My Karak Chai in Middlesbrough

Service / atmosphere - Walked in with 3 friends, waited, waited a bit more, no acknowledgment from staff. Then left. Food - who knows. If staff can’t be bothered , neither can I. Revisited December 2024 Ordered milkshakes - waited 15 minutes then someone came over explaining they were missing ingredients. They came back after a few more minutes with the shakes explaining another ingredient was missing and had substituted cream with sugar syrup. Can honestly say it’s one of the worst milkshakes I’ve ever tasted. Was like a sugar shake and at the price was a rip off. Left about half the shake and couldn’t have more sugar!! Want this place to be nice as it looks the part but sadly will not be back.

The atmosphere was lovely, the staff were very respectful, the kinder Bueno donut was salty but the drinks were lovely.

Amazing food, great value. The portion sizes are massive and very filling. Spent £18 on two english breakfasts with karak chai, definitely worth the visit.

I came in today to try the french toast and my experience was memorable. French toast was presented beautifully and tasted even better. Staff was very welcoming and polite and service was quick. Definitely recommend if your out and about and crave something sweet!

ONE of the most Fav restaurant for Desi food . Samosa chat and Nehari is delicious My Brother like the the million dollar shake as it was very delicious. Definitely recommend if your wanting a nice desi meal. Their chai is also amazing. Honestly the best chai I have ever tasted. Service was also fast and the time estimated was correct. Staff are really nice and honestly made the experience so much better. You should definitely check this place out. It's a hidden gem.

These were the pizza served in the deal. Only 4 pepperonis and so less chicken on chicken tikka pizza. Why you guys are giving these deals if you cannot serve it properly. Poor quantity.

I just ordered French toast and Karhi through Uber Eats. The French toast came with blueberries and was essentially just toasted bread. The chicken was too spicy, despite my request for it to be mild. It not even charsi karahi it’s chicken korma which is pre-made as they confirm over the phone when complaint about it being too spicy I feel like I've wasted my money. It's really disappointing, and I won't be ordering from them again. I've also submitted a complaint through Uber Eats.

Food is below average, I ordered lamb nehari as advertised on the menu. It said it comes with the salad but it was two thin slices of lemon and sticks of ginger. Lamb was too hard for nehai recepie, I think it was from another dish. Service so soo slow and poor. It was tasteless. They are charging more than the price on menu, when I asked them they told me the prices on menu are before the Ukrainian war, now they are waiting for new print. There is no parking space or no arrangements for disabled customers. Poor hygiene, dirty toilet, infant only one toilet for all. Think before visiting this place.

Food was excellent, omelette was better than Chaiwalla and amount of food for the price is very good. 10% student discount and refills for the chai is also amazing. Only let down was the service, staff don’t really know how to use the computer system and I was stood up for a long time waiting to put my order through however estimated time of 15 minutes for food arrival was correct.

Just had lunch here, had the Nirahi which is lamb shank on the bone curry with beautiful nan breads and karak chia tea. Honestly this is the best thing I have ever tasted in my life, I am still thinking about how perfectly delicious it all was. I may even dream about it on occasional. I 100% recommend. You will not be disappointed.

I used to like their food but now I hesitate to buy from them both times food came very oily. Feel sickly. I hope you guys stop putting too much oil on the food. Even with less oil it can be tasty like it used to be before.

One of the best food if you are far from home and looking for something that makes you feel like homemade food. And always the staff is very friendly very nice especially there’s a guy name SAMRAN tbh he’s very friendly good and talkative guy.

Receptionist, Bilal was very friendly and welcomed us with open arms. He followed everything we requested with a great attitude, making us feel genuinely valued. The experience was fantastic from start to finish!

I was served by the lovely Anisa, she welcomed me with a warm smile and said some funny jokes to me and my wife. Best customer service I’ve had in a long time, she’s restored my faith in the new generation. Girl deserves a raise!

We all work friends went there for a breakfast had to wait for the food for a while but Food was fresh, nice and tasty. Portions were a good size and value of money. Service was excellent. Will definitely recommend.

I came in with family and friends and asked if they can accommodate 2 vegans, to which they bluntly replied "no". We didn't even bother wasting any time after that and walked straight out to go to the Baker Street cafe near them for lunch. If they had at least tried to walk through their menu and look at potential items that they could have served as vegan-friendly dishes, we could have easily avoided a bad experience. I'm Bengali, and I cook desi food as part of my job and at home - bro, desi cuisine is one of the easiest cuisines to veganise. Work on the customer service, and at least apologise if you really cannot accommodate vegans. Bad business mentality if you're going to reject 4 customers who will at the very least be paying £10/head when you had empty tables waiting for customers, and you would have avoided a bad review too.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at My Karak Chai, and it was an unforgettable experience. The desi Pakistani food was exceptionally delicious each bite was so good that I felt like personally thanking the chef! The halwa puri and aloo paratha were especially outstanding, bringing the authentic flavors of Pakistan to the table in the best way. Their service was equally impressive. The staff was incredibly respectful and friendly, creating a welcoming environment. One particular server stood on the main counter, a young man with striking light brown eyes, whose kindness and charm added a special touch to the meal. It felt like he was serving not just food, but warmth and hospitality as well.

Service is absolutely rubbish, and food is not worth the value, not eating from there again. Also when you order for delivery it seems like you have been sent the worst food and hot drinks. Pink tea is like just pink water im very disappointed . Staff needs to do health & saftey course.

First time been here with wife today, and it was the highlight of the day. The ambience is wonderful, music not too loud, really clean, and spacious. Food was delicious, my pizza was very spicy but loved it, I mean why do people complain about spices when they review a Pakistani restaurant when there's always Mcdonalds. My wife loved her margaretia. The surprise was the sprinkle cake which was delicious and fresh, and I'm not a cake man. Prices are good, don't know what others are complaining about for eating in such a pleasant establishment. Staff very friendly. Time for food to come to table about the same as any restaurant, no complaints. Will be back again hopefully. Peter & Louise Lumley

Had the pleasure of visiting Karak Chai Saturday Morning. Was Hosted by Mahi - Lively young lady and very respectful. Ordered Apna Breakfast and Halwa Puri. Absolutely amazing. Been here before but very impressed in this visit. Food was amazing and serving was brilliant. 🤩 Place has a good ambiance. Kudos to the playlist as well. Complimented the food. Keep it up the good work guys.

Always good, today was superb. We had the new Lahori Channo, the daal, a Tikka wrap, samosa chat and honey paratha. A good range of tastes, textures and flavours, really could not have been better. Ignore the one star reviews, probably not used to things tasting of something.

I Ordered and paid for chicken curry with extra roti, cold drink and a tea. Sat down and good 15 minutes later been told no chicken left, absolute joke wasting my time. It's not the first time it's happened, always out of something, I won't be coming back this time, they should know what's available before taking my order, and should always have stock what's on menu or take it off the menu.

The service is very bad. The person who takes the order always lies to you, saying it will take 15 to 20 minutes, but it takes much longer. The food is very poor and cold. I would never recommend it.

I ordered two meals along with two chais, but neither of my chais were delivered. When I called to resolve the issue, I was repeatedly told that the chais were on their way, which turned out to be false. Despite being polite and requesting that the chais be delivered, I have waited five hours and still have not received them. The service was so bad but the owners are really nice people, If the chais I paid for were delivered it would have been nice.

Well been there for few times and tried their tea which was good so this time decided to try their food items and it was disappointing. They have items on menu by one name but you get something else on order.For example we ordered their *charsi karahi* which have specific aroma and way of making what we got was a chicken curry qorma with have burnt roti.I pointed this to server who said he thought the same it was qorma and not karahi! We had pav bhaji which was too spicy that would burn your stomach. An unappetising Bombay sandwich we could hardly eat one forth of it I don't think it's worth visiting here if you are going for food if you are looking for authentic and tasty pakistani and would say try elsewhere.

Service very slow. Ordered two pink teas and lotus cake after waiting decided to get as takeout … tea was hot so when i got round to drinking it i was out of the area otherwise would have sent it back … absolutely awful either they ran out or used packet mix but whoever made the pink tea it tasted powdery and overloaded it with cardomom powder and sugar …the cardomom powder was sat like thick gunge at the bottom of the cup … i was having heart palpations and couldnt drink it … it tasted like antiseptic… and yes in high concentrations cardomoms can cause palpitations and high blood pressure… for a tea house that cant even get a basic pink tea right. For the record i went in friday 12/7/24 at about 9.30pm so maybe the owner can investigate and upskill the tea maker or chef on how to make a decent cup of pink tea. Guys dont waste your money like we did … forget these tea chai type places… burgerlicious pink tea is the best… and yes i wish i had gone there instead.

Good little place in town, had to wait a little because they were really busy. Food was really good ,service was good too,the waiter was really kind. The pasta tasted fresh a bit bland but when mixed with the chicken it was really good. Burger was nice and tender. Lahori kebab roll was ok too. Got some mocktails too ,was so good especially with this heat ,I was a bit disappointed because they were served in plastic cup,last time we went we had them in proper glasses and it looked amazing.

Tea is good and they have used same stuff for pav baji and bombay sandwich which taste like🤮 please dont try these items.

Went in on Saturday 8th June. The toilet was dirty floor to ceiling that alone should shut the place down. When asking for drinks that where on the menu i was told no we only have what in the fridge no coke or pepsi etc. Had to ask for glasses to go with drinks we didn't get any. Smash burger covered in a spicie sauce after asking for no spice full of wet Lettuce unedable that was left. Asking twice for some salt and pepper that never arrived. Having ti asked for knifes and forks again twice. Tomato sauce is a cheap brand. While in there a family came in and where so loud the staff didn't do anything about it. Over priced. Toilets dirty. Avoid avoid avoid

Food is nice; staff is nice. Manager is VERY NICE!! 🫣 Sometimes you have to wait for long periods; not because they forgot you; just because it’s too busy and only 1 person in the front. Best ambiance in town; BY FAR! Music is also good; but don’t try to sing along! People don’t like it! 😂

I have ordered Kashmir chai and it wasn't taste good. Moreover it was bland and serving size was very small. According to value of money not worth it.

Came here this morning for brunch. Food was spot on, I love the desi breakfast here nice and fresh and homemade parantha’s are the best, better than the frozen ones some places serve. Saag was my favourite. Also love the Karak Chai, Its not overly sweet like some chai’s I’ve had. To top it off we tried a Milkcake and omg its one of the best ones iv’e had. My husband ordered the carrot cake and it was divine 😋

When the kashmiri tea amd karak tea was served my friend and I were surprised to see the tiny pot it was served in for regular size drink. Atmosphere was okay.Would avoid coming in future.

Terrible. Service took far too long, drinks orders were forgotten and had to be chased. The staff ignored us. Food was served in impractical cones, and no cutlery provided. Overall disappointing experience.

first of All I would say this place should not close specially for middlesbrough where not a single cafe/restaurant offering desi breakfast.i hope you guys try to take criticism positive way. we been there many times in different times breakfast and dinner. Favorite food is Saag paratha you must try. Pav bhaji very disappointed. mooli paratha not tasty and £4 for 1 paratha is expensive. Shami burger was OK. Prices are a bit high of many things. I would request to owner please make sure you have enough experience staff in kitchen to give food on time. as we ordered and get food after 1 hour in installment. This is my opinion that Middlesbrough is a small town and once someone have bad experience then it's viral like 🔥 Also I don't understand service fee when £1.99. with these prices.

We order paratha and karak chai. Prices are a bit higher than competitors around. However, I understand the fancy decoration but not tiny portion of tea. It’s overcharged for this little portion also taste was so sweetened couldn’t take other spices. Paratha was okey it was hand made but also patato inside was very few. Im sorry but unfortunately I wouldn’t come again. Hope you the best.
