New Lucky Star Chinese & Thai Takeaway in Tameside

There are few things better in life when it comes to convenience than the ONLY fast food place in walking distance of your house being excellent 💯 We have no option than the New Lucky Star but thankfully, it's so good, we don't need one. Our first time visiting yesterday as we're new to the area. We ordered: - Special chow mein: everything piping hot, juicy bIg prawns, lots of different tender meats and perfectly cooked noodles (enough for 2 people) - Chilli vegetable in sauce: whoah! Chilli instead, as it should be 🌶️ FRESH vegetables (not frozen) with slices of fresh chilli in a tasty sauce - Shredded lamb with wraps, sliced cucumber/spring onions and sticky sauce: absolutely sensational and not greasy at all. A real triumph in simple cooking. Very generous, 4 filled starter wraps - Dry noodles and a fried rice: both very tasty All in all, excellent value for money, friendly staff and everything looked very clean in the shop.

The food is disgusting so do yourself a favour and order somewhere else

Food has always been nice for years but as soon as they brought the salt and pepper box in, it’s a game changer!

ribs were tender & saucy, i asked for stir fried broccoli in oyster sauce and they catered no problem - it was also gorgeous, first time ordering but won’t b the last, thank you! <3

Not convinced by their Chow Mein but the Salt & Pepper chips were excellent. I think we will be ordering from here for the foreseeable future since our local takeaway has gone massively down hill.

Wow this place tried to charge £1.00 more than menu price with no apology,and very rude, shan’t be going again, also food poor.

Brilliant Chinese, great food. Love the salt and pepper ribs, house special fried rice and the duck. Arrives fast if I order via delivery. Great service.

Ordered online and collected. This honestly was the best salt and pepper box I've ever had! Customer service was great, very friendly people at the counter, and the ribs were soooooooo good! Lovely chips, curry sauce and chicken too. The option to swop rice for noodles is a huge bonus - costs an extra £1 but totally ok with that as we all prefer noodles. Yum! One box fed 3 hungry adults with leftovers.

Food was piping hot, very tasty. Most of all however, the delivery driver Matt is such a lovely man, smile on his face with a gracious approach. Lobeky staff great food.....Will order again

Asked for delivery time came 25 minutes early was in shower. Chips was reheated up & disgusting like stones.

We love it here. The portions are always a great size. We usually have for tea and then lunch the next day. 😋

Absolutely amazing food we have a debate every mothers day about where to get our annual Chinese takeaway from. Lucky star has retained the mothers day cup For a second year running. Cannot fault anything I urge you to try

Worst place I ever had salt and pepper chips before full of grease , burnt flavour even though don't look burnt. Just taste of pure salt normally, not the first time gave this place a few tries but you know just got worse. Last time for me very disappointed.

chippy tea £ 12.80 all in the bin !! Friday 14th jan 22 delived at 6.55 Cold barely cooked chips , dried up ribs with a very small amount of ok sauce , thin peace of fish . never again gone right down hill !! :(

Absolutely awful, ordered and then collected at time they said and it was cold.....sharing starter box was the vilest thing I've ever seen....ribs that looked like they were off a malnourished dinosaur really long with no meat on and the 2 mains were like water, I will not be going back again!!!!

Two weeks ago was excellent,last night A total waste of £30.00,really disappointed Won’t be going there again.

Told me 10 mins for pickup 33 mins after pickup time still stood here waiting on plus all kids be in bed now hopefully so extra for me but Prince Edward chippy far better

We are still waiting for an order we placed 2 hours ago. I was told 1 hour ago that the food was on its way, 30 minutes later it still hadn’t arrived. When I called they said the order has just been sent out and will be with us shortly. I called again and they advised the order was on their way 10 minutes ago and put the phone down. I certainly will not be ordering again!!! Disgraceful service

First order and very disappointed. £5.80 for curry that didn't come with rice, my fault for not checking but the online menu wasn't clear and for the price I expected boiled rice. Singapore Vermicelli meat dry and noodles very greasy. On a positive note my husband enjoyed the chicken and sweetcorn soup and delivery was quicker than estimated. Won't be ordering again 😒

Lovely food always fast deliver won’t order from anywhere else

Been a regular customer over the years but tonight's customer service disgraceful, part order missing so said they would deliver missed order later. Advised that this would not work as chips and fish would be cold, offered prawn crackers as a apology so was told they would take fish and chips back but then I would have no chips with my crispy beef. I was then told to eat the beef and have chips later. Plus no refund on missed order. Will not be ordering again!

Don't believe them when they say your meal will be ready for collection in 10 minutes, had to wait 25 minutes on my last visit, and the ribs were overcooked.

Salt and pepper chips were nasty way to salty then I got chicken balls ribs and chicken and there was no meat on them it was just pure fat my lips are stinging with how salty the chips were

Been going here for years, the quality of the food is well deserving of the high hygiene rating afforded to the restaurant. I've ordered all but a handful of items from the menu and have yet to be disappointed. My only go-to for a Chinese in Tameside. Staff are extremely friendly and deliveries are always prompt & early.

Seriously don't want to give this 5* incase they get so busy they won't deliver but they are amazing! I've struggled for 18 mths to find a Chinese that delivers but also great value and fantastic quality. Well tonight I found that place and they best not get too busy from my review to deliver to me!!! Be updating the mottram and Glossop group with this little treasure!!! ☺️

High food hygiene rating, SHOCKING food QUALITY well worthy of only 1 star. First visit would not recommend it. Tasteless meals totally disappointed and definitely not value for money. Can’t wait for our usual Chinese to open!!!.

As a family we have been ordering from here for yrs ,never have we had anything but amazing food and excellent fast delivery .

Been going here 10 years or so always brilliant they used to do a really good Thai green curry but it's been awful the last 3 times I've had, probably over an 8 week period don't know if they've changed chefs

Good food. Friendly staff, speedily cooked food. I ordered mushroom fried rice's and vegetable curry a friend ordered chicken ginger and pineapple and egg fried rice, both were delicious x we shall be back x

Order from here now and again. Safe to say food has always been spot on. Plus I've never waited long then twenty minutes before it's been delivered.

Ordered online but went to collect alot earlier than the stated pick up time so made it for me there and then.

Walked in and ordered my food only had £5 cash to be told there isn’t a card manchine! So I order something else which was £3 so I could pay in cash and then my order was wrong so they clearly didn’t listen and then when I went back to get it correct told it would be more and I didn’t have money on me at this point so I said I can’t pay. As I was walking out I was called a liar, shocking service.

This was without a doubt a excellent meal. Our usual takeaway is on holiday but has become complacent and messed meals up. This tonight was excellent food, a mouthwatering array of flavours and will either be definatly be visited again ....well done lucky star first class

Absolute disgrace!!!!!!!! the owner(lady one) has got no idea of customer relations. Food was wrong I rang up and she ended up putting the phone down on me.. I rang and rang and rang and she kept on answering and hanging straight up. She’s a absolute disgrace. I eventually ended up getting through to the delivery drive because she wouldn’t answer and kept hanging up. The delivery driver eventually up swapping my order but the Chinese woman is as arrogant as they come without swearing.!!!!!!!!!!

I have just moved back on Moorfield Ave been twice ordered the special chow mein, curry sauce prawn crackers like i say ive been twice & I will certainly be returning for a 3rd visit

Went in with my last £1.75 , bought chips and gravy. Got home , I was starving hungry ! All I can say is , you should be ashamed of putting out rock hard chips - absolutely disgusting .

Stop asking me to review this Chippy it's horrible food, and smells awful.

Have been ordering from here once a week for the last 4/5 years always great food so didnt mind when they increased prices, stopped giving free prawn crackers and charging delivery, but today i enquired how much my order would be didnt think it would be that much so i double checked prices with the menu over charging me on a food and delivery when i called back they claim they have had a price increase AGAIN (food and delivery)but havent updated menu's. After explaining my disappointment to the young lady she was more then happy to cancel my order and lose my custom!!!
