Mordentes Fish and Chips in Dundee City

Had a haggis supper asked assistant to wrap it up well as I had to go a distance. Well when I got home chips were cold and must have been about 12 to 15 chips , haggis was good.last time I went into the shop they wrapped the supper in foil have to do better folks or will lose customers

Popped in for takeaway fish and chips and as it was later in the evening the fish seemed very dry inside the batter, no issues with price or service

We have been going to Mordentes for years now, ever since the Evening Telegraph gave them a five star review. Fish and chips have always been great But ! The portions have been gradually getting smaller over time and now the portion of chips you receive is ridiculously small, in fact if you want a normal sized portion you need to buy an extra portion and share it !!!! Perhaps this is what they want !! Having said all that, the quality is always good but c'mon Mordentes dont be so greedy with your £2 a bag chips ...

Gary’s fish and chips are the best in Dundee. I rarely have fish and chips anywhere else because it doesn’t compare. The batter is great and the chips are so tasty. Big portions and delicious. Look forward to it.

Fui aquí para pedir 4 cenas. ¡Tuve que esperar a que la atendieran ya que la camarera estaba charlando en su teléfono! Sin embargo, después de dar mi pedido y esperar 10 minutos, el servidor me informó que no les quedaban fichas y que no podrían completar mi pedido. Expresé mi decepción cortésmente, diciendo que era "bastante pobre", esto se encontró con una andanada de abuso y el servidor dijo agresivamente "bueno, no es mi culpa", ¡en realidad fue tu culpa! Usted me sirvió, estaba cocinando la comida, seguramente es su responsabilidad saber cuánta comida tiene disponible. El lugar también estaba muy sucio, por lo que en retrospectiva probablemente funcionó a nuestro favor. Simplemente no es un lugar agradable con un pésimo servicio al cliente, nunca volveré.

Mi compañero y yo cenamos pescado con esta astilladora, el pescado estaba tan seco que tuvimos que tirarlo a la basura, comida costosa que podríamos haber conseguido en otro lugar y disfrutamos.

food was terrible, like i got served chips that had sat all night portion was small asked for salt and vinegar which was watered down chips all soggy with puddle of water at bottom of the tray chips were served on

Great chippy, we regularly get our grub from here and I've never had a reason to complain. Food is great and you always get good service.

Ordered the jumbo haddock. Was amazing huge and tasty but if I'm paying that price... YOU OUGHT TO GIVE ME A JUMBO PORTION OF CHIPS COME. ON TAE FUDGE.

My last visit was in September 2016, when I submitted a negative comment regarding their greasy fritters. This time, on the way home from a fantastic on-screen West End performance of 'An American in Paris' at DCA, I popped in near closing time for a small fish and their final 3 fritters. Fast, pleasant service, and I was charged for only 2 fritters as the other was kinda small. Greasy? Well, yes, they were, but I'm deducting no Brownie points this time as the food was very tasty, and I love their batter... and banter! .

Staff were friendly, helpful, knowledgable about special dietary requirements. The place was clean and tidy, everything was freshly made, and super tasty. Chips are cooked in separate fryer in vegetable oil so are completely vegan and should be suitable for all dietary requirements.

One of my favourite chip shops and great value! Very few better in Dundee. Also best fritters in Dundee

I order often for delivery or go in to pick up order. Staff always friendly and food is always fantastic, hot and fresh. If could rate 10 out of 10 believe me I would. Keep up the great food and banter folks. Paul

Their chips are practically frozen, they’re that undercooked, absolutely minging. I don’t recommend unless you like making yourself sick

Freshest fish I have ever tasted. New update in steak pies but very tasty. Great friendly service from the girls. Always welcoming for new and existing customers

Second visit here and was very disappointed, certainly wont be back. Got a chicken which was the size of a blackbird and a white pudding which was only warm. Fritters were quite greasy and were all sizes: 2 about and inch thick, far too much potato and were actually half of a slice, obviously they thought they were too big! When I put them together that is the size I would expect. 4 decent sized and 4 which were tiny. Surely when the potatoes are so small you would expect 2 fritters. My husband was passing a couple of days later and went in told them he wasn't happy and the woman said" that's they way the potatoes are cut". He then said" I wont be back" and she said "it's up to you"

Visité por primera vez y solo tuvimos un par de salchichas, fueron fantásticos, caliente, sabroso y el personal muy amable y la comida es preparada a la orden y los precios son muy razonables, 3 tamaños de peces, no tienes que en muchos otros lugares.

Decidimos hacer un té y una noche chippie regresamos aquí como ha sido buena en el pasado. Por desgracia, esta vez fue muy decepcionante. Elegí el jumbo pescado y patatas fritas, y aunque tenía buena pinta cuando llegué a su casa a comer mi unwrapped disfrute parado. Aunque el pescado era bastante grande, la cantidad de grasa debajo del aceite era frito en era asqueroso. This is my regular chippy, in fact I travel from Carnoustie to visit it. That's how good it is. Never had bad service or food from it.

Desde Aberdeen! Maltratada scampie es mi favorito, el abadejo con buñuelos. Siempre fresco para pedir 😊

No estoy convencido de críticas negativas de aquí. La Jumbo con cena de pescado v generosa y buena relación calidad-precio. Pescado cocinado a diferencia también fish and chips tiendas. Personal muy agradable. Yo soy el otro extremo de la ciudad, pero dispuestos a hacer el viaje!

Mordenties regular en la carretera de Arbroath. El personal es genial la comida es siempre fresca. Debo decir que la oferta de comida Jumbo es una gran elección. Probamos el resto ahora visitar lo mejor!

Sin falta tendré el Jumbo eglefino. Una gran pieza apropiada de pescado gusto a carne en pasta crujientes. Pone a muchas otras tiendas de vergüenza!

We have takeaways from here on a regular basis and thoroughly recommend it. The food is cooked fresh and there is plenty to choose from. Service is quick too.

First time trying this chip shop and was absolutely spectacular. Nice crispy batter and asked for a standard haddock which was of a bigger size than I expected. Highly recommend

Had a king rib supper which was really good. I'm in every couple of weeks and have always had great food, never been disappointed. There's always a bit of a wait as they cook your order fresh. Would definitely recommend their fritters!

I was in at the weekend and its the first time I have had to throw Fish and chips in the bin. I should have known better as the place is in need of a deep clean but I was hungry. Big massive fish I thought until i opened it up to find it was all batter and little fish. The second i tasted the fish I knew it was off and had to spit it out. The chips seemed to be re-heats.Very disappointed. Wee lassie behind the counter seemed to be more interested in the gang of neds (that she called by name) than to serve me.Wont be back

Decided on a cold rainy night that I couldn't be bothered cooking and decided to get a takeaway. Having visited many takeaways of various types I decided to give Mordente's a try. Was welcomed in by the heat of the shop and the friendly staff. Ordered a jumbo haddock supper and was surprised how big 'jumbo' was. Large piece of fish and perfectly seasoned chips all for a very valuable price compared to other chip shops. Would recommend anyone who hasn't been to go give it a try. You won't be disappointed!!

Very poor. Called in to Arbroath Road for a Haggis supper and would have been as well eating the paper it came in. Chips had raw potato and haggis was dripping in grease. Hot girl behind counter only thing going for it and even then she spoke like an Ardrossan Sealion

I popped into Mordentes yesterday for a Jumbo haddock supper, and have to say i was less than impressed. The chips were greasy and not fully cooked through, and the fish batter wasnt crispy in the slightest. Felt sick afterwards, never again for me.

Was needing a Fish Supper when saw the welcome sign, last welcome thing about those purveyor of the Fish Supper. Batter grease and grease between fish and batter. More than generous portion of chips accompanied that excuse for a fish. I love chips and fac lit at the amount, so to leave me after first chip entered my mouth, cold and undercooked. I did think of saying but surly nature of the fryer made me put this down to a bad mistake.Will not be stopping any time soon. Also teenage girl doing hair and makeup behind the counter.

Soggy cold chips shrivelled up thing inside soggy batter. Avoid at all costs. The old man on the fryer was leering my young daughter who's 11.

My preferred meal of choice is the Jumbo Haddock. A large, meaty portion of fresh fish, not some skinny fillet hidden inside the batter that you can really enjoy. Staff are friendly and take time to interact with customers when it's not too busy...be prepared to wait a while if it is as most items are cooked to order.

Dundee has many fish and chip shops but of varying quality - Mordentes had 3 branches in Dundee and the Arbroath Road outlet is consistently good - their jumbo haddock supper is especially delicious and usually cooked to order. Very tasty range of black and white pudding suppers as well. Local specialities include potato fritters and their own onion rings and onion ring loafs are very good - if an occasional treat. Chips are also consistently well fried.You can also phone your order in or they will deliver If you have a preference for lightly cooked fish or well fried just ask and they'll accommodate - it's not the cheapest outlet in Dundee but very good value at this quality of ingredients.Recommended
