One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had in the UK. Left nothing to be desired in regards to dining and service.

We had afternoon tea here. It is a lovely venue but did feel like the tables were quite close together and a bit assembly line. Whilst the cakes and sandwiches were nice, I wouldn't say they were quite as nice as other afternoon teas I've had in other places. The service was good but overall lacked the wow factor.

We had a lovely, quiet Afternoon Tea here as part of our spa package. Two very relaxed ladies enjoyed a delicious and filling tea! It was wonderful and the service was too.

Went for afternoon tea Amazing ambience, setting, and garden view. The sandwiches were freshly made. The scones and brioche buns were warm and tasty. The tea was very good over all. One issue that I didn’t like was the slow and fragmented service. We were seated by a server, and then 2-3 other servers looked after us. This is confusing as it didn’t seem that we had any specific server and it created confusion on orders sometimes. Instead of enjoying the tea, we were looking around to catch a waiter. The other issue is discrepancy and lack of clarity on billing. The afternoon tea is advertised as £45 per person and £23.50 per child. I was there with my wife and two kids. They were 14 and 12. No one bothered to ask about their ages and they charged us as 4 adults. I clearly asked the server about that and he said it’s all charged the same. This is not in line with what most if not all places do and is considered dishonest advertising. To make things worse, we were additionally charged and extra £7.5 each because we asked for a second round of sandwiches. Again, the standard afternoon tea is inclusive of extra sandwiches. Even if you want to charge for extra sandwiches, you should make this clear to your customers. The server took the extra charge because he said “he felt generous”. Well, I didn’t feel well about the whole billing experience as I don’t like places with ambiguous billing schemes.

The two of us had afternoon tea. We expected a posh reception at this posh hotel, but the opposite was the case. At the reception they didn't know what to do with us and sent us towards the garden. Nobody took care of us there and we had trouble finding someone who could do something with our reservation. Unfortunately, our positive expectations were already disappointed. We were able to sit anywhere, although a few tables were marked as "reserved". It took us a while to order and the tea came quickly, but then it took quite a long time and we had to ask until our cake stand came with a few sandwiches (surprisingly small) and sweets. When we were finished, we were able to order more. This should have been pointed out at the beginning, it would have been one less disappointment... On the positive side, the quality of the produce was very good (which is to be expected at over £50 per person) and the beautiful garden (weather permitting!) was a fitting setting. But despite the hotel name and despite the high price, it wasn't a "royal" experience.

The first building most people usually think of when talking about Bath is The Royal Crescent – so I was thrilled to receive a present of Afternoon Tea in the well-renowned The Royal Crescent Hotel for my birthday. You feel like you’re stepping back into a regency drama as you enter through the doors. You make your way through the impressive hotel and gardens to their restaurant - Montagué's Mews. We took our seats and were then given a choice of teas or coffees. I went with a ‘Chocolate Brownie Tea’ which was surprisingly delicious – I would highly recommend trying it. You can try a variety of teas or coffees as they offer top-ups throughout the experience. The main attraction then came shortly afterwards. It featured 3 tiers of delicious sandwiches, cakes and scones. Every element of the Afternoon Tea was impeccable, much like the ambience and service. The highlight had to be the Bath Bun, which was a real sugary treat, alongside the Patisserie items. They also offered a free top-up of the Sandwiches which was generous. We enjoyed a glass of Champagne alongside our Afternoon Tea, and it all felt rather extravagant – but that’s what Afternoon Tea is all about. There was a beautiful outdoor seating area too, which I imagine would be wonderful to enjoy your Afternoon Tea outside if the sun was shining. Overall, the entire experience was superb and I cannot fault a thing. Every element of the Afternoon Tea was delectable, the service was impeccable and the surroundings were wonderful. If you’re looking for a treat while you’re in Bath – I would highly recommend a visit to The Royal Crescent Hotel for Afternoon Tea at Montagué's Mews.

If you haven’t been here for dinner, met the amazing, brilliant, sharp and incredibly warm, sweet individuals who comprise the staff, the service, the bartenders, YOU ARE MISSING OUT! We had the tasting menu with the Sommelier’s pairing choices and we were blown away. Some of the reviews don’t do it justice. This chef and his staff are at the top of their game! Ieuan provided incredible service.

Montagu's Mews' tasting menu was a culinary delight, but the star of the show was our waiter, Oliver. His recommendations for exploring Bath were spot-on, and his attentiveness made our evening truly special. He went above and beyond, exceeding all expectations for five-star service. We can't thank him enough for making our experience unforgettable!

We booked a tasting menu dinner to celebrate our wedding weekend. We had some cocktails at the bar before our dinner - very basic, lacked complexity and I could have made better at home. Food was ok however our evening, was tainted by a really poor experience with their ‘sommelier’ who struggled to recommend wine to go with the tasting menu. Not sure how that happens as the tasting menu normally remains the same for several weeks so surely someone must have asked this question before? One of the wines he suggested was the worst possible pairing to go with the menu and unfortunately, for the first time in our life, we had to ask for a different wine. He then took 10mins to bring out another wine which he said we couldn’t taste as it was a screw cap bottle. We then had to wait another 10min for him to bring a 3rd wine which we chose ourselves. All together our wine took over 30mins, it was the most awkward and unpleasant start to our dinner. The food waiter had brought out 2 courses by the time the wine came out and was surprised himself as to how long the wine waiter was taking. When booking, we’d mentioned that we got married the day before so it was a special occasion. There were no special touches added throughout our experience. It was extremely disappointing and we will not be returning nor recommending. Big let down, especially since the Royal Crescent has a reputation to maintain. This place does not do it justice. We felt extremely disappointed, given the occasion and walked out deflated, regretting having booked it in the first place

My daughter and I enjoyed afternoon tea here as part of a spa package at the hotel. Staff were very friendly and the food and atmosphere were beautiful! Loved the variety of teas as well. The fact that you could also get hot chocolate or coffee was a nice bonus, and they even offered extra sandwiches if needed (we didn't!). Would love to come back on a sunny day and enjoy the terrace option, as the garden is beautiful!

I have been to the hotel restaurant a number of times for afternoon tea. Around 3 years ago the service and food was great. However in the last year I have been several times and the service has been appalling. No one was there to seat you, I had to find a member of staff to take our order as no one came to see us after 15 minutes. It wasn't busy so there were no excuses. Again when it was time to pay I had to get up twice to get the bill and ask for the card machine as we were just left sat there. The service isn't worthy of the location. So many nicer places in Bath with better food and service.

Atmosphere and service was what you would expect from an establishment like the Royal Crescent Hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea. I really appreciated the option of hot chocolate or coffee for non tea drinkers. Scones were served warm and the sandwiches were very fresh and the bread so moist and delicious. Desserts were visually pleasing with a taste to match! When we return to Bath, this place will be our first stop!

Unfortunately this has been a great let down this year. We had lunch in the garden as we do most years however the service today was terrible. We both had a drink before our lunch but not once did anybody approach us and offer us another drink. In 29 degrees not even a bottle of water. We chose just to get up pay and leave. I had the ham and smoked cheese sandwich. When I recieved it I found that the bread had been deep fried. I was so fatty I had to leave it. And I didnt even have a drink to wash it down. Such a shame as we visit here every year when visiting bath. Unfortunately we will not be visiting again.

Gorgeous cream teas! Me and my partner have been three times now and they never fail to impress with the service and quality of food. Both the sweet and savoury cream teas are lovely, we want to one day return for dinner service. I would say the champagne cream tea is a little pricey and you only get one glass but it is very good quality champagne so opting for that luxury is a personal choice. The setting is also beautiful and the atmosphere doesn't make you feel awkward or out if place, you're always welcome.

While in Bath for a short break, we came across the Royal Crescent Hotel and Spa and discovered the Dower House Restaurant during our walk through the charming hidden gardens. We made a spontaneous reservation and came for afternoon tea today. First and foremost, the service was outstanding - personal, attentive, and the utmost professionalism. Our dietary requirements were seamlessly and courteously attended to. We were showered with delicious sandwiches, scones, Bath buns, and seasonal cakes, in unctuous portions. The tea selection was delightful; my favourite was the Darjeeling Summer. I liked the offer of a cup of coffee by the waiter who attended to us for most of our time there, when we asked to pay; the perfect remedy to our correctly diagnosed post-prandial somnolence. I must say, it turned out to be the nicest afternoon tea experience I have ever had. We will certainly be back when next holidaying in Bath!

We enjoyed an exceptionally good afternoon tea. ALL ingredients were high quality and beautifully presented. Wide range of unlimited tea and coffees. It's expensive but I'm happy to pay for quality and good service for such a rare treat. Be mindful they add a service charge which l do not approve of. But once we explained we wanted to leave a cash tip, they did not add it to our bill. We sat in Dower House looking over the gorgeous gardens. If ever l plan afternoon tea. I'd consider no where else

This was most probably the worst meal of fish and chips I have had for a very long time. Served in a wire basket lined with newspaper for authenticity, the paper was already drenched with fat when it arrived, thus making the chips soggy and cold. When cutting into the batter, you immediately had a pool of liquid pour out, although the fish was reasonably well cooked. Crispy batter on the outside, but inside a gloopy mass of uncooked batter. Someone made a serious mistake with our meal and needs to be shown how to cook! Not good enough Royal Crescent! Clearly more training required, especially with the reputation you carry.

Food was very nice but wouldn’t expect you to charge me £5 for a pot of Mango Chutney after first serving me one with a long black head hair in it? Pretty disgusting but apparently not your fault because nobody who works there has long hair… Poor service and response to my obvious disgust at this which is a shame as I would’ve liked to have returned in the future. Hopefully you can take this feedback constructively for how you treat future customers.
