We arrived on a Thursday evening to a busy pub and a very warm welcome. The drinks were delicious and good value for money. The food was outstanding - served piping hot and beautifully cooked. Excellent veggie and vegan options. We all had the salted caramel cheesecake for dessert and it was the perfect finish to our meal and the end of our holiday. The staff were very friendly and we would definitely return if/when we are in the area again to try out the rest of the menu and sample more of the excellent drinks menu.

We’ve stopped at this pub a good few times for a pint on way back from hikes in the beacons. The real ale is kept perfectly - easy to see why they are constantly on CAMRA good beer guide. Finally had chance to try the food today and didn’t disappoint. No nonsense, tasty pub food at reasonable prices and big portions. Just what is needed after a long hike ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

Was my birthday, so booked the New Inn for dinner and wow, food was amazing. We are all veggies, so I had a Red Thai Veg Curry with Rice Noodles and my wife and daughter both had the Mushroom and Lentil Lasagne. My curry was sooo tasty and didn't last long at all. Both my wife and daughter loved their lasagna's too and when my daughter got full I ended up finishing hers too Sadly this meant we were all too full to try a dessert there! Next time for sure though Lovely pub, friendly staff and amazing food (and lots of great ales too) Highly recommend booking in for dinner, we will be back

We went with another couple for the Sunday lunch which was nice...the cauliflower cheese, the beef and the red cabbage were so tasty! I would say the vegetables were quite hard but that's some people like that & the choice of veg was good. The staff didn't quite know what was on the dessert menu or what they had left which I found a bit odd, no menus given or boards up with prices of anything so when we paid didn't really know how much anything was and just paid at the end, would have been nice to know the prices of the food. For a pub Sunday lunch it was nice and would say to give it a try :-)

Came across here by searching reviews and was certainly not disappointed. Friendly, welcoming service - even with it being my first visit and there evidently being locals there too (also super friendly). As soon as you walk in, Neil and Sarah make you feel extremely welcome - there is a lovely vibe and friendly atmosphere 🫶 the best though is their home cooked food - nothing disappointing and they went the extra mile of putting foil the veggies, whilst the meat was being plated up, such an excellent touch - loved every aspect of the meal and all the empty plates at the end served justice to the amazing meal that we had just enjoyed - also loved the puds ❤️🫶🫡🪂

This pub has such a lovely atmosphere and cosy interior, and the food was amazing. It’s not just pub grub, the menu has lots of interesting, vegetarian options and variations on classics. It also changes regularly and the chef always accommodates dietary requirements. The portion sizes are huge and it’s just delicious, hearty food. Nice drinks on tap too. Will be going again! I am reluctant to write this review score as it is as already difficult to book a table for Sunday lunch ! But it is the best Sunday lunch you can have ! It never disappoints , the red cabbage and the cheese cauliflower are the best , roast potatoes any Yorkshire puddings the best and the lamb melts in your mouth ! I hoping that we don't make it more difficult to get a table ! It also has some of the best beers you can drink Thank you for all the hard work that you do to ensure your customers have a great lunch ! It is much appreciated by all your friends and customers ! We booked a table for 8 on a very wet Thursday night. The landlord was extremely welcoming, as were the other customers! They allowed us to bring two dogs too. The pub is cosy and warm. There were 4 choices of real ale, we had two of them and they were both excellent. We also had a cider that was made literally next door. Between us we ordered Steak Pie, Venison Stew, Venison Lasagne and a Seafood selection. All of the food was hearty and delicious. Just what we wanted after a day on the Welsh tourist trail. Ian, his wife and the young waitress that serves us were very friendly and helpful. It would definitely be advisable to book ahead as every table was full, even on a wet Thursday!

Can recommend the beef pie and venison. The meals are very reasonably priced. Although we didn’t indulge in dessert they were available. There is also a good selection of real ales to choose from. Well kept beer enjoyed by our group of beer connoisseurs. Neil kept the Butty Bach flowing and the fire roaring - mostly to dry out the soggy walkers. The home cooked food was excellent - a credit to Sarah - I think we tried everything on the menu!!The accommodation served our needs perfectly, with all the measures in place to protect against the virus. A traditional pub with loads of atmosphere. Cosy and welcoming with super-friendly staff and locals (always a good sign when you can see the locals enjoying themselves!). Comprehensive menu which should cater for most tastes at not exhorbitant prices. Definately not a fast-food house but all the better for that - gives time to soak up the ambience and enjoy the company before the food arrives. When it does - wow - superbly cooked and presented, with very generous portion sizes. Good selection of drinks (the different varieties of gin were a talking point) but, if your legs will stand it, try the local cider (produced a few yards down the road). The scrumpy is memorable (gives Thatchers rough a run for its money) but for non-professionals take it slowly and in halves or you could regret it when the time comes to stand up!From the outside, the New Inn doesn't shout its virtues but go in and you won't regret it. Given the chance, we will certainly be back. Thoroughly recommended!

I've been to the New Inn countless times now as my family live in the area, and let me tell you, the place is amazing. Super friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere, the place really feels like a community hub, but is also so inviting to visitors. 2 of us stayed and ate here on a cycling trip to the Brecon Beacons. Good food ; excellent beer : comfortable beds. What really stood out was Neil the landlord going out of his way to help me sort out a bike problem which would have spoiled the trip.

Stayed here while working and as they were quiet mid week I was upgraded to a larger room. Friendly and helpful staff. Great beer and cider knowledge in the pub also.

We were staying in Hay and Drover offer the only charger for electric vehicles in the town (and it's free). They were generous with their suggestions of using it overnight. They sell maps for local road and MTB rides too, so after we'd been out on one, we stopped by for a coffee and cake. They sell energy bars and gels too, if you're stocking up before or during a ride. A very friendly team!

Lovely local server. I had the vegetarian curry, which was (surprisingly) brilliant! Homemade, and tasted fresh and well-balanced spices- unusual for a vegetarian meal. Husband had ham, egg and chips. Chips were crispy, and ham was a generous portion, tasty and thick-cut. 😋 2 slices of ham, and 2 eggs. Great 👍

Stayed with my daughter for a couple of nights before the school term restarts. Room was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. Very quiet with a gorgeous view of the Welsh countryside. Breakfast was lovely and filling. A real shame they don't do evening meals as it meant we ended up with takeaways in the car as I wasn't sure if we'd be allowed to bring in hot food. That aside, we enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to book again.
