Nice Bar and Restaurant. Good for Lunch

Only dropped in for coffee and scone with friends and all good. However on previous occasions when I've been in for dinner with friends I can rate food 4/5.

I was at the Mosset last Saturday for a family 60th and had the best time ! Everything was seamless from the service to the beautiful food and attentive and friendly staff! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a casual lunch /dinner to something really special ! Thanks to everyone for a great time !

Friendly, good value, tasty steak well cooked ie medium rare. Quaffable red house wine.

Gone downhill. Prices gone up and quality of food down. 3 courses and all disappointing. Used to go at least once a month but won't be returning.

Went to a business event as a speaker. Staff were very nice.. didn't have any food.

We had another lovely meal for my husband's birthday at the Mosset last week. The staff were really helpful and accommodating for my son who has a limited range of food. We had the 2 course lunch meal, my husband and elder son had steak (which was delicious) and I had the chicken bites and as usual it was amazing. The boys had apple pie for pudding and my husband and I had the creme brulee with blood orange sorbet. I'm not a fan of orange but the sorbet was perfect. Not too tart or sweet. The creme brulee was beautifully rich and creamy. The kids loved their pudding and didn't leave a drop. We love the Mosset and always have a brilliant experience with the Mosset team. Will be back again soon!

One of the places to go for food! Hats off to the chefs!! It's been a struggle to find good quality food up here but this place sure does it! Never felt ripped off by the portion sizes and definitely need a sleep after.

Beautifully cooked and presented food at reasonable prices. Attentive service and the restaurant has a lovely ambience with all the fairy lights. Do enjoy a visit to The Mosset Tavern. Definitely recommend a visit. The venison steak was delicious!

Stayed in their rental flat above the tavern which was excellent, had dinner and drinks in the tavern, food was excellent and service was spot, would def return, great all round incl value value for money.

We have always enjoyed coming to the Mosset when on holiday in the area which we do three or four times a year. However, over the last year we have failed to get a table at The Mosset on three simultaneous occasions. On one occasion we were told that the bar was "too busy", on another occasion we were refused as we had both our grandson and our dog with us and this week we were brusquely informed that"We're not taking any walk-ins today...". It wouldn't have been so bad if the young gentlemen had explained how sorry he was and that they were very busy, but no. So, sadly, The Mosset is now off the menu for us for fear of any further refusals!

Went mainly so my girlfriend could get a carvery. I had the fish and chips and we were both thoroughly impressed at how good the food was. I had the sticky toffee pudding and it was a good bit bigger than you often get in restaurants. Service was excellent from the attentive staff. Add to that, it was all fairly priced for the portion sizes, we will definitely be back.

We came as a treat (rare night out with having small children) the food was absolutely delicious specifically the cajon chicken and the sizes of the meals were well worth the price the only grumble I would have is when I put my cutlery down to show my partner something on my phone the waitor came over while lifting my plate asking if I was finished but I couldn't answer with a full mouthful that I wasn't 🤣 my partner then didn't want to put his cutlery down in-between breaks on his pudding incase it was whisked away , we felt quite rushed and when paying quite alot for a meal we wanted to relax and take our time

I like the Mosset. I've been coming here for years and I think it gets better each year. The staff and service are good. There are tasty vegan options, the atmosphere is relaxed but smart, it feels Scottish in the decoration and vibe, the best qualities of a pub with the ambiance of a restaurant. One thing I have noticed is that the team listen to feedback and make adjustments. There is an accessible and inclusive toilet. I recommend this place to anyone visiting Morayshire. Thank you!

Went on Sunday with my family. Had an excellent meal complimented with excellent service and an extremely fine pint. The restaurant has a very relaxed feel. An excellent establishment 10/10.

Went here as a family of seven to celebrate some birthdays. Service was good from the start. The food was excellent, with some of the group struggling to clean their plates. Definitely recommend.

Popped in with the pup while up visiting with a friend, the lovely ladies behind the bar made a fuss over the pup and made us feel very welcome. Will definitely go for a few when I'm next up that way 😊

Great location. Right in the heart of Forres, but seems almost rural because of the river walk. Excellent food. I went with their signature burger. It was far nicer than a Brodie burger from brodie country fayre (a nearby rival). Prices similar

We recently visited after the new menu was released And we’re very impressed with the changes. There is something for everyone with a great choice. We have eaten here many times before but we think that this is their best menu so far. We will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

The food was really good. HOWEVER, when we asked if we could have a pudding of the specials menu, we were told no as we hadn't had a main from that menu, this was disappointing as it was my wifes birthday which they were aware off and her that wanted a pudding from the menu. We won't be going again for this reason as we didn't feel like we were being accommodated for as the paying customer and left a bitter / negative atmosphere on the experience.

Had a lovely meal here with my son (18) and friends. I had the roast turkey followed by the sweetest of puddings, banoffee meringue. Very busy so would recommend booking a table. Good selection of drinks. Limited parking but amble surrounding streets to park Accessible by wheelchair via entrance although I would certainly phone ahead as floor spacing might be an issue depending on table placements. I personally would say best for teenagers rather than younger children.

Lovely lunch. Very attentive staff who spoilt granddaughter. Good menus for children and adults. Will definitely return.

A welcome lunch break on a drive from Aberdeen to Inverness

Attended a murder mystery last night which was great fun. The food the mosset prepared was amazing and the service was second to non with well mannered pleasant and efficient staff. Great night out.

Posh pub grub, also nice classics. Good service in a modern setting. Tasty food and a good selection of real ales. Dog friendly, well worth a stop

Went to the mosset on a recommendation Was not disappointed the food was beautifully presented And so tasty freindly and attentive staff in lovely surroundings The wood burning stove gave the bar area a lovely cosy atmosphere I will definitely be back for another grand feed When next in forres

When we entered the Tavern we were met with a very friendly smiley member of staff which was lovely. There were 4 of us having a meal, 2 had the Chicken Schnitzels and they both said it was delicious. I had Fillet of Scrabster Haddock, yum, yum, and my sister in law had the Mosset Burger which she enjoyed very much. My husband and sister in law had dessert, Ikky Sticky Toffee pudding and Banoffee Meringue. (Photo below) We had a lovely evening, all the staff were very friendly, I have no hesitation in recommending the establishment. Looking forward to our next visit.

Stopped for a quick lunch while out on our bikes. Lovely Panini and a great macaroni cheese and chips. Both came with a lovely fresh dressed salad. Good food, good service and excellent value. Definitely worth a visit.

Wow, just wow, Mosset Tavern is the place to go. We had booked a table for dinner and was blown away by the really nice food, (highly recommend the Sunday carvery) All the staff were very nice to us and so attentive. Price was great too. Massive thumbs up from me, keep it up folks.

Went out for lunch with friends. The food was excellent and there was the option of having smaller plate sizes. Service was first class.

Lovely place to have Sunday lunch. Warm and inviting. Very friendly staff and good service. We had the carvery lunch, which was superb. Choice of roast meat carved for you and help yourself to the veg. All fresh and hot. We sat in the bar where there is a lovely wood burner to keep you toasty.

Food is always of a very high standard....scallops and ox cheeks just excellent . Melt in your mouth. Priced very reasonably for the quality served. Staff very friendly.

Walked over from the football grounds with no reservation in the hopes of a quick hot meal. Warm welcome and I lucked out getting a table. It was burger night. Delicious burger, dining room full of happy couples and families. The staff were all very pleasant and professional. Reasonable meal deal and best burger meal I've had in quite some time. (I would make a reservation)

Fantastic family night out 1.10.23. I was on business but grabbed the opportunity with my relatives to enjoy some real tasty pub grub, and we weren't disappointed. Start to finish, nothing was too much trouble and the food was so tasty and filling. 100% recommend and will visit next time in the area.

It’s been a while since we last dined out. But this was exactly the place and meal you want to have to break the cycle of always bring home. Warm, friendly welcome and we were given a lovely window table with plenty room for the pram. We skipped starters this time for no other reason our own time restrictions. Our main courses were the sea bass and the house burger, both incredible. Dessert was the caramel apple pie and the churros, again, phenomenal! Finished off with a couple of coffees. Was a tremendous meal and will be back for the Sunday carvery!!!

Menu not as good as it was and the Mossett has lost something. I don't know exactly what, but I do know that I don't enjoy visiting as much as I did.

Nice quiet place, friendly clientele and friendly, cheerful staff. The food is out of this world good. I had Cajun chicken and my wife had the 3 cheese Mac and cheese. Both were wonderful. Prices are pretty much the same as elsewhere in Scotland. Highly recommend Mosset Tavern.

I know I go here a lot, but it really can't be faulted.the food and drink are always great. The key thing however is the quality of the service, it is always top notch . In short a great place to go.

The Mosset Tavern is a hidden gem in Forres. Slightly off the high street, but worth the trip. It has a pool table, great beer selection and a large outdoor area. The food was exceptional, we had the Korean chicken starter which was an unexpected delight, main courses great too. Would highly recommend.

Sea bass absolutely delicious. Unfortunately had a to ask for dessert menus as appeared to have forgotten to bring them, but couldn't fault The Mosset Posset when it arrived

Staff and service are fantastic

Had lunch in here on Sunday afternoon. There was a carvery and it was great. We also had dessert mixed berry pavlova with tea afterwards. Absolute value for money considering today's prices. Facilities were excellent and the surroundings very scenic, we decided to take a stroll around the river afterwards.

Visited today for the Sunday Carvery In summary had a really nice meal at a good price, was not too busy and great views outside. I would definitely visit again, this time I would visit on a Tuesday for Quiz Night or Friday for the Steak Offer. I would summarise my visit today as; Food (4-Stars) Was on the whole excellent - I had all beef, turkey and gammon, all were cooked really well. The cauliflower cheese and sweed was excellent and good giant Yorkshire puddings. The only negatives were the roast potatoes were pretty poor....they seamed deep fried rather that roasted, very hard and dry and tasted bland - I did not eat them. The mash potato was dry - needed mill/butter - however I mixed them with gravy. I had no room for a pudding as the Carvery was plentiful and very filling. Service/atmosphere/Value for Money (5-Starts) Great with no complaints

I was delighted to stumble across this pub/restaurant in Forres this evening. I was seated quickly, had my food within 10 minutes, and everything was great quality with substantial portions. The side salad with my Mac and Cheese was better quality than some salads that are sold as separate menu items in other venues, and I enjoyed the chilli corn. They also had a huge range of alcohol free beers available, which was very much appreciated as I was running the Moray Coast Way the following morning and wanted to keep a clear head. I will be back in Forres in November and will be sure to revisit, thanks for a 10/10 meal.

A nice tavern, divided in a dining room (open to all) and a pub (not accessible to children). Very nice staff, efficient service, complete menu, good choice of beers. The food is prepared with attention, and is really good. Exception for the ice cream that was really poor in our opinion.

I met there on a first date and everything was excellent. Very reasonably priced too !

We came here after raving about it last year on our visit to Forres, excited to leave our favourite restaurant till our last night here and to introduce our favourite eatery to my partner. When we were given the menus we realised that it had changed massively - reduction in choices, mostly seafood based, and the prices were extortionate compared to other places we had eaten in the week. We ordered prawns to start and small sirloin steaks that were a whopping £26.80! (Not even Miller & Carter steakhouse charge that for a sirloin steak!) However - we paid it because we knew it was amazing last time and expected the same. The prawns never turned up and out came the mains. All over cooked, tasted purely of charcoal / the grill and covered in gristle. The garlic butter was essentially water and the quality was unbelievably disappointing. The best part of the meal was the grilled tomatoes. Our waitress was so apologetic and lovely, and I was so upset as it was that we just paid the bill and left as quickly as possible without too much complaint other than expressing our dismay. However - I would recommend that people venture out to other areas such as Nairn & Elgin for meals or to other areas of Forres. We won’t be returning - which has been a huge heartache of this trip.

Lovely food. Great service. I had chicken with chilli and BBQ sauce with a salted caramel apple pie and custard which was great. The whole family enjoyed their meal. You can get smaller portions and kids menu too.

We went here for a funeral wake. The staff were excellent. The food and service was good .Downside was it needs more parking

Our first visit to the Tavern and very impressed. Although we stay in Inverness we shall certainly visit again. Very pleasant and attentive staff. Most importantly the restaurant food was just so good. The starters of Thai style fish cakes and the sticky Korean chicken fillets were so tasty. From the signature dishes we chose the superb braised ox cheeks and the fillet of haddock. Although the restaurant was busy staff service was very good.

This was a recommendation whilst we visited Forres. A lovely old pub with outside seating next to a river walk. Great seafood and reasonably priced. Small car park but on street parking available a short walk away.

Lovely food, excellent service, bought a friend to visit and to have a lovely meal. It's a shame that there was a rowdy bunch of people, that spoiled the atmosphere. Left before deserts as got fed up with the rowdy people.
