My favourite restaurant in Chinatown. Lovely Food as always.

Went here and was scammed by the menu. Not only is the menu purposely misleading with the price and what you’ll get, but the food is 3/10 as well as horrible service. We are vegans and were brought meat dishes 3 times to the table, as we had our food in front of us.

The absolute pits of a Chinese establishment. Food was rank, service was abhorrent, prices were a joke. This lot need to sort their act. Won’t be frequenting again

Tasteless rip off Our expectations were not too high but the quality of the food was really bad here. You get more flavor out of a packet of supermarket ready meal than the dishes here. We also got overcharged with no possibility to check the bill because there is non. They just bring you a piece of handwritten paper with the ‘total bill’ trying to pressure you to give extra tip but ‘do t understand’ when you ask them what is on this bill. Shameless rip off tourist trap, AVOID!

Terrible restaurant! I'm not one of those people who give bad reviews, but I have to warn you. The food is terrible, overcooked, not chewable. The workers don't speak English at all and they justify the bad service by saying they don't know how to express themselves, so it's like you don't understand how they are right, and they are not, really not. Also dirty a lot!

Unfortunately, very bad. I don't recommend it very much. The dish is a terrible culinary mess. Tasteless, unmarinated chicken tasteless. Watch out for this place. Avoid!

Very nice and fast service. The food is delicious, but the flavors are not strong. But it is very light and works as a quick meal.

Food generally ok. Extremely quick service - almost too quick. Ok for a quick bite before theatre. Just a word of warning - be careful of the double service charge. They add it to the bill and then ask if you want to add service on the card machine also. We got stitched up for an extra 10% on top of the 12.5% already on the bill. Didn’t realise until a day later. Very sneaky and would stop me going back.

La comida se veía bien, pero no era agradable. Pedí costillas de repuesto como un lado que estaban muy por encima del precio. No es bueno en absoluto y el personal no es el más agradable. Lugares mucho mejores cerca. Evita como la plaga. La razón principal por la que fuimos allí fue porque estaba lloviendo, desearía haberme mojado y caminar un poco más lejos.

We went there last week. The food was ok, but I find it a bit pricey for what they are .

The restaurant was packed with people, so a lot of noise and not a lot of room to move! Very pressing atmosphere! Our food got mixed with other people’s food many times -> very confusing and we had to wait for our food for a very very long time. Portions were small an food was plain and very excpensive! The rice did not come with the main dish:( There was a big service fee.All and all, a very annoying, stressful and expensive experience! Will not go again!

We arrived with friends for the Chinese New Year, what was our surprise when we entered this “restaurant”. First, installation and quick order taking, the server remains at the table waiting for the order. When taking it, no smile, no effort at pronunciation, no exchange. A few moments later, you have to pay the bill, before being served (yes yes). Everyone is served: the rice is bland, the fried meat is just fried, the noodles are dry and the sauce is still solid. I'm not talking about the dishes that arrive at (very) irregular intervals... The only positive point is the wine... The only thing they don't make themselves. To finish, I don't think much of this establishment after a health check. To flee.

This place cannot be called a restaurant, the food is terrible. They gave us chicken with vegetables and nuts, which they call chicken smelled terrible. We left the plate full, the waiter removed it and didn't even ask why the only passable thing was the rice, the tiny and terrible spring rolls. To forget And to make matters worse, they make you pay the bill before serving you, disastrous I repeat it again, what they said was support an incredible stench had rotten

I go there for the food. The staff is ...good-ish. Prompt but that is about it.

Food is delicious but for what you get its way to overpriced. Staff is rude and doesn't let you take the time to order. Youre better off with the all you can eat acros the street.

La chica que lo desmenuzó tenía tanta prisa que literalmente lo hackeó. Podría haber hecho un mejor trabajo yo mismo. El pato apenas estaba caliente. Las tortitas estaban totalmente pegadas en la cesta de la vaporera. Dios sabe cuánto tiempo llevaban allí. Tardé años en separar cada uno y, por supuesto, se estaban desgarrando. También estaban apenas calientes. Nunca volvería a comer aquí. Estaba tan decepcionado como emocionado de volver de nuevo, pero qué error fue. Mantente alejado si quieres comida y servicio decentes. Al personal le importa un carajo y se nota.

When it comes to paying the bill, it is set up to give you a choice to pay a tip, on payment. This is in addition to a 12.5% service charge added to the bill. So if you don’t want to pay two tips/ service charge - check the machine carefully. You also get charged for tap water.

Typical tourist trap for pre-show diners. Very basic and run down environment - especially if seated downstairs. Served very small amounts of sauce with dishes and if you ask for more they charge £4 for another small dish and additional pancakes for crispy duck are charged at £5! The food was enjoyable other than being overpriced for what you get but MAKE SURE TO CHECK YOUR BILL. They will try to take your payment before you get a chance to look at it and when we did we had been charged £28 for salt and chilli squid which should have been £18 which in itself is a ludicrous price in this non-classy environment! Oh and the toilets absolutely stink!!!

Very basic and tired decor. Worst Chinese I've been to. Tiny portions and overcharging for extras sauces and pancakes. £9 a pint. Tried to charge me £28 for some crispy squid and then told me it was a mistake and they'd charged for the wrong dish, I asked them to show me on the menu which one they had charged for mistakenly which they couldn't do. A dreadful experience. Don't let them rush you to pay the bill, check it.

Avoid this place as food is way too expensive . Just had s few vegetables with rice with some vegsn pork , snd shared with my partner and it came ro over £50 with s tip . Way overpriced . Feel completely ripped off !

Overpriced, Bad foods.... they gave us reused tea which cost $15 pounds. Sold out dishes were included in bill. If we didnt check, we will be over charged more. Not recommented this restaurant.

How is this place still in business? We had dessert there as we’d just had dinner elsewhere. The dessert was ok although excessively overpriced (£19.80 for two small bowls of sago/tapioca pearls). The service was by far the worst I have ever seen, and I am a Londoner originally from Paris…! The waiters were criticising our order and giving us dirty looks, yet we had said we only wanted dessert upon entering. When some waiters saw our order, they ripped the bill out of our table and started shouting at each other. This felt extremely awkward. When I asked whether everything was ok, we were ignored and so were we until we left the place. The only time we weren’t per se is when we were being bumped into by waiters on the move, approximately every 10 seconds as the tables are so tightly arranged. I insist that I have never ever seen this before and am wondering how this place is still in business. When we left, one waitress bumped into me without saying sorry or goodbye or thank you. The place is also dirty as some waiters were taking the bins out whilst people were eating. I would definitely avoid eating a whole meal here.

Unfriendly an overpriced. 15% service added without consent.

The food was okay, but the hygiene was questionable. I went there on Christmas and they didn't accept credit cards, only cash. When I asked for the bill, they just gave me a piece of paper with the full amount written on it. lol;;;; I ended up weighing over 270 pounds after eating lobster and three small plates. ;;; I went because Imperial China was closed and I was so disappointed. This is a restaurant that seriously rips you off. With that money, you could eat at a high-end restaurant in Hong Kong or a Cantonese restaurant like Yu Yuan at the Four Seasons Seoul.

Came here for lunch on Christmas day, I must say the experience was horrible and in particular they raises theirs price on that day for I could say “ greedy” owner not only wants to ripping people off and try to avoid reporting the sales to the government by asking people to be “cash only”. Terrible and I WILL never go back.

The food was overpriced and poorly served. The tables were very close to each other. I was sitting in the aisle, passed by waiters by centimeters every few seconds. When two of us finished eating, their plates were immediately taken away. The third person finished his meal as if he were eating alone. The atmosphere is like a crowded McDonald's, not a restaurant. I couldn't wait for the rest (£17) of the cash I paid and had to ask for it even though the service was included in the bill. Food from a food track is tastier. It is rather a place to quickly extract money from tourists.

Really disappointed with the food and service, been waiting 40 minutes for the pork belly , it was only fat and not even any meat .. end up throwing to the bin! Never come back ! Waste of money

The food was okay. The service was, however, horrible. We were seated in a corner at the entrance. There was a lot of passage and servers were bumping into us the whole service. The wait was a bit long. The moment we ended the plate, they removed them and stared at us so that we could leave. They then proceeded to clean our table and reset it while we were seated and not ready to pay. Avoid.

A good Hong Kong restaurant with real ingredients, highly recommended.

Went here after theatre - had to pay for order before food came which was strange until we saw they added a huge service charge onto the bill - I requested this be removed and we would leave a cash tip ( which we always do as we don’t agree with restaurants deciding what tip is to be - especially before you even had any service !) The waitress replied “if you don’t pay we won’t serve you !! This is against the law !! Food was awful bland and cold - but of course you have paid so no recourse Trading standards should visit this restaurant.

21/1/2924-Saturday. I had frequent this restaurant for years. Normally, just takeaway. As I do not like their seating area. I seldom rate restaurant in a bad way. For this particular restaurant. I must admit the waitresses are very rude. In term of service like taking order. Asking the waitress for detail of certain dishes. The waitress act like, if you don't know, don't come here. You are not welcome. This kind of attitude. I have tolerated them on many occasions. Until today, even though they are busy. Understandingly. I have to wait and I have no oribkem with this. I waited for an hour. Yet the food is not ready. I need a chair to sit as I just come out from hospital after a major surgery. The waitress just tell me off. The restaurant is too busy. No chair for you. If this attitudes of the waitresses do NOT improve. I am afraid, I will never come back to this restaurant again. Greatly disappointed💔👎👎👎

Can't tell you what the food is like, we left almost as soon as we arrived. You have to pay before you eat, which I don't have a problem with, but this is the UK, where we pay a living wage. It is not acceptable or legal to add a mandatory service charge, let alone before you've eaten... Absolute audacity of them

The food here is nothing special and combined with the poor service I would absolutely not recommend this place. We hadn’t realised we received a dish for the table next to us, and after trying some, the waitress realised and took it back to the kitchen. She then made no changes and served it to the table next to us. Myself and the lady at the table were horrified, especially considering the 12.5% service charge. The staff are rather unfriendly and unhelpful, we waited about 10 minutes for the bill only for the card reader to “lose signal”. We had to attempt paying 7 times in different locations, one of which the waitress walked away with the card reader and the bank card. We later realised the payment had been taken twice and after phoning the restaurant on two occasions they insisted it was not the case. I’ve since spoken to the bank who’ve confirmed it has been taken twice - I cannot believe the restaurants attitude to customer service, especially regarding payment issues. Do not eat here, and if you must, bring cash!

Nice restaurant. Very busy during early dinner time at 6pm. Very warm due to volume of people. Staff are very friendly, service is good and understand. Food is very nice, must try.

Gerrard’s Corner - what can I say - you were the only establishment open when we needed you most. 3 stars on Google Maps is a crime, sorry you’ve been mistreated. Service was great. Food was decent and beers were cold.

The food is horrible and the treatment is terrible, please don't go there because you will regret it. Zero recommended.

Expeditious. Service to be reviewed, the employees were not smiling, the taste was not there. Our table was already cleared and straightened while we were still putting on our jackets. (And other tables were free) There are plenty of other places to stop, go your way!

Very expensive and 80 paunds for nothing

Food wasn’t fully heated. Vegetables not hot at all. Asked service for recommendations and was told to watch it myself. Can NOT recommend it. Maybe take a few more steps and look for a restaurant which actually serves a hot meal.

Excellent Chinese food with very friendly service! Our friends recommended this place so we went even with the low rating. I don’t understand this low rating as everything we had was excellent! I don’t have any pictures because we were with a friend group and I forgot.

Hit and miss, but you still pay expensive meals nevertheless. Staff are incredibly rude, will just shove you out of the way with mop buckets or scauld you for not ordering enough food.

After looking at the menus of several restaurants in Chinatown, just our luck that we pick probably the worst one to eat in. Tables were cramped. We were rushed to order. Requested ice twice for the tepid table water and it never came. Food was bland and tasteless. Chicken and sweetcorn soup looked like vomit. Main course arrived halfway through the soup so was going cold. Wouldn’t recommend as there are much better restaurants nearby, pity we chose the wrong one.

The food was ok, but everything came individually and the starter came when we had already finished the main course. Far too expensive for what is offered. Extremely dissappointing experience. Went in to dine with our friends who are of Asian descent, me and my partner not, we were obviously shonned aside and made feel very clearly not part of the culture. Even our friends mentioned that the service was what they would call "thats what white people get" unfortunately. Food very underwhelming, high prices and asked to pay before being served with serviche charge included (when service hadnt yet been provided). One dish was a miscommunication and they refused to take it back even yelled at me for not understanding them in the first place. Very sad for such an experience. Do not recommend at all.

No matter how hungry you are please avoid this restaurant at all cost. You hardly get any service then they will add a huge service charge. The price they charge does not match the quality of the food. I will not be coming here again.You have lost a valuable customer.

I love dim sum, but the noodle dishes are a bit oily. Everything is good, but there’s still room for improvement.

Food depends on what you order - fast service. You can, but you don't have to

I have been going to this restaurant for over 25 years but sadly it has gone down the pan. It is now a massively overpriced tourist trap with terrible service. As an example, a portion of dim sum costs between £10 to £12. They also try and scam you; they will often try and charge you more than the prices noted in the menu, so make sure you check the prices before you pay. They also insist that every single member of your party is present before they give you a table and you have to pay for your food (including a 12.5% service charge) when you order. Consequently there’s nothing you can do if the food and/or the service is not up to standard. Paying upfront would be just about acceptable if it is a good restaurant with great food, but certainly not for this scam of a restaurant. To top it all off, the last time we went there we ended up getting food poisoning. This is an awful restaurant that should be avoided at all costs.

Lovely food, quick service, only downside is the toilets aren’t very accessible

This place has the rudest staff we have ever come across. Have to say the food was fine so nothing to complain about there. But we were sat outside, so told we would have to pay up front. And then get asked for a tip!! Based on what exactly? We hadnt even ordered food at that point. Barely a word spoken and when it was, just short and rude. For instance we asked where the toilets were. Downstairs! Food tuned up in a about 5 min and was just plonked down. They just want you in and out as fast as possible. I appreciate its really busy but there is no need to treat your customers with contempt. Hovering around to take plates before we had all finished eating! If you dont care about customer service and are in a rush its OK. Very expensive though, so be warned. But then again its London.

Typical China Town service… over priced for what you get and to top it off the 12% tip was added and not optional. Basically if you didn’t pay you leave.

Cold dishes, rich table, we receive the dishes before the starters and the starters at the end of the meal. The waitresses try to increase consumption as much as possible. In addition, the music is way too loud and there are only 3 songs in the playlist. Finally, the waiter digs into the plate to look at its contents. I don't recommend this restaurant and I think the duck was actually coypu. The only deserved star is the free entry to the zoo.

We ordered crispy beef but we did not find a single beef inside! It was only the over caramelised topping !

Came for dim sum lunch. Food was all very nice, service good. Atmosphere decent. Everything as expected for chinatown restaurant. Give it a try.

Poor experience, had to pay before we received the food. Ordered spring rolls with meat and when it turned up there was no meat in it. Showed the waitress there was no meat and she pointed out that shredded cabbage was supposedly the meat. She walked away and didn't provide any solution. Food came luke warm. Spent way too much money for a poor experience and very poor food. So many other restaurants to pick from, avoid this one if you can.

Great dim sum in the heart of Chinatown. If you like dumplings and shumai look no further. Made to order it’s totally worth the wait. Chinese dishes are good too. Been here a few time and have never been disappointed.

The food was a bit greasy, but okay. Service sucked - they asked to pay upfront and didn’t provide the itemized bill, seemed like they didn't care after we paid.

Avoid this place!! Very poor greasy food, which we paid upfront for. Staff asked why we didn't pay for tips upfront, when food arrived it was very fatty, spring rolls were very doughy with no veg inside, crispy beef was soggy with no beef inside and when I complained and left over half my food the waitress said I had ordered too much 🤔 when I explained how bad the food actually was, she wasn't in the least bit interested. As we walked away I saw three other tables with leftover food, so it wasn't just us that had poor food.

My wife and I ate here 28 years ago, and many times since. We came back this week for our last visit together. The food is still absolutely delicious, a large selection and all freshly cooked and hot when they arrived at the table. Staff are friendly and efficient. I tried other Chinese restaurants with friends, but never found one as good as Gerard’s Corner.

Cibo tremendo, posto lercio, personale disonesto e scortese. Ci hanno fatto pagare prima che arrivassero i piatti al tavolo, senza dare subito la ricevuta e aggiungendo una tassa di servizio superiore a quella voluta, nonché un’acqua non richiesta. Quando ho fatto notare che non volevamo due acque, la cameriera ha portato via sia una bottiglia che il bicchiere della persona con cui ero. Lo scontrino, quando è arrivato, era letteralmente nel piatto dei ravioli, coperto di sugo. La cameriera, cortesemente, ha pensato bene di toglierlo da lì e di mettercelo su un piattino, anch’esso unto di suo. No comment sul cibo, che probabilmente veniva da qualche razione K dell’esercito cinese (maoista). Veramente deplorevole.

Best Chinese food in Chinatown. I’m in London every October and always make a point of coming here. Dim Sum is the best! One of the few restaurants open late night after the theater. Late night you need to pay after ordering and trust me I’d rather do that than go home hungry. I’ve. Ever had a bad meal here. It’s usually busy but so worth the wait.

The food was okay, but the service was lousy—I’ve never seen that before! It's an expensive place, and as icing on the cake, you must pay before you notice the food arriving. They just rush you so you can leave quickly. Jasmine's tea arrived once we finished our meal, and still, we had to ask again about it as it seemed they forgot (again). I don’t recommend this place.

Mixed review I ordered the "savoury meat and shrimp croquette" which tasted good but the value for money is really average, they were almost empty... We came here to have some soupand asked to sit in, the lady insisted that we had a takeaway for some reason then we get the take away and decide to sit in the outdoor seating. She then comes with her colleuge and tells us that we can nor sit their because we have ordered a take out (not by our choice) and tells us that we have to leave? Its 22:00pm and empty what is the point?! Terrible customer service and uncooked food 😓

Having eaten here many many times years ago when we lived down south we recommended the restaurant to friends, so 8 of us visited. We were shocked to discover a compulsory 15% service charge added to our bills and you have to pay in advance. Ridiculous paying for a service you haven't actually received yet and at an inflated rate. They will not waver on this so be warned ! Now having said that our food was delicious. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Just be prepared.

I asked for small alterations to my noodle (dry version instead of soup version). It’s not listed on menu. They didn’t tell us it would cost £2 extra than the soup version on the menu. I’m not happy with being charged more without being told beforehand. Not big sum, but the non transparent way it was done left a bad taste in the mouth, metaphorically!

Although the food is good quality, it is really sad to have to pay £3 for daring to ask for an empty cup to drink the tea you already paid for. This is completely unacceptable and intolerable. This is a clear abuse of tourists.

Delicious food and excellent service!

Guess most people wouldn't enjoy paying inflated prices on a (below the) average food (at the most) in a shabby restaurant and also discover they were tricked to tip for a service they didn't even get yet as well as pay a 12.5% service fee... Oh, and also for stuff one can and should get for free (like small sauce plates). Avoid at all cost.

Came to this pace for lunch, and was pleasantly surprise by the food and service. I've travelled enough to EU, North America, and APAC and normally I would hunt for Chinese food. This place is top notch, even comparable to those top ones in HK and Guang Zhou.
