Monterey Jacks Braehead in Renfrewshire

Went to Monterey Jack’s in Braehead Xsite. Been before and burgers were lovely however… Went today, we had over an hour wait for our food on about 25% / 30% tables. Very poor. Wife ordered a cheese and bacon beef burger and as did I. After about 20 minutes came back and checked and advised beef was from a new supplier so couldn’t guarantee it was not contaminated (they need to update the more webpage menu as says burgers are available GF). So she asked for the skinless chicken burger, I stated at start of order and again I wasn’t cealiac. So my burger eventually arrived….notice anything? It’s a chicken burger, which I didn’t order, was raging after an hour wait on some simple food (I don’t have a gluten allergy) and then a further 10 minutes before my wife’s arrived. So I returned mine (untouched), spoke to the manager, he was unbelievable sympathetic about the service and speed. We didn’t pay and I would suggest avoiding for 4-5 weeks till the my sort out their service and website. Shame as first time we went about a year ago it was great. Doubt I’ll go back or take my kids back either.

This is my second time visiting this restaurant. The first time I cannot fault, however this time was very different. Although quiet, there was only one man running the entire place, he would start clearing tables and then would go and do another job half way through. Food arrived burnt despite it being freezing cold, desserts that were ordered arrived without the said ingredients i.e no caramel sauce. It is a very awkward atmosphere, for the first half an hour the place was silent, no music or anything and half way through music was then blasted through the tv. Our finished plates from our meal sat at our table for around 20 minutes until our dessert was brought out. Far better places to eat and get better service at XSite than this place.

Went for a family meal and the service was terrible. Ordered starters and 1 starter was cold also 3 children with us and they bring out 2 children's meals adult meal burger was still pink in the middle and we were seated for over 1 hour and didn't get asked if he wanted anymore drinks, short staffed and also wasn't worth £126 😑

Went into the restaurant at 18:30 and advised that it was bookings only, even though there were plenty of tables. Went online and booked and went back in. We were advised there would be a wait for food but didn’t think it would take 45 minutes, we also had to ask for a second drink. There were tables not cleared and people getting seated with bookings next to these. Everyone was complaining about the wait and asking what was happening with the food. When I got my order and the burger was cold and chips (supposedly atomic) were just chips with no seasoning and jalapeños dumped over them. We also seen one of the chefs pick a chip of a bowl under the hot plate. We overheard one of the servers tell another table they were understaffed. You would have been as well shutting the place for the night or cancelling some bookings because you could feel the tension with people waiting. Wouldn’t go back to this one in a hurry.

We went for a Christmas catch up with friends We waited 40 minutes for someone to take our order. I eventually had to go lookin for the waiter. He took the order then we waited another 20 mins after tht for drinks to arrive. In total from when the order was took it was 45 mins until the food arrived. The food was ok nothing special. The table next to us had been waiting a long while aswell.

Both of us had a great meal. First time in Monterey Jack's and brilliant portion size. Staff were friendly and quick. Would visit again.

Went here for food before attending event nearby - big mistake! The service was slow and staff not friendly or helpful. We were on the verge of leaving when after a very long wait, the food arrived and it was cold. I ordered Chilli Nachos - the nachos were burnt but the food was cold. We hardly ate any of the food and due to the long wait we had we were then in a hurry to get to the event we were attending and asked for the bill. I told the guy that the Nachos were burnt and cold and queried him charging for them. He said nobody told him that before the bill was requested. £55.85 for 3 food items and 3 drinks - Waste of our time and money.

Went for nice dinner, Amazing food and staff service. The staff were very nice although the waiting times were quite long. Apart from that I would Highly recommend this place for a nice meal out.

Terrible experience sat for 47 mins before drink was served to me, wasn't once approached about ordering food, had to order it through qr code.people were leaving the restaurant around us and could hear people complaining all while we say there, would not recommend wasting your time or money going here.

Partner and I ordered nachos to start and chicken meals for our main which did take quite a while to come. About halfway through our meal the waiter with a buzzcut was swearing very loudly that we could hear from our table, he then proceeded to kick over a wet floor sign and storm into the kitchen. Did not feel safe. Will not be back.

The food was tasty and portions were of a good size. Staff were attentive and friendly, especially Chris. Would have given a five star rating if the price was more reasonable. The place was empty and I think this was due to the food being a bit overpriced. Would recommend though.

Friendly staff, great activity sheet for our kids and food was good. Burgers a little pricey but other options more reasonable. Surprised by so many negative reviews, our experience was fine and I would return if we were close by again.

Food was really disappointing. £12.50 for a burger alone.? We ordered two burgers and loaded fries. The burgers were nothing special and we were actually tempted halfway through our meal just to leave and go to five guys instead. The loaded fried were horrible. The scoop of sour cream over the chilli and chips just made it sickening. I could still taste it in the pit of my stomach several hours later.. We don’t mind paying for expensive meals but we do expect the quality of the food to worthy of the price. Ironically, there is a sign on the wall trying to justify to customers that they should pay more for quality meat produce. Sadly, this food is no where near the quality it should be to be displaying that poster. We won’t be back. The service we received was decent.

It reminded me why I never eat in shopping centres - overpriced nonsense in an atmosphereless venue. Took nearly 50 minutes for our two burgers to arrive even though the place was quiet - I could see into the kitchen where the 'chef' looked like he was having a meltdown after messing up the table of 6 before us who seemed to be getting everything except what they ordered. We also sat with empty drinks glasses after about 20 mins in, without anyone ever asking us if we wanted more so we didn't bother asking. Our server did give us a discount of £2.70 for our inconvenience, whoopee. But actually worked out £1.70 discount as we were charged an extra £1 for some charity fund. The burgers were nice, which was the only saving grace, but could've gone to burger king and back for half the price.

We shared starters and sides. Would recommend the Korean chicken and Mac and cheese loaded fries. All food was good except the hullabaloo fries - possibly not to my taste but thought they would be more Indian style and cheese over all toppings was unusual. Service was good and our table was clean.

Couldn’t take the order right then had very bad attitude when they came with only half the food order the guy got a bit cheeky never got an apology from anyone food was terrible kids didn’t even touch there’s it was so bad and massively over priced don’t go there waste of money and atmosphere was terrible very bad experience

One service staff member on, drinks order wrong… question about menu answered vaguely, unable to accommodate a family members request. Food okay probably first snd last visit due to experience. Place good food with a good clean

Went on Father’s Day purely because it was dead and everywhere else was full. Entered, after about 10 minutes a waitress came and asked if we had booked we had said no, we hadn’t seen the small sign in the door as it was open when we walked in. Went back outside, sign said they were short staffed, but there was 3 waiter / waitresses and 4 tables all of whom had their food in front of them. Went on the website booked a table. Why didn’t the waitress offer to book us one or tell us to use the website ? Common sense! Went in 13 minutes before our booking with the mindset we’d sit and wait the 13 mins if needed. Different waitress came this time who was a lot more helpful, she asked our names didn’t check against anything and sat us down. Waited so long to have our order taken I done it on the website. Throughout our time lots people came and left as had no bookings, but place was dead !! Staff sitting about doing nothing! Waiter came and gave us our food (loaded fries, my skillet nearly came flying off of the wooden board, thankfully for my quick reflections it didn’t, but meant I burnt my hand! His reply “f… sorry”. Poor management meant lots of lost profit, not actually sure you were short staffed though as staff were just constantly sitting about.

Abhorrent. Do not waste your money - go to supermarket & buy food yourself or look elsewhere for your meal . Table dirty, toilets like sewers, no cutlery or napkins. No Heating. Some rank waterfall type thing in the corner slpashing water at a bar with seats at it like someone should sit there... That's before the food/drink order. No full sugar soft drink option available. Full Food Menu not available but not disclosed upon arrival or during ordering. Explained as we never got a delivery after taking everyone's order then coming back to tell us some were not available...simply not good enough as far as waiting service goes. Time taken to clear plates was terrible it was not very busy & staff were standing about watching the many tvs they have displayed instead of being attentive or running the establishment correctly. Staff from kitchen were walking about out of kitchen with aprons on...once spotted I refused to order anything else personally. Burnt food arrived & at different times - fries came first then main meals with notable gap between - small portions of varying sizes - some got lots of chips some got chip wrappers puffed up to hide the fact there were not a lot of chips in the small coffee Mug they serve them in which costs a whopping 3-4 quid extra not included with your meal ... which to be honest makes you a mug if you go here. On that note the value for money is not worth it the sides cost nearly as much as the mains which are all very small portions. The best thing about the food was the Jalapeños...pretty hard to mess up nature. Service was mediocre at best started well with male waiter being friendly but was let down by passive aggressive female waitress that switched half way through before returning to the male waiter for collection of bill but damage had been done... We were told at one point we should share desserts as they were huge because options were not available... Lost for words & I've written plenty. Felt like I wanted to leave tip for the sake of the first guy and ive been to thier other outlets but overwhelmed by lack of service / quality of experience from this hell hole. They also added a charitable donation onto the bill without asking... I would have probably been okay with this but not without being asked...I did not leave a tip but if I could have it would have been close this restaurant & save your business' good name.

Service was adequate the food quality was terrible chicken burgers burnt beef burgers very dry daughters food burnt had to return food replacement burgers not much better my Hot Dog was burnt & very hard waitresses couldn’t even cut it drinks okay over priced for the poor quality food.outcome my birthday dinner ruined. If it wasn’t for the company I was in then my birthday would have been ruined. Would not recommend. Not worth the bother. Worst food ever had.

Arrived for lunch and told that they didn't have a full menu. We got to our table only to find that it was very sticky. We found a member of staff who cleaned it with no apology. 15 minutes later we were still waiting for our drinks order to be taken. The restaurant was NOT busy with only about 3 tables taken. 1 member of staff was standing about doing nothing while who we thought was the manager looked on. We all got up and left still with no contact from any other staff to ask if there was a problem. I have now sent 3 emails to complain about our visit, but after 4 days I have had no reply from anyone. Overall a very poor experience and will not be back. We have eaten at other branches which are extremely pleasant. Sadly because of of this experience we will be going elsewhere in future. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

Service from Lauren was fantastic! Friendly, helpful, attentive. Food was brought out quick and tasted lovely! No complaints and would visit again!

The food was really poor. Items were missing from meals ordered. The Mac and cheese had curdled and was inedible. The corn on the cob came late and was still cold from the fridge or freezer. A waffle was also missing and came as we were finishing the meal. No napkins were provided or at the table.

Went in to get a table seated straight away , after asking about drinks ordered 2 cokes these took 15 minutes to come, when they did come we ordered the food cutlery brough no napkins at the table at all had to gocto bar to get them , the time we waited for foor 15 to 20 minutes , in this time we realised there was only 3 people working the floor to reastraunt of that size will dedinetly not return

Despite visiting on a Saturday when the restaurant was quiet, we waited 10 minutes to be seated and endured a 30-minute wait for our drinks after ordering. While the food, particularly the pizza, was enjoyable, the service had several issues. Our server awkwardly offered to box the leftovers, only to later inform us that mine had accidentally fallen into the bin which was fine - these things happen. However he begrudgingly offered a brownie as compensation but I declined as it seemed as though this would inconvenience him. The server swiftly disappeared after we requested the check. I then saw him leave the restaurant and I had to go up to the only other server working to ask for the check again, so overall the check took 30 minutes for it to arrive. In summary, our experience was marred by slow service and poor communication from the staff.

Staff friendly however clearly inexperienced, were seated quickly however had to point out a chair was broken and unsafe to use to staff who set aside and thereafter tried to reuse it until my wife intervened. Service very slow and had to send back several dishes as the food was cold. Disappointing won't be visiting again

Unfortunately didn't get to try the food, stood waiting for 30 minutes to be seated and then told it would be 30-40 minutes for a table, all table booths along the back wall where empty. All young staff, which is fine but it doesn't encourage wanting to try here again.

We arrived just before 6pm on 27th, family of four. It was quite busy but no more so than everywhere else in Xsite. The overworked young fellow at the front desk managed to find us a table. Menus were given and we were told a server would be with us shortly. 40 mins came and went and nobody came to even take a drinks order. We were sat right next to the welcome desk. Queues formed out the restaurant and still people were being seated when they couldn’t even take orders. We walked out, and will never return.

Myself ,sister and friend went in on the 28th jan2024. We had chicken strips and few other bits , orders iron bru drinks which had but floating it in slew sent back and got fresh refill with no ice as we think ice was contaminated. Within 1 hr of leaving the premises we all started feeling sick , and all of the next day we have been vomiting and diarrhoea. Chicken strips were over cooked not nice. Either the juice or the chicken has made us sick. We also know the chef went out for a cigarette and on his return we didn’t see him wash his hands. Will definitely not be back. Hygiene is an issue in there .

Service was awful. We were seated quickly and handed menus. However, took over 15 mins to be asked for a drink...we had to stop a server. The drinks lay on the bar for another 15 mins.....at this point we walked out as no one even bothered to ask what food we wanted to order. Won't be back.
