Muffin Break Exeter in Exeter

The selection of cakes and things are fantastic. The coffee and snacks here are marginally better than all of the chain coffee places around Exeter. The apple and cinnamon cupcake things are great, taste delicious and go well with a flat white. Was a little disappointed by the food available, it doesn’t seem like it’s all that good and the sandwich I had was underwhelming.

The muffins we had were amazing, and good value for money! The guy who served us was extremely nice and super helpful with everything. Would definitely come again!

Lovely home made cakes.. and a big selection... and 😋 .... is quite expensive though for the food, but hey, why not give yourself a treat!!!! You deserve it.

I ordered an all day breakfast and a flat white. Within 1 hour I had stomach cramps which lasted along time and then diarrhea 3 hours later. I felt so ill.

Nice friendly staff, very clean and tidy work areas. Food is plentiful and fresh. Always have been nice to the children. Our favourite café in Exeter.

My son works here, they are awful towards him, he has supervisors etc lying say he swears at them they make fun of him and, there 2 main members if staff that are terrible, the manager is fine apart from employing family members that are abusive and not very nice, they go through staff like nobody's business because of these guys. My son was once on the phone to the supervisor for over an hour while he accused my son of stealing from him, I could hear him being absolutely horrid to him and then it turned out he saw who stole on camera. They swear at him and are abusive in their language thinking he can't understand them 🙄 This place really needs a good shake up. Luckily this is a college job while my son does his degree.

Delicious pistachio cream Duffin and a good soya flat white. Look at the care they took over the latte art? The staff really seemed to care and were friendly and efficient. The cafe was clean and modern, a great place to shelter on a cold windy day, Exeter being an ‘everything outdoors’ city.

Since, whoever charges extortionate rents for cafes in the town centre, good old cafes have all but disappeared. The good ol Coffee Pot used to offer a really good cooked breakfast, as did Terry’s. Unfortunately finding a good cooked breakfast in the city centre seems to be a thing of the past. My husband and I were looking for the holy grail today and came upon Muffin Break. A little place on the corner in the Guildhall, we thought we’d give it a try. The notice outside said they serve all day brunch, so we were hopeful. We ordered at the counter. The staff seemed friendly enough. Seating is limited inside but I managed to find a large table. There are tables made for two but I doubt we would have fit two plates of food and drinks on those as they were very small. Anyway, so far, so good.. until the food arrived. I should have told management about it, but I was so hungry and really didn’t have the time, at that time, to mess about. So, let me describe the Muffin Break cooked breakfast. The two eggs..totally raw on the top. They are cooked in a ring of some kind by the looks of it, so no chance of a little oil over the top to cook it. I could literally spoon off the raw jelly..my absolute pet hate. The beans, like warm in a cheap tasting sauce. I have had far better catering beans. The bacon..two very hard strips of smoky bacon. They did taste nice but were like leather, chewy and unappetising. The sausage? A cheap, peppery offering, overcooked. The tomato was very undercooked, pretty raw. The toast was not buttered, or any butter available; the eggs were plonked on top. Considering the eggs were raw, this made the toast inedible. The mushroom was nice, slightly undercooked but tasty. The best thing about the meal was my cup of tea, that was Tetley so can’t go too far wrong. So, that’s unfortunately my review for Muffin Break. They do offer sandwiches which did look very nice, but as I didn’t try those I couldn’t comment. I was really disappointed with the meal, couldn’t eat half of it.

Great little coffee house in the guildhall. Coffee is devine, food superb and served quickly. Staff are courteous and smiley. Lovely chilled atmosphere. Perfect for a breather in the bustle.

Went in to get out of the rain. The service was good, quick and the Pineapple and chocolate chip muffin was delicious 😋. Tea and coffee was also lovely. Very clean. Will definitely visit again ☺️

This is my new favourite coffee shop in Exeter. Food was amazing, great coffee. Its clean and tidy. Staff are on top of clearing tables as soon as people leave. Oh and the smiley face on the coffee....

Good service. I ordered a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel not long after eating I have food poisoning. I wouldn’t recommend

Very rude staff! One woman behind the till trying to push an old lady to buy more food and they were very rude when my daughter who is 2 years old was having a bit of a meltdown. Food sits out and then reheated ! It’s just awful all round won’t go back !

Love this place! Food is delish

It is a good place for coffe, muffin and sandwich. They have a really delicious coffe. And their food variety is so rich. Also, compare to other cafe shops, their many bakes are fresh and hand-made.

When we first went here back in the summer it was great. Service was great and coffee was great. The coffee is still great but the service is shocking. Lots of staff who seem like they don't want to be there. Sometimes teenagers far too busy to serve you. Went a couple of weeks ago and had cake which was actually so dry and hard at the edges and we really should have complained. Slowly we've noticed the service going down hill. Went to the Glasgow one last week and food was lovely and service great. Back to Exeter today and, like another customer here, they forgot our drinks. He then sends out a poor young lad to ask us if we had paid for the drinks! Our cakes and sandwich were long gone by this time. It wasn't the young lads fault at all and he was nervous to ask us. I did go in and tell the older man that of course we had paid etc, we come here regularly. How he thought we had had cakes and a sandwich and not paid for anything I'll never know! Just really rude and no apology. Then the simpering girl who brought it out just says 'enjoy' No sorry nothing. So, nice coffee but we'll go back to our usual places we always went to before. Costs too much to be accused of not paying because they forgot us.

this place has really good food, and the atmosphere there is amazing! however there is this one employee i believe is called elorn, احا يعني، she is very annoying and disrespectful, i got cheese cake and coffee but being served by her was not the best.

First time coming here and was really impressed. Smoothie was lovely but the best thing about it was the service. I’d been out with my friends for my birthday and we popped in for a drink after we’d done EscapeHunt. I was wearing my (non negotiable 😂) birthday badge. The guy serving me wished me happy birthday and we had a brief chat , where he said he hoped I’d had a lovely day but also let me know that they do free birthday muffins ! So I had a banana and coconut muffin which I will 100% go in and buy again when I’m in exeter as it was delicious. It was just a really positive interaction that made my day Unfortunately I don’t know his name but we came in 28/01 and ordered about 3.45/4ish (I had the green smoothie!)

Firstly, the food is really good it’s in a really nice little setting next to Sainsbury’s in the Guildhall but equally importantly, the staff are really courteous, friendly and professional Plus they are kind which goes a long way. Thanks MUFFIN BREAK. Good HAS gone in! ❤️

Only came in for a cuppa but they do a wide range of muffins, cakes and croissants; there are also filled bagels, wraps and flatbread sandwiches. Staff are very efficient and very friendly.

Drinks are ok, but shocking service. Got ignored by every staff member in there when trying to order and then recieved no thank you or apology for the unnecessary wait. Then ordered and the lady on the till was ridiculously rude, not only to us, but also the customers before/after us. She was very blunt and borderline aggressive in her tone. Muffins exceptionally hard and dry too. For the price you pay, you would expect a lot better all-round. Would not recommend.

I was welcomed by a very friendly lady as soon as I walked in. The lady took my order and she prepared my drink and food in no time. The lunch was brought to my table and the food and the drink were delicious!

I went in today and omg the food is amazing you can really tell its freshly prepared and the staff are so welcoming and ask how your food is and if they forgot your food they bring it over straight after

Stopped to pick up some lunch. The flatbread was delicious and nice coffee too. Staff were really friendly, I’d definitely recommend and will go back again.

A sweet little cafe at the heart of Exeter, in the Guildhall which always smells delicious. The chicken tikka sandwich/panini here is good and filling, but their desserts are the ones that make me keep going back. Their coffee cake, red velvet cake and their chocolate mud cake are all delicious. They do have offers on muffins everyday after 4. The prices range from £4 to £6 for desserts. A good option if you want to spoil yourself after a day of shopping!

Great place with the choice of food for lunch and great sweet treats, cakes going nicely with coffee or milkshake. Service was really good.

Despite some of the negative reviews about this cafe I love it. The staff are lovely and smiley, very helpful and make the cafe atmosphere just right. I come here all the time for coffee/cake or food. They have a range of gluten free options (that actually taste good for gluten free). I find this cafe quite relaxing and I usually use it as a study place. If you’re in the area or fancy a cuppa, give this place a try ❤️

Cheese toasty had texture of the sole of a shoe and was vaguely cheesy.

The place was really appreciable with good service but from last couple of weeks they are degrading. It was very disappointing when I experienced ignorance while waiting to order. They served next three customers inspite of me being waiting first in the queue. This happened twice with me. However, last time i went there they forget to serve me my drink and after waiting for 10 mins after the serving of cake i had to ask them for that. And they did apologise but the matter here is of way to deal with the customers. I guess they are being least bothered to serve customers well. The food is good only the problem is with the service they are giving. After this i felt really disrespected.

I so pleased muffin break has come to Exeter. Love the vibe, their coffee actually tastes really good and the timing and location is perfect. Much needed after the last few years. Big thank you to the team x

Had chicken and chorizo with mozzarella. The chicken and chorizo had looked like it had been put through a blender by the looks of it and had a scrambled egg texture not nice and very different to say the least. And was expensive considering wasn't much spread on it. Plus had a muffin that was so dry it was a real let down
