Nardinis At The Mooring in North Ayrshire

Waitress was friendly and helpful. Husband says best cappuccino he has had in a long time. Breakfast rolls of scrambled egg and bacon were lovely, bacon crispy as requested. Will definitely visit again.

Went in with my small dog as they are "dog friendly" and have been in many times before. Ordered an "All Day Breakfast" and settled into my seat. Waitress came over and informed me that I could not put a small bowl of fresh water out for the dog. When I asked the reason why she said "You can't, the bosses rules". Never had this problem before and was not prepared to go outside 3 or 4 times during my meal to let the dog have a drink. The bowls of water placed outside by this establishment were not fresh water and full of rainwater. I cancelled my order and left never to return. The place cannot be considered to be dog friendly with such an attitude.

very poor coffee-bitter and undrinkable.Tried to be constructive to the staff member but got a load of abuse in return (+ I mean a load of abuse)with advice to go to Costas next time-she obviously appreciates that there are better places to get coffees in Largs than Nardinis at the Moorings-AVOID

I have been going to the lovely Nardinis for decades and I write this review to clarify to others and as a warning re what I now know : the lovely Nardini family with their excellent service and ice cream still own Nardinis at the Moorings which is located near to the ferry pier in Largs but a few years back they sold the other restaurant in Largs they used to own which is called Nardinis cafe - it’s the large white art deco building on the main road - we recently went to this Nardinis cafe where we unfortunately encountered the most miserable and unprofessional manager called Neil who in our experience was frankly rude and unhelpful : not to be put off by him we went to Nardinis at the Moorings where we were happy to find the great service and ice creams were still being served by the ‘real’ Nardinis ie the Nardini family themselves who thankfully still own Nardinis at the Moorings - I have advised the Nardini family that I think this Neil person is bringing their name in to disrepute and I suspect some of the reviews on this website re an unhelpful manager actually relate to the manager of the main Nardinis cafe building rather than Nardinis at the Moorings - from now on I will only patronise Nardinis at the Moorings

Having coming to Nardinis for several years now and always make the time to pop in to the Nardinis at the moorings and the customer Service from one off the staff Wilma is,second to none her manners,kindness and has gas a lovely smile and makes you feel right at home What are you waiting for come for a coffee

There were seven of us in our party, all had different dishes and everyones opinions were the same, first class food, excellent presentation and very friendly staff

We visited twice during our short stay at Largs, both times enjoying their sundae selection. Delicious! Service was friendly and they allow dogs which was great. A taste of the historic Nardinis in nice cafe surroundings.

Well what can we say about this place???? Service is superb, initially sat outside assuming it wasn't dog friendly and the nice lady invited us inside stating it is indeed dog friendly. From ordering to food arriving was 15 minutes with my wife and Kiddies all having sundaes whilst I opted for a roll with lorne and tattie scone. The Sundaes were well presented and according to my wife and children were delicious. The roll was fantastic, lovely soft roll, quality Lorne and nice fluffy tattie scone. Price is good considering its location not a rip off for tourists. Would definitely recommend this place without a doubt.

When I visited Nardini at the Moorings for breakfast recently Susan, the waitress, went above and beyond to make sure I was seated as it was very busy. She then looked after me very well, ensuring I was served quickly and efficiently. The food was very good too. It was hot and well cooked and very reasonably priced. Susan is a credit to her employers and deserves a special mention

Huge shout out to the staff and management at Nardini’s! Our family attempted to have an ice cream yesterday but unfortunately our mum took a turn before we even ordered. We cannot thank everyone enough for their attentiveness and help - they all definitely went above and beyond and we are extremely grateful - The Wilson Family

We were staying in Wemyss Bay and tried this place on a trip to Largs for our first morning. We came back every day afterwards! The breakfasts were always fresh, great tasting and a great selection, including juices, tea/coffee and loads of toast. We had other meals (lunch) and just coffees on other occasions and were similarly impressed. Obviously, this was during lockdown and social distancing measures were in place and well organised. We'll be back!

Came in today with my wee dog after very long walk. Waitress very friendly and nice atmosphere in place. Coffee was excellent and so was ice cream. Didn't have food but all looked nice and plentiful. Def would come back

Just went in and got a cone to take out. Gladly sat outside and finished my ice cream in the fresh air. There isn't the range available at the other Nardini's but enough to enjoy!!

We have continuously visited this cafe over the last year. The staff are lovely and the food is tasty. The kids love the ice cream, so much so we travel from Motherwell once a month for there ice cream fix. Lovely little establishment.

We couldn’t get in to the bigger nardinis restaurant as we didn’t have a booking so ended up here at the smaller one. However we weren’t disappointed, all regulations adhered to, and food was delicious. There is a huge range of ice cream sundaes, unfortunately...

We arrived at this cafe at 08:56 in a raining day to be told by staff that the place would only be opened from 9am and we should come back later. We were shocked by how rude staff was! Of course we did not go...

Lovely old fashioned cafe serving hot food as well as their sundaes. I enjoyed a cherry sundae which had plenty of candied sherries, whipped cream and ice cream. It was very tasty and went down well.

Service is quick, staff work hard and are quiet, not the chatty type. The coffee is strong. A wide menu and all the food ever ordered has been fantastic. I much prefer this Nardini's to the bigger one with different owners but a similar name as you can actually hear each other, they are much quicker and the food is a lot better.

There are two Nardinis in Largs, 2 minutes walk between them. This one is a coffee shop next to the ferry station. At lunch time free seats are difficult to find. Very popular to the locals for decades, it's a usual meeting point for friends and family members. But it also attracts visitors, especially the ferry travellers. The ice cream of the house is famous and it proves its fame whatever your choice will be. Apart from the menu list, you may create your own combination. There are also a lot of snacks and sandwiches and several drinks, hot and cold. Alcohol is served after 11.30' in the morning.People are polite and try to help. Nice environment and guaranteed quality.

Have been here few times ..so many varieties of ice cream is unbelievable ..a great experience for ice cream lovers ..not to be missed

Visited with a friend for lunch, we both had baked potatoes with different fillings, beautifully presented with a lovely side salad. Service by a friendly young lady was very efficient. The cafe is like a time warp Italian cafe, which we love and it was beautifully decorated for christmas

As it was relatively early on a Sunday morning we were limited for choice for somewhere to get a cup of tea and toast as most cafes didn't open till later. This one was open so we called in. A brilliant cafe. It was spotlessly clean and the young lady who served us was friendly but in a shy way. We only had tea and toast which was perfect. Tea and toast for two people £5.70. It is right next to the ferry station.

You can't miss Nardinis at the Mooring...steps away from the Ferry to Millport -you will see this restaurant on the corner- with people munching on ice cream cones outside! Not only do they have a full and delicious selection of ice cream and desserts, but a complete menu to cover every meal of the day! There is something sure to please everyone! I ate dinner here a couple times, and popped in for tea and dessert, okay, and I got an ice cream here just about every night.....The staff are friendly, the service is good, and the prices are reasonable. It's a good spot for those eating alone, or with a crowd. It has a neat holiday vibe about it!

Why, oh why did I order a French sandwich in an Italian cafe in Scotland??Ho hum and underdone. But the cappuccino ice cream with whipped cream was well worth it. The Nardini’s on Byers Road in Glasgow is shut now. I had to take a bus 90 minutes for my fix.

It was pouring with rain but you can't pass this place without trying a scrumptious ice cream! We were going to just get a cone and stand under the umbrella but the lady said we could go in with our dog Molly. That is a bonus for us dog owners. The service was friendly and quick and the ice cream was Huge and delicious. It isn't the cheapest but they were worth it. Give it a go if you are passing.

Stopped here for breakfast which was really good value and could barely manage to finish it but we both did lol. What was a surprise was the orange juice which was included but was welcomed by us both.The place was quite cool with the Italian memorabilia etc and the staff were extremely polite and engaging.

Very pleasantly surprised with this find on my first trip to Largs. I had a substantial Caesar Salad with fresh anchovies.

Visited for a snack lunch. Ended up picking toasties, which were very nice (tuna and cheese and sweet chilli chicken). My wife's strawberry milkshake was very good she said, but the star was my cinnamincino coffee. This was like a cappuccino but with cinnamon flavouring. It was to die for.

Always my favourite place to vist. Great location, friendly staff and great comfort food. Always get an ice cream afterwards. Coffee could be a little warmer on our last visit. Seating always a bit of a challenge as very popular but still love this place.

I used to life in TheMorring and therefore i spent several times in Nardinis to enjoy some ice-cream, cake and/or coffee. But honestly - sometimes I was quite sad not to be able to catch a comfy place. I prefer the bigger Nardinis - but this here is define one to try as well - especially if you are waiting for your ship. One thing to add - it would be cool if it would e a bit "longer" opened. 5 PM is quite early for closing.

This is the Nardini's actually run by the Nardini family, and it has the REAL Nardini's ice cream-- just try the vanilla and you'll taste the difference-- sure to please the ice cream connoisseur! It's also a good quality cafe, with toasties, sandwiches, burgers etc. But don't miss the ice cream!

Largs is a lovely place for a walk along the sea front and Nardini's at the Moorings is open on New Years Day which is a super bonus. Very friendly staff and good snacks.

We visited here with family for a quick bite to eat and drinks. My wife had a small latte which was served in a cup, I went for what I thought was a larger one, served in a tall glass. There was very little difference between the two of them apart from the price. I also had a bacon roll which was average at best and at £3.30, I thought not worth the money. On our visit the tables were pretty cramped so would be pretty hectic on a Summers day. Would try somewhere else on our next visit I think

Very welcoming on a cold day. I ordered Chili duck roll, tea and a junior Knickerbocker glory and all of it was delicious - £11.10. Staff were friendly. Nice, relaxed atmosphere.

Recommend clear signage that this restaurant is dog friendly to safeguard those customers who have a severe allegy to dogs

This place is quite big. The ice creams are absolutely delicious. The vanilla ice cream is so nice. Worth a visit.

We went here for tea and ice cream on a rainy Saturday morning. The staff were very friendly and we managed to move to a bigger table when available. The ice cream was lovely (very creamy) - would recommend.

Lovely warm cafe on a freezing day. Excellent coffee. We didn't eat but menu looked interesting, especially the ice creams, so we will return!

Stopped in for a treat with the wife whilst on a weekend break. I had my mouth shaped for a knicker bocker glory and wasn't disappointed. It came out in a tall glass brimming with icecream fruit and sauce. The icecream was out of this world. It must be award winning. I also ordered diet irn bru and a strawberry milkshake. The bru was perfectly chilled and the shake was full of flavour. The wife had a waffle which came with a generous filling and a coffee. We would not hesitate to recommend this establishment to anyone and will definitely return.

Stopped in at Nardini’s for brunch before heading for the ferry and a walk round Cumbrae. We were intending to sit in but decided getting rolls to go was going to be much quicker. We opted for bacon and egg “doublers”. The bacon and eggs were cooked on a griddle, and done to a “T”. Perfection on a roll and great value too.

Had a light snack of bacon rolls and pot of tea. Very nice relaxing atmosphere, nice food. Will be back for more!

Visited this lovely cafe on our tour of Scotland. The Cafe is very cosy and warm. The staff very welcoming. I liked the warm welcome. The food was very tasty and piping hot. Well worth a visit. We also went for take away coffee that same morning. Highly recommended, La Dolce Vita.

What great value this is. Choice of menu. Staff are excellent very professional and first class service. View over the water is just lovely. Will definately be back also wheelchair friendly.

This is a nice setting in a prime location in Largs. We ordered a pizza and an all day breakfast which was delivered in reasonable time. We both enjoyed our meal and followed up with waffles, all of which was delivered by pleasant and helpful staff. We normally visit every three or for months. Nardini's has a hard won reputation in the West of Scotland and this outlet at the moorings reaches those high standards.

The coffee here the only coffee in the whole town that would come close to what Australians would expect.

We were on a day trip with national holidays, and called here for coffee and bacon bap, pleased we did. The food was nice and tasty, as was the coffee, the service was spot on and really friendly. Was really well priced, and must be popular, as it was full of hungry families.

Popped in for Macca & cheese,told i couln't have chips instead of garlic bread so had to order a side,(would say frozen chips)asked for side of coleslaw never got it,macca was so over cooked & actuallly had water in the tubes,cheese was oily & stuck solid around what looked like a cereal bowl,staff moral wasn't the greatest experience,unfortunately it was pouring down in largs & i certainly wasn't walking around looking for some where else as it was miserable,macca & cheese is the basic dish for goodness sake,wouldn't recommend & would not go back.actually grudge the 1 star..sorry to be so blunt ,

Had a lovely coffee and an ice cream. Service friendly and efficient. I would recommend the Afogato. Ice cream with expresso coffee, grown up pudding.

I love that this place is dog friendly as I was able to go out a walk with my dogs and sit in. I had a lovely burger followed by a nice two scoop tub of ice cream. This is a must if you come to Largs I have meant a good memory from here and I will keep returning.

How can an ice cream shop run out of waffle cones when the main Nardini's is a few hundred steps up the road? The female member of staff who served us was quite abrupt and inpatient. So disappointed in the tablet ice cream which was more of a vanilla ice creams with tiny specks of tablet which had no substance. Compared to the main Nardini's, this was like the happy shopper cheap version, terrible.....really wish we'd have walked back up the road to get the better ice cream. Can these two places really be owned by the same people?

Hubby and I went for fish tea. Fish very moist and batter crispy, chips not at all greasy. Accompanying salad and tartare sauce delicious. Also get pot of tea, slice of bread and two scoops of their vanilla ice cream. This costs just over £8.00 per person. I think this is great value for money. Staff all all young ,hard working and polite. Highly recommend this place.

Popped in here twice with family over a weekend, as we were visiting family nearby. Great location just by the ferry (does get busy when the ferry arrives), and coffee and cakes were very nice, kids enjoyed the ice cream with with plenty of flavours to choose from. Make sure you go in here for lunch rather than the high street chain opposite!

anytime I have had Nardinis ice cream just the plane stuff I always luvd it but unfortunately 2 day it just wasn't what I expected another lady that spoke 2 us on the prom said the same as I thought sorry Nardini something different with your ice cream 2 day

Easter Sunday spent walking the dog along the promenade in Largs. Found this ice cream parlour and were even able to bring the dog inside, if she was well behaved. Very helpful staff. Thoroughly enjoyed the ice cream. The rasberry ripple with vanilla, mashmallows, marshmallow sauce and fresh cream is to die for. Fantastic.

On a birthday trip to largs I didn't have a birthday cake, choosing instead to have one of Nardini's ice cream indulgences. I chose the hot fudge and banana which was delicious but almost too much! (I forced myself to take the last few delicious bites!). The location was lovely, just across from the ferry terminal so we watched the ferry arrive and depart as we ate. Our little dogs were welcome and sat quietly under our table except when other customers stopped to greet them. The staff were friendly and all in all it was a lovely birthday treat.

Great for hot drink on cold wet day waiti g for ferry or walking dog. Dogs welcome inside and usually ate quite a few under the tables.Famous icecream available small plain to Extravaganzas of all you can imagine including some alcaholic ones. Food is basic but nice.

First class coffee, very nice atmosphere, good staff very friendly, a good choice of food from the menu, also dog friendl. This is not an expensive place to eat and will suit all ages.

Thought we would have the Italian Baguette.... Takes 10 minutes to prepare as it is a Mediterranean style baguettes using authentic Italian bread baked to perfection.... Hmmm not sure on that definitely resembled more like a part baked baguette from the supermarket, as the bottom of the bread had those tiny little dots from the silicone mats used in a bakery. But Stuff friendly, food OK, coffee good...

We visited Nardinis at the Mooring in the middle of a rain storm and were shown to a table by welcoming staff. I hadn't realized there were two Nardinis in Largs so I didn't realize until we had sat down that this wasn't the particular one I had been looking for! But fate moves in mysterious ways sometimes and we ended up being served the most amazing looking ice cream which tasted absolutely divine, and not only that but the staff were friendly and attentive. There was a lady who was slightly older than most of the youngsters working there (I am so sorry I don't know her name), but she recommended places to eat (which included "Room" which I have also reviewed), and also gave us invaluable help and advice on staying in Largs. What I would also like to mention is that the following day we visited the larger Nardinis, where I obviously expected to be equally impressed, but I'm afraid for me it couldn't hold a candle to Nardinis at the Mooring. For a start we were surrounded by people eating fish and chips (which I admit looked great but doesn't really put you in the mood for ice cream), and the more expensive ice cream I ordered looked nothing like the one displayed on the menu which was very disappointing. After my experience at Nardinis at the Mooring where we had only ordered simple scoops of ice cream which had been decorated with so much more thought, this was not at all what I had expected from the "main event" as it were. I would heartily recommend people visit Nardinis at the Mooring if they are after ice cream, as it looks and therefore tastes so much better!

Whilst visiting friends last Wednesday (20th September 2017) decided to return to this venue that has always provided terrific food.

We stopped here for lunch. There were 4 of us. We just had toasties,chips,teas and coffee. We had icecream later on when we passed again. Prices were ok.food was ok.nothing special.

when me and my partner to largs from paisley, come here to eat lunch, good service, friendly staff, nice tasty food, and beautiful ice cream for a hot day too. My partner loves the pizzas here and I love the dessert menu, lots of choice for the food and desserts to pick from. Can't wait to come back again.

Went hear for my lunch which was lovely, the staff were very friendly.

We had fish and chips while a young man played the piano and it was lovely. We still managed dessert which was a really good size. We went back for ice cream the next day and it was great. The pizza was nice but a bit dry but apart that it was all good.

I was down for a holiday weekend with my fiancé. We had a return visit to refresh our memories of our last visit. It was well worth it. I ordered a knickerbocker glory with a strawberry milkshake. My fiancé ordered a waffle with banana and chocolate sauce and a coffee. Neither of us were disappointed. Both our choices were delightful. We would not hesitate to recommend this establishment to anyone and we will definitely return.

Review this cafe before and given it a higher score but unfortunately the staff let it down on this occasion. They should keep in mind thats its bad practice to talk/moan about their customer while they are within ear shot especially when its an open plan cooking/ serving area. Not impressed as

My wife and I have been coming here for the last 18 years. Always very friendly and attentive staff. The coffee is outstanding and the best in Largs by miles. Ask for a brown coffee if you like it a bit stronger. A great example of a local family run business . Would highly recommend a visit if you are in town.

Was brought to the original shop 53 years ago by my parents and I still remembered the ice cream. It didn't disappoint. Friendly staff. great choice and overall YUM!!

I am only reviewing on the ice-cream as only sit in for there ice-cream as it is to heaven. They also do ice-cream to take away but sitting in is better. Siting in there is a good choice of different sundaes you can have from small to very large sundaes to share among 4 people well worth a stop in if you love ice-cream

We went in to see what was available and found it was much more than an ice-cream shop. Good, tasty food, well served and, from window tables, nice view of the sea and the ferry. Good ice-cream as well.

Busy morning with most tables occupied as it was heavy rain outside. Ideal place for a coffee and a scone before the ferry. Prices are much the same as other cafes and the service was quick. Only one toilet which was a bit of a nuisance having to wait for it to be vacant.

No real complaints here but maybe slightly overpriced. Staff and cleanliness all ok and food was ok also. For the price of it was expecting more "wow".

I've been to Nardinis a few times over the years. It never really changes and is always busy, even in winter.It's decor is spotless and it has the same kind of tables and chairs the style of which hasn't changed probably since the second world war. They still use fish knives. When did you last see that? It's family friendly and a good place for elderly relatives as there is no pressure to eat and go. The staff are both friendly and efficient.Fish and chips are good and the ice cream is lovely. A favourite of mine is the Scottish tablet flavour. They have a variety of ice creams eg Kit Kat, Belgian chocolate, mint etc. You can get them to take away, but not very far, as they do not provide freezer containers and the ice cream melts quickly in the little tubs they provide. One piece of advice is to avoid bank holidays as Largs gets very busy and parking is difficult.I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. A nice end to a promenade on the nearby esplanade.

just had snack at this very poor restaurant it was very over priced for what we had the scone was stale . the staff were not very friendly when I went to pay the man stared in front of him asked for the money and then never said another word a thank you would have been nice to show they appreciated your custom. because they are in a prime location they get a lot of paaaing trade won't be back

We usually have the breakfast offering, get toast and a drink as well, very good value. Staff are friendly and helpful. Even when it is busy, the place is not really noisy, and the music is easy listening.

Nothing special for a snack with the grandkids or setting off for a Cumbrae walk on the ferry, but good friendly service.Also dog friendly which is a big plus compared to Costa opposite.
