Nemo Fish & Chips in Monmouthshire

During a day trip we had a lunch break and for a some reason we decided to choose this restaurant - a big mistake! I had chips & chicken burger. The chips were uneatable and the burger was dry as hell and the patty straight from box. Even a little child could make a better one. We had one bottle of soda and they charged it twice. Crappy place.

Service was great to be honest, portions were satisfactory. The fish and chips very very good HOWEVER 24 hours later the 3 of us ended up in hospital with confirmed food poisoning. We started feeling bad around 14 hours later and hadn't had anything else at all. Probably the fish but at the time of eating it tasted great and nothing suspicious.

Disappointed with the portion, payed 12.50 for chips cheese and gravy and cake in a small open container, chips overcooked more crispy ones than normal , wouldn’t go again!

First impressions weren't great, all the outside tables were dirty and no one cleared the many dirty plates on them. Staff seemed overwhelmed and unprepared. Our fish&chips took much longer than expected. The fish itself was suprisingly good, the chips were stale and mushy, the mushy peas were unseasoned and mealy. Overall, an unsatisfying meal in an untiday environment.

Have to put a score of one no other choice - I went there as I have been and always enjoyed food - I was mocked and talked about as I left ! Think the lad called his friend they were laughing at me - disgusting

First time we have visited this Fish and Chip cafe’/ restaurant I had an excellent Cod , Chips and curry sauce, my wife had a pizza slice and a basket of chips Both meals excellent value for money Staff were pleasant, friendly and hardworking One tea and one latte, with change out of £25 great value as well Would definitely recommend

Was suppose to be open until 6pm went there at 5pm it was sit workers were walking emptying the bins to the skip. I said suppose to be open until 6pm. Not good for business very disappointed.

Feeling the need to have something hot with our sandwiches on a cold and rainy day, we popped here for a portion of chips to share back in our camper van. While they seemed pricey, it was a large portion (for a medium) and satisfied our need for something hot to eat. 

Visited 4th august and the young lass with dark hair and glasses was so rude. She flung the fish and chips at us in a tray, I asked for it to be in a tray with a lid to takeaway and she was so annoyed, we got half the portion of fish and chips to what we did the last time, bearing in mind they aren’t cheap. We went Sunday and the lad serving was lovely but even went we went in and ordered she was just rude then. I wouldn’t have her working for me, her attitude absolutely stunk. On retuning to our caravan, the chips were cold and hard and the fish wasn’t very nice at all. Different again from what its usually like. We won’t be returning which is a shame as this is our regular when we holiday in north wales

Stopped here on holiday. Staff were confused , not interest in serving customers, unable to follow orders in chronological order and generally not fussed. We waited over 10 minutes to get 2 portions of chips whilst customers who placed their orders after us left with their order (more complicated than just chips). I raised this with the server and was then handed one ok portions and then what I discovered once left a portion with mainly scraps rather than proper chips and swimming in oil. Think twice before you order from here!!!!

Lunch on a Tuesday. Joined a rather long queue, which moved exceptionally slowly - 35 minutes to be served. However, the wait was worthwhile as the fish and chips were delicious. The fish and batter were seasoned which added flavour. Clean, white tasty fish beautifully cooked in a crispy batter. If you can be patient in the queue, you won't be disappointed.

What a ‘rip off’. Ordered 2 cappuccino one with an extra shot. They charged me £1.70 for an espresso instead . When I questioned them they just shrugged their shoulders and said that’s what they charge for an extra shot. I will never go there again or recommend the place.

Friendly staff. Tea, coffee and tray bakes very tasty. Seating area clean and tidy. Our dog had a cool rest indoors. Will come again

Food was ok enough… But unbelievably expensive for what we were buying! I could eat in at Trenchers in Whitby for about the same! No wonder everybody was queuing at the pizza place at the end of the run. Spend your money there. For 3 people I paid over £40! Could be so much better and the locals and visitors alike deserve a far better fish and chip shop than this.

Because it was raining today (Wednesday), me and Hubby decided to eat in at the Cafe adjoining the chip shop. We both chose a (smal)l cheese toastie and a (small) basket of chips plus a cup of tea. The bill came to a total of £17.90 (card payment accepted). The prices on the menu have obviously increased since we last dined here but the light lunch was hot and satisfying. The staff were friendly. The premises were clean.

The chip are grey the sausage had bits on bone in. Over priced for the indigestion caused! Never again!

Well overpriced, there was more air in the carton than food, girl behind counter served me with open wound on her hand and she did not listen and seemed to be faw away. This establishment seems to cater for the visitors and holiday season, not the locals.

Couldn’t be bothered with customer service. We stood there for ages waiting for the young lad to even acknowledge us and when he did it was as if we were an annoyance. 12.20 and nothing ready. He sorted the cafe order still not even looking up at us then when we asked for our order 4 x fish and chips and a fish butty he said they don’t do fish butties?!! Don’t pay the tourist tax and avoid this for £10 a meal. Not worth it at all. Others a short drive or walk away.

This establishment was previously one big cafe known as the Spinnaker, and was very good. The menu was varied from snacks to full meals and you were served by friendly waitresses. The quality of the food was excellent and the prices were fair. New ownership has completely changed the place, poor quality food and expensive. For light lunches, you have to queue to give your order ( I wrote a longer review under Spinnakers) and it was dreadful.

Abrupt staff. Food was decent but terrible portion sizes. The fish were tiny and thin, barely any meat to them. The large chips wasn’t remotely large. The meal below cost £24, shocking. I’ve seen bigger goldfish than these fish!

Average. Staff were not very friendly either. seating areas outside. charge you for ketchup and it's not even heinz! (sorry, I'm filling here as there is a 100 word minimum here)

Had lovely "pit stop" here while visiting Betws y Coed for the day. Added to that our granddaughter left her sun hat behind and when I phoned the next day the cafe owner Dawn agreed to post it back to me at her own cost!...
