Mother Mash in City of London, Westminster

I had read the reviews and thought I’d give it the benefit of the doubt. Wish I hadn’t, this is a shocking place. The cauliflower cheese is watery, mushy peas are a very odd colour and from a can, the pies are cold, spiced veg and Camembert had no Camembert in it and the horseradish mash is mash with horseradish on the side. The worst part is, they use SMASH :D claiming its real mash made from piper potatoes. Avoid at all costs, esp if you’re British. This is shocking

Had a lunch here and very disappointed cauliflower cheese which was bland, bubble and squeak was nothing like it should be didn’t have any cabbage in it. The chicken pie was ok and green beans

Great find in Carnaby Street. We had been wandering about trying to find somewhere to eat and had tried many places but they had no tables free. We came across this place and so glad we did. The pies were amazing and we had a nice bottle of wine as well. The only thing was that the tables were very very close together.

Excellent pie and mash and delightful staff. We really enjoyed it here, didn't know it had been running for 18 years, would have been here many times before if we had known. We had a delightful waitress who really went way above our expectations running up to Marks and Spencer's to get us some custard as we made such a fuss when they said they didn't have any. I think the waiter was Spanish and he coped really well with our sense of humour. What a great place. Only moan would be that they don't do tea and coffee but otherwise highly recommended

It's obviously a hit in london since most aren't used to a hearty, homely meal that only dare I say it the working class would love. But where I live this place wouldn't last a month. Yes we did venture to this place considering we could have cooked it ourselfs but we had to be daring i guess. The mash lovely, the gravy we didn't feel it was genuine shall we say , the pies lovely pukka's they were and the sticky toffee pudding was clearly out of the plastic cup it was originally cooked in. So it seems like our dare didn't win. A credit to the staff however who were rushed off their feet yet still kept a professional attitude. Well done !

We visited Carnaby Street restaurant last night and we loved it. The food was superb and service brilliant too. The prices were very reasonable and would highly recommend a visit. The Apple and blackberry crumble with two scoops of ice cream was on a new level!!

Petit salle. Bon acceuil. Les plats sont bons et pas chers pour Londres. Le service est bien. Nous avons bien mangé pour un prix raisonnable.

I ate here with my sister after the suggestion of a friend of her. Located in the famous Carnaby Street, we had lunch in one of the few tables outside. You can choose your own composition with different kind of mashed potatos, sausage or pie, and a gravy of your choice. I went for a cheesy mash with pie and a red wine gravy. So tasty!

Been a handful of times for dinner and dessert and each time had s very positive experience. Not only is the food delicious, the staff is always above and beyond friendly.

Visited as a four. The menu was simple but really really tasty. Food was piping hot and really great thick gravy. Shame we didn’t have time to the try the dessert menu!

Assolutamente da provare, abbiamo mangiato veramente bene (3 pie per due adulti e due bambini) e pagato poco rispetto a tanti pub e ristoranti di Londra. Il locale è piccolo (meglio prenotare sul sito) e il bagno non è molto pulito ma merita per il cibo.

Cibo buono, ma nessun aiuto nel capire le differenze sul menu e i piatti. Abbiamo atteso molto per poter ordinare . La cameriera era sola, molto affannato e poco affabile. Un buon piatto con purè e carne.

A Must Go! Best sausage and mash in town, you can select from a variety of mash ( classic, with cheese, mustard and cheese ) different sausages or pies and delicious selections of gravy too, the classic and the one with red wine were absolutely fantastic. It was so good that we returned the same day for more 💕The area is lovely with all the shops, pubs.. and the restaurant has a small but very convenient terrace for sunny days. Service is good and fast.

Our group ordered a different combination of meat, pie, and gravy. Despite the diversity of the orders we had as a group of 8 people, it definitely was a unanimous decision that it was the best meal we had in London. You just can't go wrong. In my case, I ordered a cheesy mash, chicken pie, and original gravy. It was 10/10 for sure, and I wish I ordered more because it was so good!

Comida típica inglesa, que hay que probar, pero que si te lo ahorras no pasa nada. No está mal, y precio asequible para los precios que normalmente tienen allí.

We were recommended to go to Mother Mash and booked online for 3pm. Arriving at 2:55pm, to be told that the table hadn't been vacated yet. Finally got our table at 3:15. Service was quick and our first waitress was friendly. The food and drinks came out in good time. The Food is good but not outstanding, which is fine. This was served by another friendly waitress. Finally, the bill. We were offered a choice of service charges. I selected no service charge. Our third waitress became sarcastic, saying "didn't you enjoy your meal?" As we split the meal 3 ways, each person was asked the same sarcastic question. When will some restaurants learn that service charges are at the digression of the customer? My view was that this was an average experience.

Our go to pie&mash place when in central london. Re-opened store, staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, such a nice environment. Felt very homely. Amazing food as per usual! And quick and efficient service. Hats off to the staff members

Happened upon this restaurant when looking for somewhere to eat before the theatre. We were out to celebrate a birthday and the server was so kind and friendly. They really made the visit feel really special. The candle in the pudding and singing happy birthday was a lovely touch. Thank you so much. Food was delicious a wonderful selection of traditional dishes. The colcannon was really tasty.

Excellent restaurant despite the lack of some dishes ! Super pie, super mash, super pudding 😻 We strongly recommend it !

The lunch consisting of pies at Mother Mash was delicious and memorable! This was our first time trying British pies and we would definitely recommend Mother Mash to those looking to experience them. They tasted fresh and were the ultimate comfort food! It is a small place so be aware that you may have to wait a bit during peak times. We will definitely make our way again, the next time we visit London!

I ate here for dinner one night before heading to a show. I made a reservation, but made a mistake by going to the other location on accident! They told me not to worry, seated me, and then called the other location letting them know what happened. I ordered the cheesy mustard mash along with one of the spicy sausages. The food was good, although not the best bangers in mash I had in London. The service however, was superb! I would say this is a good place to go for a good, quality, quick meal in London.

we were looking to eat pie and mash but had some dietary restrictions so went online and found mothers mash which offered mash but also catered to dietary needs bookings are a must and those without a booking were not able to get a seat. in here you could pick you pie, your mash and your gravy so you can make multiple combos. we ordered the black stout pie and cheese mash as well as the veggie pie with dairy free mash - both with standard gravy. the portion size was good and was the flavor - the pies were decently flavored; the veggie had more flavor than the black stout. the mash had little flavor so it was better to mix in the gravy overall a nice place to get a decent pie and mash

Food is excellent, nice size portion. Staff is nice. Only drawback is since it is a small restaurant, there’s not a lot of tables, tight space, the tables have to be pushed together to allow more room. Would recommend if you like British sausages.

Io con la mia famiglia siamo andati nel locale di Carnaby Street. Il locale è accogliente e ti fa sentire a casa. Il personale è fantastico, gentile e premuroso! Dopo tanto girare finalmente abbiamo mangiato dell'ottimo cibo inglese. Buona soprattutto la pie di carne. Consiglio vivamente a chi va a Londra e vuole assaggiare tipico cibo inglese senza spendere una fortuna!

We popped in here just in time to snag two seats in the window, and I’m so glad it worked out because we had the best dinner. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was outstanding. The waiter, whose name I unfortunately cannot remember, was just the best I’ve ever encountered. He offered pairing suggestions for our dishes, that elevated the whole meal, but beyond that he was so kind and thoughtful. My husband told him he made his trip, and he really did mean it. We will definitely be back on a future visit.

Adresse à enlever des guides touristiques. Petite portion de purée qui ne rassasie pas même un petit mangeur. J'ai déjà mangé des pies autrement bon. WC à la propreté incertaine, tout au tant que la toute petite cuisine devant laquelle on passe pour aller aux toilettes (en contournant le saut avec l'eau du lavage des sols encore dedans!) et visible par la porte restée ouverte et une vitre.

Took our two granddaughters on a busy Sunday afternoon, absolutely lovely. Staff so friendly and kind to the girls. Food was amazing, best veggie sausages I’ve ever tasted! Child portions for £5, everything was faultless. The girls wanted Brownies for dessert but clearly a popular option as they had been sold out but two “alternative brownies” were magically prepared.
