Mucho Picante in Leicester

Finally Got the chance to try this place out. I ordered the Beef birria Tacos. The taco was filled nicely with good amount beef and toppings however the broth was such a big disappointment, there was literally no flavour to it. It felt very watered down. I also ordered the fried banana dessert which came with chocolate sauce and ice cream on the side. That was really nice and I really enjoyed it. However to make it even better it would been nice to have soft serve ice cream as the tub ice cream tasted very cheap. Unfortunately it's no where near the birria Tacos I have tried in London. Really wished it was as good.

This is a very small place, there are only two tables, each seating four. The birria tacos and quesadillas are tasty. I also tried the banana taquito to finish the meal. I was not disappointed, it was something different and delicious. Parking is an issue, but I managed to park on a side street. Staff were friendly but service could be improved.

I visited the Evington Road branch today for the first time and ordered the chicken birria tacos, very tasty, filling and good price (lunch deal) the only issue I found is that it was too spicy.

The quality in food has been consistently excellent every time I have visited! The customer service is also top tier; I just hope they open up more branches soon, especially closer to my home town as I travel an hour just to come here but it has been worth it! I particularly enjoy the fact they are HMC certified as I don't eat meat otherwise (in the UK). My only suggestion for improvement would be to consider increasing the portion size as for the price (£10.50) you only get 4 small tacos which isn't always very filling.

Chicken is boring. Lamb is salty. Beef was the best, really nice!

This is a lovely little Mexican spot situated here on the ever busy evington road! Finding street parking especially at busy times can be a difficult task. Nevertheless, the food here was good. The beef birria tacos were tasty, spicy and tasted authentic. The quesidias were okay too; enjoyed the consume dip. Unfortunately, the fries tasted a bit stale, cold and we didn’t finish them. Also seating can be a little limited as they have 3 benches which can probably seat a total of 10 people. Overall, nice to have Mexican cuisine in Leicester.

Food was absolutely lovely! Had the birria chicken taco, birria beef pizza, chicken quesadilla and nachos. Couldn't fault it at all.

Ordered from Uber small portions and not like pics at all the pics eating inside looks more filling then the tiny portion on Uber also not much flavour was really disappointed glad I had an offer or would have been really vexed

Went for the first time. Me and my partner ordered Chicken and Lamb Birria Tacos and Picante Burger. Excellent service and Great food.

4.5 stars Ordered beef and chicken tacos for collection, much preferred the beef to my surprise. Lots of flavour and spice, would have been nice to have a small portion or guac/other sauce on the side included. The portions are on the smaller side. Really enjoyed it and would happily have it again.

Enticed in by the Birria Jacket Potatoes advertised on the big screen in the window, stood at the counter, the two people at the counter/prep area just ignored me, so after 5 minutes, I walked out & ordered elsewhere, there are many options on Evington Road! Can't rate the food (so ignore that) , as the servers, at 2.30pm on Thursday afternoon were too busy to acknowledge me, but can certainly rate the service!

The food was lovely, however the staff attempted to tell me that I had to make the kids meal a meal and were very rude when asked where the rest of the kids meal was

Ordered as a take-away through Uber eats. First time trying food from here. We had the chicken tacos and the beef tacos and picante fries. On arrival fried were stone cold but more importantly I bit into a beef taco to find a piece of plastic. We didn’t eat any more after that. Have written a review on Uber to the restaurant but haven't had any contact. Maybe it was misfortune but really put me off eating here again.

A great fast food twist on birria tacos, you definitely get what you pay for! We ordered both the beef and chicken tacos, with the beef ones being slightly more favourable. The taco shells are nice and crunchy, and the meat tender and heated well. It’s safe to say that the limes were definitely hand cut. The shop itself is quite small so it’s hard to build a character-full environment, but the Mexican theme and decor around the shop represents the food well. Service at the till was efficient too. Workers do tend to pop in and out of the store frequently however, so it’s not as cosy as it could be. Great tacos and environment for the price point, will be back!

Visited the Evington road branch, service from one of the guys was terrible, I had asked for extra dip in which he commented ‘it’s a pizza why do you want a dip’ and told me to relax when I asked for some wipes/tissues, I had asked in a polite way hence couldn’t under why he had an attitude, when I confronted him he waved it off and asked how many I wanted??? Very rude. Overall food was very nice but still won’t be visiting again.

Tried Mucho Picante and it was a culinary trip to the land of disappointment. The burritos were so bland; even the guacamole looked like it needed therapy. I asked for spice, they gave me a side of apathy. Visited, expecting a fiesta in my mouth, but it was more like a sombre gathering of flavourless tortillas and salsa that looked like it had given up on life. If bland, super sodium, and grease were an art form, they'd have a masterpiece, and maybe call it a Mucho Picasso.

Quite good tbh, tastes relatively authentic according to the Native Mexican at home. Lol.

Ordered the nachos for starters which were delish, my friend had the birria tacos which were fab and seasoned to perfection. I ordered the fish tacos which weren’t so great, I found them bland and a little bit too crispy to the point it was difficult to eat and I felt there was more batter than fish but I would go again for the birria

I have ordered before but this time I ordered beef instead of chicken, I have not been disappointed at all, the broth is perfect. My order was ready within 15 mins which is surprising. Also the service was great, fantastic job from the workers and their recommendations. I also ordered on Uber eats and I have to say I was not disappointed.

The restaurant that calls itself Mexican is unable to write or pronounce the dishes correctly. Also after repeating the order back to me 3 times they still got it wrong at the end.

Hey guys! I just had the most amazing tacos at Mucho Picante. Let me tell you, they were really tasty! The spiciness was just right, not too overwhelming, but enough to give it that extra kick. The meat was cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful. And the toppings, oh my goodness. The salsa, guacamole, and cheese all combined to create a burst of flavors in every bite. Trust me, if you're a fan of spicy food and delicious tacos, you have to try Mucho Picante's tacos. They're definitely worth it!

I ordered Lamb birria tacos, which was very good, and I would recommend you guys to order it too.

Slightly skeptical about any mexican food in Britain. However, this place did not disappoint. Food slapped, not too spicy so anyone could eat there, corn tortillas crispy and the filling was phenomenal. Topped off with friendly staff. Not a Leicester local but will definitely be back

Holy moly, the food is tasty! I love Mexican food. I've eaten at a range of Mexican places in the UK. This place is absolutely delicious. Everything tastes fresh, delicious and authentic.

Tacos are absolutely tiny. Size of a finger Thought they would be at least 1 hands length. Images are very deceiving. Tastes of nothing other than salt and the dipping sauce. If your looking to waste ur money then this is the place. You get literally the smallest portion you can imagine. You would enjoy a sandwich meal deal from Tesco/Asda more than the tacos.. trust me!

Oh my god. I’m Latina and I had yet to find good authentic Mexican food… and I finally found it here!! I ordered the birria tacos and a chicken quesadilla. All of the flavours were on point!! They reminded me so much of home. If you’re looking for good Mexican food, look no further

Thought we'd try out this new Mexican place on Evington Road. First impressions: small but nicely decorated restaurant with only 3 dining tables. Tried the Birria beef tacos and the fish corn tacos. First of all, the portions were on the small side. The tacos were pretty small for what we were expecting. We also felt that it was slightly over priced for what it was. Some of the flavours were nice, but I will say this... It wasn't authentic Mexican flavours. For anyone expecting that, you'll be disappointed. Better off making some Old El Paso tacos at home. They did however sell Jarritos drinks, which was good. Not sure if we'd visit again anytime soon.

This is a really cute spot and adds some variety into the halal food scene in Leicester. It was a small cosy place so not great for large families. We did an order to collect. We had beef stuff tacos which came with the meat broth sauce. Unfortunately you have to pay additional for sauces. We tried the guacamole, Salsa and Chipotle. Guacamole was the best, salsa was on the sweet side and Chipotle was very smokey. From a price point this was OK, approx 4 tacos for £10, and to make it a meal is an additional £3.50. I would go back to try other things, I hope with time they develop a large menu with more variety 😋

We ordered on the phone took about 25 mins to prepare. My only issue was when we went to collect there was a large que which we still had to wait in. However the tacos tasted great but the portion size was on the small side. I will be coming back to try the fish taco.

This place is quiet for a reason. Went in for lunch last week, there was 2 people working & only myself in the store, so I was a bit confused why it took 5mins for the waiter to even take my order (one was on the grill, the other was back and forth in the back/kitchen area, not once did he wash his hands despite picking litter up off the floor) I ordered a 3 tacos meal with chips. The tacos were soggy & the beef was very bland & chewy. Thank god I got the habenero & chipotle sauce. They're not free either, £1.50 for each condiment so you basically spend around £6 to get a small tub of guacamole, salsa & sauces. £2 extra for jarritos. Literally spent £20 on a meal that was no way near worth it.

HONEST REVIEW FROM A FOODIE. After spending summer in the US & living off authentic Mexican tacos, I was excited to learn that there was a place serving birria tacos! I went in with high hopes, however these tacos are dreadful and resemble tacos you get from a packet like Old El Paso. I fear that anyone who rates these tacos has never had authentic Mexican tacos. There was absolutely no flavour, the beef and in fact the entire taco with all its condiments was bland and boring. With each bite it got more and more disappointing. There was no delicious guac or salsa, they were soggy (yet overcooked) and unseasoned. To make it worse, I thought id attempt to take the taco shell off and eat some beef with cheese and there was a thick black hair entwined into the cheese - something I would have ended up eating if I didn’t pick it apart?!! This makes me question the hygiene of this place. Hairs hidden in tacos - a scary thought. Will not be coming back.

Small taco shop with only a 3 tables to sit 4 people each. Fantastic food, had the birria tacos and they did not disappoint. Food and especially the birria was very rich. I recommend you get 4 tacos if you want to be absolutely stuffed. Otherwise 3 is more enjoyable.

Ordered the Birria tacos (beef) and absolutely loved it! Great value for money with 4 tacos with chips/drink for £13ish. It’s nice to have a halal option of tacos in Leicester area, something different from the regular stuff you find in the area. The taco was cooked well, the right amount of crunch. The sauces that come with it pair beautifully with the tacos. Looking forward to trying other food on the menu. Lovely staff too, highly recommend!!

Wa slovenly to have the option of a different type of food for my husband who is gluten free. The tacos we got were chicken and delicious but extremely spicy. We really enjoyed them though, they had the perfect amount of accompaniments within the taco and even gave a dip for the taco which is delicious.

4 Taco’s for £13.30 with a meal is quite expensive, with really less filling in and the taste is just normal to average. Wouldn’t recommend due to the taste.

Ordered 4 Birria Taco’s - 2 chicken and 2 beef plus a side of nachos, £17 or so, was told will be ready in 10-15 minutes and on the 14th minute it was ready. Took home and was great, I wanted the nachos with only certain toppings which was no issue and man on the till also said he will throw in the sides (on the side) so I could at least taste them. Nachos were pretty much perfect Tacos were awesome and filling, I ordered 2 of each to try however both were amazing as well as the sauce on the side, filling for 2 people Highly recommend will visit again, and very well priced. Vibe in the shop while waiting was good, place was clean and well organised Keep up the good work

Got some birria tacos Unfortunately the corn tacos seemed to have been overcooked. They were hard, but the beef filling was very flavoursome likewise the spicy stew sauce. Main point... the size of the tacos were like bitesize compared to other places I have ate at... very disappointing

I was passing through Leicester and fancied a munch and decided to try this Mexican place - mucho picante. I went for the 4 birria tacos, 2 x chicken and 2 x beef. The tacos we ok but i personally feel they lacked the flavour, taste and punch compared to other taco places i have ate. Felt they were over priced and not value for money. Would not visit again tbh. I scored 3 out of 5.

I can’t really rate the atmosphere because I didn’t eat in however the tacos were delicious🥹 and also a massive thank you to the guy who kept opening my bottles for me🤣🤍

Terrible food. Flavour was non existent, it was pure salt. It's very clear to see that no authentic Mexican ingredients/chilli's were used, because this literally had 0 flavour. I tried everything on the menu, the worst was the corn on the cob, the jalapeño poppers and birria tacos, the best was the loaded fries and that was a 5/10 on a hungry stomach. Avoid this place and don't give it the time of day when there's so many better places at Evington to eat at.

I was in Leicester for the day and had a look online to see where was good for food. These guys came up and i have to say i’m so glad i tried them out. I ordered the tacos with Guac, salsa and sour cream. Ordered the large person so i could share between 2 and loved it!

Good tasty food, seating is limited as its a small shop.

I always get the beef tacos and lamb burger and they're incredible. Five Stars. The only downside is, because I usually get it delivered, the bottom burger bun is always soggy.

When we first walked in the shop it was a mixed feelings. They had nice themed deco but it was very small. Lucky we went on a weekday so there was no struggle to get a seat. Food was very nice. Their taco with the sauce combo was delicious. We went for nachos but there was a flaming elite Cheetos option. I only saw it on my way out gutted I didn't give it a try.

Very hit and miss, but at its best it’s amazing 10/10. At its worst, it’s lacking flavour and extremely oily, especially the consumme. Which is how I’ve received my food the last two times sadly. Miss the size and taco shell of the old shop in town, which was always consistent and delicious.

The food unfortunately didn’t have much taste, the tacos were tiny! And the whole meal was expensive. It was a disappointment and I won’t be going back. Picante fries were decent & habenaro sauce, nothing else sadly. I hope they improve in the future as I was so excited for this

Tacos came stale, meat felt undercooked and looked way smaller than pictures advertised. I don’t know if they purposely downgrade their food quality for deliveries but this is completely opposite to what I saw in pictures and was surprised when I received it.

Usually I eat tacos only from Camden market in London so I thought I’d try this place it’s actually 10/10 is really good and the price is very reasonable also, the customer service was A1 really happy this opened here very much needed

Very nice food and service was quick on the tacos, only thing I’d say was we came back for the dessert but it was so small like a baby banana size that could be eaten in one bite. The taste was amazing though and one of the nicest desserts I’ve had but portion size could be bigger

Excellent food and very tasty. The sauce was beyond hot 🥵 but enjoyed. The most hottest sauce I have ever had and I have tried the xtra hot sauce at Nando’s. Overall food was great fresh and filling. Keep up the good work. Will visit again

What’s there not to like…..from the vibe to the food….everything was in point. The place is small so only a few people can sit but the design and setup is cheerful & vibrant. Staff are friendly and helpful. This is the only authentic Halal Mexican place that specialises in birria tacos in Leicester and they are delicious. Full of flavour and nicely filled. Burgers and the nachos are fantastic. The banana taquitos is also unique but brilliant to have at the end of a meal. The only item on the menu that didn’t appeal to me was the picante fries….found it not up to scratch and like ordinary masala chips.

If you enjoy your food dripping in oil then this is the place for you wasted £10

Tasty fresh food! Everything tasted great and we loved the addition of the pickled onions! We had the Birria Tacos and fries.

Food needs more improvement to give the authentic taste and flavours. it just imitates the flavour and the look of Mexican, but for depth of flavours in the food is blunt and tart, but overall enjoyable maxican meal. We can not reject smell or the aroma, definitely shows the difference from the other country food, as someone definitely identify its Mexican, if they have already had it. The store is small, new (visited on 06/2023), clean, and tidy. Still, it has a few tables to eat in. Fantastic environment and gives the authentic presentation of modern tuch of Maxican food court. Food is prepared on order, so the waiting time is moderate and accurate. But, staff could be more friendly and welcoming. I am very disappointed, as they had some opening discount voucher leaflet on the tills. When I asked for a discount, using the leaflet; they did not try to offer me. Instead, they charged me the full amount. If they are not offering it, then they should not keep it. If they kept it, they must need to offer it. Unfortunately, they are losing 1 star for this reason. Which to indicate that any possible good business should not misdirect the customers.

First Halal Mexican food takeaway I know of in Leicester, the food and service did not disappoint.

Absolutely enjoyed the Birria Tacos. It was full of delicious flavours and extremely filling. The Picante Fries topped it of beautifully. Definitely will be revisiting.

I had the opportunity to try to some of the authentic Mexican food on offer at Mucho Picante. In particular I would recommend the pulled beef Birria Tacos, Nachos and picante fries. Definitely something different from your usual burgers and chicken on Evington Road. Definitely worth a visit!
