The food is always very good in Narenj. Very delicious mains and starters. Various kabobs are normally my favourites. Also, on Sundays, Baghali polo and lamb shank is a must. Service is always very friendly, polite and efficient. Food is always freshly prepared, so don’t expect fast food.

The main server has no idea about customer service, when asked about making a dish more spicy he said no we can't do that, we'll give you some chilli sauce on the side, but the way he said it was so rude, he could have been more polite, the way he changed his face as if I was putting him out by asking him a question, totally put us off our meal. The food itself was bland, but we expected this, it was ok, edible. We also asked for an appetizer after we'd ordered our mains, and he forgot it. Then after my mum got up and asked for the bill becasue we had waited for so long, he said yes and then we waited a further 10-15 minutes for it, and then again it took another 10 mins to bring the card machine. Really poor poor service. I like my food to be handled by people with good energy, so definitely will not be going here and I don't recommend it.

We had a meal here, table for two. The reviews read very well so i think i was expecting great things. its clean and the waitress was very pleasant . The home made bread and hummus was delicious, the Kebabs were nice enough and tender the salad and rice was very un inviting and really nothing special . Its a nice enough place but could do with updating a little and a coat of paint to make it a little more inviting as really no atmosphere.

If you would like to visit Iran try to go to Narenj restaurant in Charminster - Bournemonth and you will feel like you have been transported there. Food was so tasty and fresh, service was great, helpful and so attentive and the atmosphere was absolutely wonderful. Seen the chef making “Lavah” Iranian bread in front of us, listening to the music taking over the feeling of the people and seen everyone singing happy Birthday to our friend were definitely the highlight of the night. It was my first time trying Iranian food and I completely felt in love with it! Of course we had a great Iranian friend who made the evening meal feel even special. Don’t leave without having a cup of tea it had orange blossom in it, just perfect!

Visited today as I was recommended. I booked via Table Pouncer as there was a 12% discount offered and had a confirmation email but on arriving there the guy I spoke to had no knowledge of the booking. Next whilst waiting for my friends he gave me a menu to peruse. There were not a lot of choices and I didn't know what to order. When my friends arrived they were struggling to find something to order and when one friend asked if she could have a Latte he said that they didn't have coffee!!! So after looking through the menu we chose a chopped salad served with Lemon juice and oil flavoured with herbs which was lovely but they didn't like it and chose another dish, No.7 on the starters which they didn't like. Then I ordered Chicken on a skewer flavoured with Saffron and Lemon served with a mountain of Basmati rice which had no flavour. So I ate the chicken which I liked and one friend ordered Lamb Skewer which came with the same rice and a huge flatbread and a slice of cucumber and tomato. I tasted it and it was ok. Another friend ordered a Lamb Stew which she didn't like the taste of. All in all it was a huge disappointment but the owner/Manager was very nice about it and only charged for 2 meals and drinks which I thought was a very nice gesture.Unfortunately we won't be going again.

Visited for a family meal. Starters were all fantastic, delicious flavours and plenty of choice. My favourite was the sabzi, feta, walnuts, radishes served with freshly cooked bread. Mains were amazing, we all tried different foods, the koobideh was beautifully cooked and served with rice, grilled tomato, raw onion and butter to mix in with the rice... very tasty. The joojeh kebab on the bone was incredible as was the chicken off the bone, served again with rice and salad. Melted in the mouth. Beautifully marinaded meats. The typical Persian drink called doog? was very refreshing. Finished off with black tea which was lovely, very aromatic. We can't wait to return and try more of the delicious menu.

The restaurant serves Persian meals in a Persian atmosphere including a large screen with images of Iran. The food is good, you have the option of having half rice and half salad in main courses which is more to our taste. The Persian style bread is made to order and is delicious, the Persian tea made with orange flower water is also delicious. Not surprisingly the wine list is limited, but beer available too. I had looked forward to experiencing food at this restaurant, since it was praised by another Persian, an acquaintance. This person advised that the Koobideh, is not as good as what you get in London, but I was told the Soltani is nice. We went with our son, coming from London for lunch on Friday, yesterday. We chose three starters, the Sabzi, fresh herbs, feta with bread ( as it comes ), Kashke Bademjoon ( baked aubergine with curd ), Mast Moosir ( yoghurt with wild garlic) and two additional breads, they are prepared in the restaurant as they are ordered. We ordered our drinks, a beer, a coke and a dough ( made with yoghurt, water). Two of us ordered Soltani ( this is with one skewer of minced 'lamb' and one skewer of 'beaten' fillet of lamb, and rice together with grilled two halves of a grilled tomato and the other ordered Bakhtiyari ( supposed to be one small piece of lamb alternating with a small piece of chicken!!! Unsure if this is how it's supposed to be, served with rice and two halves of a grilled tomato. I can honestly say that the best part of our meal was the Mast moosir, (though insufficient wild garlic) and the plate of cheese with herbs. My Soltani, was quite pathetic as the minced lamb kebab was very thin, but much worse than this was the beaten fillet ( usually called Barg) was so beaten that it was almost paper thin. I have been brought up with this kind of food and in London you get really good Persian food, but I was very disappointed with what we were served. I am however willing to give this restaurant another try. What was served to us was so pathetic and disappointing, I was embarrassed. Given the owner's photos on TripAdvisor, hand on heart, they are posted for marketing purposes, as our experience has been nothing like any of the photos.

Met up with friends here for a Sunday lunch time, apart from us the place was empty. The staff are friendly and very good with the children . The menu has a range of kebab options and salads and mezze dishes. We ate lamb kebab, chicken skewers and shebzi ( lamb stew with greens and red kidney beans) . The bread comes hot from the oven. Food was hot and arrived quickly but those of us who have spent some time in the Middle East found it a little bland. The Shebzi was a little salty , on ordering I asked if I could replace the rice ( low carb diet!) with grilled tomato - the waiter found this very odd but eventually agreed I could have a salad instead. Loos were OK , parking is tricky at weekends as you have to find a space on nearby residential streets. Prices are reasonable and one of our party had a beer , the rest soft drinks so not sure if wine available.

It is difficult (if not impossible) to find a good restaurant where authentic Persian food is served. And if you are really into Persian cuisine, you might be a bit disappointed with this. But, Narenj is a restaurant that lives up to your expectations of that authenticity. The food served in Narenj is exceptionally high quality, and if you have ever tried Persian food, you will know with your first bite that it really tastes the same. The bread is amazing, the rice is authentically Persian, the kebab meat melts in your mouth, and last but not least, the dough (yoghurt drink) tastes exactly the same as any Persian restaurant in the land of Persia.

As part of a “date-night” we dropped into Charminster for a bite to eat. Did the usual wandering up and down the high street and took a fancy to this place. It (we were told) had only been open a few months and if our experience is anything to go by deserves to do well. We opted for a sharing platter and there was enough for four let alone two. The food was delicious – the yoghurt based dip with flat bread was alone worth the entrance fee! Such were the portion sizes we had to take some of the food home in a doggy bag – offered immediately, not requested. One other lovely touch was that the waitress offered us Persian tea and a lovely sweet type cake on the house to round off a superb meal. Be daring, try something different and give it a go – we will definitely be back!

Wow! What a brilliant experience! We absolutely loved our sushi making workshop with the amazing Cheryl! We arrived and everything was set up and ready for our family group lesson which we’d booked as part of a 21st birthday celebration. We wanted something that was fun and memorable and this definitely was! From the minute we walked inside the restaurant, Cheryl was warm and friendly and super organised. She skillfully taught us how to make different kinds of sushi with a great selection of fresh ingredients like salmon, prawns and chicken, and we each set about making our own mixed sushi platter to take home ( but we also ate some as we went along!) We finished off by showing off our new sushi making skills in a friendly competition to see who could plate up the most Plenty of sushi to feed everyone at home! Thankyou Cheryl for such a brilliant afternoon!😊

My partners slow cooked beef was good but my steak pie was overcooked to the point that the moisture had been sucked out of the meat and pastry resulting in tough, stringy beef and a dry, hard crust. The potatoes and gravy were tasty but the accompanying swede, carrots and broccoli were woefully overcooked and literally disintegrated to the point I had to scoop them onto the fork. Highly disappointing meal.

Fantastic service Went for a drink in the afternoon and had a look at the menu. Staff were really friendly so when we had a mishap with a booking elsewhere we went back to see if there was a table for dinner. Advised there would be a wait but we were happy to sit at the bar for a bit and they found us a table. The food was really good and service personable and with a smile. Fully recommend a visit.

Great little place, excellent Dim Sum, though limited options. Staff were very good. It's not the type of place you go to for a lovely relaxing lunch, it's ideal if you're in town and fancy a good dim sum, well cooked and tasty and not expensive at all
