This cafe is now called Longji, maybe under new management?? It was my first visit, ordered Macanese Curry Seafood Rice, Sweetcorn and Fried Fish Rice, Stir Fried Choi Sum, to drink Ice Lemon Tea and Taro Smoothie. Food took about 15 mins to arrive, in the meantime got the drinks plus complimentary chinese veggie and meat soup. Overall the food lacked seasoning, more spice and coconut milk was needed in the curry rice, the fish in the sweetcorn rice was very dry, suggested to me that is was not fried to order, though the portions were generous, the stir fried choi sum was good. No problems with the service. Bill came to just under £30 with tips.

Whenever I came to London Chinatown, I would usually go here to have a cheap and filling meal. On my last visit, we were shown to our table and ordered drinks...about 10 minutes later, a waitress came over to our table with the bill (even though we didn't ask for one). She told us that the cafe is so busy that we needed to leave in 20 minutes. I understand it was busy but it was incredibly rude and its not how a restaurant should treat its customers. I will not be returning again.

Went here to try the bubble tea drinks which I had no tried before. Large glass of fresh mango with ice and black sago pearls in the bottom. Tastes like someone dropped Haribo sweets in your drink when you suck one up through the oversized straw. Prawn and chive dumplings were hot and sticky although not many of them. Sitting on second floor means you can look out at people on Charring Cross Road. Food comes with complimentary thin consommé but really just hot dish water with 2 pieces of carrot which had been stewing for several days. There are better paces to get dim sum in Lisle Street

I always eat in this place when in Chinatown. The portions are plentiful and the food is served piping hot and quickly.I normally always go with a Beef Ho Fun and I'm yet to be dissapointed. You can be in and out of here within 25minutes not bad considering the food is all cooked fresh.

I stopped here after attending a conference one weekday evening. I didn't have a reservation, but this was not a problem, as the restaurant had two floors of tables. I was shown to the 2nd floor, even though they had room on the 1st floor ... not sure what the reason was ... however, it was pleasant to sit watching the street scene below.I ordered the Aubergine & Chicken hotpot with steamed rice for my main, and the dish had a deep, rich flavour and was piping hot. There was plenty of steamed rice (I didn't finish it), and this, too, was hot. For dessert, I had fresh lychees, which were served on a bed of crushed ice. A nice fresh finish to a meal. The restaurant has a no-frills approach to food (as the photos will show), but the food was tasty & very warm, and the service attentive. I would happily stop in again, especially as they have a lunchtime offer and I think I saw a Dim Sum offer as well.

Authentic Hong Kong diner, right down to the MTR map replica and faux French! The music is loud, the waiters are rude, the china is plastic, and the TV is always on, but what else would you expect from a HK diner? The char siu is sliced thin but excellent, the Singapore noodles are always good, as is the iced HK coffee & bubble tea. There are some bad dishes, so it can be hit and miss, but for the price and authenticity, one can't complain too much.

This used to be a good restaurant 6 years ago but not anymore! I used to to go there very often for their delicious soy chicken but I went back there yesterday the chicken was too soft, tasteless and cold.what a disaster!! The rice was dry and unfresh and the ginger and spring onion dipping sauce was absolutely tasteless-you can only taste the oil only!! I was hugely disappointed! I had a slightly bad stomach after the meal. The price is a lot more than it used to be. I didn't check the bill so I'm not sure if they charge me recommended fee. I think the restaurant might have been changed its owner and chef. I will never ever go back there!

We always eat in this cafe when we don't have a lot of time but need a tasty meal. The food is good honest hawker style and is comparable with similar restaurants in the Far East where we visit a lot. This is a cafe and doesn't pretend to be anything else but the menu is vast and the food is good.

This restaurant seems to be characterised by deceitful labelling practices. I ate their earlier tonight thinking that the service charge was entirely optional, as all of the menus said "Recommended Gratuity 10%".However, when it was time to pay the bill, the waitress refused to accept the basic point of the English language that the word "recommended" does not mean "mandatory". The supervisor was summoned and the supervisor threatened that if I did not pay the service charge as well, the establishment would refuse to serve me in future.I paid the service charge, as I don't feel it is appropriate for me as a Christian to be creating a scene over only £1, but I would seriously advise anyone reading this review against visiting this restaurant: - the deceitful labelling practices when it comes to the service charge make me inclined to wonder if there are other areas in which they try to unscrupulously extract money from customers. To my mind, the word "recommended" in this context means "recommended ONLY", i.e. optional. If the service charge is only "recommended", it should be entirely possible to simply not pay it without any loss of face.Don't touch this restaurant with a barge pole.

I went in here for some bubble tea and a sandwich. I was seated in the downstairs area and it was reasonably busy with people at each of the tables. The café was clean and the service was quick, it felt like a rather simple place and it wasn’t very vibrant either. When I went to pay they wouldn’t allow me to use my debit card as my order was under £10, so I had to make my way to the nearest cash machine. I would visit again if I’m in the area and need a quick pit stop for something to eat and drink.

Okay, this place IS hong kong of a certain type of dining...I have no complaints. They are great to me. The manager there is always so sweet when we show up when he can recognise us because the place is always so busy. The waitresses are varied in their competence but hell, they try hard. they are blunt. Some of them are fresh-off-the-boat and really working hard to figure it out. The service is fast. This place is more like a Diner and not so much a restaurant. It is a Hong kong style fast dining with a choice of about 300 different kinds of fast fusion street food! If you expect restaurant service you are in for a rude shock. If you are chinese and you complain about it, it is because you have NEVER Been to Hong kong, or that section of Hong kong that have to work hard, work fast, eat fast and get out to go make more money and work harder and play harder! If you don't understand that...forget it...you are NOT Hong kong! :)I like this place because in the busiest spot in London, they have the perfect location to give me that momentary feeling of Hong kong and when I show up they give me complementary soup and my western friends too, if they come with me. So for that price, I'm okay with paying the standard HONG KONG 10% service charge. Hong kong street life is what it is....London and Hong kong have a lot of similarities in the "feel" of the street in the busiest time in the city...I like this place!***Yes if you re reading, Cafe de Hong kong, can you please change the disinfectant you use to clean the loo....try something more "pine" instead of industrial disinfectant...that drives me nuts. But for the rest...its all good! :)

Fast and affordable for students like myself, it's a great place to go for lunch and dinner when you are craving for some Hong Kong-style "cha chan teng" meals (concidentally this is what the name of the restaurant is called in Chinese). If you have been to Hong Kong or any other "cha chan tengs" from around the world, you will immediately recognise the familiar layout of booth seating. This is one of the few Chinese restaurants in Chinatown which makes edible and authentic Hong Kong-styled food. In fact, when my parents came to visit me in London from Hong Kong and wanted a meal in Chinatown, this was one of the few restaurants that popped up in my mind. And as expected, they were quite impressed with the quality of the food. Portions are quite small, but that is a problem in most London Chinese restaurants anyways. Don't expect good customer service, but that's because customer service is never emphasised in Chinese restaurant anyways.

My girlfriend and I wanted a quick bite to eat so popped in here..big mistake. As soon as we walked through the door, we were made to feel like we were inconveniencing the staff even though it was 9.00pm they open till 11.00pm ...Reluctantly we were shown a table, so we sat down, ordered quickly, our food arrived two dishes were wrong, we were hungry so we thought what the hell and tucked in. Two minutes later, boss comes over, "you move over there" "what" we said, he said " you over there we have more customers"...trying not to flip out I agreed and we passively moved to a smaller table by the door...anyway..comes to paying and I say we are not paying the recommended service....this did not go down well, the manager says we have to pay the tip.."everyone else pays" he says in a loud voice so the whole restaurant can hear, everyone in the "restaurant" looks over at our table and the commotion this guy is causing..I refuse to budge and so does he..I explain I am within my rights to walk right out the door and not pay at all..he gets very angry...I again explain I will walk unless he changes the amount on the card machine...he reluctantly changes it and we walk out NEVER to return AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Honestly, this is by far, the WORST ever chinese restaurant/restaurant in london. Apart from the cold microwaved tasteless food, the nightmare is the bill. Like any other restaurants, there is a RECOMMENDED GRATUITY figure added to the total amount of food. So i was aware and paid for just my food. The old man came up and insisted us to pay saying it is a COMPULSORY service charge! God's sake, i am more than happy to pay for service but 1. service was beyond garbage 2. bill stated ''RECOMMENDED''!!! the boss came up and same I MUST pay. SERIOUSLY?!!!! p.s. I am a student please understand! This doesn't happen to other restaurants. I would pay if the bill actually says service charge as is from the boss mouth!

I do miss Hong Kong food from time to time. This is a good place to get a taste of it without paying too much money. I crave for their beef flank ho fun noodles every now and then - sometimes I visit on my own for lunch on a Sunday, or get take away. The portion is bigger if you dine in. Also love their Hong Kong style 'milk tea', very concentrated. My stomach is very sensitive to it though but I still order it everytime!

I went one day after a busy day at work. I was starving as I had not had a lunch break and was craving chinese food....This place is on my way to the tube and there are always people in side which is usually a good sign. I've been there a number of times on and off. The roasted pork, grilled pork and soya sauce chicken are my favorites, though I wouldn't go so far to say that these are as good as what you could get in Asia itself. The bubble teas are creamy and thick, I especially like the yam/taro flavour. Certainly this is the place to go in Chinatown if you are craving for the sinful tapioca pearl drink! I did not like the cream corn fish - it was basically fried chunks of fish soaked in cream corn, with a bed of rice underneath. Something I could easily have made myself, and probably better.

Been to this place many times and the food is alway consistently enjoyable. Not spectacular but well above what other restaurants are dishing out. Service is okay but the place is clean and tables are booths so comfortable. During busy times you might be asked to share a table with another couple, either that or wait. Food arrives quick and piping hot. The drinks are good but always served in a plastic glass that is need of retirement. Overall, I'd recommend this place for a quick, hot meal. It's not a place chill over drinks and talk for hours. Basically, in and out in under an hour.
