok. No where near authentic Japanese but probably catered to local taste. The owner is very friendly and cares a lot about the experience but I would suggest working on getting a good sushi/ramen chef first and foremost. The noodles were over cooked and the ramen broth was bland. Tuna sushi was tuna and mayonnaise in a sushi roll and not the expected raw tuna. Ambiance could be improved to match a Japanese style. It's a little bare to be honest. Service was quick and correct.

TO ALL MUSLIMS! Please be aware before making an order and giving them your money. I got a phone call that my food was made and there was cross contamination eventhough I specified Halal diet. Then I requested cancellation and a refund but got signed posted here and there and then was told someone will contact me with further details. To only find they blocked my number and still delivered the cross contaminated food. I have ordered here before but never found the service to be this bad and to be blocked. This experience made me feel really degrading and under valued. So don't recommend to fellow MUSLIMS.

it was only a little late, but the app was showing 'food delivered' and we didn't receive the food for another 10 minutes. the food was colder but tasty. very nicely presented.

Went on a Friday night and took on the all you can eat deal. Ideal if you often go to Japanese/sushi restaurants and can't decide what to get! Excellent selection and the food was exceptional. The highlight was the chashu pork. So good my wife had it twice! The staff were very friendly and attentive, especially as it got busier, and the atmosphere and decor were fantastic.

Had it not been for recommendation not sure would have gone in as agree with other reviews outside makes it look cheap. Lost a star for this. Being on my own tried to shove me in a corner despite not being busy. When wanted the A.u.c.e menu the lovely manager offered to move me to bigger table. Great selection on offer, the sashimi was fresh and v tasty. Wakame salad small but tasty, pickled veg huge portion. Takoyaki balls didn’t taste freshly made and one was like a bullet. Manager brought me fresh new set even though didn’t ask, gets extra points for that. Soft shell crab salad was delicious although way too much iceberg lettuce (made it cheap) not needed. Overall great food and great experience, highly recommend and I will go back.. the bento boxes looked great. Great price at £30 a.u.c.e deffo value for money. Manager couldn’t do enough for you and others, she deserves ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We ordered at 6.20. I was given a delivery time of between 7.10 and 7.30. The food arrived at 7.50. The delivery driver was lovely, very polite, and I know he had to come from Mumbles to Uplands. But it was still later than expected and we were ravenous. The quality of the food was excellent. It’s not a cheap place to order from but the food is always delicious, well presented and very satisfying. We eat here about once a month as a treat. This time we decided to order take out. We went or a meal at Nishimura restaurant in mumbles .. we looked at the menu prior to going as we are both Vegan .. when we got there and ordered we were asked if we were strict vegans - we said yes why ? .. we were told that pretty much all the fried vegan options in the menu are actually cooked in the same oil as all the meats and prawns .. these items should definitely not be marked as Vegan (vg) !! I explained this to them and they were sorry but said ‘ it’s Saturday night so we are really busy’ ! .. we were shocked to say the least and really disappointed- we ordered just noodles with veg and un fried tofu …. The server came back and said she had asked the manager and they would put a wok of fresh oil on for the vegan stuff apart from one thing .. so we were happy .. then our main meals came and the katsu pumpkin curry came with the curry sauce separate… server said sorry but the carrot and potatoes in this curry were also fried with the meat !! .. we ended up with another sauce we hadn’t ordered .. nothing was taken off the bill and I didn’t have the energy to argue any more at this Point so we just paid it … I will ring up on Monday to speak with management .. I hate to put bad reviews on for anyone as I’ve run a food business myself but vegan marked VG. means ‘ not cooking in the same oil as meat and fish !’ I explained to them that it could be marked’ plant based (PB) in these instances.. We don’t eat meat or fish not do we want to eat ‘bits of it in the oil !’ .. I’m a bit shocked to be honest that they didn’t know this . If you are vegan please be careful here . The food we had was quite nice but not good value - it was really expensive for what we ended up having … very disappointed

Okay, so we went on a Saturday after they launched the all you can eat/buffet. It was heaving. We booked a table for 4 for 7:30, and we didnt actually get our table until 8:30. We didn't have our first course until 9. The waitresses were run off their feet, the manager was dealing with complaints left right and centre. That being said, the staff were all AMAZING. They couldn't do enough for us and we're genuinely so apologetic. When we finally got the food it was absolutely INCREDIBLE. All the stress we had beforehand was worth it. The owner said himself they were not expecting such a high volume of people and they would take it as a learning curve. I would 100% go again and will be recommending this place to everyone.

It was ok a bit noisy as we were all packed on one side of the room, there were 2 tables of lads no trouble but when right behind had to shout to be heard, it would have been better to use the other half of the room for couples, singles, families, etc, but it was ok ...would I go again ..maybe

Nice food with pleasant table service let down when I was paying; the cashier/manager? took no notice of what I had actually ordered and had to eat. To save hassle, I paid more for food I didn't have. They clearly made a mistake by charging someone else less. I knew what was ordered in that 3 of us in the group, sitting very close to each other, had similar main courses but I had the veggie version. I ended up paying for meat. No big deal really, but his attitude/approach was not what I would expect or hope for. To put it in context, it was a work Xmas meal and we all paid individually for what we ordered. The place itself is canteen like, with little soft furnishing.

Veggie options a little bland, there’s so many more options you can put in a platter of sushi. However, the 4/5 score is because my son LOVED his food and they kindly put a note in with some chocolate Christmas lollipops. I would order again but choose some different dishes.

So disappointed with the food. The sauces were not fresh and tasted bland as if out of jars. The stock in the ramen soup , tasted like watery soy sauce devoid of depth of flavour and real stock. This isn’t really cooking , it’s just assembling a few ingredients on a plate.The main salad dish , shockingly consisted of chopped up iceberg lettuce, tinned sweetcorn and a few spinach leaves . No dressing . No nothing . Exactly what we could have picked up in the coop for a fraction of the price . The service was great . Friendly young staff . We will not be returning .

Food was ok but presentation was weak compared to other sushi houses I have visited worldwide. Sushi stall in Swansea market is a much better value for money and pretty good sushi.

Some of the best food I've ever eaten to go along with the elegant decor inside. Service is quick and friendly, will always be a regular here! (Would 100% recommend the Gyoza)

Me and my sister stopped off here on Monday night out of the blue. I didnt know what to expect but I was grateful that we did stop because the food was amazing, the broth in the katsu pork udon noodle soup was fresh and complex. We had tempura king prawns, the tempura wanted for nothing, it was spot on. All of the dipping sauces were delicious, one of my favourite bites was the grilled eel nigiri. I left my phone in the restaurant which was kindly posted back to me in Bath after having driven back home not realising. Definitely worth visiting and I intend on coming back

Salmon sashimi and fish rolls were off

I arrived there with a group of 7 people, We was greeted by young girl who took us to the table. Its was quiet as we arrived at 6pm. They took the drinks order. We was never asked if we have any food allergies. Something that needs to be addressed! We ordered £160 worth of sushi and hot meals. The Raw sushi was disgusting. The Nigiri was not hand made at all it was appalling presentation and also some of the food was presented with plastics flowers within the food bowl which is not hygienic at all! The Rice was really disappointing and it was not fresh, no flavoured as sushi should be a vinegary rice! We returned one of the items due to having smelt like it has not stored correctly and left exposed for too long. Some of the cooked meals was not hot! The service was Shocking! No apologies on the service we received! Absolute shambles of a restaurant! ++ I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO GO TO THIS PLACE - AVOID AT ALL COST ++

One of the best restaurants in Swansea - we used to go when in Brynmill but the upgrade to mumbles is great, they've got a much bigger space and it's really well run. Was easy to reserve a table for Friday night online, we were seated quickly and our food after ordering came very promptly. Highlights - curry chicken udon noodles and tempura prawn sushi. Would 100% recommend, it's just delicious !

Amazing selection and excellent quality. Outside of London this is the only place I've ever found Japanese pickles and takoyaki in Britain.

Awful brightly-lit restaurant. Started mopping the floor under our table whilst we were still eating!!!! Dreadful service . Don’t take restaurant bookings for 8.30pm if you want everyone out by 9.30!!! Like a cheap diner, def not a place to have a nice dining experience! Should just stick to takeaways!

I had lunch here today and I am very disappointed with the food. We ordered some nigri, salad and Aburi. As I had many Aburi before, it usually present as a large nigri with flame seared fish meet. But the salmon belly Aburi we got is definitely has no flame seared fish and more like Sushil roll. I did confirm with the lady and yes, this is sushi roll is their version of Aburi. I am disappointed and would not recommend anyone who loves Japanese food.

Food was absolutely beautiful.

Had high hopes but sadly did disappoint. The wakame seaweed salad came still partly frozen/icey… (I know they buy it frozen and I’m okay with that but would expect it to be thawed before it’s served). I did complain and they gave us a free coke each to apologise, although I’d have rathered it was just taken off the bill. The octopus balls to start, and the sushi we had, were nice, but sadly the ramen was not. We both had the ‘Kimuchi’ (Kimchi and beef) ramen and the beef was tasteless, grey and slimey… the broth wasn’t particularly tasty either. I don’t know if maybe they need to limit the menu? It seems they are trying to do too many things, which lets the standard down. Shame!

My wife and I had food there Saturday evening, we had two starters and two main meals, the food was delicious and very filling. The food arrived quickly and was freshly prepared. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. We will definitely be going back again.

From the outside it looks like a cheap takeaway place, but once you step inside it's quite elegant. The restaurant was quite packed with people waiting for tables, so probably booking is recommended. Food was nice, though I found the tuna rolls somewhat bland; portions are quite large. I ordered green tea and expected a small pot; instead I got one teabag of genmaicha, which was a bit disappointing, so next time I'll just order something else.

We went a couple of weeks ago. The atmosphere, how the place was laid out was tastefully done. The food however was really poor. I had to send my starter (takoyaki) back as it was stone cold, the octopus inside was still frozen. The replacement starter came back after I had finished the main course and only after I had reached out to the waiters asking where it was. Generally the food wasn't particularly tasty and we have been to better Japanese style restaurants in the UK. Service could have been better - I think it's disgraceful they charged me for the takoyaki.

Friendly staff and very nice food.

My first Japanese experience really made a good impression. For what I received it was a really reasonable price. Absolutely delicious. We had the vegetarian bento box which gives a little of everything, a hug in a bowl of vegetable ramen and the chicken yaki soba, as well as shared a portion of Uramaki. 🤤

I had an absolutely amazing time at Nishimura, here's why: One of the reasons why I love it so much is because it feels authentic! The plates had beautiful designs on them and the food felt like it was straight from Japan! We had the Tokyo platter, salmon and tuna bento, octopus pancake balls, and the mochi ice cream for dessert! All the food was amazing quality and the sushi was the best I have ever eaten in my life. There even was a tiny little working umbrella on one of the mochi balls! We also got a bit of free candy on our way out, I think it was mochi too! The food was so good that it was one of the best meals of my life. I highly recommend going to Nishimura.

We had a great meal. The place is spotless, the staff very friendly and the food was yummy. Perfect for families with children or couples. Would highly recommend it.

My comments today are solely based on my experience but could very well be very different if visited on another day. It was a very busy evening. We were accommodated, as a party of 5, without a reservation quite quickly. The orders for drinks were taken soon after seated and then the starters. We needed more time for the mains which was okay with the waiting staff. The staff were predominantly young ladies, pleasant and friendly. The food was good, the portion sizes were generous enough that we left some. The downsides for me, as a person that eats nothing from the sea or red meat, was the menu was limited. Yes, I understand it is a Japanese restaurant, we went as a birthday dinner for someone that adores it. The noise from everyone in a small area was overwhelming, but I'm sure it's a much nicer ambience when it's not a busy Saturday evening. Overall, quite lovely, but I won't return unless with the same person that loves it.

First time visit. Keen attentive staff and explained the food. I had the chicken katsu curry as main course. Fabulous. Good value too. No parking nearby is the only issue for me.

Order Nishimura Bento but got a leak sauce from beef teriyaki as there a hole at the container slot where beef teriyaki been put and no sauce for chicken katsu so overall are good with bentos. Chicken Yaki udon quite greasy and last time order chasiew ramen came with no soup base for the ramen and no sauces for prawns bento either the driver forgot to pick it up or restaurant forgot to put some, Nishimura need to keep it together before falling off. Please improve, Thanks

Visited while on holiday and we were very impressed. We were greeted at the door by a lovely man (possibly the manager?) who found us a table very quickly even though they were busy and we hadn't booked. We were served quickly and efficiently. The food was absolutely delicious and generous. The pricing is very reasonable for the quality of the establishment. We had 2 drinks, 2 starters and 2 mains and it came to £42. The place has a really good atmosphere with great decor (we loved the little flags on the tables) it is also super clean. Highly recommend a visit if you're in the area!

Fantastic service from Frank who went above and beyond to assist my elderly father.

We were really underwhelmed and disappointed. We asked the waiter for ordering advice as we wanted to try a bit of everything. He gave us zero recommendations. My friend ordered the £25 bento box as it had a bit of everything, and I ordered the £18 CHIRASHI DON without squid or Octopus. There was nothing wrong with it, but we didn't feel they were worth the money. Underwhelmed is the overall experience. The general atmosphere was flat. The female waitress was friendly, n there is a little plate of sweets where u pay, which are yummy! Maybe we ordered the wrong thing n ate at the wrong time? I left unimpressed, unfortunately.

Beautiful food! Staff couldn't do enough to help us, they were lovely and went above and beyond. The food was delicious, so tasty and full of flavour. Highly recommended eat in and takeaway from here!
