In August 2024 i visited Hong Kong it is a beautiful city with good food and people but Hong Kong city is expensive.

The food was dry , service not good man

We choose the buffet option few weeks ago and food was nice. We decided to return and chose same option and food was horrendous, duck was old, prawn toast had a funny smell and the rest of food was tasteless and looked like leftovers. They kept forgetting orders in both instances. It states fresh food cooked daily but I tent to disagree where buffet is concerned. We paid almost 100 pounds for horrible, dated food. Overall review hit and miss.

Please can you put back on the deliveroo menu the jellyfish with pork as I phoned in the guy said it was available but I’ve checked several times over the past few weeks and it’s not there. Also would like to know how I can order the whole sucking pig? Nice food.

My family and I have literally being going here for at least 20 years. It's been around 13 years since I was last there and everything is just as I remember. Customer service is dantisix. Their Dim sum is delicious (12:00 - 14:00) and served quickly. The other dishes from the main menu, crispy chilli Beef etc, are also excellent.

We had a Christmas party at Hong Kong City. The food was delicious and the service very friendly and attentive. Order the Mountain Goat on the special menu. It's incredible! 5*

The group meal was a complete shambles. There was no structure to the service. A bad experience all round. Dirty seats. Poor standards. Go somewhere else!

Omg being a Middle Eastern and grown up with organic fresh home made food , this place is beyond disgusting. I have been to few more Chinese and were ok none was like this . The char siu bao and egg custard bao are soft and flavorful, leaving a lasting impression. It feels like tasting authentic dim sum! We recently ordered a takeaway suckling pig from Hong Kong City to celebrate my grandma's birthday, and it was a hit! Amazing service! Beautifully Instagramable food👀 Me & my family decided to visit this place to treat ourselves and it did not disappoint. We got the weekend buffet and ate ourselves full. Unlike Chinatown buffets, this one includes table service so you just sit down and order as you please 😋 Really good looking food presentation wise but nothing stood out and atmosphere could be better. Our servers, Jewel and Yang (who surprisingly spoke Spanish!) were attentive and warm. Will come back ☝️☝️☝️

This restaurant while pretty has really bad food. Some of it was over and undercooked, some even lacked flavour !! The owner is super obnoxious and kept staring at me and my children and i’m not sure why. I wouldn’t recommend going, waste of money and time, felt super uncomfortable also.

There service is so bad , they are very disorganised , they have disgusting food & they are very dirty and filthy, i witnessed a staff covering a filthy table with a cloth and place a customer there. & the food is 0/10 bottom tier food. Will never ever step foot in there again.

Had the worse experience here today and I’m so upset, the food was disgusting bland, like no flavour at allllllll and they even gave me raw chicken I was so disappointed and upset as I spent £57 + service charge thst made it £63 , bad service bad food & it looks very run down and disorganised in there.

We had wedding party there. The food is average, the service is very bad, no understanding English. The food was taken away before it finished yet and without asking. The toilets were very dirty.

If I could give 0 stars I would the food at this place was appalling, there was no seasoning VERY dry it was also very cold I’m not over exaggerating but i honestly thought that this was just some random food that they had left over thrown in a plate and barely heated up. The waiter was also very reluctant to take our food back in and reheat it she even brought someone else to try and back her up by saying the food was warm eventually she took back the one plate that we didn’t want reheated and it was barely warm when we got it back 😂. And I honestly think me and my two children got food poisoning

I applied for a job in this shop, and the boss asked me to show him how to clean the table and how to hold six plates with one hand, including bowls, cups, and spoons. The salary was eight pounds per hour. I said I'm sorry and this job is not suitable for me. Me, I left, and then the boss felt that I was embarrassing him, and he followed me all the way and told me that many people were applying for the job. I said, let them do it. He said their salary was 800, and I said I wouldn’t accept one thousand. I did it, but the boss spat at me and hit me. Someone saw it and they asked me to call the police. I didn’t call the police, but this store is a black shop. Don’t go there easily. It’s so scary. Applied in this shop, the boss asked me to show him how to clean the table, and how to hold six plates including bowls and cups and spoons in one hand, the salary was eight pounds per hour, I said sorry, this job is not suitable for me, I left, and then the boss felt that I made him lose face, followed me along the way, saying that many people apply, I said, then you let them do it. He said they pay 800, I said 1000 I do not do, the result of the boss spit on me and beat me, there are witnesses, people told me to call the police, I did not call the police, but this shop is black, do not go easily. It's so scary.

Got to be the worst restaurant I’ve ever been to. Was bearly any food at the buffet and if there was it was cold. Service was absolutely a 0.5/10 it was terrible had to wait 25 minutes for curry sauce and had to pay over £5 each for a coke . AVOID

Been coming here for years and I can say I am absolutely appalled by the food it was shocking, everything was cold when it came out, the duck was basically cremated the curry was watery and the list goes on, the staff are very rude then have an audacity to slap on a service fee when they don’t even provide a good service! They need a new chef or they need to do something different because it was awful

Very limited parking onsite but there are plenty residential areas nearby. The place is very big and can cater for large scale events. Food is decent but there isn't another in the area so you can get your Chinese food fix here.

Eaten here on numerous occasions and ordered takeaway a few times and it’s up there with the best Chinese I’ve ever had. My partner, family and friends all agree. The food is fresh and so tasty, there’s a huge variety to choose from and the all you can eat price is very reasonable for what you get. The only downside is that the service can be a slow some times but the food makes up for it.

PLEASE DO NOT BUY ROAST DUCK FROM HERE AS IT NOT ROAST DUCK BUT BOILED DUCK NASTY AND TASTELESS.

DO NOT GO HERE. The whole place was chaos and the staff were so rude, shouting at customers. We waited 30 mins to be seated before they sat a group of 10 before us. The waiter kept justifying it by saying "It's 10!" There was a private booking going on and the manager was arguing with the customer as they clearly had an understanding that they'd booked out the whole venue but the rest of the restaurant had hoards of people standing around in chaos waiting for a table!

Forget about having dinner here. Absolutely abysmal quality, below par, expensive and zero atmosphere. On site car parking was a mess - the management saw fit to block customers' vehicles in. For this price point you may as well commute into Chinatown and paint the town red.

I stumbled on this place last week when in the area and HAD to return again today for the Dim Sum.. Hong Kong City has a FULL dim sum menu that even puts some of China towns dim sum restaurants to shame. Very well priced, freshly made and delicious.... I'll be back at the same time next Thursday... 😋😋

I always love coming here to dine in and always enjoy all their food! I recommend this restaurant if the food are fitted for their price. Staffs are super friendly and treat me super well! Lots of parking space to park. I’ll always come back with high expectation

Haven’t been here for many years (when dim sum was only around £2-3 range!) and I heard it’s now under new management. A very quiet day for the business today. Very empty even around 1pm but from what I know this restaurant is usually packed during the weekends. Food is pretty good for the price at £4.80-£6 per steamer. However, various meats were a bit on the red side even though they were fully cooked - over marinated? Staff were friendly. Fried beef ho-fun had good “wok hey”, however the noodles were a bit too “al dente”, beef wasn’t dry which is good. The Vietnamese spring rolls, prawn cheung fun and fried cuttlefish cake were pretty good. Peashoot prawn dumplings were good. Overall not much overpowering flavours, not too salty, not much msg. The restaurant floor could do with a bit of cleaning.

Go during Mon - Sat for dim sum. Lots off families go on Sunday. Food was decent, not high end but reasonably delicious. The fried food was not too heavy - especially the squid. Recommend to get the dough Cheung fun and try the Thai style chicken feet! Expect to pay around £30-£35 per person.

Good Chinese food for money you pay very nice professional staff. Maybe the interior needs an update.

Food was very tasty, but for sure wasn't really fresh. The service was so so, just the last waitress was nice just smiling and helping us. We asked for recommendations and specialities and they don't even understand us. The atmosphere was weird, quiet, not music or anything, empty place, just 2 tables eating and the menu a bit confusing.

Staff were really friendly and efficient, the price was really reasonable and the restaurant is really nice once you’re inside. But I’m mainly leaving this review because of the food; I’ve eaten in a LOT of Chinese restaurants and I have to say this is some of the best food I’ve had. There were 7 people in our party and every one of us agreed the food was exceptional. We were all very happy. Thanks Hong Kong City.

This isn’t a place that would get 5 stars for decor with its cheesy neon signs and ageing interior, but the food is top quality. Friendly staff and decent pricing all come together to make an enjoyable evening of delicious eating. Great for sharing especially with kids who love Chinese. Recommended.

We had dim sum here on a Sunday. The prices have shot up (as has everywhere else) but still slightly more affordable than Chinatown. Some highlights were the fried squid and beef ho fun. Service has also gone downhill. There were plenty of tables available even during peak time on Sunday, which was a sad sight as the place used to be bustling. Parking remains an issue, limited spaces.

I have been there a few times 2 decades ago whilst in Uni, it was better than it was yesterday but over the years I've been to several oriental restaurants and in comparison. They're just okay 👍

Dim Sum: slightly cheaper than other restaurants; some r nicely done, some aren't, 50/50 Vibe: Perfect phoenix & dragon deco + red head tables wedding banquet setting, which is disappearing even in Hong Kong Service: though most of them don't chat in Cantonese (i.e. floor not serviced by Hong Kongers/sb from a Cantonese background), the efficiency resembles that of Hong Kong; won't interact much with diners unless u actively ask (what some might find cold/inattentive); tablecloth might be stained; WC is wet and might smell a bit... nevertheless, it's all these little imperfections that bring out the Hong Kongness of this restaurant. I'd rather have them keep everything as is

Too much Christmas Turkey saw us head to HK City for some Boxing Day Dim Sum and so glad we did - the food was exceptional and I can really recommend this place. Inside is cavernous with full tables of young and old Asians, with many multi- generational families - it was really buzzy. The Dim Sum is great and comes quickly, the cheung-fung is top notch.

Our first time here but won’t be the last. The menu is varied and includes a great range of dim sum. We had the roast duck and chicken combo and it was excellent, really good flavours. The fried rice was fresh and light and not at all greasy. Finished with a serve of fresh and well cooked Chinese broccoli. Everything was excellent. Possibly the best choice of wine to suit everyone but what’s on offer is well priced. Definitely recommended.

When we arrived we was told that the prices had gone up again and the new menu was all you can eat for £20 a person. We ordered a mixture of six different dishes and a couple cokes, as we eat we realises there’s a birthday party going on and wanted to take our food home, as I went over by the kitchen to ask for our take away containers I saw the manager whom is semi elderly Asian man spit in a soup he was preparing to bring out, I immediately told him and everyone that could hear that I saw him do this and they asked me to pay for my food and leave, I went over and told the birthday party behind what had happened along with everyone else in the restaurant and we all decided to leave. The bill they tried to charge me was for £67 :s - i paid £20 x 2 for the food so £40 and gave him another £5 for the cokes- total amount £45. So they tried to charge me a extra £25 because I caught them. NEVER VISIT THIS PLACE ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING.

Food is absolutely disgusting. Chicken was raw. Service was terrible. Never experienced such rudeness in my life. There was poor lobsters swimming in green water with a full Resturant view. £20 per person for all you can eat, however paid nearly £68 for two people plus two cokes :/ AVOID AVOID AVIOD!!!!

A family of thirty attended the restaurant which was previously booked 2 weeks prior. We started arriving but I don't think they realised we were a family of colour. The manager demanded to speak to my son and said the charge has gone up for our tables as he doesn't know if we will pay. He was the only one who started shouting and being very rude. We just wanted to know why the sudden change. We sat down and waited for our food. I went to the gents when I witnessed the same manager cough on the plates of food he was carrying, watched it being placed on one of our tables and with that we left. Never in my life have I witnessed such bigotry in a restaurant and want others to realise it's not all its seems with people of colour if your face doesn't fit. It was all about money in this circumstance.

If I could give a rating less than 1 then I would. The visit itself was manic and extremely disappointing. My friend and I visited with our daughters and noticed immediately that the staff were extremely rude, unfriendly and unhelpful. Due to a wedding they had music on (techno music), however the music gradually became louder and louder and in the end so noisy we were unable to hold a conversation as we couldn’t hear each other. We had to get out of our seats in order for us to get service as all staff would walk by, even when they saw you trying to get attention. When we mentioned we wanted the buffet they made our daughters stand up in the middle of the restaurant, and measured them to make sure they’re not over the child’s height. They’re 9 & 10 and both felt extremely embarrassed about having to do it. After food we wanted to leave ASAP due to such a bad experience, but again we kept being ignored. We then had to get up and walk around trying to find someone so we could pay the bill. Bill paid and left, however a couple of days later noticed that the full bill amount had been taken twice. I called them and they asked to send over proof so sent a screenshot of account, they then said wasn’t good enough so took statement to the shop and again was told this was not good enough and they need to wait for the manager. It went back and forth for about half an hour, and ended in them refusing to refund my money, despite me physically taking the proof to the restaurant myself and told me if they do refund it will take 2 weeks. In the end I had to contact my bank to get my money returned as Hong Kong city refused to help and refund my money. NEVER AGAIN!

Come here for my daughter’s birthday food was cooked quick and was tasty, the customer service was great and we was very satisfied with our visit and will be returning.

Four of us went for a birthday buffet meal. Staff were very helpful & attentive. We had lots starters like Chicken Satay & Duck Pancakes & Ribs. Mains were Sweet & Sour Chicken, Chicken Curry & Shredded Chilli Beef. All cooked very nice. Can't wait to return again for a feast. Recommended.

Very spaces Oriental restaurant serving great Chinese foods, buffet all you can eat with reasonable price. They have range of drinks including alcohol. Friendly Vietnamese & Chinese staffs, location isn't great but if you have car you may find off street parking, bus stop nearby, nearest station is New Cross London. Wheelchair accessible, toilet for male / female separately but not clean, they accept wedding/ birthday/ anniversary celebrations up to 40 tables with karaoke. It's sad due to COVID-19 the town is lockdown again. Therefore we order takeaway foods from HK city.
