Had a brilliant time for our annual family Christmas Eve meal, food was brilliant as always and we even got a Christmas treat off the lovely waitress Sam and waiter Isaac (hoping I’ve got his name correct) with them singing us Christmas songs, never disappoints always a lovely meal too❤️

We went for a family dinner yesterday as always very busy which you expect from a good eating place.A bit of a wait for food but all meals came together and we're as usual well prepared and staff as always pleasant, a special mention for Kursten who kept us up to date on how our meals were doing when they were busy and that extra attention to our needs makes a big difference.We will be back soon for another excellent meal.

Just like to say a big thank you to Patrick and the team. We came today for my mums wake and you did her proud. The Pie was amazing and everyone came to us saying how fantastic it was. The puddings didn’t go a miss either. Thank you for looking after us x

Service was incredibly, food was great…. tasted amazing. I’ve dropped a star because I got the “Cock and Bull” and it describes chicken and “beef fillet” strips. Like I said, the food was great but if that was beef fillet they should sue the butcher.

They were quite busy serving Christmas dinners but the food or the service didn't suffer at all. The staff were exceptional - calm, efficient and very friendly. Altogether a very enjoyable experience - I was impressed.

This place never fails to impress me. Such a lovely place with a relaxing atmosphere yet a cut above everywhere else. The service is first class. Nothing is ever too much trouble. The staff are well trained, friendly and attentive. The menu offers something for everyone and the food is amazing. I've been here on several occasions and have never been disappointed. I am so lucky to have this place on my doorstep. You can keep your Michelin star restaurants. Nothing beats the New Waggoners.

My wife is gluten AND lactose intolerant so it's always hard to find somewhere that she can eat safely and find something that suits her taste. All of the staff were very friendly and fairly knowledgeable about what she could and couldn't have but Patrick was absolutely brilliant. We were only in the area for a wedding the following day, we wish we were nearer! The 'normal' fish and chips I had was also the best I've had, so fresh and perfect batter.

Had an excellent lunch today the lamb dinner was beautiful , lovely waitresses and staff and excellent wine

staff are excellent and the service great but the food is average and for the price it needs to be wow the beer is expensive the place was far far far to warm ,portions are a good size but the money your paying frozen chips really ,steak more expensive then a top restaurant in the lake district would say it ok but there are better cheaper places elsewhere

Way too expensive for a local family pub. Food is nice , but portions compared to prices are small . Average main price is around £18 and that includes a roast dinner without mash and instead you get 4 tin sized new potatoes and 2 tiny roasts . If you want cauli cheese , it's an extra £3.75! A ridiculous £7.35 for a child's meal that does not even include a drink, let alone a dessert . They even charged an extra 85p for some cheese to add to the children's pasta Bolognese 😭. Service was good however the dining room was small , over crowded and extremely noisy and got too hot when full . 4 adults with a starter and main each, 2 kids meals and drinks came to just over £162 🥵.

Rang 20 minutes before we arrived at 6.30pm for a table for 5. Atmosphere was very warm and friendly. Staff took order quickly for drinks. Lots of menu choice for food and desserts. Food was hot, well presented and a generous portion. The meal was very tasty. Was busy when we arrived. Staff worked well under pressure, very friendly. Well Done to all the staff and especially the chefs. Will visit again. Keep up the good work 👏.

Lovely as usual. The food is always good here and the kids are well looked after to. It's quite big now after the extension but it's always very busy so book before you go. Well worth a visit it's wonderful.

Wonderful staff. The food is great and they take really good care of your preferences and allergies. The menu is extensive with something for even the pickiest of tastes in our party and the atmosphere and wonderful views just finished off a great experience. Definitely recommend and we’ll definitely be going back soon.

Food amazing but you need to take out a mortgage to afford the drinks

This place is a joke, the food is never fresh maybe besides the fish. The standard of quality for most dishes at this establishment is woeful, chefs who consistently get things wrong. Front of house staff who mess up orders and are clearly under a lot of stress from a deadbeat set of managers, some of which are very sly and dodgy people. The layout of the resturaunt is appalling, seriously a door that swings out from the kitchen that has hit many a customer and staff member alike. From walking past the kitchen I have heard some disgusting remarks from the managers which would come across as harassment. I will commend the portion sizes, for what you pay for you get a lot of food and some of the food is genuinely really good, the fish options are almost always spot on for example. Wait times are beyond inconsistent. The large room to the right when you enter is very depressing and bland, akin to a nursing home almost whilst the other room to the left when you enter is rather small but is quite cozy. The bar area is also not nice, a cramped section where people block each other's path whether it's a guest or worker. The outside patio is lovely on a summer's day when I'm out for a walk with the dog or a nice jog. The alcohol prices are quite egregious too. £5.20 for a lager? That would make sense in a bar in a city like Manchester, not in a pub that is barely considered in Burnley. The selection of moorhouses real ales are often times quite lovely but that's the only real positive I can give, the prices are too much for what they are. The service is sub-par too, the manager clearly hires a lot of inexperienced teenagers (some of which who don't even look old enough to legally work mind you) who aren't suited for the job whatsoever. As well as the lack of experience in the waiting on staff, some of the staff are simply too old to be doing what they are doing, a poor old man who clearly enjoys working there taking a very long time to deliver drinks to a table during busy hours. This old man has also said to a black man "you must be a basketball player" which can obviously be misconstrued. I also can see that these younger members of staff are quite burnt out, rather miserable looking or just sick of the job. Whether they're just miserable teenagers or are being treated unfairly who knows, but a lot of the younger ones seem to be fed up. I see them working on the floor, taking orders and waiting on tables, to delivering the food to the tables, to working behind the bar and even making coffees, surely this is a lot for young people who are likely already going through a lot with education. Lastly the location, obviously this can't be improved because they can't just pick up and relocate but it is a struggle to get to, practically in the middle of nowhere on a rather hectic road that joins up Burnley and Rossendale. If you're coming from Burnley then there are either better options in the town or another 10-15 minutes will take you into Rawtenstall which has some far superior options to dine out. Even if you are coming from Burnley if you go the other way up to Clitheroe you can find Calf's Head, where you will get the exact same stuff but with a better atmosphere, location and staff. I really hope some drastic changes happen to this place as I have also heard some frankly disgusting stuff about this establishment and some of the older workers who work there.

Stumbled across this beautiful pub/ restaurant on a day out. Had an excellent lunch served by very friendly staff in a picturesque setting. Enjoyed it very much.

The fabulous home cooked quality food is just spot on every time and the staff are very accommodating even when we rock up without a reservation. 5 stars all the way from me. Food excellent, shredded duck with wraps as a starter excellent, salmon fillet in prawn sauce, baby potato and veg delicious, gammon steak with egg and pineapple succulent and tasty, fish and chips yummy. Super friendly staff, clean, welcoming restaurant, plenty of parking. Best place for any celebration, gorgeous views.

Was quite disappointed on this visit as I have been previously and really enjoyed the food and service, we had booked a table for 7pm , had to wait to be seated , had our orders taken 15 mins later another group sat at the side of us placed and order, they got served half of our tables order ? So we had to wait longer for our order 🙄, food wasn't too great and the mixed grill at nearly 30 quid a pop wasn't worth it. Service was good though 👌

Average and overpriced pub food

Went last night with visiting relatives from Canada. They were completely ‘blown away’ with the quality of the food, drink and ambience. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Conversations could be had without shouting. Add onto that the more than reasonable prices. Recommend 100%

If you enjoy reasonably large portions and a good selection, then you will enjoy The Waggoners.

Very good pub restaurant, wide variety of options for starters, mains and deserts. Quite busy for a Monday in late February. Well looked after by attentive but not over the top staff. A nice beer selection to start then we had brie and the black pudding starters, hot pot and trio of fish mains an ice cream desert. Quality food, well cooked, plenty of taste, defo recommended for very good pub food

My husband had his 70th small party at the waggoners. It was a fantastic buffet, the best we have ever been to. We travelled over from the wyre and it was well worth the trip. Hope to return soon. Big thanks to all the staff who were amazing. Thank you all

Excellent find after a walk round the reservoir. Large car park. Amazing place for food we never even knew existed. Brilliant service, place was really busy (good sign) but they found us a quiet table no problem . Great home cooked food like from years ago, big portions - nothing not to like - highly recommend. My Family took me here today as a Birthday Treat, 11.2.2024 I had never been here before, but I can honestly say that I was more than impressed by the experience, The Steak dish with Peppercorn sauce was really tasty and cooked to perfection, I followed the meal with traditional jam rolly and custard, a real treat and a taste from my childhood, prices are reasonable and would definitely recommend, we will most certainly go again

Very nice food, pleased to get a decent portion of mushy peas with my fish & chips. I ordered a medium fish but portion was way too big. Saw lots of plates heading back to the kitchen unfinished. Cut portion sizes, stop wasting food.

Attend today as a table of four, one of us had a dairy allergy. I have never seen such an inclusive menu, with an abundance of options to choose from. The staff were absolutely fantastic, welcoming and attentive. Will definitely be returning.
