Monterey Jack's in Glasgow City

The best thing about this place now is leaving. Gone down massively in quality and customer service which is so disappointing!

Honestly blown away at how amazing this place is!! The decor, seating, food is all amazing!!! Can’t fault anything!! Can deffo say we will be returning!!! The price of food here is also very reasonable for what you get! Really friendly staff too.

Food was good portions and staff were friendly & attentive even on a quiet Tuesday.

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with my recent experience at your Glasgow Fort location on Friday, 7th March 2025. Unfortunately, my visit was far from enjoyable, and I feel compelled to share my feedback. Upon arrival, there was no greeting at the door, and I had to wait almost 10 minutes for a staff member to acknowledge us. When a staff member (a girl with ginger hair, I believe) eventually arrived, I informed her that I had a booking for 5. Instead of a friendly response, she scoffed, making me feel embarrassed for having booked in advance. Our waiter, Adam Boyle (as listed on the receipt), was quick to take our order, which included 2 Diet Pepsis and a Red Neck Burger and Return of the Mac for our meal. The food arrived promptly within 20 minutes, but despite this, we were still waiting for our drinks. It seemed like an unreasonable delay for such simple orders, especially considering that the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy. While the food was brought to our table, neither of our Diet Pepsis had arrived. I noticed the staff, including a strawberry blonde-haired girl and another boy, standing around chatting, seemingly oblivious to the fact that we were still waiting for our drinks. After a while, my partner approached them to inquire about the delay. The girl casually sipped on her juice and responded, “2 minutes,” which felt dismissive and unprofessional. Overall, I found the atmosphere to be unwelcoming, and the behavior of the staff was both rude and indifferent. The lack of attention to basic service, such as delivering drinks with the meal, left a very negative impression. Unfortunately, due to the poor service and overall experience, I will not be returning to Monterey Jack's. I will not be back and would not recommend anyone to go to this branch unless you want pure cheek🤣

Very disappointed in the portion sizes. On a previous visit some time ago the chicken burger was huge; this time it was tiny and really didn't fill me up. The service was good and the flavours were still excellent, but I don't expect to be paying £20+ for a chicken burger and chips and leave hungry.

Food is always piping hotstaff are very helpful.

update: i have visited again quite recently and our party loved the food. this place is a staple for us and it doesn’t disappoint. we also received service from holly for the 2nd time, she has once again made our experience very pleasant. visited a month or so ago and had a great experience. food was fresh - loved the buffalo chicken burger, and a special mention to our waitress holly who gave us fantastic customer service. i’m a big believer of giving praise when it’s due!

Chicken is way better than before batter is tasty and the chicken much more tender and the waffles now are in house made definitely more flufty and not as overcooked as before Had Holly as a our sever and she was very nice and friendly would come again Atmosphere was fine nice decor and some music not too loud what you would want from a restaurant

Terrible places ordered mains and starters starters came out. Then 45 later no mains ask the staff they did not know then manger cone over forgot to put mains through.

Fantastic new menu items. Loved the chicken batter, had a great burger and vegan options. Brandon was superb and attentive which was great as it was a birthday treat for one of the group.

Great food, quick and pleasant service

Food amazing as always, staff really friendly and good music.

From when we arrived, the girl was clock watching on her watch and took her time to serve us her attitude towards customers wasn't welcoming and friendly.. She eventually showed us to a table to which was bogging and not cleaned properly.. she took drink and food orders from us and we waited 15 mins for drinks and food to be brought to the table. Upon arriving, the food had to be sent back due to the maccaroni being dry and tasteless they brought a replacement order out, to which the burger was also dry and tasteless aswell. Not one staff member came near to ask if anything was OK and never did a check back. They walked by staring and also noticed staff eating from a bowl at the kitchen counter while on duty.. i asked for the bill and was given a receipt to which our order came to £73.90 I asked if there was any way we could have a discount because our food was really bad the waiter said let me see and I will ask manager. He came back, to which £20 odd pounds was taken of. I paid for a bill with a card, but my card declined several times because I didn't put the right amount into my account. The waiter was making faces and being rude through this process. The girl that served us told us that when we told the place and food has went down hill and that we wouldn't be returning said I agree that is why the staff don't eat here and go elsewhere. I was taken aback and shocked because I've been at this restaurant many times and food at that time was good quality. If staff are saying this to customers, then they are giving their restaurant a bad reputation and customer rep poure Im appalled and shocked, and the level of bad service that me and my family was given I will not be coming back to the restaurant hence why for the bad rating.

Took our grandsons tonight for dinner at Glasgow Fort. What a disappointment. Adult meals served on a tiny plate. Food lukewarm. Pizza arrived 12 minutes later than everyone else’s food obviously forgot to make it. Burger cold and completely smothered in relish to the point it was like a relish blood bath. Don’t go near the ‘water’ feature in the restaurant- don’t think the surround has been cleaned for months. Staff couldn’t care less. Complained about lukewarm food and missed food order but no apology. Stay clear

I came here with my mum, and I have to say the veggie chicken burger here is one of the best I have had so far. Would highly recommend coming here to trying it.

Great food and service and value for money

5 stars? A measly 5 stars? 5 stars are nowhere near enough for this restaurant and the fantastic service we received from Chris Dolan and staff. We made the reservation online and highlighted "birthday" on the form. It was my son's 13th, so a big birthday 🎂. Upon arrival, Chris greeted us, asked about the birthday booking, and seated us. Menu selection is as always pretty substantial. Like other reviews, you'll never leave hungry. Staff came around a few times to ask if everything was OK, always nice, that shows they care. Meals are always plentiful. After enjoying starters and mains, desserts were ordered for the kids, and within minutes, our table was surrounded by staff accompanied by Chris, all singing Happy Birthday and presenting my son with a huge slice of cake, candles to blow out and photos taken. It was perfect and completely unexpected. You just don't get personal touches like that. It was the surprised look on my son's face that really topped it off. The kids literally waddled out of Monterey Jack's with full stomachs, big smiles on faces, and us parents left knowing that the level of service we had just received was exceptional. So, Chris and team. Thank you for your attention to detail, outstanding level of service, and unexpected surprises. It was a truly fantastic experience from start to finish. On behalf of ourselves and Jacob (the birthday boy), a genuine thank you.

Fabulous birthday lunch was had at MJ's! Food was excellent, burgers in particular are amazing and would fully recommend the cocktail Razzle Dazzle...yum!! Jodi M served us and she was brilliant from start to finish, really lovely and helpful, can't wait to come back, thanks Jodi! :)

Food wasn’t great and we didn’t get our drinks till after our food came and they took ages to serve us the only good bit was the music ( and my salad was a bowl of leafs 4 bits of chicken ) 🫢other than that it wasn’t bad

Visited on Weds 23rd October for dinner. Restaurant wasn’t very busy but there was a good vibe and staff were very friendly. Food was really good quality and value for money.

Fantastic food as always, family friendly as we've been coming since our baby was born and the team are incredible. Chris is a credit to the restaurant as he has always made sure our picky orders were put through perfectly and makes the restaurant tick at front of house with his knowledge and personality. We will definitely be back.

Been to Monterey Jacks several times, always good choices and always good food. Was a wee but of a wait for initial order as server seemed to be on his phone however service was quick, efficient and friendly after this, would recommend and like always will be back, if not to this one another Monterey Jacks some where else :)

Lovely birthday meal. First time visit but will definitely be back!

Came here a while ago after work with my partner (work in retail so was a late finish), and there were two couples waiting in front of us for a table. First was seated, second was seated, got to us and there wasn’t a table. So it’s half 8 and we were told to come back in half an hour, we weren’t overly fussed so we said okay. Came back half an hour later and were told they weren’t seating anyone else. Obviously explained the situation, I did feel bad because I could’ve been nicer about how I said it. The girl went and got someone else and she seated us, as we were sitting down the first girl was just talking about us and over exaggerating the whole situation. As I said, I feel bad about the way I said it but I didn’t say anything bad I just explained the situation. Was planning on apologising to the girl because I did feel bad, and I work in retail so I know what it’s like to be on the other end. But she continually spoke about us and pointed at us the entire time we were in, took ages for us to be served as she refused to serve us and made her colleague do it. Service was shocking and her attitude was disgusting, which all could have been avoided with some communication that we were coming back in half an hour.

Chris looked after us and was a fantastic server. I was torn between 2 burgers and chris showed a great level of knowledge asking me what meat and bun I would have to help decide which would be better. the food was as delicious as we have come to expect form Monteray Jack's all in all a perfect experience, 1 star off from atmosphere as it was very quiet at the start if the day when visited.

Chris and his staff deserve a round of applause for how they treat and look after their customers. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed and made to feel at home. Being a large family with five kids, we can sometimes be a bit loud and boisterous, but Chris handled it with ease. We have specific dietary requirements, and it was refreshing that they asked about this right from the start, without needing to be prompted—often it’s a surprise to staff later on. We were seated at one of the larger booths at the rear of the restaurant, next to the grill. Our drink orders were taken promptly and arrived quickly as well. Chris was incredibly welcoming to the kids, making them feel very much a part of the decision-making process. This is a huge plus for us, as they are a big factor in where we choose to spend our money. The kids' portions were perfect and looked delicious—the kids agreed! My burger and my wife’s nachos were excellent, so much so that I felt compelled to compliment the chefs. Drinks were refilled promptly without us having to ask. The atmosphere was great, even though it was a quiet Tuesday night, and we were made to feel valued. As I mentioned at the start, Chris and his staff deserve to take a bow. We will definitely be returning in the near future and highly recommend the establishment.

Back again at montery jacks (slowly become my favoutite restaurant) My servers liam and brandon went above and beyond and betinf by being great people and very funny members of staff. I would reccomend to any foodie in the glasgow area

On arrival we weren't greeted at the door so had to get attention of staff member who said I'll come to you. Someone should at least acknowledge you and say I'll be with you shortly. When seated the table behind us were kicking of about the slow service and had to go get their own drinks from the bar, order for drinks taken quickly for us though. When we ordered our starter it was dealt with quickly enough but was disappointing, I paid just under £6 for roughly 8 onion rings in a small basket, felt like the last of the bag. Our main took about an hour to get to us, I had to ask a staff member what the hold up was and she said it'll come in 2 minutes. Daughters seemed happy enough with their food but my food wasn't great, very dry chicken, salad thrown on plate from a bag. My wife had the vegan chicken style burger and found it to be again! very dry, no red onion or mayo as stated on menu that we checked later when getting home. The restaurant front door doesn't close properly and a cold wind was constantly blowing in, I had to get up repeatedly to close it myself, the staff ignored this problem. As we are heading into winter this needs to be sorted ASAP! No toilet paper in gents toilets and soap dispensers hanging of wall. My daughter said the ladys toilets literally had toilet paper stacked up on the wall?? First time in montery Jack's and the last time, we paid £111 and felt we would have enjoyed a mcdonalds better, for that money I expect high end food, service and facilities.

Me and my partner had booked a table for some drinks it was a Friday night. The place was very quiet, we stood at the front for 20 minutes with servers walking past and not even acknowledging us. When one eventually did she asked what table I would like to sit at and offered me the choice of two which still had to be cleaned. 10 minutes later we have been given a seat to wait then sent to a different table. My partner ordered a whisky sour, all the egg white was stuck at the bottom as they don’t have a proper whisk to mix it. Very disappointed with our experience and the service from staff when it was such a quiet night.

Food was immaculate. Service was great from Brandon and Liam. The atmosphere was good although lacking a bit of Charli XCX or Chappell Roan but the experience was a delight.

As we entered the restaurant, we were served straight away to a great atmosphere, no waiting at all Once seated, lauren made sure we had anything we needed for our meal, great service, could not make a fault Food came quick and tasted great!

Holly was our server and was so welcoming and helpful. We were looked after really well!
