Great veggie Sunday Roast with plenty of veg and nice gravy. Service is always good as it was last night. They do a nice pint and really lovely Marlborough Sauvignon.

First time at this venue, good food and choices for all ages and tastes. Nice location and simplistic decor. Staff/ service good aswell. Only complaint is much other tables mentioned also aboit the noise, was very loud compared to other restaurants which made conversations a little more difficult and communicating with staff. Think its the acoustics of the restaurant played a part.

We went as a family of four, every course was delicious, service was excellent and all good value for money. I would highly recommend

First time in neills Hill. Won't be the last. First impressions were excellent. Lovely, vibrant yet cosy premises Very warm and inviting. Staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. We had the BBQ rack of ribs which were cooked to perfection. The meat was slow cooked and just fell off the bone. My partner had the aromatic rice bowl with chicken, which was packed with flavour. Absolutely delicious. But what was really refreshing, was that you were not being asked every 5 minutes "is everything ok"...they allow you to enjoy your meal. That tells me they are confident in the quality of food and service. And rightly so. Loved it. Will be back, and will be recommending Neills Hill to everyone. ❤️

I visit Neills Hill more than any other restaurant in Belfast, as it is consistently a cut above establishments offering a similar cuisine and dining experience. In December, I went for a Christmas night out with my husband, sister-in-law and her partner. We all ordered from the 3-course set menu and selected different dishes across all three courses. Each of us was impressed with every dish, which is quite something nowadays! I ordered the vegetable broth and wheaten bread. The bread was fresh and had that homemade taste, whilst the soup was delicious and plentiful. My main was pork medallions, done in the most mouth-watering sherry, mushroom and leek sauce, accompanied by creamy mash. My dessert was the traditional Christmas pudding, which was so light. Often, they can be too dense and rich for my taste. Throughout the evening, the service was superior. Our water jug was continually topped up, without us having to ask. I must also note that, although I did not have it, the Christmas dinners, which were ordered by two of our party, were very generous portions, and both commented that everything was piping hot! No mean feat! All in all, an exceptional dining experience, with warm and attentive service. I've already booked to return for an anniversary meal and am very much looking forward to it.

My partner and I having had many enjoyable meals at Neill's Hill in the past, we were very disappointed by our evening meal on December 20. A large number of men and women at an adjacent table were making so much noise that I could barely hear what my partner was saying and we were having to shout. We ordered the beetroot & butternut squash wellington and were told it would take half an hour as it had to be cooked from scratch. When it arrived it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. Then when we ordered the chocolate tart for dessert we were told it wasn't available. At which point we decided to give up and leave. We did get a substantial discount on the bill.(We can't fault the wait staff, by the way, who were very friendly and welcoming).

The service is just next level. Impeccable. Nothing is too much hassle. Gorgeous Xmas roast. I wasn’t a fan of my vege option- and said nothing. But they noticed it left on my plate and deducted it from bill. Gorgeous cocktails and desserts too. Lovely atmosphere too.

We were here on Saturday and the food was amazing. I have quite a few food allergies and the waitress was great and made sure everything was ok for me to eat. I'm looking forward to going back soon.

Just home after a lovely Saturday brunch with friends. We were celebrating a special Birthday as well. Food and service was excellent but what made this restaurant stand out was its staff. Our waitress went above and beyond to make our time very special. She knew all our orders , took photographs ( umpteen !) and even put a candle on the Birthday girl’s desert. Unfortunately didn’t get her name but thank you so so much for making our day. Can’t wait to return

A very popular place for lunch, would recommend you book a table. I can see why, the food was lovely and well presented. The service was just nice - there when you needed them, but did not rush you.

Neills Hill is a wonderful restaurant in Ballyhackamore. It’s been around a while and deserves its reputation as one of East Belfasts finest eateries. Fine varied menu and if I ring in advance they can help adjust a dish to help you. I do this by removing an ingredient from my fav prawn starter

Good service and a straightforward menu.. Portions a little small for some of our party. The desert was very good, a partial disassembled cake.

Booked table for 11.15, looked at menus we were asked if we wanted to order drinks, we said we would rather wait until we had our food. We asked if we could order food but were told kitchen was too busy (there was a party of 8 in but restaurant was half empty) so we had to wait a further 15 mins which we didn't mind as we were all chatting. The waitress who took our order was grumpy the young staff were very pleasant. Food was tasty and enjoyed by us all. We were asked if we would like to order more drinks which we did, once they came the same waitress came and told us our table was needed in 10 mins, had we known this we would not have ordered more drinks which we had to rush. I understand table turn around but it was not our fault that our order was not taken on time because kitchen too busy.

Popped in early on a Saturday night - they were clearly very popular but managed to squeeze us in. By the time we left they were completely full. Lovely friend staff, good menu, kids menu for the little ones. Quick service, tasty food, sensibly priced. Happily go back again

Lovely food and great staff. Always very friendly and professional. Had the tempura broccoli rice bowl, kids fish and chips and burger and chips. All very yummy. Definitely my favourite place in Ballyhack.

This is my favourite restaurant in the area! Called last minute for a table for 2 adults, one child. Got in for 8.15pm. (App didn't have that table, so glad I called) Food was Beaut with a capital B so much flavour. Staff, I think, are very friendly. Can see new people learning and the seasoned staff constantly walking around, checking all is good. I had the patè for starters and duck for main, and my wife had wings to start and pork for mains. My daughter had a starter of patè as well of the main menu and nuggets of kid's menu. Everyone loved their food!! (TIP - in only having a 1 or 2 dishes get an extra side, the meals are portioned for 3 courses) this is great if going for a few drinks after so not to full. Ended up having desert which really topped of the meal. Along with a couple of drinks each, the bill was £110. Thought that was a pretty standard bill for the type of meal. 10 out of 10 and definitely recommend!

Ordered steak. Was cooked correctly and tasted nice. But was coldish. That cold that it didn't even melt the garlic butter on top. For £28 for the steak alone I'd expect it to be warmer. My partners chicken dish looked nice and she said it was hot enough.

Food was amazing. Had flat iron steak, baby boiled potatoes & broccoli. My son said it was the tenderest steak he ever had. Will definitely be back again.

Sorry I got a fish supper on the way home, we had a main and desert. The steak was nice but no trimmings, the desert was lovely 😋. Spoke to the manager on the way out and he looked at me from my feet to my head took my money and walked away. We have ate in here a lot over the years £100 for dinner and still hunger not good. Eat before you go.

Here for a birthday brunch and drinks with 8 people and a baby. Lovely spot. Food was truly delicious and well portioned and reasonably priced. Service was friendly and prompt. Had the big bap and shared some bacon and maple waffles, devoured both, really really tasty. Drinks were good, cocktails were lovely! Really recommend the Hugo Sprits. Quiet atmosphere around lunch time with good potential for a lively dinner and drinks. Well priced considering the service, location and quality.

Called in Sunday without reservation and was squeezed in. Had the carvery and the beef was the best beef I have tasted in a long time. The staff were lovely and attentive. Was very reasonably priced as well. Will definitely be back

Excellent food and service but a little bit noisy.

We were recommended to come here and we are so glad we did , the food is outstanding , It was lovely that top chef Cathy took time to say hi . I had a Sirloin steak which was cooked to perfection . The ambiance of the place is lovely. All the staff made ensure we had a good visit ..and by golly we did ! WE WILL BE BACK!

Fab restaurant. We went on a Sunday at 2pm. Very busy but staff were very attentive, we were not left sitting for a long time. Sunday lunch was amazing! Served quickly, hot food, hot plates, gravy was separate but lots of it and big portions! Beef is offered pink or well done and it was perfect! Starter and desert was perfect size! Not overly expensive about £37 a head for a 3 course meal!

This was our second time visiting this restaurant. The first was a few years ago and I have to say we really were not impressed, first things first they said we had the table until 8pm and we didn’t even get served our food until 730pm giving us 30 minutes to eat and drink? Once our food came out the chips were undercooked, hard not nice to eat at all. My peer got the battered haddock and in his words “you cannot even taste the fish in this”. I got the sirloin steak asked for medium rare, it was not cooked to medium rare it was over cooked. The garlic on my chunky chips wasn’t garlicky at all was just oily and again the chips were undercooked. My other peer also got the sirloin steak only asked for garlic butter on top and it was pure green and she said it did not taste right at all. There was a group of about 18 of us and every single person who got chips they were undercooked. The menu we were given hadn’t changed since we were in the restaurant years ago. I will not be returning to this restaurant can find better steak and chips in belfast city centre and for cheaper overrated and overpriced!

This must be the most overrated restaurant I’ve ever known. It’s always packed. Yet the food is always.. just ok. Was part of a group of 10 and not one person said they loved the food. Each said it was fine. Chicken wings were nice and decent starters but the seabass dish is bland. Steaks were ok but not much on plate. So expensive too! Not impressed but the decor and restaurant atmosphere is nice and staff are brilliant

Great service and delicious food. We ordered two courses from the set menu (Tuesday to Thursday) which is very good value. I have food allergies and I was reassured that my food choices were suitable and that care would be taken in the kitchen.

Food was lovely, however forgot to give us our roast potatoes which we didn't notice until almost finished. Apologised but no other effort to make up for it.

Neill’s Hill Restaurant-Tapas Night. Neill’s Hill, a neighbourhood restaurant in Ballyhackamore, has an informal, casual vibe with a modern interior featuring art work from local illustrator Peter Strain. It delivers a classic restaurant menu with small plates, local cuts, fresh fish, and a dedicated vegan menu. Tapas Nights run every Wednesday until September with an authentic Spanish small plates menu. We ordered a selection of sharing dishes, all of which were delicious; bread with aioli, roasted padron peppers, patatas bravas, cauliflower wings with garlic and chilli dressing, cheesy polenta chips with pesto, whitebait, crispy paprika squid with rocket, and smoked salmon & cream cheese pintxo. To finish, there are some irresistible Iberian sweet treats-pastel de nata, and churros with chocolate sauce. We also had a couple of rather fabulous cocktails; a tangy Grapefruit Gimlet and a Vietnamese Coffee-a modern, creamy twist on an espresso martini. Muchísimas Gracias to Neill’s Hill’s terrific, tasty Tapas, and the rather excellent Matt & Joe for creating the perfect musical ambience, all of which cleverly combined to transport us from rainy Belfast to sunnier Spanish climes.

I've been eating here for years and have never had a bad meal. The steaks in particular are easily the best I've ever had.

A superb place to eat. I've been here about 5 times now and it's always been good. But today they really blew me away! The ratatouille I had was incredible. The moment it hit my tongue I experienced a total taste sensation! The skinny fries were very crispy and the portion size was generous. Excellent friendly prompt service. I can't think of any way it could have been better except maybe a slight delay in being brought the payment machine. That's really scraping the barrel for criticism! If you like their menu you won't be disappointed.

What a great place to eat. Went in as a group of nine - the service was very attentive and quick. All nine meals received great comments from the fish dishes / ribs /hamburgers & steak. Watch out for the dessert menu and pick the cheesecake. Never tasted anything better - it was amazing. Thank you all - will definitely be back.

Unfortunately we didn't enjoy our brunch here today. Booked for my partner on Father's Day with our kids... I had reserved the table for 10:45am and unfortunately we were running a little late so I rang ahead and explained apologetically to them that we may be about 10 minutes late. The girl seemed fine about this but also had to warn me that our table still had to be returned for 12:15. I found this OK as we just wanted a quick brunch anyway. "Quick" was probably too assuming lol. We arrived about 10.55, didn't receive our food until about 11.35. I usually don't mind waiting if a place seems busy or has takeaway orders to contend with but that really wasn't the case here. There were only about 5 other tables in the place and most of them were already eating. No idea how it takes 40 minutes to make some bacon and eggs. Kids were bored and grumpy, but trying to keep them entertained stuck at a boring table for 40 mins is virtually impossible lol clearly this is not the restaurants fault (we'll leave them at home next time!) but some crayons or something would have at least kept them occupied in the mean time. Fathers Day and high chairs means children! Anyway, we were about to just ask for the bill to pay for the drinks so we could leave then the food arrived. Had to eat it in a rush as we were most likely being timed to get the table back for 12:15... thankfully we were starving and couldn't wait to get out of there anyway. Very unimpressed with the food too unfortunately. Partner said there were caramelised onions on his dish but they were burnt and made the whole meal just taste like charred burnt oil (floating in whatever sauce it was served with... balsamic? a mystery glaze.. no mention of it on menu). My sourdough with aubergine and beans/mint not much better... sorry but I can't for the life of me understand how anyone can charge 8 quid for ONE piece of bread lol. Thankfully I ordered a poached egg and bacon as extras (more £££) which made the meal a bit more substantial... wouldn't say the same for the whole bag of green salad poured on top, something else not mentioned on the menu. I guess this was to make it look like more than it actually was? Didn't work. Salad thrown to the side, ate my depressing single slice of bread in a rush and paid the 8 quid for it with gritted teeth. The staff were fine. But the atmosphere a bit pretentious and stuffy, no ambience or atmosphere - just a lot of loud poncey chatter. Any wonder my 3 year old was trying to get off his chair and make a break for it lol. Won't be back, with children or not. Think next Father's Day will be a good affordable fry up cooked at home!

This is our favourite restaurant in Ballyhackamore. Johnathan the owner is a natural restaurateur having been brought up in the business. The food is always first class. Our favourite are the Tapas evenings as we really like the variety this style of eating allows. The music provided by Los Dramaticos cap it off. If you haven't tried it your missing out.

Food amazing menu changes frequently. Veg meals very good and they make a good passion fruit cocktail.

Lovely welcoming restaurant with friendly staff. Arrived without a booking midweek and they found us a table promptly. Varied choice on menu and tasty well presented food. Reasonable priced drinks.

Went on a Wednesday, Tapas night. Highly recommend. Everything was great just wanted the pork belly to have the fat a little crisper. Apart from that lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, good drink selection and the best Patatas Bravas I have had in a long time.

Warm friendly staff with an amazing breakfast menu. The Irish breakfast was so lovely as was the coffee. Also very nice to venture outside of the city centre. A must visit which is open all day.

Everything about this restaurant is perfect. The atmosphere, presentation, prices, food, portion sizes, service, i could go on and on. If you want a great menu with massive variety here’s the place to go. The kids menu as well has great portions (not too big, not too small) with a wide variety of foods that any kid would love. If I could give this 100 stars I would!

Enjoyed a delicious sea bass main for lunch. Served on a bed of lentils and prawns. So well seasoned with hints of spices. Service attentive. All excellent and will definitely return. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Bit of a treat going here for a family meal, more than we would usually spend but happy to do so. We were able to order from the main, set and kids menu. Food was lovely, good sized portions. Staff were really attentive and helpful. Vegan and vegetarian options available. Only issue was parking nearby for someone with mobility issues

Just had a lunch with friends for my husband’s birthday. The service was good and good choice on the menu, including gluten free for me. Highly recommend.

Kept putting off visiting, but I'm glad that I did. You can see why the place is still going strong after all these years. The staff were friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and the food was stellar. I'll be back again, making any excuse to bring some friends or family.

Nice midweek dinner options. 2 course option good value on Monday to Thursday.

Went for brunch. Well thought out and extensive menu that will cater most tastes. Fair pricing and quality ingredients. Trumps some of its cringy pretentious neighbours in the area by just being a nice place to eat without needing a picture of "edgy" tattooed hand showing you a plate of eggs.

Had a lovely breakfast here and probably the best scone I’ve ever had. Bought several to go and these were excellent as well. Will be back if I’m ever in Belfast. Love the portraits of local artists and writers displayed on the wall. Excellent service.

Visiting the area for work and came with a colleague. Can be very stressful finding good gluten free food but this was incredible! Had the crispy squid, sea bass and apple fritters, repeatedly reassured about them being gluten free and some of the nicest food I have eaten anywhere! Very reasonably priced too especially for the amazing quality of food

On Thursday 13th October I had booked a table for 3 for lunch. On arrival the table had been prepared and reserved for us. The greeting by the staff was the usual Polite, Friendly and chatty. So welcoming ons a busy day. We were shown to our table and within two minutes a waitress came with menus and took a drink order. Also she brought a bottle of cool stiff water to wrench our thirst. The drink order came within 5 minutes and we gave our food menu. The waitresses could see from a distance we were still choosing and didn't bother until she saw us put the Menu Down. Such a variety, everything from steaks, to chicken, to fish, vegaterian, a selection of starters, I knew from visiting on Sundays I could choose a special which had a choice and all three of us had a varied main choice, Neill Burger, Tai Chicken dish and the most delicious fish dish in the most tasty sauce. You could not beat the service in such a short time and it was piping hot. Delicious. The breads came which was plenty for the three of us and a selection of four breads, butter and two spreads, so tasty. They came during each course to see if everything was ok. But of course it was perfect. We appreciated them checking. After the main meal, we were full and went straight for coffees and the most delicious with extras, hot milk for my americano, flat white and cold milk for the other americano . There was non pressure on us to leave and they allowed us as much time. I went to pay and was greeted and asked was it ok. Well of course it was Five star. I could not believe how reasonable the entire meal and drinks were. I expected it to be more by £40. There was plenty of change out of £70 and a worthy tip called for food such excellent service and quality of meal. I have frequented for breakfast, morning coffees, lunches, afternoons teas and dinners especially on a Sunday a very reasonable carver option and again plenty of choice. The staff politeness and intent they show and unobtrusive chat is so welcoming. I keep going back. Well why wouldn't you as there is such a variety of meals and drinks, cocktails that it is so varied you could choose something different for a month before choosing the same again. I must give credit to the staff, the cleanliness, the atmosphere and above all the quality of food, the chef must be complimented for the variety and presentation and always piping hot. The fact that we are treated as if we were the only ones, yet due to the popularity I would suggest booking on line. They send you an email before you come as a reminder. The quality similar to the Culloden at a fifth of the price. In these difficult times, prices have not gone up as in other places or shops. Portions have NOT got smaller and you come away always full. Give it a go and you certainly won't be disappointed. I have NEVER had any issue at any time. Book it now.

Went for brunch Sat last, great breakfast, eggs benidict very good, and a lovely pint of peroni for afters . Good start for a day out. The service was friendly and quick as always. Could be tempted with this every weekend !.

I went to Neill’s Brasserie for a meal on the 2nd October 2022. The staff were very helpful & showed me the menu. They also showed me where I could put my coat. They also gave me some help when ordering my meal & asked me what I would like to drink. When, I had finished my meal, one of the staff, helped me with the bill. I payed by way of contactless means, which means you can pay by using A Master Card. It is important that you pre-book by phone, so as to make sure you’ll be able to get a table reserved for you. Had my sons 18th birthday dinner there ,was a party of 22 people, service was brilliant, starters, main, dessert all came out on time, no one was having to wait on food and food was delicious as always ,one of my favourite places to go and very friendly staff as always .

Food was very nice staff just ok not very friendly(boys)as for the bill it was over charge by £80.50 at that stage staff were not very nice 😕 would I recommend not sure food was good but the staff were terrible and that ruined our evening ☹☹

Friendly and helpful staff. Best fish and chips ever. The batter was so light and crispy; the fish itself perfectly cooked. Husband declared his burger the best he’d had in a very long time. Highly recommended.
