The food came out really fast, but was absolutely gorgeous. Full of taste, and just enough, not overwhelming, and I hate leaving food on a plate

Called in for Sunday lunch as we were passing through. Once we were seated we realised it was probably not going to be the best experience. The place seemed quite run down and grubby, the tables needed cleaning, the laminated menus had dried food on them etc! We were served with drinks and then forgotten about until we went to the bar to ask if we could order. I had a nut roast which, when it arrived, was packet stuffing mix with a few chopped nuts. It was a truly appalling meal in horrible surroundings and we were glad to be out of there!

We have visited this restaurant several times over the years and always had a great experience as you can see by my last review of this place but this time it was so so different, which is such a shame:-( portion sizes of the Sunday lunch are totally random. The staff are all very young and inexperienced one of them was walking around serving with a baseball cap on when I mentioned to an older lady on reception that the meal was nowhere near as good, as before, she just smiled at me.

We visited today for Sunday lunch, we haven’t been this year, but previous to that we have been on several occasions , even Christmas Day, and it has always been excellent. However it is not the same !, what has happened???!!, the serving staff were not the best, they need to be trained . The tomato soup starter I’m sure was just a tin of plum tomatoes with some seasoning and my farmhouse roll was a very small part bake roll !!!, the seats and table had not be cleaned either before we sat down and 8 of us were squashed on to a table of 6 , when there was plenty of other tables free!. We also did find hair in our cauliflower cheese !!. The main meal did taste nice which is a shame as the total overall experience let it down. I do not find it very appealing either when the serving staff talk about you when you query what they delivered was not what you ordered!!! This is a real shame as this used to be one place you could count on for a lovely Sunday lunch and experience.

We held our wedding at our local venue, and couldn't have been happier. The Mill Room is absolutely perfect for a rural wedding. Chloe and Meg and the staff couldn't have done more for us - they were so attentive and helpful. Food, drink and venue were absolutely perfect. The Sunday lunches are famous and fabulous, so you need to book in advance and you won't be disappointed,

We looked at this venue's website for the menu which looked good. The website also mentions a wine list. The dining room looked lovely on the website. The menu was a laminated printout of food on offer which did not include many of the items listed on the website menu. If you like something with chips you will like this place. There was no wine list white wine came out of a small individual portion bottle. We had reserved a table which we expected to be in the featured dining room, we had a table in the bar where it was difficult to have a conversation as the country and western music was rather loud.

Our son told us we had to go for the best Sunday lunch he'd ever had. He was right, we had three courses and every course was divine. Service was prompt and very pleasant. I cannot recommend the cider mill highly enough. This will be the first of many visits

Had Easter lunch here as a family and the food was incredible! We all really enjoyed it. The portions were really generous. Would definitely eat here again.

Went here for a family meal, eight of us squashed on to a table for 6 people. Serving staff not the best, in fact quite miserably and could hardly hear what they were saying. The food was excellent and reasonably priced.

First visit to the cider mill under this ownership. Sunday lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Good choice of meat and plenty of vegetables with cauliflower cheese. Extra gravy served with your meal. Could not fault the meal at all. What stood out for me was the warm attentive waitress. She was exceptional. If you are lucky enough to have Katie attending your table you will know exactly what I mean. She is a breath of fresh air. She is unaware of how good she is. Polite, funny and very switched on with the ability to read a table before you actually request something. She’s on the ball even amongst a very busy Sunday roast room. Only constructive criticism I would recommend, is that this restaurant monopolises on the name of the establishment “cider mill” and offer a local or even a Welsh cider selection.

We had a Sunday lunch and the beef was melt in the mouth very tasty indeed with veg very good too staff very friendly and helpful 😋

Attended a wedding here a few weeks back. The venue hall was perfect and I thought your staff were wonderful. All were incredibly friendly and helpful and seemed genuinely invested in making the day as special as possible for all guests. A rare thing, especially in some of the younger staff who absolutely did you proud. The food was also amazing, far from the all too common mass catered wedding fare. Really delicious amd lots of it. I rarely write reviews but believe in giving thanks when deserved and you guys definitely deserve it.

I took my daughter for Sunday lunch on the recommendation of a friend at Crickhowell bowls club. When we arrived there was no knowledge of our reservation and we were given a small table which was in need of a clean. The girls serving did not appear very experienced and we were not made to feel very welcome. The food was good, if £1 more for the set course than advertised. We had a lager shandy each, one main course and a floater coffee. We asked for a Tia Maria coffee, but this was not available so we opted for the waitresses suggestion of a drink similar to a Baileys. I should have checked the bill because when I got home I looked at it and I had been charged £57.40. The bill included two Baileys at £4.75 each which we had not had. I did try for a number of days to speak to someone, but the phone only rang for so long and then cut off. I have announced in the bowls club that I would NOT recommend this place.

Visited for a wedding. Well decorated inside for the ceremony. Seated in the restaurant for the main meal- grazing boards, lots of lovely cheeses, salad etc. Marquee for the evening was actually heated and warm, lovely! Evening- build your own burger bar was great. All staff were very friendly, a great day!

Booked for dinner at 6pm and at 7.15 on a Friday night we were still the only customers in there. Staff were very indifferent whether they served us or not, so when nobody came to clear our table or ask if all was OK the decision was made to leave without dessert. Problem was we couldn’t find anyone to pay for ages and had to go looking. They will never make a business here like this, despite the food being good when it was served

Whilst food was reasonable, not really up to standard. Soggy veg no flavour hard roast potatoes. Meat good. Staff lacki ng in experience when serving at table. Dirty cloth dragged across one plate whist serving other diner.

Party of 6 adults, 2 kids and 2 dogs. Ate in the bar side due to dogs but absolutely fantastic food with very generous portions for all ages. Staff very friendly and attentive. Will definitely eat here again if we holiday here in the future.

Highly recommend the delicious Steak and Ale pie. Prompt service. Lovely staff. Just a shame you don't get to sit in the beautiful barn with the mill like it shows on the website, you only get to see it if you go to the 'inside toilets'.

After visiting last year and having a great meal I was very excited to return. I wish I never did!! We went to the bar was told to sit anywhere, the room was cold so we chose the table closest to the fire. We hadn’t realised that this table was also right next to the kitchen door. We ordered drinks and food, the only good thing was the food, steaks cooked perfectly and very tender. The draft through the building made it very very cold another couple even left stating it was far to cold to eat there. A lovely blonde lady did attempt to close windows and doors to stop the draft and stoke the fire, apart from that the rest of the staff were miserable and unhelpful throughout the whole meal. The staff were shouting across the bar area, they were loud and incredibly unprofessional with little regard for the fact there are paying customers sat there who really don’t want to have to hear all of your obnoxiously loud conversations! I really did feel like I was sat at a burger van rather than a restaurant. The music from the kitchen was incredibly loud also. The difference between my experience last year and this year are miles apart, which is a real shame considering this was a very much loved restaurant by partner and I.

It was an amazing meal with great service and friendly servers going out of their way to please all the customers and all wearing masks for peoples benefits, would love to again with friends to share the experience.

First off, the food was pretty good. Steak of the day was £18 (sirloin). Was very nice, came with real home made onion rings, mushrooms and real fried chips. Dessert okay; cherry cheesecake, nice cherries but very average filling and base, nothing special really. They had only 2 starter options on the menu for some reason. Overall pretty good food, but excellent value for money.There is also a decent sized play area for the kids.Now the bad news. The restaurant was a little bit chaotic. It was mostly kids serving and they were really struggling. Many of them could not take food orders as they said they were not trained. Our plates were actually placed onto the table of another party, which I really did not like in these pandemic days. The bill was then wrong, with another parties drinks included, which they corrected, but with more waiting. So, really great value but they lacked experienced waiters and someone to oversee the service. Probably, just teething troubles re the pandemic.

Lovely pub and great food. Would definitely recommend the steak pie and the apple crumble! Make sure you check out the old mill in the back.

we booked ahead as we were staying on the Glan Usk estate. This family run pub offers traditional fayre, home cooked and excellent customer service. we ate in the evening and sunday lunch . One of the best Sunday lunches we have had out.

What do you want from a ‘meal out’? Friendly service, great food and when you ask ‘pretty please’ for extra mushrooms they give you a Himalayan proportion of them. My wife , my adult oldest daughter and myself recommend this lovely place and the mega helpful chef and waitress as ‘top class’!!!!
