Decent priced drinks, completely let down by the absolutely stupid rule of no mobile devices allowed on the premises, had 1 drink and left.

Would be a 0 - got shouted at just getting my phone out my pocket, felt like i was in school when its supposed to be a place to relax! My pint tasted like vinegar and they refused to change it! Also tried to play with the dominos and they were sticky and disgusting! They should be trying to keep the handful of customers they have, not being incredibly rude!!

Sunday roast, 10/11/19 Very little pork, only three small slices, one of which was the end slice of the joint so was hard. The meat was also cold. I asked for apple sauce and was told “sorry, we’ve run out”. The shop next door (less than thirty metres away) sells apple sauce. Stuffing wasn’t even roasted so was like a lump of clay. Roast potatoes were barely roasted- not crispy at all. Carrots weren’t peeled. Peas were hard. Cabbage wasn’t sliced so huge leaves splashed the (very lumpy) gravy everywhere. The cauliflower was nice, as was the Yorkshire pudding. The mash was nice too, but I think it was smash. £8.95 The draconian mobile phone prohibition meant that while I waited for my food, instead of reading the news, all I had to entertain me was staring at the wall whilst listening to other customers talking about how stupid the ban is. Depressing.

Visited for the first time, and am appalled by the actiòns and attitude of the Bar staff, or management? Couldn't tell who was who? On being served with a pint, that was only three quarters full! my mobile bleeped ( in my pocket) on hearing this one of the Bar started shouting at the top of her voice, switch off your phone or get out with it. She then dashed across the bar to inflict some more verbal abuse, shouting cant you read the Signs, whilst raising her voice once again (I had not noticed the signs). I pointed out to her that she was unacceptably rude, and left. She couldn't care less whether I visit again or not. This is the type of welcome you will receive should you ever visit this awful place.

I suffer from b.p.d and anxiety and I use to sit on the same bench outside always at a set time. Now thanks to Carl and Lynne and the regulars I often take time to sit inside and have actual conversation.

It is extremely rare for me to visit this pub, but I have done so occasionally over many years. Yesterday (25.05.19) was such an occasion. Not including the hotels in the area, this is the closest pub to Moorgate. If you are wanting a quiet pub ie no music, this will fit the bill. There is one tap room, and two quieter rooms that are obviously more tranquil. I've always found the latter to be quite pleasant and relaxing. The rooms appear to be decked out with pine, and are very clean with comfortable seating. Being a Sam Smiths pub, the price of bitter (which is what I drink) is reasonable- currently £2 for a pint. If you are intending driving here for just one pint only-DON'T. The taste of this beer is awsome and you could easily be tempted to drink more in my opinion. There is an outside drinking area with solid wooden tables/benches, and the usual car park. Visiting from out of town: Although it could be described as being on a bus route, buses along Broom Valley Road are not very frequent, but there is a fix for this. The quicker access is to catch a bus to Moorgate Rd, and walk for 6 minutes down Burnswick Rd. The pub is located at the bottom, off the small traffic island.

Been coming to the New Broom now for a couple of weeks with my fiancé and find it very welcoming and friendly always good conversation with the locals and never any trouble . We decided to try the Sunday roast yesterday and it never failed we thought it was delicious 😋 fresh vegetables and a good selection of them too roast beef was so tender and the onion gravy was to die for we will be certainly be back for more of these . My fiancé and I decided to go back up today for a few drinks and something to eat so Steven ordered the beer battered fish and chips and I ordered Liver and onions I have to say presentation was great and the meals were just as good as yesterday . This was defenatly the best liver and onions I have ever tasted I will be ordering this dish again soon . Nothing is ever too much trouble as the land lady and lord will go out of there way to make your dining experience a memorable one that’s why we came back the day after . Well done to all the staff and regulars that have welcomed us we will defenatly be back on regular occasions especially for food ❤️

The New Broom has always been a bit marmite. The back room has been a bit rough, and the front room a bit quiet and full of old fogies. The beer, however, has always been good - and cheap too, thanks to this being a Sam Smiths pub. Recently though, they've started doing Sunday lunch. I was sceptical at first, being a bit of a food snob, but honestly - it's genuinely marvellous. Tons of veg and meat and only a fiver. The first few visits were marred by tough meat but now it's really soft and tender - outstanding. It is truly a pleasure to head to the Broom for a sunday dinner these days. Who'd a thought it?
