New Magna Tandoori Restaurant in Chichester

Fantastic menu to choose from with friendly staff and good prices. What's not to love. The specialities are amazing! Naga chilli dish is fantastic.

We found this restaurant on the Destination Selsey website & initially went here for dinner on the saturday evening - it was packed & we were glad therefore that we had booked in advaance . The food was good & the portions large ( we had to ask for containers to take some of it home with us ) & the service was quick & good, clearly helped by a manager who was efficiently organising his staff . We were that impressed that we decided to go back on the following thursday evening & found ourselves wishing we hadn't bothered , it was like a completely different restaurant ! The restaurant was almost empty & yet the service was so slow & very poor, it seemed the staff were taking advantage of their manager not being there . Strangely the food actually seemed better than the saturday , but the service let them down . I would rate the saturday 4 & the thursday 2 so hence my rating of 3. Yes I'd go back , but not on a week night ..

We went here twice during our visit to Selsey, once at the weekend and then again during the week, both times were vastly different experiences. At the weekend, the service was prompt and efficient and the food was good. I'm not someone who generally likes Indian food (but my Dad does) so I wasn't expecting to find very much I liked on the menu, in the end I had a prawn cocktail followed by the Chicken and Prawn Biriyani. We also had poppadoms and garlic naan bread. The portion sizes were generous, so much so we ended up asking for containers to take the rest back to the caravan. The only disappointment came when we got the bill and discovered the poppadoms didn't come with the chutneys and dips included and they were a separate charge, given that we had barely used them we weren't impressed and felt we should have been given the option not to have them. Still we enjoyed the meal enough to book again for during the week. It was during the week that the service became slow and at times almost non-existent despite the restaurant being almost empty. Strangely though, this time the food tasted fresher and much better. We had the same meal again, although this time without poppadoms, with plenty left for lunch the next day. Overall we enjoyed both of our meals but the service both times was so different. If you're looking at visiting, I'd suggest going during the weekend if you want good service and either not having the poppadoms or making sure you get your money's worth out of the dips.

Amazing food and hospitality would definitely recommend. The naan bread is next level. Came here again and the food again was amazing, I really would recommend trying.

Got whilst staying at seal bay resort, was lovely food and quick service, had the chicken dansak, garlic nan, egg fried rice and onion bajjis. Only criticism was there could've been a little more spice to my curry. Saved our evening after our oven didn't work. Would highly recommend.

Ordered online and collected, smooth process and food was tasty and seemed fresh, the Bombay potatoes and lamb madras were the highlights

The tarka daal was authentic and probably the best I've had at a restaurant so far. It was fresh and packed full of flavour. I had the murugh and panner dish too, which was nice and different from what I've had before. Having the mix was unique. They did not skimper on the pieces of chicken and cheese. Enough to share! Worth dipping the roti into the sauce. Freshly made roti and mushroom rice, cooked to perfection (not oily or burnt). Thank you for your kind service and hospitality.

Exceeded expectations! Did not disappoint! My husband loves a curry and kept mentioning we must try it one day, it's a bit out on limb, especially as we live in Eastleigh, but he had a special Birthday coming up so I decided to go for it and we stayed at a b&b, had a couple of drinks and a Fantastic curry, what can I say! I was a bit sceptical, but I have to say it was the best curry I have had in years. Thank you all at New Magna, we will be back.

A really friendly atmosphere here and lots of assistance and suggestions of side orders and breads to go with our curries. All four of our differing curries were beautiful with fresh spices, fabulous flavours and not in the least bit oily and unusually for us every single dish was empty at the end. Lovely puddings too and all for around £30 a head with drinks. Second visit and I can confirm that the customer service here is excellent. On spotting my 11 year old granddaughter had just tried her first green chilli from my plate, a glass of iced water and a lolly appeared!

We have been living in Selsey for a few years now. Decided to try NewMagna for a takeaway this evening and wasn’t disappointed. Welcomed on arrival and we placed our order of Chicken Makhanwala and Shahi chicken from the Specialities and Own Recipe section plus rice and Naan. Had to have a draught Tiger whilst waiting. The order arrived within the advised time and it was hot, fresh and good value for the amount of chicken/sauce received. I can see I’ll be working my way through their extensive menu. Delicious food, nice size portions too. Try it, you’ll love it !!

Wow! What a wonderful place to eat a curry , a real gem. We have eaten in many curry restaurants but this is now our favourite. Took a little while to come to table but that means cooked to order .. served piping hot and by the most charming waiters I've ever had. Absolutely delicious, huge portions and excellent value for money . Can't wait to return to Selsey to eat here again. Gutted we only found it on our last night !! so here is the heads up , go you won't regret it

Takeaway review. Only half the amount of chicken in the curry than there used to be. Really overpriced! I will never order from here again! Ordered hardly anything and it cost £35 Curry taste was average. My advice would be, drive to Masala City in Chichester and eat the best curry you will ever eat.. BY FAR!!!! Just incredible food!

Went here on a Tuesday night, the restaurant was quite busy. I should imagine you would need to book at the weekend. The staff were friendly. The food was lovely. I didnt realise but there were two sag panneer sides dishes on the menu and I ordered the wrong one. (Totally my mistake) The staff were happy to change this and didn't charge me. Won't hesitate to go back to this first class restaurant 😋

Fantastic food. Brilliant, friendly service and lovely atmosphere. Visited with my two young daughters and husband. There was something for everyone. Even with a cough the manager kindly gave me ginger in hot water and ginger to take home with me. Very highly recommended.

We have takeaways and often eat at new magna, Im vegan my partner vegetarian I have never had any problems with ordering my meal , the staff are very accommodating and the curry is lovely, not swimming in fat , with plenty of fresh vegetables . I love curry and believe these are the best I have had.

I tried chicken bhuna and naan, first of Naan is overpriced and taste of curry is not authentic at all, its was curry with pieces of unflavored chicken pieces and chunk of tomatoes, It wasn’t bhuna at all, just lame curry. P.S staff and team are very friendly and good bunch there, shame food isn’t

We always use this Indian take away every time we visit Seal bay resort in Selsey. They deliver to your caravan door on site and the food is amazing! On this occasion we only stayed at the resort for 3 nights so only had a take away from here one night. Previously we have been known to have more than one during our stay as it’s so nice! All delivered piping hot and the flavours of the currys are mouth wateringly good! madras, vindaloo, garlic chilli chicken masala, pathia, sagaloo, chicken tikka and paneer tikka and the naans are some of the dishes we have tried and they are all delicious! Been ordering takeaways from New Magna for the last few months. Never had a problem with them. I have tried lots of their dishes and the food is always enjoyable and tasty. Delivery is very quick usually arriving early and my food has never been cold. A decent Indian that has become my local favourite.

Really disappointed with my order. I was at an address five minutes away from the restaurant but the food was cold when it arrived. It cost over £30 for a Biriani, curry, rice and naan. I ordered a cheese naan but a plain naan was delivered. If I had paid by card I would be seeking a refund. Also the portions were really small. Perhaps I'm privileged to ordinarily order my Indian takeaway in Chichester where there is more choice and less of a monopoly. I really think that if the people of Selsey had more options they wouldn't be giving five star reviews at this takeaway. And they would be ordering elsewhere.

Tasty food, great customer service, good atmosphere

I've lived in the area for a couple of years but somehow never tried this great Indian restaurant. Having been in London for most of my life I had been to quite a variety of Indian restaurants. This one is outstanding, with both food quality & choice, friendly & helpful staff & relaxed atmosphere. Music playing quietly in background. Last week when I visited on my own in the evening it was quite busy & it was clearly for the most part people repeat visiting & locals. There's a very good choice of menu & I recommend in particular the nan bread & the lovely fragrant & fluffy pilau rice. The staff took pains to explain the contents of the dishes I enquired about. Thank you all staff. I will be back.

We were staying in the area so thought we would try out this restaurant, it was a good choice. Food was good, staff were attentive and, although quiet and early evening, there was still a nice atmosphere with a range of music being played. Everything seemed fairly priced. The tikka masala and peshwari naan were the highlights. We will return!

Don't go there if you're hungry. It takes ages and the staff. So many tables who ordered after us got theirs earlier. No apology nothing, even though we were there with our kids.

The prawn on puree was served with a creamy korma sauce, which is not prawn on puree, absolutely unheard of! Prawn on puree is always served with a delicious tomato and lightly spicy sauce We regularly have indian takeway and I can honestly say this was by far the worst we have ever tasted! I would love to see their kitchen, I can only imagine that nothing is cooked from fresh ingredients, just cheap powder, additives and colouring. We threw the lot away in the bin, a complete waste of £45.00.

Asked for as b extra hot vindaloo but the lid said not too hot. So question why did I ask for it to be hotter just shows staff don't listen to their customers

We are at the end of our holiday in Selsey and it’s tradition for us to have a nice meal out for our last evening. We came across this restaurant doing an online search and thought we would give it a go after reading some great reviews. What can I say? Well, the service was at a high standard as well as the food. We found all the staff, friendly and very polite. My fussy son had the chicken nuggets, which he loved. We went all out with it being our last meal and over ordered but came away with extremely full tummy’s. My older son wasn’t sure about having Indian but he absolutely loved it and we realised that it’s his first time (eating in). He is autistic and is funny about his hands so when the warm hand wipes came out it made his day, he would usually be in the bathroom washing his hands. He commented on the service after we left. Highly recommend, worth the 5 stars.

This is one of the best Indian restaurants we have ever found. We live in Kent but have fallen in love with Selsey and visit when we can. This restaurant is so very very good. The place is immaculately clean, the waiters are smart and polite, and the gentleman that runs it is an exemplar for customer service and customer care. It’s a true traditional Indian restaurant with a huge and tasty menu and fabulous service - we love the place so much we fit in 2 dinners in a weeks holiday stay and then my husband raves about the place to all our friends and family when we go back to Kent - you absolutely can’t do better than eat here.

The food iand service s excellent it is under new management and really 100% better. I had the Chicken Shalick was very tasty and fresh ,plenty of meat and taste.

Excellent service. Rarely down here but visited twice in the week. Chicken Jalfrezi first time and Bangalore fish curry the 2nd. Both excellent.

When I moved to Selsey three years ago I had a take away from Manga Tandoori and I left a bad review for I found the food bland. I was advised to try again as now under new management I was Gob Smacked at the difference the food was by far the best I have tasted in many a year and before I moved I lived close to Southall and you can always get a great curry there if you know where to go this was on par with any I have had there keep up the good work you will have many more orders from me.5*

BEST INDIAN IN THE SURROUNDING AREA! Went in and Noor and his team made me feel welcomed. I always go for pretty much the same dishes, dansak, pilau rice and peshwari naan. Everything was phenomenal. Thank you for the great experience and I'm glad I stumbled across this restaurant on the off chance whilst driving through Selsey!

Since the owner sold this restaurant in November, it has not been the same food wise. Lack of flavor, pilau rice tasteless.... Must do better.

I left a really bad review due to the poor experience my family and I received last year. I received an email this year to say the restaurant had changed hands and would I come along to try again. We'll I'm glad I relented. Booked a table for 3, from the start the whole atmosphere had changed with a nice greeting, the waiter couldn't do enough for my granddaughter, made her feel very special and gave her a free ice cream which made her day. The food was lovely and the waiting staff exceptional. Thank-you for changing my mind. I will be back

Really lovely food. Was fairly quick to receive. And reasonably priced. Only downside was it was very quiet when we first arrived so staff were waiting around.

This restaurant is not what it used to be since it was taken over. Coconut rice with lump of sugar, pilau rice tasteless, chicken Tikka badami not bad, garlic rice has less garlic. More effort needed to beat the old menu.

Great food! All came hot and quickly, was really tasty and was excellent value for money! Service was great and the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend!

We had a takeaway delivered this evening. It took just over an hour due to them being busy but it was definitely worth the wait. Everything we ordered was very tasty & we both thoroughly enjoyed all of it. There were a lot of different dishes to choose from & price wise itge cost for the two of us was very reasonable. Can’t fault anything. Highly recommend the food, service & polite staff on the phone & delivery.

First time since new owners/staff. Great menu..loads of choice. Nice to see different dishes available Chefs specials , owners own dishes makes a pleasant change. Bot pricey at £11 / £12 for main course ,but loads of it. So always a doggy bag to take away. When you take the costs of travel to Chichester and parking Bit of a no brained if your local.
