Quality dropped a lot, after dinner then I realised the restaurant is not called Mr Meng anymore but Viet Delight. The food was really bland and terrible, but the service was okay. However, that still didn't save the poor quality of the food. I felt scammed after going there and will never go there again.

Food is not good. Look and test very bad. 3 small chicken in stri dish. I wait 45 minutes for main course. Everything looks different like on the foto menu

Ok I hate doing this and check my reviews I am easily pleased, but my wife and I visited this restaurant on Friday night before going to the theatre. Food looks lovely through the window but it was overpriced and pretty much tasteless in our opinion. It really is probably the worst Chinese restaurant that I have used!! Just a really honest opinion.

I had a lunch with my mother on 20th March 2024. We ordered two beef soup noodles and nothing else. When the first bowl of noodles came, it looked lovely, but covered in a thick layer of red oil. I then quickly went to tell the assistant not to put any red oil in the second bowl, however it was not possible, we agreed ti have less oil instead. I gave my mum the less spicy noodle bowl and I was having the red oil soup noodle. The beef was very very hard and was difficult to chew. The noodle was ok. Half way through the meal, I received a phone call and went out to take the call because the table next to us was loud and I couldn’t hear. When I came back, my mum looked very pale and she told me she needed some cleaning products to clean the toilet. I asked her what happened? She said she just vomited inside the toilet. She said the food was not right and she felt very sick after eating it, she run to the toilet however, she couldn’t hold it and half of the sick was next to the toilet on the floor. I then reported this to the assistant and she gave me some blue kitchen roll before reporting to the manager. I went to the toilet, cleaned and sprayed the floor thoroughly. My mum was very ill and she had to go to the toilet again before leaving the restaurant. I went to pay for the bill but the shop assistant or the manager said nothing to us. I have visited this restaurant before and loved their deep fried shredded meat. However this time the experience was very very bad. I feel bad to see my mum going through this. I didn’t have all of the noodles because of this incident, and was also having an uncomfortable stomach in the afternoon. We have to cut the day short. I don’t think I want to go back again after this event. I particularly didn’t like the way the restaurant dealt with this issue, they didn’t say anything at all, no investigation, not even an apology or some caring words. The above is my honest opinion, a lesson paid and learnt.

Food was bland….. no balance of flavours for example it was either pure spice or no flavour at all … Chef needs to learn what salt is or even msg considering the type of cuisine ….

Very enjoyable fast food. The service was fast. Portion was general, comparing to those in Pho or Wagamama. The Chinese crossing the bridge noodles was authentic. And it’s not expensive. Recommended! 👍

I am a Chinese and lived in London for 38 years now and I have been in almost all Chinese restaurants in Soho. I am also from Hunan and lived in Sichuan both are famous for their delicious food cuisine. I visited the restaurant at 19 September when we sent my daughter to her university with my family of 7. We wondered off towards China town and discovered this little restaurant by the book shop foyals. What a jem. The food was from heaven which all my family members including some teenagers and my German wife, thoroughly enjoyed. I for one is over the moon as this is the only one resembling the Sichuan food I had years ago. I can seriously say this is the best. There are also a few nonspicy dishes which my daughters ordered and liked. And the price is really good. For a party of 6, minus my university daughter, only costs us about 80 pounds with one noodles soup each plus two extra add dishes. The extra dishes are made fried pork and dumplings which tastes beyond words. We cannot finish so they packed for us for free. I had those soup for the next day. I never wrote any restaurant review before but I am shocked by some of the reviews here. I hope this restaurant can be here to stay for a long long time. By the way the decorations ate not typical Chinese but more like a Disney film which is also interesting.

So we went because I generally love noodle soups but this was really an interesting experience. The noodles were more expensive than your average noodle place but they had a deal for any noodle or rice dish and a drink for £10. Honestly like was way over priced. Firstly no offence to the girl serving us but she spilled a drink everywhere and one of our soups on the table just in the time we were there. I had to remind them about the drinks we’d ordered for them to appear. We also had to wait about 15 minutes to even be asked what we wanted but it wasn’t very busy. Finally when the food arrived the broth looked pretty meh but I was hopeful. Yeah, it tasted horrible. It was so so bland but very very salty and it smelt like just off. The noodles as a result tasted horrible as they’d absorbed the broth. The meat was passable but very gritty and not sure I should have had pork. We also got pork friend dumplings but the insides seemed to have prawn and an indistinguishable meat . They fell apart as soon as you bit into them and while it didn’t taste bad it was a bit jarring since I ordered pork dumplings. My partner had the chicken steak noodles but his was also just as horrible. Though his broth tasted slightly better. I ended up barely eating any of it and I’ve felt not great since. I’m not really sure what happened here as everything looked lovely but I really wouldn’t risk going here again. Though the service of the girl isn’t reflective of the place and it can happen to anyone I’m a bit concerned she just wasn’t really paying attention.

I ordered the popular braised beef noodle soup which was tasty but a little too spicy. Upon eating my dish i discovered a small bug sitting on the noodles. I was completely shocked because i had eaten so much of the dish already and by chance happened to spot it before having another bite. I called the manager and let him know what happened and he was not phased at all, he explained it was from the bok choy and apologised. I was horrified by the response because he was not surprised by this at all so it seems like a common thing.

Called in for a quick bite before the theatre. staff were good food ok but wasn’t happy with the service charge added on without asking first.

Was i dreaming ( a bad one )......... I eat anything but i draw the line here.. Come if u want to laugh or beat yourself up .............

Une fois installés et les plats lancés en cuisine, la serveuse nous avertis que le restau ferme dans 30min... Alors que NON annoncé à notre arrivée ! Elle nous demande de payer au milieu du repas, et la voilà partie 5 minutes après (je précise qu'il était 21h15). Nous avons demandé à ce que les plats ne soient pas épicés ou peu, la serveuse nous répond pas de soucis, les plats arrivent très épicés. Nous voyons la cuisinière partir dans la foulée, une autre personne du restau sort les poubelles devant nous !!! Pendant qu'on mangeait. Et une autre se pointe sur la table d'à côté pour attendre que l'on finisse nos plats à peine entamés et chaud. Nous sommes donc partis dans la foulée, nous avions à peine franchis la porte que la personne derrière nous a éteint la lumière... Accueil vraiment pas convenable...

Sehr authentische Küche, nicht überstürzt und hochwertige Zutaten. Das Personal war äußerst freundlich und der Preis angemessen. Wir würden wiederkommen.

Found this walking down Charing Cross Road. The Sichuan noodles were spicy and tasty, you can ask for reduced spice levels. Got the braised beef noodles, the beef was very tender. The price and portion size were good. I don't know how close this restaurant is to the original one in China, but I will be back.

I've walked past a few times, but I've not had the time to visit. Today I have and I don't regret it. The food was spicy and its what I like. The dan dan noodles were far better than a few places I've has them in recent years, including the Shard. I'll definitely be back.

This place is not for those who are unfamiliar with spicy, Chinese food. This place is a new home for those who want more than that spicy packet ramen. For the price and portion sizes of the noodle bowls and side dishes I could not ask for a better place to finish off or improve a night out. My go to are: Braised Beef Noodles, Cold Cut Braised Beef and Fried Meats.

We genuinely struggled to find something on the menu that we wanted to order as it’s so limited. The beef soup type of dish that I ordered was so spicy that it might blow your head off and was inedible for me. The spring rolls and other sides were just ok. There was no option of alcoholic drinks apart from beer, which was a shame as we would have enjoyed a drink with our meal before going to the theatre.

If you like noodles there’s no better place. In China, noodles are taken very seriously. Each region has its own style and technique, using different methods and ingredients to create various shapes and sizes. Mr Meng specialises in noodles from the Chonqing region, a robust and satisfying affair. Typically served in a spicy broth, this takeaway was truly awesome. Hot soupy spicy noodles with tender beef and Chinese vegetables was wolfed down with serious concentration and no talking required. A bowl of Mr Meng’s finest will light up your evening, recharge you at lunch and (speaking from experience) cure a stubborn hangover! Get in there guys it’s truly awesome!

Menu very limited. Waitress was timid and charming. Noodle soup nicely spiced but beef is extremely low-grade boiled stewing meat. Atmosphere peculiar as Chinese tourists clearly at home, while all other guests are somewhat baffled by the extremely rude payment guy. China Town is vibrant...

Very limited menu. Anything with one chilli on the menu is extremely spicy, if you struggle with heat I wouldn’t recommend. Service from the staff left a lot to be desired, greeted at the door and was just gestured to the corner. Waiter didn’t ask...

I love spicy noodles so I love it's served with hot and spicy soup with sparerib pork was stew until soft and juicy. Highly recommended. Service really bad was delay and ignored from staff.

Very spicy food and awful service. Not for the faint hearted. Avoid anything called “spicy” at all costs.

I have been to here twice. On both occasions, the service was terrible. The waitress had a poker face, not attentive at all. I had to ask twice for a glass of water, and asked twice for the receipt. Even worse than an ordinary Chinese...

This was the biggest piece of chicken in this £13 main dish! This part of the chicken usually goes to the bin. But at Mr Meng is sold for £13. Will never go there again.

We were visiting london with my 3 young dauthers, and we found this adress. Only asian People in the restaurant but us... Well served, nice taste, spicy is... SPICYYY. Very enjoyed moment for the whole family.

I accidentally found this place. Food is authentically Sichuan. Price is reasonable. I would definitely recommend it.
