We always got our takeaway from the New Mandarin when they were in Shenley and always thought they were the best, then they had the fire and closed , we tried several other takeaways and then found the New Mandarin were at the Countryman Pub in New Bradwell and went there, the first time back well before Xmas was fine, but we went yesterday (for a takeaway) 10/2/2024 we had half a duck the portion looking much smaller than it used to be, but as it happened it was supposed to feed 2 but when i saw the green on some of the pieces of duck i did not want to eat it, my partner who has no sense of taste or smell picked out the green bits and ate his half of the portion, luckily he has not been ill but i have lots of digestive problems and i think i would have had a reaction. I am posting a phot to show the green bits picked out. As it was Chinese New Year there were a lot of Chinese dining there i bet they didn't have green meet, also since Covid the prices of a lot of things have nearly doubled whilst the portions are smaller.

The reviews for this takeaway vary and here is the reason why. We stayed 2 nights in Milton Keynes recently. On the first night we had a brilliant takeaway meal, hot and very tasty. It was so good, rather than shop around we returned on the second night. Oh dear what a mistake. We paid for a large portion of boiled rice but when we opened the bag they had supplied a small portion. The food was nowhere near as good as the first night. We assume it depends on which staff are working that night as to what you get. So beware. We do not recommend this takeaway.

Decided to use New Mandarin rather than usual Chinese I wish never had done so, ordered Kung Pao Chicken and the it was just chicken sauce and an absolute shed load of bamboo shoots no vegetables like the usual peppers or onion! I wanted vegetarian Singapore noodles and received SPECIAL with all the meat (dish was for my girlfriend who is veggie) which I clearly specified. Staff was rude when I collected the meal and also when I went to change the meat noodle dish. Will not be using these again. Very disappointed.

Whilst this isn’t the best Chinese restaurant in the world, and perhaps not even in MK, it’s really good and we are regular visitors. Never had a bad meal, everything seems fresh and it’s always very tasty. Our latest visit was early Jan ‘22 and we tried one of the set menus (may be new, not noticed these before), which was very good. I’ve only ever eaten in, but they seem to do a great takeaway trade - would be great to see the restaurant buzzing again in 2022!

Just got home after celebrating my 70th birthday with friends and family (14) The food was excellent and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful and made it a great night for me. At last we are getting back to “normal” More food than we could eat and excellent value for money. So a big Thank You from us all and a genuine recommendation to anyone thinking about a similar celebration to consider this establishment.

New Mandarin has been our regular takeaway since 2010! The food is always delicious and the staff friendly. Would recommend.

Went to New Mandarin MK, for 5 adults one child buffet. So good I didnt have time to take photos. We just ate!!! Yum yum! Buffet Food was served hot and fresh to order! Good portion size for minimal waste if you couldnt finish it! Had crispy duck, ribs, sesame toast, salt&pepper chicken wings and squid, soups. Just loads of choices! Ordered more food, just tasty! Service was quick even though there were takeout orders and other tables seated for the buffet. Staff attentive and clear plate straight away! Shame buffet will finish before December. So go on down before it ends!! £20PP.

The New Mandarin offers a great variety of choice of foods cooked fresh. Their buffet meals are good value with the choice of everything on the menu to try and their take away service is prompt with food always cooked well and hot

Enjoyed a very tasty meal tonight, the atmosphere was relaxed and all safety measures were taken on arrival with temperature checks and hand sanitiser. We had soup, starters, duck and mains - all were delicious, piping hot and made fresh to order. The service was brilliant and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend and will definitely be returning!

We had a sit down Silver Menu and the food and service were excellent: the dishes arrived quickly and were hot and delicious. There was sanitiser and a temperature check when we arrived and the waitress wore a facemark, so we felt pretty safe. Highly recommended.

Ordered food for takeaway 2 x chicken chow main. 1 x crispy duck and pork salted ribs. £29.60 the worst food I have ever tasted from this or any take away restaurant. The crispy duck was shredded to an unbelievable small size and so dry. The chow main noodles were the smallest and tiniest iv ever seen or had. The ribs were dry and so salty I had to throw them in the bin. Absolutely disgusting 🤢 I will never use this place again. A complete waste of money.

I always enjoy the food from this restaurant and the service is always friendly and prompt. They have a proper restaurant but the ‘take away’ service is always busy and popular which must be a good sign.

I was going there to eat some sweet and sour chicken and the waitress sat me down at the table and I ordered the sweet and sour chicken but I noticed something off there was a human eye in my food!! Like what the hell just happened suddenly some guy dressed in a black song dynasty outfit called minamoto came up to me and sweared to me in Chinese and then he took his sword out and stabbed a baby and he was laughing madly he eat the baby because it was a yayoi then I ran out.

Menu £21 for any choice of the menu what ever you order which is I think good value, and fair. This part of the evening was good! However a for bottle of £3.99 Echo falls Zinfandel I got charged £20 then they had the audacity to add a £4.70 service charge I was in a party of 7 and the card machine was not working so we all had to pay cash and we all had separate bills, all of us were really not happy with this “SERVICE CHARGE “ which we were told was not optional. WE WILL NOT GO BACK and will never recommend again

Two of us attended with a friend (who had eaten here before), for the all you can eat menu on a Wednesday evening.The restaurant was very clean and we were greeted with a smile.The food was absolutely fantastic and was very tasty!This combined with excellent service made for what was a great evening:)We will definitely be back for more!

Our daughter is GF and we struggle to find Chinese food which she loved before being diagnosed. We have now eaten here twice in the last 2 months and thoroughly enjoy the banquet. The staff are friendly and always advise what is and what isn't suitable. We will return.

Hadn't been to this restaurant for a good while; it had been one of our regular haunts, but then the kids arrived.... However they're old enough to appreciate it now, so ventured back with a group of us (12) for a last minute meal out. After reading some of the reviews I did go with a little apprehension, but I can only imagine those reviews were for a different restaurant..(or different management?) as our experience couldn't have been much better. Staff were great; attentive to the right degree, and great with the kids. Food was tasty and came out in a reassuring amount of time (not too quick or too slow) and they were happy to adjust the orders slightly to meet our requests (e.g. No veggie chow mein on the buffet menu, but they were happy to do this for us) The decor is simple but stylish, and the facilities were immaculate and clean (a rare thing we tend to find..) Overall a very positive experience and sure we'll be heading back again soon.

After asking around for a chinese buffet New Mandarin was reccomend several times. We had amazing food, amazing service, staff are so attentive and polite. We will definatly be returning!

Good food, but beware the compulsory service charge. It added around £15 to our bill, staff got angry when we questioned it. Apparently it’s on there website and on the menu somewhere (we didn’t notice it)

Food very poor and the place needs a refurb won't be in that tip to soon what more can you say about it apart from don't bother

Reading through the reviews I am surprised at the number of poor reviews this restaurant has received from critics.This was our first visit to this restaurant and found the decor made for a comfortable ambiance. The buffet menu was comprehensive and everything we chose tasted as though it had been freshly cooked. Service was very friendly and efficient.Reason why a star has been dropped is due to the fact that 10% service fee is compulsory. I do not like being told what I have to pay as a service charge.

Have been buying take-away Chinese food from this place for a while and we have noticed the level of quality was going down drastically! Once we have complained about the ‘very dry salted & pepper squid’ dish but we haven’t had a proper answer! It seems like it’s been cooked hours ago! Too dry! It was a take-away! Today we did visit the place again as a family for dinner! They again had the same dry dish !! Complained again..... answer was it was cooked just now! Apparently it must have been fried ages ago as it was rock hard!!Never again this place......!!!

Ordered plain chow mien with no onion, egg Fried rice, and satay sauce.. usually terrible food anyway however this time it really went down hill.

Tuesday 19th April book the New Mandarin for my Daughters 40th Birthday a Table for 7.

Not impressed with the customer service or the food here. Arrived and was given a ‘set menu’ of very basic dishes, ordered and most of what turned up was very little meat, with lots of onion and peppers and just bland Chinese food. Little did we know that as we were just about to finish a couple arrives next to us and as was given the same menu, but they had the knowledge to ask for the ‘eat as much as you like menu’ funnily they didn’t give us that option and we then felt ripped off.

I’m surprised at some of the negative reviews as my experience of the food was good. Admittedly I didn’t eat in but the take away service was very busy which suggests it’s a popular place. I chose the salt and pepper chicken together with special fried rice and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lovely restaurant, very clean and spacious. Eat all you want, order off menu. More expensive than others I've been to but you get what you pay for. It's all cooked fresh and it's very nice. Not a huge variety but definitely enough to have a good feed and be satisfied. Only downside is, with most of these restaurants is the charge for soft drinks. £3.50 for a pint of soft drink which is flat and clearly from a larger bottle. Otherwise very good overall I will go again.

Delicious all you can eat; all freshly cooked and brought to the table. The foods was good staffs were lovely and attentive. I would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

This has to be one of the oldest Chinese restaurants in the area and the worst. the food is rubbish and tasteless so don't go. The Hong Kong is so much better.

Phoned on Saturday to book a table, and while on the phone we asked how much the buffet cost. Was given a price and was told it included service charge. My mum asked if we could take the service charge off (we rarely don't tip when when service charge isn't included on the bill, but when a service charge is included in the bill we instantly ask for it to be removed. Personally, it's rude to assume you'll get a tip and what it will be.) and they told us we can't. I told them that's illigal as service charge is optional and the customer had the right not to pay it. We were told that it's thr policy that at their restaurant its mandatory and must be paid. We tried to argue that they are breaking the law but were going around in circles. They would continuously insist that it's their policy, despite us telling them that their policy is not above the law. Eventually we gave up. Deciding that their attitude was a tell tale factor of what to expect, we went elsewhere.

We, a family of 6, visit this restaurant very often as the food is always good and it is daily local to us - the genial waitresses have always been very lovely and friendly whenever we have visited the restaurant or collected a takeaway. We ordered a takeaway last month only to wait an hour and a half for collection - not a problem when the food is worth it. Unfortunately when we got home the food was not hot or even warm. We called to advise them of this and they offered us a discount off our next order. We have today gone to place the order only to be told they do not want us ordering food again and do not want us in their restaurant as we ‘caused trouble’ - by telling them our food was cold! The man who co owns the restaurant told us repeatedly on the phone that we have caused trouble and that they do not want our custom. Never ordering again - very disappointing as the food is usually very good but the man was so insulting and rude on the phone.

We usually order from New Manderin at least twice a month, and visit often too, have done for years. We ordered a takeaway in December for 6 people which cost quite a lot of money, and when we went in to collect the order, the wait was over an hour. Although slightly annoying, we understood they were busy and were offered a drink whilst we waited. When we finally got our food, 1 and a half hours after we were told it would be ready, and got it home (under a mile away) the food was cold, and the order was wrong. We called New Manderin to explain the situation and they apologised and offered us discount off our next visit.

The Manager is so rude, he has left me feeling like a criminal because we complained that we had to wait an hour and a half for a takeaway that was cold!! He initially offered us a discount on our next meal as we are regulars here but didn’t honour it when we called, just accused us of causing trouble and that we would not be served in the restaurant again!! The takeaway we were ordering was in excess of £90 and each time we go, as a family of 6 it is always well over £150!!! I have been accused of being a trouble maker and when he pulled the “I am a Christian man” card, and I told him that I didn’t believe in God, he insulted me by saying “I am not surprised!’ He is rude and insulting and I hope people avoid the place as all they do is put their prices up and up .... a real shame, but their loss as we found a better, more friendly Chinese restaurant!!!

Pls don’t visit this place. Terrible staff and aweful customer service. Food was way too below average. Disgusting overall. Left just after our starters as couldn’t bear sitting there any longer only to be told by the owner that there is a minimum £15 charge spend per person which wasn’t mentioned anywhere- total rip off. Very disappointed would actually be an understatement for how I’m feeling after my family meal out tonight with my partner and father, We arrived to the restaurant sat down ordered a coke the coke was so flat so I kindly asked for a fresh one and my dad did to, Well the manager come over very aggressive and rude saying we’re not allowed and that the coke will be the same so we went on to ask for a can of coke and he refused said there just for delivery and then wouldn’t serve us I was not rude once just explained it was flat wasn’t making a big deal at all can’t say that for the manager tho! It’s just coke so really shocked at how he reacted with the situation, Anyways he then went on to picking up our menus and telling us to leave the restaurant. I’m very angry my family have been going here years my dad has even worked with the owner and knows the chefs but the new manager refused to get us the chef or give us the number for the owner and said he don’t even no him which I thought was abit weird. We shall not be returning manager very unwelcome,Rude,aggressive and certainly no customer service.

I had my 40th Birthday here and loved the place. Brought numerous friends and family who have also returned. Unfortunately today we decided to dine of the buffet style menu, the waiter wanted our entire food order in one go. Normally we order starters have a drink and then order main and sit back and relax. The new approach seemed rushed with no thought for the customer only the kitchen. You’ve lost a customer who spends on average £100 with you per month.

If you care about atmosphere and good sized portions as well as taste then don't go to this restaurant.

We visited the New Manderin and the food was freshly cooked and very tasty, we had the mixed starter which was delicious, the service was quick and friendly, the decor was tastefully done, overall it was a lovely evening.

Shocking! Ordered special chow mein, got it home to find I had a box of dry noodles, (no sauce) 12 shrimps, a handful of shredded pork, 3 tiny bits of spring onion and that was it! Called immediately to ask if they had given me the right food only to be met with a defensive chap who told me I had ordered the wrong dish.

Really rubbish takeaway, Beef Szechuan style was just a mass of garden peas, no trace of peppers or onion, or other vegetable ingredients. Used to be a decent meal there, but seems to be cutting corners to save a few pennies.

I had a really enjoyable takeaway of Char Sui pork with egg fried rice all for less than £9. The service was prompt and there were plenty of customers suggesting that it’s well regarded. I intend to return with my wife for a ‘sit down’ meal.

We used the restaurant for a simple takeaway of chicken and cashew nuts, egg fried rice and barbecue ribs. The food was perfectly cooked and delicious. This was our first visit since the refurbishment and even though our order was small we were greeted by a member of the management assisted by a very pleasant and cheerful lady assistant.

Went to New Mandarin in shenley church end newly refurbished Chinese restaurant on 24th March with my husband and daughter. It is beautiful and classy, the service was excellent and the food delicious, the only reason I didn't give it the five stars is I thought it just a little bit pricey, but other than that everything was excellent...

Used the takeaway service and was pleasantly surprised, having been disappointed recently at a few other local establishments. The portions are very generous and the standard of cooking is excellent. It also arrived warm and well wrapped in a box so was still warm when I got it home. Offering excellent value for money, I can definitely recommend this place and I have to say I will only be using the New Mandarin from now on.

The New Mandarin has finally reopened after it's refurbishment and it looks amazing. Beautiful plush deep red seating and it's all one level now and therefore fully suitable for disabled guests. On to the food. We used the takeaway service for a dinner party and we were not disappointed. The portions are good and the standard of cooking is excellent. If you want a really great Chinese meal then look no further.

So I checked out this place on here before we went. Lots of people said that it could do with updating. So it's not modern but it's clean and the food is good. It's the all you can eat when you can pick from a menu. Our food was fresh and hot, not too salty and the service was good. £3.50 for a pint of coke I thought was a bit much.

Have been here a few times before, most recently on 20/09/2017. We arrived at 5pm (opening time) and had the buffet menu. You choose 2 items per person at a time and they bring it out fresh. Then you order 2 more each time etc..

Hemos usado el nuevo Mandarín varias veces antes, como nos gusta el estilo un precio como sirve a un apose restaurantes de estilo bufé en el centro de la ciudad y el personal ha sido siempre uno de los puntos destacados de la noche junto con una buena comida. Por desgracia, parece la energía personal lleno de entretenimiento se hayan ido. Llegamos a las 7. 30 y tuvimos que esperar 10 minutos antes de siquiera ser acnowledged y nos llevaron a nuestra mesa. Fue una más de veinte minutos antes de que se tomara una orden de bebidas. Discurría la noche fue una espera media de al menos media hora entre cada curso. La camarera era amable pero en realidad algo inútil. Tuvimos que pedir una de bebidas y para nuestro platos sucios a ser eliminado. Pronunciaba nuestro plato principal platos calientes y después esperamos 10 minutos antes de llevar a cabo cualquier comida por que los platos estaban fríos. En el momento en que tenía tres platos de entrantes mixtos, pato con salsa de ciruela y una selección de platos principales y arroz fue 10. 30 y pasando mis hijas a dormir así que no tuvimos postre o café.

Excellent tasty food - Chicken in yellow bean sauce with egg fried rice. All was very well cooked and plenty of it too. Will definitely use this local takeaway again.

I visited this restaurant for an early dinner. We ordered dinner for two I asked them to change the starters for a soup and they gladly changed it without any extra charges. The hot and sour soup was really up to standard. This first-time experience was really good.

Arrived at 7pm was shown quickly to our table & ordered drinks. At 7.30 I had to ask if we could order our food. The starter came out within 15 minutes which was fine but we had to ask three times when our main would arrive and our table cleared, it eventually arrived at 9.15 with part of our order wrong & had we had to wait another 10 minutes for our rice so dinner was cold by time I could eat it. I noticed we were not the only table not happy with the wait, the take away service was really busy which impacted on the restaurant guests. We also couldn't get a servers attention again so had to go to the bar & order our drinks which was another 15 minutes. The last insult is you have no choice but to pay 10% service charge when really I would of left nothing tonight they were overstretched and understaffed. Not a great choice for NYE which is a shame as takeaways have always been great.

Love this restaurant. It is our 'Birthday Celebration Restaurant' because we know we will ALWAYS get quality food and excellent, friendly service. Celebrated our daughters 21st here . There was 12 of us we had the All You Can Eat Buffet. Food was tasty, hot and plenty of it. Waiters are very efficient and friendly.Would definitely recommend.

We hadn't booked, but the three of us arrived early evening and were immediately shown to a table. Yes, there are probably Chinese restaurants nearby in Central Milton Keynes with more upmarket decor, but you will pay for the privilege of enjoying it. We have eaten at the New Mandarin many times. Our son is a human dustbin and the all you can eat buffet is very good value. Friday night was no exception, as we all enjoyed our food. Yes, you do sometimes have to wait a bit longer between courses but that is because everything is freshly cooked. We certainly didn't recognise previous comments about poor quality food or unfriendly service. We had a very pleasant evening with good food and friendly service and will definitely be back.

Ten of us called in for a Sunday lunch time buffet meal. The staff were very helpful in seating us all together and served us from the buffet menu at our table. We ate so many appertisers that we could not do justice to the mains.Very happy with the quality and selection of food any pleased with the service.Service charge was added to the bill.

Hi,Went on Sunday evening. There were only a few people there, but the food quality was good. The chicken with cashew nuts was superb - vegetables were crisp, chicken was high-quality meat and not overcooked, and the cashews were just slightly softened by the cooking. The egg-fried rice was good, although the mushroom-fried was better. Others in our party had the szechuan prawns, and the crispy-chill-beef, which were also good, though the beef could've been a little more crisp. The restaurant was quiet - both because there were not too many people there, but also because of the thick curtains and carpet - which makes a nice change to more stylish places that wind up being very noisy.

The New Mandarin is somewhere you want to go for a cheap quick meal. We are currently renovating our kitchen so this restaurant offers us the perfect place to go for a quick and easy meal without having to get all dressed up. The food really isn't bad but certainly won't set your world on fire. Then again, neither will it's prices. For that reason, id recommend using it in exactly the same way we do. When it's a quick and easy meal on the cheap that you're looking for (with easy dress code), by all means us the New Mandarin.If you're looking for somewhere more upmarket or want to really enjoy yourselves, you can probably do better.This said, the staff are very attentive and extremely interactive. They want you to have a nice time and want to get to know you which is really very nice. The restaurant could be so much more but it does need investment. The decor hasn't changed much since I was a kid - that's way too long. I think with a little more thought in updating the place and improving the quality a fraction you'd see renewed interest.Thanks

This used to be one of the best Chinese restaurants in MK but after getting a takeaway recently I shall not go back. The food was bland and uninteresting. There are many better takeaways.

Always order a takeaway from here and have eaten in a couple of times. On all occasions, food is served quick and piping hot, service is with a smile and if you're lucky, some complementary prawn crackers! Can't recommend enough!

I went here before with someone and we sat in. The food was really nice last time and the staff were friendly. This time I felt like I should have ordered from elsewhere.Staff were still great but the noodles weren't chow mein noodles (I've never had thin noodles in a chow mein before) and the chicken balls were tiny. The satay sauce was more like a gravy from KFC. I feel like I wasted £14.20 on getting not a lot of food.The food itself did taste good but I wouldn't say you could feed 2 people sufficiently with what I ordered (which was how many of us were eating).

I've used this restaurant for 25 years and it used to be great.It changed hands a couple of years ago and I've been overseas so ordered a small take out meal this week to check it out.Just sweet & sour chicken Hong Kong style, fried rice & spring rolls.What a disappointment. I like chinese food as do my wife and daughter this restaurant is one of the best in mk i have to say i particularly like the crab foo yung but please please stop putting msg in everthing its NOT needed if the food is fresh it doesn't need a flavour enhancer and it msg gives me and millions of others headaches (Google chinese restaurant syndrome)I ask for it not to be put int the food but it seems most dishes are BOUGHT IN with it already in it !?

We visited this restaurant a few years ago and it was good . We were looking for somewhere to go with family that we had not see for a while . A place where we could chat and catch up and not feel as if we were being rushed out to make room for other eaters. This was ideal staff were very attentive the food was lovely and plenty of it . The quality of the food was good as well . After all the reviews I'd read I was a bit worried. But it was really nice great hot food great service. Thanks for the great meal.

As normal a truthful review is on its way , well at 5:15pm tonight we had turned up for a birthday meal for 10 . As expected apart from 1 family we were the only ones there,I'm going to cut this short as it could go on and on . At the end of the meal we got the bill £261 which included a £25 ARE YOU KIDDING ME charge (OK service charge) . We had 2 starters that didn't come out , 3 meals that the rice came out but the meat side of the meal about 10 min later and we asked for a small portion of chips for my 7yr old grandaughter, we I think I could of gone a qued up at the chippy across the road and got them quicker to her , that took about 20mins and everyone else had finished. Poor poor service for how many people were there. We spoke to waiter and expressed our concerns. He went off adjusted bill with no service which we had no problem paying, then the so called manager came over to sort things out which ended up with him raising his voice at us as we had questioned the restaurant over the service. As we were paying bill he tried once again to belittle us once again at the main reception. All he kept saying was thank you thank you come again ......2 hopes........BOB HOPE AND NO HOPE . I hope this helps , don't waste your time or your hard earned money . PS..... meat was all bland I'll be going back to zen gardens

Have always use this for our takeaway and they have never let us down. Great food and the staff so friendly.

Went mid week with work colleagues (group of 10). Some of us did the buffet menu (£15.95 per person + 10% service charge) and others ordered off the main menu. The food was delicious. The service wasn't great as the girl didn't seem to know much about the menu and we had to keep getting up to go find her to order more drinks and food (even though the restaurant wasn't remotely busy).The restaurant is in a nice quiet location with plenty of free parking nearby. Overall we liked the restaurant and would definately go back as the food is very good.

Restaurant and take away, lovely food, fast service and very friendly and polite staff, have always gone to this Chinese as my other half loves the chicken curry and says it's the best in Milton Keynes. Would definitely recommend this take away. Good value for money.

I thought the food was good. We enjoyed a selection of dishes including special chow mien (with soft noodles and no sauce), which was very enjoyable and a bit different, and an excellent duck with pineapple. The beef with mushrooms was a little disappointing. One notable point is I didn't notice much MSG or excessive sugar. I often get a headache after eating Chinese food and I attribute this to one or both of these added ingredients. I've never eaten at the restaurant but each time I've had a takeaway it's been good.

This review is a difficult one to rate as the food is worthy of 5*, whereas the service and atmosphere is only worthy of 1/2* . The food here is exceptional and we continue to return solely for the food. We always eat off of the all you can eat buffet menu. Although the dishes are considerably smaller than when eating from the take away, this is perfect as you can continue to order more and it allows you to try other dishes too. The atmosphere is non-existent. Whenever we visit there is usually only one or two other tables. The decor and music is very old and drab. The service is poor as well. At times you feel like you're an animal in a zoo as the staff stand around watching your every mouthful. The only decent member of staff is called Johnny and he makes and effort to speak to customers and is more than happy for you to order more dishes. Like other reviews on here state, we have also found that the other members of staff are reluctant to take your order for more courses. They look miserable as sin and grunt at you. On our last visit the lady snapped at us when we tried to pass her our plates and said she'd do it. They definitely need a lesson in customer service.This is why it is then cheeky that they expect you to pay a 10% service charge - I feel that this should be discretionary. If the food was any poorer we wouldn't return, but as I say we return for the great food.

Me and my family have been eating here for around 18 years. Food is so fresh and service is great. I always go for the stir frys here... chicken in oyster sauce or tofu. Just doesnt compare to anywhere else. Salt and pepper squid is so fresh here aswell. Me and my family have never had any issues with our food. Perfect everytime. Good quality food and well worth the price you pay!!!

They serve good quality food, with reliable service and standards, the service is also fast and efficient. I have been coming here for years, even if it is a bit out of my way now.

Walked in and thought I'd gone back to the eighties. Older decor and empty at the time but it was early. Staff were friendly and seated us straight away. However they were to helpful and actually ended up making us feel rushed. Food was tasty and as described but maybe a little over priced as there were no thrills.

We visited the New Mandarin in hot pursuit of Mei, the world's greatest living Chinese restaurant waitress (who had recently moved across from the excellent Aromas). She'd spotted us arriving and was hiding behind the door! We'd taken a quick glance at the Trip Advisor reviews before leaving and, to be honest, we weren't expecting a lot on the food side. But, surprise surprise, it was pretty good and certainly worth a 4 star review. The decor is modern, if a little jaded, and the carpet has certainly seen better days. But no real complaints about the food. It was tasty, hot and promptly served. The servings leaned towards the over-large but then, some will be hungrier than others. All told, if they can hold on to yesterday's form, I would recommend a visit.

Find out and be 100% before buying any food from this place there are no halal signs any were in the restaurant.

I got a takaway and they got my order wrong, not really a big deal. But the food was terrible. The fried rice was dry, the hongkong sweet & sour pork was digusting looking as well as awful tasting, chinese greens over cooked and soggy.I will not be going there again.

At last a Chinese Takeaway that is great in MK, first time of ordering from there tonight. Food was superb, slightly pricey but portions a good size; well worth recommending for people to eat there or order from. We moved to MK 3 1/2 years ago and have been searching for a Chinese that was worth eating from and this is the place, we will be back.

Decided to get a takeaway on the way home from work, but will NOT be going there again! We ordered sweet and Sour King prawn balls which were all horrible grey batter with a tiny bit of prawn, the spare ribs were actually just the ends of full ribs . not worth the money sorry.

As the title says - nothing to get excited about. Typical Chinese food, a bit expensive for what is offered, service rather poor and not well organized (18 persons birthday party and as usual they did not get it right, wrong dishes, confused timing etc.,)Will not be using again that is for certain.

After watching the staff brush crumbs on the floor and turn over the table cloths it didn't leave much more to the imagination to then have hot plates to go cold by the time the food came and then to top it all the carrot dressing was possible used again on another person dish, the service was very poor and the drinks were over priced

We have visited this restaurant several times and have never been able to find fault in the quality and taste of the food.However, each time we have been the service has been very disappointing. Our only reason for returning is due to the lovely food.I am unsure if there has been a recent change in waiter/staff but we found the atmosphere to be non existent during our latest visit. The staff stand around watching your every mouthful!Each visit we eat from the 4 course, all you can eat buffet menu. When ordering a second main course the waiters begrudgingly take the order and make you feel uncomfortable.Drinks are overpriced particularly soft drinks at £3.50 for a coke. A 10% service charge is added to the bill which we feel is totally unreasonable especially as the service is so poor.To sum up, this restaurant offers lovely food but is totally ruined by the unfriendliness of the staff and complete lack of atmosphere!

I went here with my wife and 11 year old son on Sunday and I have to say I was disgusted at what we were charged for practically no food at all. The food was ok but because my son feel into the bracket of a full price meal we ended up paying £71 for three plates of food and a few soft drinks. Absolutely disgusted to be honest and certainly will not be returning.
