My first visit at the weekend, a beautiful sunny Sunday. I chose this cafe after a good walk around Penrith due to its popularity and the meals I could see served to those in the outdoor area. The café was clean with welcoming, attentive staff. I started with a glass of water whilst deciding what to eat. There's an extensive choice of hot and cold meals across the menu and specials board. There's also a good choice of beverages and desserts. I opted for the tuna and cheese ciabatta with Earl Grey tea, followed by a slice of Peppermint Crunch.

We visited this lovely cafe for lunch on Wednesday. We didn't have to waiit too long for the food and it was hot and delicious on arrival. Fresh tasty salad and coleslaw was served with my sausage sandwich and it was so good. The customer service was good to as the stuff were very accommodating. I will definitely recommend and visit again👌

Called in on the way through Penrith. Really nice, clean cafe with a good feel to it. Only had hot drinks but they were decent quality and the staff all pleasant and attentive.

Busy venue and it's easy to see why. Great food and drinks at fair prices pull in the crowds. Would thoroughly recommend.

My first time in Penrith, and I was looking for a nice place to have lunch. Was so glad I chose this little café! It's located in a narrow pedestrianised shopping street in the centre of town. Bright, nicely decorated and very clean, with comfy chairs and little vases of flowers on the tables. Dog friendly. There's a clean accessible downstairs toilet, and plenty of seating for those who prefer to eat outside. The café seemed very popular with the locals, which is always a good recommendation! It was busy when I arrived, but the friendly staff made me feel really welcome, and I only had to wait a few minutes for my lunch. They have a very extensive menu with options ranging from breakfasts, sandwiches and jacket potatoes, to grilled meat dishes and traditional cooked lunches. There are vegetarian and vegan options, and a children's menu. I chose one of the day's specials: a bacon, mushroom and cheese omelette with chunky chips, salad and homemade coleslaw. The omelette and chips were well cooked and piping hot, the salad was fresh, and the portions were large. Good strong pot of tea. What's more, the price was very reasonable given the excellent quality of the meal. The cakes displayed on the counter looked delicious! Would certainly come here for lunch again!

We sat outside with our dogs. Service was quick and friendly. We only had coffee, but it was the nicest coffee we have had for whole of our holiday.

A hidden gem. Saw some good reviews so we thought we would try them. Absolutely marvellous. Never had lamb hot pot as a starter, but I am glad I did. The choice of food and wines was excellent and my steak was cooked to perfection. Next time in Penrith we will go back, Thoroughly recommended.

Nice cafe in New Squares Penrith. Had the vegetable soup with granary bread. Soup was hot and bread was fresh. Could not fault it.

Coffee wasn't good Tea ok Grill burger turned out to be not on the bum but just meat, sausage, mushrooms, peas. Beef meat wasn't cooked enough taste like a shoe really. Apple pie with custard below on the photo.. Food wasn't good at all. Really nice service, that's OK but rest..... Schocked with so good reviews..

Lovely (and huge) dish full of goodness! Had and Cheese omelette with a pile of chips, tasty coleslaw and salad! All of it was great! And great value! So much better than fancy brunch places which will charge twice the cost for half the food! Thoroughly recommend!

Was an amazing breakfast. That good we went 2 days In a row. It was busy but that's a good sign of what was to come , highly recommend.

During our holiday, we have eaten here on 3 occasions. I have had a different breakfast every time and have not been disappointed at all. Everything is fresh and yummy. Not greasy at all. A perfect start to a packed day. The staff are the perfect level of attentive, they give service with a smile, always, which adds to the relaxed chilled atmosphere. Highly recommended.

I went for a meal in the new square cafe in Penrith today bought a ham omelette salad and chips and the omelette was so greasy so I at to leave half of it and my meal come to £11.00 with a can of coke so I want be going there anymore

What a find!! Very friendly and helpful staff, great food choice at what I can only describe as extremely reasonable prices! Portions are great, served nice and hot! Tea for one gives you 3 cups from the pot! Table service is prompt and friendly too. Sounds a bit gushing?? And so it should. Good food well served. Toilets clean with nice soaps. I can't be in Penrith without calling in here! Another great thing too is it's situated close to the shopping areas, win win. Hope they stay just as they are, would be a tragedy to lose a proper, true style cafe/eaterie like the new square cafe! Good job I live 70 miles away because at their prices and quality I'd be in every day🤣.

Was up from Kent at the weekend and called in here for a full english. No problems with the dog being with me which is a bonus, amazing food, very polite service. One of the best fry ups I’ve had anywhere in the UK. 100% would recommend

What a cracking find this cafe was! 60 miles from home and hungry. Called in here on the off chance and found a table. The menu was extensive, very reasonably priced and the food is amazing! Very generous size portions! I ordered the special omelette... Amazing! Came with home cooked chips, salad, coleslaw and a mountain of cheese! What a pity its 60 miles away. I can't rate this little cafe high enough! And by the way, the staff are very tentative and polite and waited no more than 10 minutes for the food. Brilliant! I've just noticed a food hygiene rating of 2 online but I'm sure this incorrect. I saw a 5 star rating in your window. Still, it all looked spotless to me.

Nice little Cafe on the backstreets of Penrith. We came across it by chance. Clean and tidy inside and the food was really nice. We just had soup and a sandwich and it was good. Prices seemed pretty standard.

We really enjoyed our moussaka today. It was well cooked, full of vegetables and very tasty. Friendly staff and customers too.

Food was okay, not th3 best, I had a shephards pie and it was clear it had be3n microwaved to be heated up again, the veggies were basic too, we also had a chicken tikka wrap which was dry and had no sauces or salad in it even though we specifically requested it like that, the furnishing was relatively rundown, staff was friendly and helpful though

Had cod chips and peas you could have put the fish on the sole of your shoe it was so over cooked. Couldn't eat it sent it back and they charged £3.50. Also ordered a prawn sandwich they were shrimps no taste. I will never go back

Visited for a late lunch on Saturday. Ordered a healthy all day breakfast and what a nice surprise - got a green tea for free.👍there is a outdoor seating area, it can get busy, a lot of different options on the menu, they also served cakes here.

Came here today.. Fantastic little venue, friendly staff, extensive menu that is competitively priced. With such varied choice, I was unsure what to order lol. I decided on the Full English and wasn't disappointed. Good quality sausage and bacon, food exceptionally tasty and fresh. The Breakfast here is miles better, compared to Cranstons or Booths. I didn’t have room for a cake after that plateful. My wife had baguette, which came with a lovely fresh salad and homemade coleslaw. We will definitely come here again. I Highly recommend this venue. The restaurant and toilets were very clean. Hand gel at the enterence and till. Could see the catering staff in the kitchen, kitchen looked spottless and clean. This is no greasy spoon venue, it's restaurant quality food at café prices.
