Went in a asked for soup and bread rolls, told they had no bread rolls but we could have slices of bread with soup (Hello M & S you have a food hall downstairs) So had this, 2 coffees, not very tasty. So we sat down and waited and waited and decided that we were not going to get served as the staff were just standing about talking. So went to the counter to ask where the food was only to be told that they had lost the ticket!! We also noticed that a man was walking around the cafe picking up used crockery/cutlery off the tables and putting these onto the trolley. However, although this person was helpful and was known to the staff, he was not an M&S employee so what in the world is M&S allowing a non-employee to do this, think about the implications if he dropped something onto other customers etc. But in retrospect, we're not surprised like at Norwich the shop, in general, is poorly run as is the cafe. So is it a M &S policy to have this level of poor service and quality.

We have been coming here weekly for morning coffee for years. However, this week they have installed new coffee machines which aren’t capable of producing a hot cup of coffee, only a lukewarm cup of bitter tasting coffee. The manager kindly explained that this was to reduce staffing levels as no barista input was involved, just pressing a few buttons! Given the vast array of coffee shops in the vicinity, where they produce barista made coffees to your liking, we shall take our custom elsewhere from now on.

Will someone please sack the manager! No eggs, no jacket potatoes, no lasagne at 12.30am on a Saturday!!! Absolutely dreadful!

Went for breakfast this morning, 4 of us out shopping. For M&S we expect better. Hash browns RAW! Inedible. Bread toasted one side and NO eggs? You have eggs downstairs in M&S Food! Just shocking. Told a member of staff hash browns were raw, they did not even bother to say anything. Avoid. Would never go again.

We have loved going to this place over the years but now it seems to have changed the menu so much regarding hit food that there is now little choice. Use to be able to get things like scrambled eggs etc, all home unfortunately and so are we .. all gone. But they won’t care

My friend and I called in the cafe in Bury yesterday for a light snack and a coffee. There was little choice so we had a scone, butter & jam ,and a coffee . There was only paper plates for your snack and a thin wooden knife to cut it with . Our coffee was served in a paper cup ! ( Pet hate ) My friend wanted a decafe , they didn't have any. Trying to put rock hard butter on the scone with these knives ended with a plate of crumbs, My coffee was only luke warm so it was a good thing I had asked for warm milk on the side .( It was not a nice tasting coffee ) All in all I think we will give M & S cafe a serve in the future , unless they get their act together . It is a good thing there are many better places for a coffee in Bury.

It’s all about choices!! M&S are pushing their plant based foods, so why.....why....don’t they have a plant based option for breakfast in their cafe??? Thumbs up to Debenhams (next door) for considering this!!!

A good place for coffee, snacks but not a"full service" cafe as they don't have a proper kitchen. But for coffee, cakes, soup etc, it's fine. Wednesday best avoided as it's "market day".

My main issue was the portion size and the cost of the food. If my plate was full, I wouldn't have minded paying the price, but I felt conned out of £22.50 for half a piece of chicken, a few chips and a tiny salad. It was a kids sized meal for £22.50. My daughter's children's meal at £9.00 was tiny. My son had salt beef and enjoyed it and this was probably the best value, also £22.50. I don't like to feel ripped off and I left the restaurant annoyed and £75 out of pocket. You can get a really decent meal elsewhere for that and feel full. It was a spur of the moment decision to visit this restaurant as I was in the area with my kids, but it annoyed me so much, I felt I needed to write a review.
