Mother India Kitchen in Wirral

Had a meal here as a family of 4, seated straight away and offered drinks, really good choice on menu and they were more than happy to personalise a dish for me. Food came out quickly and was delicious! Will definitely be back!

Went to mother india Saturday had a 6.30 reservation ended up eating at 20.05 asked for water it never came then received our bill which was triple what we expected and was given to us by mistake 😠,when asked whether are food is we kept getting we're busy,I won't be going back.

I can only imagine this was an anomaly - had a murgh makani and a lamb tikka bhuna with two rotis to takeaway on a Sunday night. Watery tasteless sauces and burnt overdone breads, I was truly shocked. Have had so many great curries here over the last few years, it's so often excellent I don't know what to say...

We went for a family meal earlier, and when the menus were put in front of us there was 2 different prices on each differing menu. We asked which menu to go off, the cheaper or more expensive? We were told to use the cheaper prices (I'm guessing because we were the only people in there at the time. 5 of us sat in to eat, and we ordered a takeaway for another 2 people at home. The 5 of us ordered 2 tandoori sharing platers between us and the food was really good to start with. The main meals came out with 2 peshawar naan breads........ The first naan bread had *THICK BLACK PUBES* sticking out of it. I showed the waiter straight away and he said, "eeee I'll get that changed for you now." As he brought the second batch of meals to the table, he also had our second peshawar naan bread and said that the replacement was being made now. The second one also had *THICK BLACK PUBES* in it.......he took that away as well. Both naan breads did get replaced, and totally pubeless!! My meal was meant to be chicken breast, but it comes with thighs (l'm not a fan), but I didnt say anything. A courtesy sagaloo bhaji small dish was delivered to the table, which we thought was a small apology for the PUBEY naan breads. As we had NEARLY finished our meals I ordered the other 2 takeaway meals. When I asked for the bill, not only were the naan breads on it, they'd also charged us according to the more expensive menu. When I questioned it at the counter, I was told that the small plate sagaloo was to compensate for the menu confusion. So for 7 meals, 5 Pilau rice, 3 peshawar naans (because one of them was to go), 2 sharing plater starters and poppadoms, we got charged roughly £1 per item extra (compensated by a sagaloo starter) and the peshawar naans remained on the bill. The waiter said that he WOULDN'T take the naan breads off the bill because they'd been replaced and he said that he'd be happy to pay for them if it was him. Unbelievable!!! He offered to take a pound off the bill for each of the 2 sharing plates. 2 whole pound!! Over £135 for the 5 sitting in to eat (with a drink each), and another near £19 for the 2 takeaway meals. £155 for a meal with pubes in it and not even an apology to accompany them. Absolutely disgusting!!! We aren't regulars at this 'restaurant', but we do go from time to time, but a lot of my family and friends do frequent the place.........not any more. Vile.

Ate here early evening, the staff were welcoming, friendly & efficient. The masala dosas were delicious! A great choice of vegetarian meals, beautifully cooked pilau rice & naans. Even the house white wine was lovely. It was our first visit but certainly will not be our last. Thanks to all concerned. Highly recommend that you visit and see for yourselves.

We came here as a family on a Wednesday 040924. The hospitality was great. The food was good for mum whom had chicken biryani and I had lamb jalfrezi. The kids were not impressed by the butter chicken and other chicken dish and asked me to taste them. They did not eat theirs. The dishes were off may be too much ghee (my diagnosis). Otherwise parking can be tricky as it is main road like most restaurants in the Wirral. I should have tried the kerala dishes like fish molly.

5/5 For a lovely dining experience. Our first time at this restaurant. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was gorgeous!! We ate everything! Tasted authentic, not oily, not too salty or processed, just fresh tasty meals. We will return again.

We've discovered this local Indian recently and are blown away with the quality and value. We've had the set menu twice now and it has quickly become a regular for us. The food is so tasty & feels relatively healthy to eat. Not too much cream in the sauces which we love and lots of fresh herbs and spices used. We've had a set menu for 3 people and we love it. Highly recommended Indian.

First time visit on a Saturday night recently. Service was very good, staff very chatty and friendly. Menu had plenty of choice and food when it arrived was fresh and very tasty. This is definitely somewhere we'd like to visit again.

I bought porotta and beef fry from mother India which was not at all nice and caused me gastro intestinal problems.I won’t recommend anyone to have at least these dishes from here.

Probably the best Indian I've been to on the Wirral, try the dosa!

I'm returning to Australia tomorrow so this was my final meal with the family. It didn't disappoint. I ordered Lamb Passanda with Pilau rice. So nice. All our meals were great. Sides were brill and dips etc. We popped in to pick up our order and the highlight was meeting the lovely Casey who took our order. So good to chat to her and her knowledge of the food and menu was great. Wish we had places like this in Oz. Thanks again.

We recently had a family wedding meal here for 20 people, Sebastian and team did a fabulous job. As usual the food was delicious, the service friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. A Fabulous wedding feast We booked Mother India for our daughter’s wedding and what a wonderful Keralan wedding feast it was. Sebastian is a superb chef earning a standing ovation from the wedding party. The service was outstanding throughout the night and the staff were accommodating when friends popped in and we stayed much longer than anticipated. We are very lucky having Mother India in Hoylake.

This has to be the best Indian restaurant I have been to both in Wirral and for many years. So friendly and non-pretentious, just brilliant food and a different menu to all the same olds… Thank you!

Great takeaway madras and butter chicken

Visited early on a Friday evening, but even then was relatively busy. But quick service. Excellent spicy kebab starter and tasty Chicken Kathmandu main with peshwari naan.

We visited at 5.30 on a Saturday evening. It was our first visit but won’t be our last - it was great. The food was really tasty and the menu offered lots of different meals we hadn’t tried before. The 3 staff waiting on were so friendly and welcoming - they obviously loved their job. It was my birthday and they surprised me with a cake at the end. I've been to hundreds of Indian restaurants, including in India. This is the best. It's authentic and the food tastes that way. Every year, the owner/chef Seb flies home and fills cases full of Indian spices and the like to bring back to ensure his menu's authenticity. That's commitment. The menu contains both the expected and never-before-heard of and benefits from that - and Seb will even cook 'off menu' for you. They even sell dosa! All the staff are genuinely lovely and very chatty. It may not look swish, but, as they say, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. It has never once been anything less than excellent.

75 min wait for food, got their attention numerous times, ignored....walked out.

Visited here recently. The place was not busy but they forgot to bring the drinks. Waited twenty minutes from ordering before going over to remind them. The food was excellent, good portions, fresh and spicy, the staff were very cheerful and helpful in their recommendations and advice regarding how spicy we wanted it and got it spot on. Good value for your money. Overall a good experience and would recommend, just need to give more attention to the service side.

What a great find for us whilst visiting Hoylake for The Open Golf Championship. We visited twice during the week. The food was absolutely superb both times, and of the nicest Indian meals I’ve ever had. The two waitresses, Elba and Casey, really made us very welcome and were super friendly and great fun. We met the owner/chef too and thanked him for a great experience. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re in town.

Worst customer service, I ordered take away online they didn't even see the order after travelling 30 mins, they informed in a very rude way it would take another 30 to 40 mins and i asked them politely why didn't you call and inform me then that you didn't see the online order, They informed dismissively, can you not see how busy we are ? we have other customers

Had Lamb karayi upon sugges of Elba as we wanted real spicy meal. Turned out to be it was even better than our expectation, Loved it. Casey served us Roti and good at customer service, whilst Elba was also outstanding with everything including order taking, explaining menu, suggesting suitable food. Surely gona comeback

This restaurant is special. The food is beautiful, it is cooked without cheating. A restaurant is not just the chef. It includes everyone around him. The people who take your order are just delightful thoughtful kind people. They want you to be happy. It means something. The whole experience of eating there means something and trust me I have spent a great deal of time in Indian restaurants and this means something. The Mother India achieves all this and much more. You don’t have to listen to me just try it for yourselves and you will see.

Eaten from the takeaway menu from here many times and never been disappointed. Decided to eat in for our wedding anniversary and was surprised how different the eat in menu was. Everything including the food, service and wine were absolutely top class. We will not hesitate to dine in here again. Highly recommend.

Five of us had an excellent meal here. We have always been fans of Indian food, and this was up there with the best we've had. The Masala dosas were delicious. As was the dry mutton curry starter. We will be going again!

Had dinner here Dec 10th 2022 and the food was fabulous. There is a whole page of vegetarian options, all of which can be made vegan, and they offer gluten free variations too. I had the chef's mushroom curry from that list and it was absolutely delicious. I'm a chilli-wimp, so asked for it to be very mild, and was not disappointed; it was mild, but full of flavour. My 6 friends were all very pleased with their choices too. The waiting staff are lovely, friendly, helpful and very obliging and aware. I highly recommend this venue. My meal - under £12.

Great Taste, Great Value, Great Price

Food exceptional, staff ,service great , young lady that served us was fun, friendly , all round great experience.

Very average. The pickles tasted bland and the bhajis were not fresh. If they had been hand made in house they had definitely been frozen before cooking for us and were tasteless and stodgy. I had a biryani, which was ok but lacked any significant flavour. Considering that this dish is traditionally cooked as a celebratory meal it did not feel anywhere near as special as it should do. My wife enjoyed her chicken dish but we both agreed that we had not seen anything to make us want to go back there again. We also agreed that the room itself was well due for a good clean and refurbishment. Damp stains on the ceiling are never a good sign when you're going out for dinner! In my opinion there are many much better and cheaper places to visit if you were looking for a curry nearby.

Good restaurant and good sitting. Service is a bit slow sometimes. Parking is paid mostly but some off street parking is free whole day and some close by street parking is free after 6pm so check. Staff is friendly and food quality is very good

Terrible staff and service, average to poor food. Arrived at 7:30 as a table of 6 and before we'd even had a chance to all sit down we were asked for our drink order. Felt rushed but we ordered everything before 8pm. Starters arrived in about 30-40mins. Asked for 4 plain and 3 spicy poppadoms but were given the opposite. The lime pickle was mostly salt. Onion bhaji starter was greasy but not too bad. Masala dosa was ok but it was double layered dosa so not authentic. We then waited over 90 mins further for our mains. We had asked for the eta on our mains on a few occasions and weren't really told anything and didn't receive any apology. On the last time we asked, we were told that they had run out of sizzler plates but we weren't aware that we had ordered any sizzler plates. Turns out my sister's dopiaza was served on a sizzler plate, not how anywhere else serves. The garlic chapatti had no flavour and dough was only just cooked. Chettinad curry was luke warm, bland and nothing how it should be. Food was served to us on a tray which had a stained towel/flannel which isn't a huge deal but is not appealing. The restaurant was half full, with at least 2-3 takeaway orders that we saw, probably alot more. 3 drinks were removed from the bill which was kind of them but we didn't receive any thanks or goodbye at the end of the meal before we left. The waiter tried to take two unfinished beers from the table on two occasions. Each staff member wore completely different clothes, so much so that we had no idea who worked there or not. Toilets were grim and door was very dirty. Would not recommend and would not go back.
