Although busy, we got shown to a table very quickly. There was a mouth-watering display of cakes available, however the scones we opted for were by far the best we’ve tasted in a long time. I’d a superb pot of tea, and thanks to the skill of the dedicated barista, my husband enjoyed a fabulous flat white. A row of dedicated tip bowls ensured that our lovely server, Susan, was acknowledged for offering us the wonderful option of having our scones toasted; delicious! A nice old-fashioned end to our Largs visit.

Went with our 2 year old grandson who had a plain ham sandwich and were charged £5:50. Cheap cold meat. I ordered the ham and cheese on traditional Italian baguette with a 10 minute wait which I was happy to wait for and got a heated half baked plain white baguette with the cheap ham and the orangest cheese, paid extra for my traditional Italian bread and again sorely undersold. My husband had coronation chicken salad roll and was underwhelmed. He did have the lentil soup which he did say had nice flavour. Did see people having ice cream sundaes etc which all looked good but should perhaps stick to what your good at as your sandwhiches were very poor quality.

We where waiting on the boat coming in for our trip to millport so we popped in for some food and a drink , the drink and food was good and tasty but it stops there We have a dog and i understand some people don't like dogs ,some dogs are way too big or are hard work but there owners should be responsible for them , scotland is getting better for dog friendly restaurants or bars , BUT don't say you are then treat them like being in a dog jail , there was a massive list off rules that was as big as the food menu, as soon as we walked in i could feel the eyes on us , then asked for some water for the dog we got told YES OUTSIDE , there was 2 bowls in the rain , i am not blaming the woman more who is running the restaurant . So go for some great food but don't take your dog

My wife and I go to Nardini's At The Moorings every few weeks as a treat to ourselves. We love the food and the hospitality here. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, especially Wilma, Susan, Elaine and Jules who can't do enough for you. I would thoroughly recommend this place to all my family and friends. My wife is currently working her way through the menu and has yet to find fault with anything that she's tried. On a personal note, I would like to add how impressed we were by not only the main staff, but by the owner who showed interest in my wife's allergies and have made sure she is catered for. The venue itself is homely and welcoming and is always spotlessly clean.

Went in with my small dog as they are "dog friendly" and have been in many times before. Ordered an "All Day Breakfast" and settled into my seat. Waitress came over and informed me that I could not put a small bowl of fresh water out for the dog. When I asked the reason why she said "You can't, the bosses rules". Never had this problem before and was not prepared to go outside 3 or 4 times during my meal to let the dog have a drink. The bowls of water placed outside by this establishment were not fresh water and full of rainwater. I cancelled my order and left never to return. The place cannot be considered to be dog friendly with such an attitude.

I have been going to the lovely Nardinis for decades and I write this review to clarify to others and as a warning re what I now know : the lovely Nardini family with their excellent service and ice cream still own Nardinis at the Moorings which is located near to the ferry pier in Largs but a few years back they sold the other restaurant in Largs they used to own which is called Nardinis cafe - it’s the large white art deco building on the main road - we recently went to this Nardinis cafe where we unfortunately encountered the most miserable and unprofessional manager called Neil who in our experience was frankly rude and unhelpful : not to be put off by him we went to Nardinis at the Moorings where we were happy to find the great service and ice creams were still being served by the ‘real’ Nardinis ie the Nardini family themselves who thankfully still own Nardinis at the Moorings - I have advised the Nardini family that I think this Neil person is bringing their name in to disrepute and I suspect some of the reviews on this website re an unhelpful manager actually relate to the manager of the main Nardinis cafe building rather than Nardinis at the Moorings - from now on I will only patronise Nardinis at the Moorings

Well what can we say about this place???? Service is superb, initially sat outside assuming it wasn't dog friendly and the nice lady invited us inside stating it is indeed dog friendly. From ordering to food arriving was 15 minutes with my wife and Kiddies all having sundaes whilst I opted for a roll with lorne and tattie scone. The Sundaes were well presented and according to my wife and children were delicious. The roll was fantastic, lovely soft roll, quality Lorne and nice fluffy tattie scone. Price is good considering its location not a rip off for tourists. Would definitely recommend this place without a doubt.

There are two Nardinis in Largs, 2 minutes walk between them. This one is a coffee shop next to the ferry station. At lunch time free seats are difficult to find. Very popular to the locals for decades, it's a usual meeting point for friends and family members. But it also attracts visitors, especially the ferry travellers. The ice cream of the house is famous and it proves its fame whatever your choice will be. Apart from the menu list, you may create your own combination. There are also a lot of snacks and sandwiches and several drinks, hot and cold. Alcohol is served after 11.30' in the morning.People are polite and try to help. But fate moves in mysterious ways sometimes and we ended up being served the most amazing looking ice cream which tasted absolutely divine, and not only that but the staff were friendly and attentive. There was a lady who was slightly older than most of the youngsters working there (I am so sorry I don't know her name), but she recommended places to eat (which included "Room" which I have also reviewed), and also gave us invaluable help and advice on staying in Largs. What I would also like to mention is that the following day we visited the larger Nardinis, where I obviously expected to be equally impressed, but I'm afraid for me it couldn't hold a candle to Nardinis at the Mooring. For a start we were surrounded by people eating fish and chips (which I admit looked great but doesn't really put you in the mood for ice cream), and the more expensive ice cream I ordered looked nothing like the one displayed on the menu which was very disappointing. After my experience at Nardinis at the Mooring where we had only ordered simple scoops of ice cream which had been decorated with so much more thought, this was not at all what I had expected from the "main event" as it were. I would heartily recommend people visit Nardinis at the Mooring if they are after ice cream, as it looks and therefore tastes so much better!

when me and my partner to largs from paisley, come here to eat lunch, good service, friendly staff, nice tasty food, and beautiful ice cream for a hot day too. My partner loves the pizzas here and I love the dessert menu, lots of choice for the food and desserts to pick from. Can't wait to come back again.

We had fish and chips while a young man played the piano and it was lovely. We still managed dessert which was a really good size. We went back for ice cream the next day and it was great. The pizza was nice but a bit dry but apart that it was all good.

I was down for a holiday weekend with my fiancé. We had a return visit to refresh our memories of our last visit. It was well worth it. I ordered a knickerbocker glory with a strawberry milkshake. My fiancé ordered a waffle with banana and chocolate sauce and a coffee. Neither of us were disappointed. Both our choices were delightful. We would not hesitate to recommend this establishment to anyone and we will definitely return.

Review this cafe before and given it a higher score but unfortunately the staff let it down on this occasion. They should keep in mind thats its bad practice to talk/moan about their customer while they are within ear shot especially when its an open plan cooking/ serving area. Not impressed as

My wife and I have been coming here for the last 18 years. Always very friendly and attentive staff. The coffee is outstanding and the best in Largs by miles. Ask for a brown coffee if you like it a bit stronger. A great example of a local family run business . Would highly recommend a visit if you are in town.

I am only reviewing on the ice-cream as only sit in for there ice-cream as it is to heaven. They also do ice-cream to take away but sitting in is better. Siting in there is a good choice of different sundaes you can have from small to very large sundaes to share among 4 people well worth a stop in if you love ice-cream

Quick visit on a busy Thursday night. Staff are good and decor is nice. Good menu and kids menu. Wide selection of drinks. Margherita pizza was simple and tasty. Pasta alla Puttenesca was very good but a measly portion, could have done with same amount of spaghetti again. Very expensive garlic bread with cheese: five thin slices of ciabatta priced and £5.50?! Very poor. Also both pizza and pasta were hot but served on very cold plates. Could be better with a few small touches. Pints of Peroni well pulled and good value.

We live locally and visit often but it was a very disappointing birthday lunch today..... I decided to try the Penne Toscana but when it arrived it was only lukewarm. The Waitress apologised & took it back to the kitchen. After a couple of minutes it returned (same chipped plate, same meal with a poor serving of mushrooms) slightly warmer but still not heated through. It was tasty so I just ate it rather than cause a fuss. When the Waiter cleared the plates I mentioned an off putting piece of what appeared to be gristly chicken or sausage that was also in the (vegetarian) meal, he apologised after prodding it with my knife, none the wiser to what it was, however it had further spoilt my enjoyment of what could’ve been a tasty dish. No second drinks were offered, we had to wait until we were ordering our desserts to have another drink. Only 1 drink then arrived, we had to ask again for the other which then was offered to 2 tables before we got it. Husband was disappointed with the tiramisu which he said had no coffee flavour to it. Overall a very disappointing visit from a food and service aspect. We understand that staff change frequently however today it was obvious that new / inexperienced staff, lovely as they were, would’ve benefitted from support from senior staff to ensure good service and to deal with problems that arose.
