Balti Hut Indian Takeaway in Middlesbrough

Ordered food at around 6:30pm through Uber eats and received the food at 9:00 pm. Called them couple times every time they extended the time for 30 mins totally disappointed I came from a long shift and was starving and this happened. Got the refund though, Never ordering from here again.

Fantastic, loads of meat in the curry, very flavour full. The keema nan, was luvly. And full of keema meat also. Not like other places. And shame is, they don't do keema rice

Absolutely love this place - this is our go-to spot to order from for a night in! The meat is always so tender and flavours are great. Definitely recommend the garlic naan with any curry dishes.

Ordered a lentil and chickpea medium vegetarian curry. Came with bits of broken up chicken in the sauce. Called to complain, staff were very unhelpful and suggested it may be a chickpea (it was not) were not interested in helping and were insisting I was wrong Would avoid awful service.

Absolutely disgusting food to which I'm amazed to find these have won an award , based on what I'm literally baffled Clearly when it comes to these prestigious dinners etc they use the best chef food etc ,but to the common person on the street standards fall massively below . I would strongly advise stating well clear of this back street run down joint .. Would love to speak to manager and I probably will 😡😡😡

There is no other Indian cuisine in or around Middlesbrough that can come anywhere near this place .. food is always hot .. fresh .. nothing else like it

Was absolutely perfect. Not one thing to disappoint. First time having an Indian in Middlesbrough my home town, and it was beautiful! Both butter chicken and tikka masala is to die for😍 2 naan breads could have fed 6people! We got coconut rice and garlic rice, both absolutely amazing🤩 Chips were cooked lovely too!

Overpriced and overated Charged me over £11 for plain boiled Rice and medium madras curry which only contained 6 small pieces of lamb, and then was to hot to eat . Well overrated

Saturday night takeaway was really nice. Meals were Lamb madras, chicken tikka, and a bhuna with two naan breads. The lamb madras was one if not the nicest I've ever had and I've had a few !! Friendly service. Will be using now as our regular go to . Many thanks.

Best Indian in boro hands down, after try a few others whilst they’ve been closed nothing comes close, I’ll never cheat on her again. Balti hut is king.

Quite possibly the only Indian takeaway that is savvy on food allergies my daughter is coeliac and the chef came on the fone told us what was and wasn’t coeliac safe,even down to knowing about cross contamination super impressed and the food is always delicious

Best takeout curry I've tried in Middlesbrough. The chicken karai was lovely.

Ignore the price on the menu and what they tell you over the phone they'll tack on more for the meals then extra delivery £30 for an adult and one child is ridiculous especially when the meals are bland and watery we questioned the price as it was different from what they quoted on the phone and got fobbed off even tho I can see online it should have been £6 cheaper Wouldn't mind as much if the food was good but it's gone down hill save your money a tesco micro curry has more flavour.

I ordered a set meal and my curry contained a decorative brown pebble which I nearly broke my tooth on. Just eat would only offer 9.80 account credit and I've been unable to get in touch with the business. Absolutely terrible that something like this would happen in hospitality. Wont be coming back!

Used to be a cracking place but their prices have gotten eye-watering but the food quality has dropped to the point they have a 3 star food hygiene rating as of Jan 2022. Think twice.

I must say I'm a really fussy eater but believe me there food is beautiful. At first I was really unsure about trying somewhere new but I wouldn't go anywhere else now. Recommended by family

I have left a review on just eat, but I think google needs a wider audience, I have read through the reviews and would of taken my £30 somewhere else, now I wish i ordered from Akbar's. Both meals were bland, no taste, without being to detrimental to the chef who obviously needs to sort his pallet out , as i am not the greatest cook but I certainly know how to cook a korma from scratch, this tasted like a microwave reheat. The Tikka Gobi again had no taste and the chicken tasted like it had been reheated in the microwave. I cannot complain they did offer a refund after I called them, but just eat policy up to 14 days, we tried the food and sadly resulted in my bin after two mouthfuls, all we could taste was flour and high excess of it. If you pay £30 its worth travelling the petrol cost to Aneesa in Newcastle at least you will get hot curries and more variety of food for the money. When you order from a takeaway who charge these extortionist prices you do expect the food to be tip top, sadly Balti Hut has not got that reputation and looking at the reviews and prices they are charging I would say the good reviews are from family friends or staff. Review your prices, change the chef and start serving better food, get a chef who has passion and not stick everything in the microwave to cut corners as that is what it tasted like sadly.

Really annoyed tonight I've been using Balti Hut for around 10 years in the past was several times a week but since it was closed doen a few years ago for a few months different staff appear to have taken over so I use it less frequently, quality isn't as good beware of some of the reviews they are mainly by the same people (staff?). Ordered by phone tonight from the menu which is by the phone then drove the 5 miles to collect it. When I got there the guy said it was £26.80 which surprised me as the menu price was £22.20 the same as i had been charged last week when I had ordered in the shop- when i started to pick up the menu on the counter he said that all the prices had gone up and he had put it through the computer! I didn't order through the computer and he hadn't told me the price when i ordered. After a bit of discussion he offered a 10% discount to £24 and I was so hungry I paid but pointed out that they shouldn't have the wrong pricelists on the counter and it was a breach of trading standards. On return home I checked the website and it said all orders were receiving a 15% discount so he hadn't even given that. What made things worse was that my Lamb Madras tasted and appeared to be beef (a common comment if you look at previous reviews). Quality has been a bit variable for the last few years and linked to the attitude of the staff and the exorbitant prices there are alot better indian takeaways. Don't get me wrong I understand that prices have risen since lockdown but my order had already risen from just under £19 - it's the misleading and illegal advertising that I object to - I won't be back and would advice others to be careful in their dealings with these people.

Don’t often order Indians, but when we do always balti hut. Food is nice and the staff and delivery driver are always polite. Would definitely recommend.

Been going hear for years food is great and staff or great to but the price has gone up and I find it a little too expensive for a takeaway, it cost me over £50/55 for 3 meals with no free poppadoms or nothing.

Not very good at all. I ordered my food at 8pm on Saturday and did not receive my order until 10:30pm. The food was that cold, I had to warm it up in the microwave. I was so hungry I was hoping it would be worth the wait but it was tasteless, not very nice at all, I had the chicken tikka masala special and there was nothing special about it. I will not be ordering from here again.

Great, we have just had two brilliant meals, lamb balti and chicken balti, got to say absolutely fantastic food. We would recommend 100%.

Quite disappointed. Going by some reviews and the prices I was expecting good things, unfortunately this wasn't the case and I was left feeling let down. The chicken Tikka had little taste and the texture was like rubber. The veg rice lacked flavour.. I won't be going back. The 2 stars I have given is 1 for the guy on the telephone and 1 for the prompt delivery.

One star due to the unfair deleting or hiding reviews so they can keep only positive reviews to maintain a high rating. The last two orders have taken 3 hours from ordering to delivery not a good service considering they are 3 minutes drive away.

Travel from Billingham at least once per week, best Indian we’ve ever had. We’ve had a lot. Give them a try.

DONT ORDER !!! Unless you want to be ill .... Rice was old and smelt rotten like mould we had served it and requested it to be replaced collected or refunded and they refused offered £5 off next time probs reply to this with some lie £12 lamb tikka was missing and sent cans of coke and chicken instead even tho we directly went to them for lamb dishes

I used to order from here back in 2014 and have recently returned to the area. The food is as gorgeous as ever although the prices are a bit steeper their quality can't be faltered. Would recommend 100%!

Can't complain about the food quality as it's always spot on. My only complaint is the constant increase in prices. People commenting the best in Boro i can agree with but also the most expensive in Boro. I received a text saying use FoodHut app and get 20% discount, The first thing you will realize is that they have added 20% to all meals . Take a look on FoodHut and Feedbelly and see the price differences most items on menu have had £1.50-£2.00 added. You would think that from the extra business drummed up from advertising their award achievements would be enough but no every time they just increase prices. I used to order 1-2 times a week but now it's a treat and ordering 1-2 times a month at them prices hitting regular loyal customers.

Ordered here as my usual place was closed, I'd forgotten how good balti hut was, have used before, but the chicken dopiaza was unreal, very nice flavours and fresh, would recommend.

Worst curry ive ever had it was so bland and watery i couldnt eat it, i took the risk with all the one star reviews but i wish i didnt. Do not buy from here

Worst curry I have ever had, flavourless looked good but no spice at all! Supposed to be medium hot spice ... Chips looked like scraps rice was ok, rang up to complain, said they would sort me out next time, why not now?? There most definitely won't be a next time!

Friendly service and fast delivery, that's all I can say positive. Paid £27 for 2 meals 2 rice and 2 naah breads. Ordered 2 different dishes for the tikka menu, but both tasted the same. And the sauce/juices which the dishes are cooked in and served with was to runny. I'm not a fussy eater. but for the price, it was a let down. Hopefully it was a one off. I'll never know as I'll never order from there again.

I am really confused as to why anyone would rate this place as the best curry house in Middlesbrough! It's the worst I've ever had, they honestly don't have a clue how to cook a curry. Every dish tastes the same and rammed full of garlic, full of sauce I ordered a Handi and it was swimming in sauce it's suppose to be dry. Shapla down the road kills this place I would never go again.

My family have enjoyed the food from Balti Hut for a few years now. We have used every takeaway and sit-down restaurant in town plus others further afield, over 30 years. This beats the lot. We probably order once or twice a month. We have NEVER needed to complain and we have enjoyed every meal, varying our order quite often to explore the options. Every business has a bad time occasionally but not this one - we think the owner keeps a close eye on things every day it is open (6 out of 7). Delivery is within an hour which is what they promise but sometimes it can be quicker - which is great. The mixed kebab starter is probably my favourite but then again, the tandoori main is to die for - always thoroughly cooked in the authentic oven with lovely boxed salad and fresh lemon to accompany. I appreciate the fact that we order on Just Eat and often request that the lamb curry be cooked in a MILD sauce. It always is exactly what we ask for. I hate places that ignore the extra requests. I love the chicken tika balti and prefer the chipati to their nan bread but my kids are the opposite. We regularly order more than we can easily eat for less than £25 - not bad for delivered food of the best quality, feeding 2 adults and 2 kids. In other towns we have paid £35+ for less food of a poorer standard. This place does the town proud - as relatives commented when they tried the food.

Well, after paying up front, and waiting 2 hours for our order to just CONSTANTLY and rudely be give excuses, we certainly won't b ordering from these again! Oh, and while im on the subject of complaints, Most of their reviews are from their staff!!! they're not genuine.

Tried this place after reading reviews,then realised they were writing them themselves,both dishes looked and tasted the same,distinct lack of meat,what a fake.
