You get what you pay for. It is the cheapest buffet around 9.95 for a all you can eat or 5 for a box. The selection is very limited, not even chicken fried rice on choice. The standards are pretty low. No dogs allowed in but few tables outside to use. Food poor tasting. Good option if you need cheap fill up otherwise probably better to skip.

Paid £10 for an all you can eat dine in. I went downstairs into a very cramped room and whilst waiting in line had to be mindful or not getting in the way of the workers or people eating their meals. The food selection wasn’t great, nor was the quality. Both myself and the person I was with couldn’t finish our first plates before leaving the restaurant.

We have been frequenting Mr Wu for the past 20 plus years when we visit London from Dorset. We have never been disappointed at the quality, service and price of the food. It is a canteen style environment and shouldn't be mistaken for a restaurant but this is the charm of eating here. Dont be surprised if you are sat on a table with people you dont know but this again is all in the experience of eating here. We are visiting again in January 25 from Spain where we now live. Food was bland with no taste, such as the stir fried noodles, rice and bean sprouts tasted like they were boiled in water and that's it. Meat quality isn't the best, I found more than one very dry chicken that was brown and extremely dry, inedible, in my sweet and sour chicken. Salt and pepper chicken wings also isn't prepped properly, still had hairs all over it (meaning it wasn't cleaned properly) and the meat is just strange and chewy. It's pretty basic, didn't really enjoy it and only got one plate. Mr Wu's used to be really good for its price, but I guess they can't afford to maintain quality anymore. Edit: Me and my partner who both ate in yesterday have gotten upset stomachs and bad stomach aches.

My family and I ended up eating at this Chinese buffet as it started to rain and we were hungry. We were put on the table and we started to pick our food. About 10 minutes later, we asked for water from a waiter. Upon asking, he asked us to pay before he brought the water. We ended up paying £60 as it’s £15 per person. He didn’t left our table until we paid. Never been in a buffet that we had to prepay WHILE WE WERE EATING!! But ok…food was alright, not as much varieties as expected. Their fruits were delish especially the orange and pineapple. I would go again if the waiter was not that arrogant and demanded us to prepay.

There was a wide selection of dishes to choose from. There was chicken curry, steamed prawns, roast duck, vegetables, roast pork, etc. The roast duck was certainly very delicious. While working in a food factory, I had occupational health and safety training. The most important thing was that after washing your hands, you disinfect them with alcohol and then you cannot touch anything except food. When someone fixed their hair or scratched their nose, they had to go out to wash their hands and disinfect them. In this buffet, a young man with disgusting acne on his face serves customers, touches dirty money, and then wipes the customers' plates with a dirty rag. Like in Bareja's comedy. Average experience, nothing too bad, nothing too good but an affordable quick and easy tasty treat to keep the tummy full. Never been to Mr Wu Chinese Buffet before, but I thought I'd give it a try. Their enticing window showing the available food, with people scooping different items up and putting them on their plate/in their box is enough to make anyone's mouth water! Nevertheless, the have all the essentials in decent quantities ready for customers to help themselves (unlimited if eating in). The buffet (at the time of this review) is £9.95 and there is no service charge. The takeaway option is £5.00 (for one box) and is available to all customers. The pricing of both is spectacular in my opinion, the box can be filled with any items you choose and if eating in then you get a plate and it is unlimited. The restaurant is small and tidy but has lots of staff on hand to help. Initially once sat, the waiter said 'pay now pay now' to which was abrupt, but we didn't mind as we're going to pay anyway so why not do it first for once (some people have mentioned this in their reviews that the staff were aggressive in doing this tactic) but we didn't feel this way, simply a request upfront for payment which I didn't have an issue with. They offered a drinks menu but we didn't need anything. I didn't ask for tap water (I had a bottle in my bag) but don't plan on drinking inside as the sign tells you not too! A bit draconian, but we just had a sip once outside - not a mega issue but something to definitely consider. The plates weren't that clean nor was the cutlery, I think it was being wiped in the back with a cloth but without proof and it being clean enough to eat off we went up for food. All the food was hot and tasty, the flavour wasn't incredible but it did the job, all for £9.95 each. I managed 5 plates before I felt full, once done, you can simply leave as you've already paid! The buffet does state 1hr 30min seating, but we didn't even come close to this and I don't know if they enforce this. Overall, it is the best value in Chinatown (at present guaranteed), as I've checked and compared all the buffets. You don't get prawn/shrimp at this one and the meat offering is limited hence the pricing difference (my assumption), but I am fussy and mainly had veggie stuff anyway. The cleanliness is good and they have customer toilets and adequate seating, I'd visit again and recommend it to friends and family too. I thanked the staff when I left, they had smiles and were actually all lovely, you just need to give them a chance and understand that the shouting at first isn't nasty but hasty and they're rushing around! Tip - the takeaway boxes are extremely popular, this means there is almost always a queue at busy times for the boxes. If you're doing buffet eating in, you need to wait in a queue so it can really slow things down. I'd suggest visiting during quieter times or before 8pm really (you don't have to) but you'll find yourself forever waiting by the surges of tourists and those grabbing the cheapest Chinese takeaway box in the local area! Enjoy for yourselves, I'll definitely go back - no booking needed. To improve the food could be slightly hotter and have more flavour, I'd give the restaurant 2-3 stars but the value for money puts it at a solid 3 star rating. You get to see the choice of food before you go in, so do have a look through the front window and judge for yourself!

The owner called some French Muslims "Stupid!" and mocked Halal food repeatedly! I've been coming to Mr Wu's for 2 decades but my recent visit at 6:30pm on Thursday 28th March really left a sour taste in my mouth. Some French students were serving themselves at the buffet when they suddenly learnt that the meat was not Halal. They didn't ask initially if the food was Halal, but equally there is no clearly visible signage anywhere to state that the meat is not Halal. Upon discovering this, the manager was furious and called the paying customers stupid for not asking, there was zero compassion for their innocent mistake and they were called "stupid" repeatedly and "Halal Halal Halal" in a mocking tone was repeated several times. I felt grossly insulted and ashamed that in a multicultural city, these teenagers had to endure such ridicule in a Soho restaurant. Yes, the food may have had to be wasted, but taking insulting frustration out on international, young, Muslim visitors to the city who clearly didn't speak much English, I thought was disgusting. Additionally, another man of colour was refused tap water by the same manager. All licensed premises have to supply tap water by law and being that water rates are paid regardless, tap water doesn't cost a restaurant any more, but this manager arrogantly was arguing with the man that he knows his job, he won't be told what to do and he won't serve tap water. If he doesn't sell alcohol, ok he doesn't have to provide tap water, but out of sheet politeness and customer service, it would be advisable to do so and if he is worried about profit, charge 50p or something for the service he is providing rather than point blank and angrily refusing. I shall not return to this establishment out of principle for its lack of compassion towards those that wish to eat Halal and for the terrible attitude that I witnessed. I will say that despite this experience, I was seated promptly, I ate 3 plates of food which was nice and there is a decent variety of food available, albeit not Halal or Kosha. I don't feel that this is the place either for vegetarians or vegans, nor those with specific allergies, as all dishes are served next to each other and there's a high risk of cross contamination.

We went there on Friday morning (15/03/2024), I mean at 11:30. They’ve just opened a restaurant. The food was really bland and tasteless. We were travelling from Yorkshire. After returning, I’ve got a food poisoning. I am still recovering (Monday evening). Good luck and enjoy your meal!

Underground. Just everything. Unhygienic, food tasteless. Believe me, you're saving at the wrong end.

Price is reasonable with the food options (more than 10 types). Staff are a bit rude

I paid £5 for a box that I could easily eat. Food very tasty. The place is small, but the service is nice.

Food was ok but looked stodgy and bit the same. Different than what menu would suggested. My husband shredded beef was OK.

worst experience at a chinese restaurant ever. My friends and I popped in after having a stroll around central London as we saw there was a queue outside so we assumed the food would be good- also considering the prices. We ordered roast pork, which came to our table stone cold, we then decided we do not want that particular dish anymore as pork served cold seems like a serious health hazard. Our special fried rice came out slimy and with sauce on top that ruined the entire meal. We complained to staff and they were ridiculously rude to all of us, we kindly asked them to remove it of our bill however the woman rudely refused and stated towards me a black woman that ‘I knew you would be like this when you walked through the door,’ which I found profusely horrible. After a while she settled for taking off the rice which was £12 and she only took off £6.80. I am highly upset at the service we received at this disgusting place. No hospitality at that chaotic place whatsoever. If I could give 0 stars I would.

I hadn't ordered from Yum Yum Pimlico for a couple of years so with family from overseas and Yum Yum just around the corner I thought that it would be worth doing a takeaway order as the food would still be hot on arrival and the food was always good. That was a mistake I won't make again. I ordered £56 of food to be delivered, after ordering it I received a call asking if I could collect it instead, which I did. Upon getting home with the order I and my family were appalled with the quality of the food. Three portions of egg fried rice which were completely brown from what I am guessing was soy sauce were inedible, mushy and devoid of anything looking like egg. The spicy garlic chicken was bland and more onions and bamboo shoot, I expected the onions and bamboo just not the lack of spice or flavour. The bbq ribs weren't very good. The meat was dry and the bbq sauce bland and it left my hands stained yellow, rather like turmeric would. The cashew chicken was more onions than chicken but apart from that not particularly objectionable. The sweet and sour chicken was sour. Far too much vinegar and nothing to sweeten the tang with a few token pieces of tinned pineapple for appearances. The spring rolls had been cooked almost to mummification. We threw the lot in the bin. After trying it all, looking for something that might redeem it we chalked the effort and cost up to experience and went out for dinner. Only the cashew chicken put up a gastronomic fight but was clearly not in the running for a happy meal award. I am embarrassed in the eyes of my family and utterly disappointed because I used to love their food, how close it was and quickly delivered. Never again.
