Ms Mistry Indian Tapas Lounge in Sheffield

What a wholesome evening, feels like you’re in someone’s home with friends being treated to rich, homemade food with friends. Thankyou for such a lovely evening, authentic, welcoming and the portions sizes were fantastic.

Not very well the day after...... Not usually one to leave a negative review (in fact I never actually have before!) but honestly I feel I need to warn people about this place! Important to note that the owner/host really did seem like she was working really hard - she was apologetic throughout and you could tell she genuinely cared about the place. However, we waited a long time for drinks orders, and the fizzy drinks were flat as they were out of big bottles. When the starters came, they were quite nice, but I found a hair in mine and although the owner was so apologetic and visibly upset by this, it really did put me off eating anything else. I still tried one of the mains anyway, it was quite watery but I was honestly starving at this point! but when I found a second hair I just had to stop eating. The food was really really not great - it wasn't traditional food and there wasn't much flavour to it. It's such a shame because the owner did seem to have good intentions - I just think there was too much that was going wrong for her to manage. All of our group have had really upset stomachs today after last night's visit ... I'll spare the details but I just thought I needed to leave a review to potentially help someone else avoid getting ill ! 🤢

The Meat Thali was awful, the curries were very bland. The place had a strange detergent like smell. Also the place is not very clean. Also we were provided with a complimentary bottle of warm drinking water, and two metal cups which stank of sweat. The place is decorated like a Greek restaurant!?!, and the music is very annoying. This place has no idea what it is trying to be, it seems to be a Greek style, Spanish Tapas bar, with house music (awful), with bland Indian food (Zero flavour). This was a Groupon deal paid for by our Daughter in Law as a present for our anniversary. There was meat in this meal as it was a Meat Thali, but it was tasteless, it wasn't just poppadoms, and I didn't expect a 70s curry house, but I do expect a clean environment, that resembles a restaurant, and not a run down cafe, and fresh cold water, and not warm. We couldn't stop laughing after we left, as we never thought that a place could be so bad.

Terrible place, dirty, dusty, greasy and unwelcoming with sticky tables and confusing wall art of the Mediterranean in an "Indian" restaurant. This is supposed to be an "all you can eat buffet" instead you've to order things one by one and wait forever. The logic behind is supposed to be because "they're freshly cooked" but this is NOT TRUE. The majority of the food arrived cold, dry like the desert and tasteless. The mains were even worse, watery, no flavour, no seasoning, nothing. The rise was lumpy and cold, the bread was shameless and the excuse was the oven not working well. The lady had to go across the shop to buy fizzy drinks as she run out of it. We're the only customers so this should tell you something. We paid £96 in 6 and had to hear about all the health problems the lady have, including not being able to see from one eye. We left hungry and utterly disappointed and frustrated. Please AVOID this place or you'll end up having an awful experience. I've warned you...

I gave 3* for food and 5* for service. The host/chef was amazing. She was always at your service when needed. She was lovely and can tell this is done with love and passion. My cocktail was horrible, I usually love mojitos but my strawberry mojito was honestly undrinkable. The chef/bar tender said she doesn’t drink so that made sense. We had all you can eat for £15 (this was a few weeks ago) half the options were crossed off and unavailable. So for my vegetarian son there was only potatoes and some the starters. My mum doesn’t eat chicken and there was only one lamb dish (with around 5 pieces of lamb and mainly bone). The chef explained why she did what she did, she had some runners who didn’t pay for their meal the previous week or something but I think just don’t take it out in your new customers.. it ruined our experience and I wouldn’t go back because of that. We were so excited when we saw the menu and most of what we wanted wasn’t available. Loads of chicken dishes that tasted the same. Nice but watery and had to add loads of salt. One lamb dish. No lentils or chickpeas dishes for my son. So disappointing. Made me wish I had just gone to a normal curry house for an actual full sized curry because we didn’t even get what we were expecting from the menu first shown. But all in all nice food, but maybe check that everything is on the menu before going, if you were looking forward to it like us.

Absolutely amazing place. The owner knows her cooking skills and gave our tastebuds a feast of cooking from the north of India Great starters and mains the breads and poppadoms to die for. We had the unlimited drinks as much as you could eat buffet for 30 quid each. Great value and the quality was excellent. I will be coming back and certainly recommend here to all curry fanatics. 10/10

Went here for the first time it did not disappoint. Food was absolutely sublime, service impeccable and a good drinks menu. Nice atmosphere inside. The host couldn’t do enough for us, definitely will be back again! I’m a big carnivore and was in heaven and my vegetarian friends were delighted too.

"Authentic Flavors and Warm Ambiance" I recently dined at Ms Mistry, and it was an exceptional experience. The moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor is elegant yet cozy, with traditional Indian elements that set the perfect mood. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, and every item we tried was bursting with authentic flavors. The chilli paneer was rich and creamy, with the perfect blend of spices. The naan was freshly fried, soft, and complemented the curry perfectly. We also tried the Bateta Vada, which was aromatic and cooked to perfection. The service was outstanding. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, making excellent recommendations. They made sure our dining experience was comfortable and enjoyable. Overall, Ms Mistry exceeded my expectations. It's a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy genuine Indian cuisine in a welcoming setting. I will definitely be returning soon!

I've visited Ms Mistry on numerous occasions and have always been very happy with the food, the service, the welcoming staff and the value for money. I will definitely be going again.

I think the owner is well out of her depth with this venture, the staff were poor, had no idea of what the food was they were bringing out, food slid of trays all over some of our group! The naan breads were deep fried with butter spread on them 🤷🏻‍♀️ the curries were very watery, meat samosas served as veg samosas and vice versa, the coke and fanta was served out of a big bottle! Waited ages for drinks (i think a staff member went to a local shop to buy big bottles!!). When we complained the owner was very argumentative (i see now from similar reviews she acted the same) and said we were all “disgusting”! Would not recommend this place at all and will not be returning. ****update in response to her reply…. 😂😂😂😂 Oh dear oh dear, the reply is as expected, she seems to have a pretty standard response to all negative reviews and clearly got quite a nasty tongue and certainly tells lies. Post the cctv, please, I’d love to see it. Nobody apologised, nobody walked out without paying - you knocked us some money off because of the complaints so why say you didn’t? Nobody demanded cupcakes, as with any establishment, we took cupcakes and asked if we were allowed to hand them out? Which we were told yes to. As for not knowing it was a birthday, by all means show the message I sent you stating is was a birthday meal for my son! I would, gladly but I’ve deleted them, unfortunately! I wish I hadn’t though as I would be able to post them on the review and show how we booked a table for 15 and 15 turned up - the cctv would show that, right? A deposit of over £100 was paid, as requested to save the table and secure the booking? And we certainly had nothing to apologise for! Honestly though, there are far better places to eat out than here, don’t say you haven’t been warned! #awful

It’s my birthday today and they let me down 4 hours notice that they cannot accommodate 7 adults and 1 child Disgusting There was A woman that phoned asking me to transfer £10 deposit for each person into her own account not a business account how dodgy is that?

Service was polite yet the waitress was very overworked so she could not handle the work load so we waited for a long time without being seen. Hygiene was very poor, the table was not cleaned and had rice around it. The water cups were poorly cleaned/dried and had a hair in one. The kitchen looked visibly very dirty with lots of food on the floor. I saw someone in the kitchen drop a plate then pick it back up and place it on a stack of clean plates. We ended up leaving because we didn’t feel comfortable eating here safely.

Avoid this place. Ran out of most of the food. The food they had all came out at separate times and nothing like the pics show. Meatballs extremely dry. Naan bread hard. Food stains on chairs. Staff clearly out of their depth. One of our group had food spilt down them. One waited 15 minutes for a coke. One vegetarian bit in to a meat samosa because they were mixed up. Table was booked for 15 and they gave us a table for 10 and made us squash in. No air con or anything place was red hot. After all this we complained and the owner instead of listening decided it was ok to call us “disgusting”, tell us other places would stick “two fingers up at us” and when questioned about running out of chips told us “I don’t want to serve chips but you lot want them”. I’m not sure what was meant by that but given her tone and attitude it felt borderline racist. Given the replies to other bad reviews I expect the sort of reply with the same attitude we were presented with whilst in the place. The owner simply cannot accept any form of criticism and responds by abusing customers. I have no more time for this lady or her poorly run restaurant and I just want to make people aware of my experience and how you will be dealt with should you have any complaints.

Firstly got charged for the food and booze option, not just food. The rice was watery mush, I’m sure a student could do better. Mini naans are deep fried - not fluffy naans. The lamb curry is mostly bones. Asked for meat samosas and got veg samosas. Samosas were burnt and tasted it. Chicken masala is fine. You get charged if you leave food behind, so out of fear we ate a lot of it - but got accused of enjoying it. We didn’t but we didn’t want our poor food to be even more of a cost than needed. Then the lady (I assume owner and cook) blamed us saying we obviously enjoyed it if we ate a lot of it and ordered 3 rounds of food. It was only 2 rounds, to see if anything was better than the last round. Very rude if I’m honest. Will never be coming back here. Oh and no loo roll and hand dryer doesn’t work. Edit: since the harassment on fb and Google from your inability to take feedback - just leave us alone. Please STOP! You sad sad pathetic woman. You’re in the restaurant trade. You’re bound to get mixed review. Deal with it. Four rounds?! We had two. You’re a MASSIVE liar who can’t take any feedback. You’re embarrassing. LEAVE US ALONE! Does a refund mean we are zipped I silence? No. The experience was bad enough for us to voice it. I’m not hiding anything. You have seen my review on fb - I just don’t have a Google account to review personally so I use my friends often. If I was hiding anything why would I copy and paste this review on Google to my actual name on Facebook? Are you ok?!

I went to the all you can eat buffet and the food and services is great. The food is made from the heart, very authentic and really good value for money especially considering it includes alcohol and meat! Will be revising for sure 😊 the lamb curry is a must, it was so tender 😁

Worst Indian ever. Under prepared, poor service, poor food. The mini naan is a crime against food. The rice was pure mush. The whole experience was just awful. Do not go. Plenty of other restaurants that are 100 times better than this place.

We visited on a Friday night staff were friendly attentive and the atmosphere was wonderful the restaurant was very clean as were the toilet facilities. We had the thalis which were delectable and were demolished completely.

This is a little gem on London Road - and a very lucky find. We visited Sheffield from London and happened across this Indian tapas restaurant. The owner cooks everything herself and it has probably ruined Indian takeaway for me because it was so delicious and different. The aubergine curry was absolutely amazing, great attention to detail on every element of the thali and perfectly balanced flavours. Very friendly service - would definitely recommend

Had a platter with various vegan items and sides on. Absolutely delicious food, home cooked and freshly made. The owner was exceptionally attentive and helpful and was offering extra of things. Beautifully decorated, great hygiene, would 100% recommend to vegans, veggies or meat eaters to check out.

Not sure how one of the reviews calls the food bland. Dhal is pretty bland in general and even the dhal had plenty of flavour and the 2 meat curries I had, had plenty of flavour. Very friendly too.

I do not have enough good words to say about here. Just enjoyed an amazing selection of food full of flavour, spice and just plain joy. If you’ve not been here yet you are missing out. I can’t rate this place highly enough, try mums chicken curry, you will not be disappointed and the pani puri are so moreish you will end up ordering extra.

We went for thali Thursday, I got vegetable tahli. It was really nice food and to sample different Currys was nice. I really liked the Dahl and we got some Diwali poppadoms for free aswell. Would recommend going here for this dish and nice decore

I had a lovely evening out at Ms Mistrys' Tapas lounge, which perfectly describes the restaurant. It occupies a convenient and suitably grand building on the corner of London rd and Sharrow lane. I'd been meaning to check it out for ages and finally managed to book a table. A big fan of Indian food, I'd actually not tried it in Tapas form, and when my huge silver platter arrived , I was not disappointed by the selection of beautiful dishes. I've never tasted a Dahl like this, simply exquisite and deliciously tasty, and all the other silver bowls were equally delightful. The Chapati and Poppadoms did not disappoint, and were perfectly complimented by the sauces which came on the Tapas dish. The atmosphere was relaxing, and Sheena the host was most welcoming. I loved the layout of the place, I enjoyed a whisky at the bar too, which has a DJ station and potential for live music. What a wonderful, memorable evening I will definitely be visiting again, perfect for a meet up of friends or alone as I was.

This is an interesting take on Indian food. Everything is home made and the owner is very proud of what she does - with good reason. We had the tapas option and used a Groupon for it. The food was tasty and there was some real variety in the dishes that were interesting to try. It’s important to note that, if using a Groupon, the deal is really aimed at just one person because despite having two starters and mains, these are tapas sized. The owner agrees to let the second person buy an identical deal for the same price as the Groupon.

This place is a family freindly dog freindly Indian tapas place when I came with my mother both who love Indian food left happy and full up. Every single mouthful of ms mistrys food is mouth watering. The staff are so kind and caring and ask how our food is. The manager takes her time to talk to people.

Looked great! Orderd on City Grab. After half an hour the order had been recieved but not accepted. Called and they were really vague about having City Grab at all. After speaking to different people they said they could not cover our order and cancelled it, wasted 45 mins of my life.

What a great place to eat. The food is amazing, staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is great. Such a wide range of choices, including dishes that I’ve never seen before. As a vegetarian, I felt spoilt. Will be going back soon!

Ordered take away last night, a few minutes after ordering realised we had ordered two Dads lamb curry only wanted one lamb, phone to say only one lambe curry but would like 1 Mums Chicken curry, when order arrived there were 2 lamb curry. We had popodom which was tasty, veg samosa very soggy, salad in container was dried out and not edible, lamb samosa, the lamb was very dry no seasoning salad was same, pani puri very nice, lamb curry x 2, not very enjoyable, not much lamb more bone, 2x nan very thin and brittle more like a popadom, over all very disappointed, will not be ordering again or reccomending.

Pani puri sucks. Nothing authentic about it. Never ordering from this place again. Disappointed. @ to reply below comment I had to edit to add response. For your kind information, check under the name Ishita Chatterjee. We Ordered today through Just eat. The order where you called to say that you ran out of lamb curry and we agreed for more pani puri instead of refund. If you remember you were speaking to me. Not always the person who ordered has to comment. I ate the pani puri today and was disappointed. So its not fake review. You should rather express your disappointment that we are not satisfied, instead of challenging fakeness of a review.

The food here is absolutely delicious, highly recommend. I had the vegetable biryani, prawns, mini omlette and traditional poppadum and all dishes were fantastic, full of great flavours. The staff are attentive and we experienced great service. Will definitely be coming back.

Such a lovely, welcoming atmosphere! The food was incredible too, and great value. We ordered a few things to share, all vegetarian, and everything was gorgeous. We had a really tasty paneer dish as well as pani puri and a lovely dhal with bread. I think it's a place where you could point at random to the menu and be happy with anything they brought! Can't wait to go again.

This place is fab. The food is delicious and really fresh. Ms Mistry took her time out to go through the menu with us and make sure we were happy with our order. Lovely food excellently cooked it was quiet but we went early on purpose. Not had a tapas style Indian before but has I had sampled the family's samosas at work it was a lot to live up to. The food beat my expectations the tapas dishes style menu leads to you trying more than you think. I loved the sour dough poppadoms and Harshads lamb and mum's chicken dishes are lovely we will be going again. The food is delicious . Bhartu and the vegetarian dishes are amazing . Chicken curry has a unique taste followed by a delicious aftertaste ,so moreish . We went here to try something different. Nice variety of meat and vegan food. Enjoyed the chicken curry the most. Inside is unlike any other Indian restaurant I have ever been to, amazing. Definitely worth a try.

Traditional Indian tapas style menu served by friendly, happy staff. The food was fresh, tasty and delivered what it promised but could have had a depth of flavour which would have improved the overall experience. Possibly a smaller, more focussed menu would be beneficial - offered as a thali option only? Would definitely recommend as it's fresh and more representative of real Indian dishes.

There is no such option like -1 -5 star or else I would do that. It's the worst and most disappointing restaurant with no quality of food as well as people.I would suggest not to go there or else ur whole day will be ruined . And you will regret for such nasty selection of restaurant.

Two friends and I ate here for the first time last night and we were so impressed. We're all vegetarian and it was lovely to have lots of options to choose from. All of the food was really tasty and fresh and the staff were brilliant. Great value for money - we will be back!

I became vegetarian recently and read some good reviews about Ms Mistry on a local fb group and was really looking forward to try the food. However I'm utterly disappointed. To start with, the 'Dhal' was totally saltless!! I mean there was literally no salt put in the dish at all. Can't imagine how the chef would forget that?! On the other hand the dish 'Bhartu' was so hot that my mouth was burning .To clarify I've eaten spicy food all my life( and still do) but this was quite extreme. Another disgrace was the 'Pav Bhaji'. Something which is described as 'mashed' vegetable dish looked more like a stew. So much for trying to evoke my memories of Mumbai Pav Bhaji. Hope the management looks into the concerns seriously.

Portions are tiny. Spent £40 and we’re still hungry. Chilli paneer is mostly vegetables. Curry was missing. Tasted adequate. Will definitely not be ordering again. Ridiculously overpriced for tiny tiny portions.

Tried Ms Mistrys this evening and had to post straight away- what a hidden gem! The tastiest dishes. If you want authentic, home made Indian tapas this is the place- no way street food so much nicer. Blown away by the smoky aubergine dish. Cool decor and nice place to chill. Will be back! Thank you Ms Mistrys!

Excellent tapas style Indian dishes. Lots of dishes that you wouldn’t find in the typical curry house. My favourites were the jeera prawns and Kenyan masala chips. The decor is cool with hip hop/electronic music making it a really chilled place to eat. Service is friendly and relaxed. Highly recommend for tasty Indian dishes with a modern twist.

It was an awesome experience with some yummy foodd.. Good service.. the biriyani, naan and other recipes where well cooked.. The staff is well mannered

I had an awesome dining with my family. My wife became a huge fan of Vegetable biriyani and Chicken biryani. But my personal favourite is meat balls. Best Indian restaurant in Sheffield. Prices of drinks could be reduced a little bit.

Love this new restaurant! Such a great selection of items. My faves were the pani puri, chilli paneer and masala chips. I try to eat mostly veggie food so I love that they have so many veggie and vegan options. Also pleased that they stock Jaipur beer. I’ll definitely be back for more Indian tapas :)

Great selection of dishes not easily found in Sheffield. Extensive vegan and vegetarian options. The menu even tells you what wine is vegan which is so nice to see. Really tasty food and the decor is so cool, love the purple mural. Will be back again soon!

Went for food with friends and had a wonderful time. The food is an experience all of its own. So much to choose from and being tapas style you actually don't mind having a go at almost everything! Gotta go back to try the rest! The owner and waiter were very welcoming from the moment we entered and helped us through the menu as a lot of the food was new to me (I don't often eat out lol). I feel I have to mention the fantastic decor and music also, not something that usually stands out when eating but it really was good and such a relaxing environment for London Road. Also may have had the best naan bread in my life!

Awesome food. Love the decor in the restaurant, great vibe. Will 100% be going back again soon.

Disappointing is how I would describe the food (I ordered takeout). Not only did they miss an item but the items were made in a hurry it seemed; the Batata vada is actually a bonda that lacked seasoning. The Aloo Shak and Bharta were way spicier and over seasoned. The other chaat items were so far from their authenticity like Columbus was in search of India. Flash and fluff can't make up for substance.
