I visited Neill's Hill Brasserie, and unfortunately, it was a deeply disappointing experience. We ordered the Neill's Hill Kitchen Carvery, and it was immediately apparent that the portion sizes were inconsistent. The table next to us, who also ordered the carvery, received significantly larger servings of everything. They were served so much that it required two separate trays, despite only having one extra person in their party compared to ours. It made us feel second class. It was glaringly obvious that they were receiving preferential treatment, likely due to being regular customers. The staff were incredibly attentive to them. This level of disparity in service and portion sizes is unacceptable, especially given the price point. I cannot recommend Neil's Hill Brasserie. Ballyhackamore has numerous other excellent dining options where your custom will be valued and treated fairly. Save your money and go elsewhere.

I adore this reatraunt and the staff. They are professional, accommodating and the food is amazing. The restraunt atmosphere is cosy but buzzing. Cocktails and coffee are fabulous. I sat this evening as a woman on her own and I felt so comfortable. I suggest everyone try this retraunt, meal for everyone. Owner, chef and staff are amazing. Thank you guys for another lovely meal. ❤️❤️

I ordered Halloumi Fries and they were good as I lived in the Middle East for over 25 years and Halloumi is very popular there. I ordered scampi and chips for £21.95 and I got 8 small scampis and I feel it was a waste of money for the small quantity of food for the price.

It was like being on holiday. Proper bistro dishes. I had steak, frite (flat iron steak and skinny fries as we say in Belfast). I think it was wild garlic butter I had with it, delicious like you can't imagine. Big glass of Spanish red wine. Oh and my wife had the (best burger ever). She had to drive, I suggest you fake an injury so you don't have to drive and have a glass of wine.

Nice place, but the vegan options weren't good. There was a soup starter which I would stay well away from and the only main, which was a chickpea curry, was disappointing. There was a nut roast on the menu but it wasn't available. The non-vegan options looked good.

Nunca he estado aquí, he venido con amigos.

We celebrated our daughter’s baptism with a group of 20 family and friends at Neill’s Hill. The service, food and atmosphere was absolutely first class. From our initial inquiry, the service which we received from Jonathan was professional and attentive and the team at Neill’s Hill couldn’t have done enough for us in terms of setting up the table with our decorations/balloons, personalising the set menu etc. On the day, Sarah Jane looked after our table and she was so attentive and friendly. We felt so well looked after by her and the rest of the team. Everyone in our party was so complimentary of the food which was fresh, well presented and generous in terms of portion size. We were pleasantly surprised by the value for money when we received the bill, considering the meal was prepared to such a high standard. I can’t recommend Neill’s Hill enough for family functions. We will certainly be back! Thank you!

The food is always excellent and there's a really good wine list. The Sunday Kitchen Carvery is simply fantastic. Three types of perfectly cooked meats with lots of veg, potatoes and generous amounts of gravy. We had a sticky toffee pudding, and a chocolate and toffee slice with raspberry sorbet for dessert. Both were excellent but special mention goes to the sorbet, sharp and full of flavour, a perfect compliment to the rich chocolate slice. Highly recommended

Staying locally on a weekend away, and booked an evening meal here, as the menu looked varied and to our tastes. Neil's did not disappoint, the food was delicious, we had bread and dips to start, and Spanish croquettes, which were fantastic, bread was warm, tasty tapenade. Mains we ordered the haddock and chips, and the spinach, sweet potato and chickpea curry, with rice poppadom and dips 10/10. Hubbie had a pear and almond tart for pud ,which was comforting, warm, and moist, went well with a dollop of cream and a must. The Mercia Spanish wine of the month was my favourite, smooth and light and I had 2, followed by raspberry vodka Collins (2) loved these. The staff were attentive and friendly, and the locals warm and welcoming, which is why we stayed linger than expected. The bill was so reasonable considering we had two courses each and 1 pud and 6 drinks £125 ( £70 on drinks) I thought it was more but who's complaining. Definitely book again when we return to Belfast...5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟😊

Wife and myself met with 2 friends for afternoon brunch. Met by waitress Ellen and another girl whose name I didn't catch. Directed promptly to our seats where our friends were already seated. Orders taken and drinks delivered promptly. Main courses (2x chicken schnitzel, 1 haddock & chips, 1x sea bass) arrived very quickly. Thankfully a large noisy group had just left so we were able to thoroughly enjoy our food that was very very tasty and amply portioned. We all commented how much we enjoyed. Another round of drinks and desserts ordered and equally delicious. (1x boozy brioche, 1 trio ice creams, and 1 cheese board (2 cheeses ordered) ) Really set off the afternoon which we all really enjoyed. Well done to waitress staff and chefs and management. Already hoping to get back, maybe the tapas night some Wednesday. All in bill was £152 excluding tip.

Tapas Night at Neill’s Hill, a neighbourhood restaurant in Ballyhackamore, runs every Wednesday until the end of August serving authentic Spanish small plates. We ordered a selection of sharing dishes, all of which were excellent. Olives with crumbled Manchego, and bread with aioli to accompany our superb cocktails while we waited at the bar for our table; we’d thoroughly recommend turning up a little early to perch at the bar, have a drink and a nibble, listen to some live music, and soak up the ambience. At the table, we had some roasted padron peppers, patatas bravas, whitebait, crispy squid with rocket & spicy mayo, fried halloumi with chilli jam, smoked salmon bruschetta, and a standout dish of smoky grilled octopus with potatoes and a paprika dressing, all washed down with a bottle of off-dry El Ninot de Paper Rosé. To finish, we enjoyed some irresistible Iberian sweet treats; pastel de nata served warm, and one of our favourite desserts- vanilla ice cream with boozy raisins and lashings of Pedro Ximenez! Simple yet utterly delicious! Neill’s Hill’s terrific, tasty Tapas, is accompanied by the musical talents of Los Dramaticos, transporting us to sunny Spanish climes. This incredibly popular theme night is only running until the end of August, so get your table booked!

Dined here and thought the food was a bit “comfort eating”, you know like something you’d cook at home instead of being restaurant food. The menu on a Saturday evening seemed limited, a couple of overpriced steak options but nothing exciting jumped off the menu at me. We both had the chicken wings as starters, very fiery sauce and precious little meat, £6.95 each portion. For mains we had battered haddock, only very lightly cooked, very pale and extremely small size (£18.95) and breadcrumbed breast of chicken in chorizo cream, this time a bigger portion but bland in taste. No doubt this is a successful restaurant but it occupies prime site in Ballyhackamore. Service was good, fairly fast and thankfully not constantly being checked upon.

We had the BBQ rack of ribs which were cooked to perfection. The meat was slow cooked and just fell off the bone. My partner had the aromatic rice bowl with chicken, which was packed with flavour. Absolutely delicious. But what was really refreshing, was that you were not being asked every 5 minutes "is everything ok"...they allow you to enjoy your meal. I visit Neills Hill more than any other restaurant in Belfast, as it is consistently a cut above establishments offering a similar cuisine and dining experience. In December, I went for a Christmas night out with my husband, sister-in-law and her partner. We all ordered from the 3-course set menu and selected different dishes across all three courses. Each of us was impressed with every dish, which is quite something nowadays! I ordered the vegetable broth and wheaten bread. The bread was fresh and had that homemade taste, whilst the soup was delicious and plentiful. My main was pork medallions, done in the most mouth-watering sherry, mushroom and leek sauce, accompanied by creamy mash. My dessert was the traditional Christmas pudding, which was so light. Often, they can be too dense and rich for my taste. Throughout the evening, the service was superior. Our water jug was continually topped up, without us having to ask. I must also note that, although I did not have it, the Christmas dinners, which were ordered by two of our party, were very generous portions, and both commented that everything was piping hot! No mean feat! All in all, an exceptional dining experience, with warm and attentive service. I've already booked to return for an anniversary meal and am very much looking forward to it.

My partner and I having had many enjoyable meals at Neill's Hill in the past, we were very disappointed by our evening meal on December 20. A large number of men and women at an adjacent table were making so much noise that I could barely hear what my partner was saying and we were having to shout. We ordered the beetroot & butternut squash wellington and were told it would take half an hour as it had to be cooked from scratch. When it arrived it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. Then when we ordered the chocolate tart for dessert we were told it wasn't available. At which point we decided to give up and leave. We did get a substantial discount on the bill.(We can't fault the wait staff, by the way, who were very friendly and welcoming).

The waitress who took our order was grumpy the young staff were very pleasant. Food was tasty and enjoyed by us all. Ordered steak. Was cooked correctly and tasted nice. But was coldish. That cold that it didn't even melt the garlic butter on top. For £28 for the steak alone I'd expect it to be warmer. My partners chicken dish looked nice and she said it was hot enough.

Love the food and staff here. Prices aren’t outrageous and you know you’ll get a decent meal whatever you order.

This is my favourite restaurant in the area! Called last minute for a table for 2 adults, one child. Got in for 8.15pm. (App didn't have that table, so glad I called) Food was Beaut with a capital B so much flavour. Staff, I think, are very friendly. Can see new people learning and the seasoned staff constantly walking around, checking all is good. I had the patè for starters and duck for main, and my wife had wings to start and pork for mains. My daughter had a starter of patè as well of the main menu and nuggets of kid's menu. Everyone loved their food!! (TIP - in only having a 1 or 2 dishes get an extra side, the meals are portioned for 3 courses) this is great if going for a few drinks after so not to full. Ended up having desert which really topped of the meal. Along with a couple of drinks each, the bill was £110. Thought that was a pretty standard bill for the type of meal. 10 out of 10 and definitely recommend!

Used to live fairly nearby and would've visited more regularly than I do now, but I always pop in when I'm in Belfast for appointments at the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald. Food is excellent, coffee is superb and the traybakes (particularly the caramelitas!) are unreal!! Luís (hopefully I have spelt his name correctly!) makes some of the best coffees in Belfast, and he is such a friendly and welcoming guy - G.M. ought to be very proud to have him!! Very easy to get to - country bound Glider stop across the road & just outside for city bound. Photo is of a pancake stack for Pancake Tuesday and it was top notch!! 🤠

We were there the day before Saint Patrick's Day, so along with the matches, there was a huge crowd and we stood for the first hour before nabbing a table. But service was good, music was nice. My husband ordered stew and probably because it was the end in the pot it was overly thick, but all in all a great night.

Went last night for our anniversary. Everything was fantastic - food, atmosphere, and staff, all amazing! First visit, but definitely won't be our last.
