Mono Restaurant in Glasgow City

A great location sullied by apathetic service. Some staff try, most are sullen and disinterested. Food is OK. Toilets need maintenance and if the hand dryer doesn't work, please provide hand towels.

Was visiting Glasgow recently and saw this place come up when searching for vegan places to eat and oh my god it was SO GOOD. I’m sad we live so far away because I want to try everything on the menu, it was absolutely delicious!

Enjoyed a lovely meal in Mono today, soup and the beetroot starters were excellent, followed by a pizza and mac and cheese again delicious and a lovely desert and coffee to finish, we will be back and recommend if your near m & s argyle st pop in for a bite

Mono has the potential to be better, but every experience feels like none of the staff can be bothered. Ignored when we first came in, order was wrong, no one coming to check on us. Food was sloppily made (this is meant to be disco fries, which came out more like disco soup) Disappointed

I was pleasantly surprised to see how good the menu items sounded, I am not vegetarian, but I have tried a few items on the menu as I had spent around five hours in this lovely place. The look, smell, and taste of the food, and the feel of the place create a peaceful, warm, and comfortable ambiance. "Monorail Music", the record shop within Mono, has exemplary order and cleanliness, and a good choice of records.

Bloody lovely. Really like it here, we visit every time we go to Glasgy. They do deep fried pizza. Who can boast a genius idea like that? I didn't get it, but still. Love the food and creative menu.

Some food was delicious some was tooo greasy. We had to wait for quite some time to be served and to get the food. Other than that it was nice.

Mono is quite famous as being a flagship vegan restaurant in Glasgow. The food was nice, the tofu dish could perhaps have had a bit more flavour to the rice, service good and while I went for lunch with friends, I hear they do good music in the evenings.

This is a very cute restaurant and bar. The food was amazing and vegan!! Loved it. I would recommend it to vegans but also anyone looking for great food, cute atmosphere, and nice staff.

Visité Mono ya que quería echar un vistazo a la tienda de discos (muy agradable, demasiado fresco para mí, sin embargo!). Así que decidimos tomar una copa (de buena calidad César Augusto en borrador). Después de haber echado un vistazo al menú decidimos almorzar. Hubiéramos preferido quedarnos en la mesa alta cerca del bar donde estábamos bebiendo, pero nos dijeron que esto no era posible para la comida, así que nos movieron a una mesa más cerca de la puerta y no estábamos demasiado calientes como la gente entró y salió. La comida era muy agradable (pasta de setas) aunque no exactamente caliente. Personal muy agradable. Vale la pena visitarlo.

Nice food, atmosphere and music

Personal hosco y antipático, comida promedio pero sobrepreciosa, mi dulce estaba quemado y por lo tanto no era comestible, pero cuando le señalé esto a nuestro servidor, ella simplemente tomó el plato y se fue, sin ninguna oferta para reemplazarlo o comprimirlo. Nos dieron la factura de la mesa equivocada pero cuando señalamos esto no hubo disculpas. Ahora que la 13a Nota al otro lado de la carretera ha cerrado, tienen poca competencia de los restaurantes veganos de la zona, desafortunadamente. Sin embargo, definitivamente no volveremos!

Realmente quiero apoyar a las empresas veganas, pero Mono lo está haciendo bastante difícil. Hasta ahora he venido específicamente a Mon y he intentado pedir un postre que realmente quiero probar dos veces. La primera vez no tenían el ingrediente clave, la segunda vez se negaron porque traté de pedir 2 minutos después del cierre de la cocina. Dame un respiro chicos. Ni siquiera soy de la zona, así que solo entro en Glasgow de vez en cuando, por lo que tener 2 / 2 falla significa que probablemente no volveré allí de nuevo.

The best vegan restaurant my partner and I have ever visited. Located in the heart of Glasgow, this 100% vegan, homemade eatery offers an incredible variety of meat-free options, a welcoming ambiance, and truly lovely staff. We began our meal with the Baja To-fish Tacos, which were light, refreshingly delicious, and bursting with flavor that only got better with each bite. For our mains, my partner opted for the Shawarma Fries, while I went for “The Spicy One” burger. The Shawarma Fries were exceptional. Made with seitan strips, they perfectly satisfied my partner’s shawarma cravings. The fries themselves were hand-cut, and exactly the rustic style my partner loves. The flavors complemented each other beautifully, making it a memorable dish. As for my burger, it was outstanding. The vegan honey blew me away with how closely it resembled the real thing, while the combination of the seitan patty and spicy n’duja sausage created an incredible texture and depth of flavor. The vegan honey tied everything together perfectly, elevating the burger to another level. To round off the evening, we shared a Steamed Chocolate Sponge for dessert—and it was hands down the best decision of the night. For me, dessert is the highlight of any meal, and this one did not disappoint. The sponge had the perfect texture, but what truly captivated me was the hot sponge sauce. Paired with vanilla ice cream and the confit orange garnish, it delivered the perfect balance of flavors to end a flawless vegan dining experience. This restaurant has set the bar high for vegan dining, and we can’t wait to return!

I’m here for the first time and i love it! the staff is super friendly, the food is good and you can sit at a cosy place if you want, but you can also go with your friend group. the (christmas) decoration is also super cute. highly recommended!!

Tenía una ensalada de remolacha encantadora con un hermoso aderezo de crema de rábano picante. Un montón de gran pan de ajo, y un muy buen americano. El personal era muy acogedor, relajado y servicial. Muy recomendable. Es genial ver este pequeño lugar que es Totalmente Vegano, todavía abierto en Glasgow después de todos estos años. Recuerdo que abrió y derribó a mis hijos, siempre tuvo un buen ambiente amistoso. Tuve una visita a Monorail también, la tienda de discos dentro del café, colección muy interesante. ¡Volveremos!

Last time we were in town we couldn't get a table mono but this time we got a table and weren't disappointed. This is some serious vegan food, I had the Margarita pizza which had really nice zinggy pizza sauce and plenty of vegan cheese on a well cooked base. I got the shawarma loaded fries which were really good too. With lots of seitan kebab meat. Really nice food and nice staff in a nice setting, we'll definitely be back.

We just ate the best vegan burger and the best vegan fish tacos ever. The burger was a special burger, with hot honey. delicious. we also tried the vegan mac and cheese, very tasty as well.

Fabulosa comida vegana. Mi favorito actual son los haggis y patatas nuevas aplastadas con la tarta de chocolate para pudín. El menú cambia de vez en cuando y hay ofertas especiales disponibles. Fácil - ambiente con música y discos de vinilo Mono Rail en su interior. Esta ha sido mi cafetería favorita durante veinte años. Secuestraría al chef si pensara que me saldría con la mía.

I used to Lovvee Mono. Before Covid my friends and I would come in often for delicious food and great beers but after Covid,the food has gone down. I recently went in both my friend and I had macaroni and cheese and chips. The food was cold and then when I went to pay, I didn't realise my friend had already paid and we were Both charged. Luckily I checked and went back for my money. It's ashame Mono has gone down food wise,still a great place for beers if the sun is out:)

the quality of food has gone down. The menu did use to be a lot better, but recent changes don't seem to be to the same standard. The burger is bland and not worth £14 and the Mac and Cheese is so expensive for a quite poor attempt . Shame to see it's standards fall

Coffee and vegan cakes are amazing also the record store was a goldmine of new and classics the staff are so helpful.

One of our favourite vegan destinations in Glasgow. Great staff, fabby food and our mutts are always made very welcome - what's not to love?

Disappointing service served by sour faced staff who seemed very unhappy. The meals were ok - nothing special after a lengthy wait of 55minutes. The place has certaintly been run down since I last came here in 2019. Not much of an atmosphere and quite dirty despite plenty of staff on. Also the ladies toilets are now "gender neutral" which means I won't be returning as frankly if the management doesn't feel women's safety is important then he doesn't get our custom. Pity as used to be good.

Had a delicious meal there, service was excellent and everything was made from scratch.

This was a lovely bar/restaurant serving exclusively vegan food. I had the mac n cheese with chips and garlic bread and it was all magnificent! The staff were lovely as well and it was a generally good vibe allround. There's even a small record store inside as well! The ONLY reason I gave 4 stars out of 5 is just because it did take a while for staff to serve us and to collect the bill, even though it wasn't actually busy at all when we visited. Again, the staff were very lovely, but just took a little bit of time.

I’ve been here three times. Once, for a quick coffee and to browse records. Once, alone for lunch. Once, with my partner for lunch. All three times the service was abysmal. The host didn’t recognise anyone was waiting to be seated. All different people mind you. The coffee order was, fine? I guess. Sort of left on the bar for me. The lunches both included me waiting a good long while to place an order, waiting as long as 30 minutes for plates to be cleared post starters, and apparently that was the time they decided to fire the mains so that was a wait. All in a half empty restaurant. The third trip the manager, who I was sure must’ve been an under employed Gen Xer having a coffee until he walked behind the bar, was the worst. Unsanitary table clearing, shouting to his friends who were customers across the room. Just a real mess of a guy. The food is good when you get it. Just a shame because Stereo is very nice and as a vegan I always want to support places I can eat. Once management changes I imagine quality will return.

Mon was a great find for dinner with my wife in Central Glasgow ! The ambience is light and chatty and would probably be a great place for a date, to meet up with friends or even read a book and chill. We pondered over some starters (they have loads of specials on their board which sounded amazing) but then eventually went for the mac and cheese and their sourdough pizza. Both were sumptuous! The mac n cheese was comforting and warm (needed a bit of salt and spice, but that's just us!) and the sourdough pizza was finger licking good, with artichokes, olives and vegan mozzarella! Would definitely go back for more if we return to Glasgow!

One of the only 100% vegan places in town, the chips came from a board we couldn't eat, the waitress was very understanding and the chocolate was on the house.

A must-visit for vegans in Glasgow! Food was some of the best I've had, tried the burger and the pizza and both were outstanding. Great selection of local beers, both house and guest.

Great place to relax and enjoy vegetarian dishes! The place has a great atmosphere for reading or having a drink/coffee. The meal was delicious (vegan fish and ships) and the service was top notch! Passing through Glasgow, I can't wait to go back 🦌🌱

We only had one day in Glasgow and this was definitely the perfect place for lunch. The food was beyond my expectations. Very cool atmosphere as well. Staff was friendly. The Mac and Cheese was so good and the serving was generous. Desserts were delectable. Perfect espresso martinis. Highly recommend and I will definitely go back if I’m ever in Glasgow again.

Fantastic gluten free and vegan options!

Chilled out food, staff and atmosphere. I was there on my own as I was working away and I didn't feel awkward. I had two starters which were huge! Mini (not so mini) mac and cheese and the haggis hash which was particularly yummy. Really enjoyed it.

Came to Glasgow looking for vegan food, came across Mono and wasn't disappointed! Really cool venue, spoilt for choice on food and it was delicious. Service great and friendly. They were also very clear and informative regarding my son's allergies which was very reassuring.

Fish and chips with tofu and delicious vegan haggis. At midday the place is calm and soothing. Record store area with alternative music CDs and vinyls next to the bar.

We were only there for dessert. It is a purely vegan restaurant with a varied selection. It was tasty, service was nice. Two different tickets for each inside and the beer garden.

Amazing people and amazing vegan food, everything's great, and there's a vinyl store inside that you can browse while waiting for the food. What a good address !

I visited on a weekday lunchtime and had a hot chocolate with a slice of black forest gateaux.....very nice. Atmosphere of the place is excellent. All vegan.

We both loved it here. The staff were attentive, the atmosphere was great, it was remarkably busy for a Wednesday night. All our food was amazing. They did forget our desert for a bit but offered us free coffee as an apology. If we ever make it to Glasgow again, we'll definitely eat here - I was tempted by the fried pizza!

All vegan stuff. Really good quality. I brought my fairly skeptical mum here who wondered if she would get something as a non vegan she liked. She ended up with the vegan curry which she liked so much she tries to cook it herself. I would recommend the pizza.

Went in mid week, placed order at bar which I prefer to table serviced. Pizza, chips and Caesar salad. Plenty food shared between two.

Too much effort on trying to make things look non vegan and not enough on making the food taste good, slimey stick to your teeth “cheese” substitute, even the salad was bad…way better options at regular restaurants

Was at a gig but the food and service are excellent.

Good food, great staff, interesting bands and a record shop. What more could you ask for? Only down side no milk for your cup of tea. Vegan and veggie heaven though Beer selection is really good too, not cheap but certainly quality.

Arrived shortly after 12. Waited 30 minutes for one order of Mac n cheese, the restaurant wasn't busy at all. Very poor customer service. Food was tasteless and that's because "it's made fresh in the restaurant". I didn't even get to choose between chips or garlic bread, it was assumed that I wanted chips.

Cute little restaurant that is fully vegan. Has a cool vibe and super chill. They were short staffed but didn't make a difference as they were all super nice. Ordered too much food but lots of choice. Really liked the cauliflower wings and tacos.

I always felt a bit hesitant to go into ‘MONO’ as it seemed a bit too trendy for me ! Today I took the plunge and was pleasantly surprised. Ciara took care of me and directed me to a window table. I was served a nice tofu dish, beetroot couscous. It did take a wee while to arrive and it would have been nice if the dinner bowl had been warmed.Then the dessert came courtesy of the lovely Gemma! Steamed coconut sponge with raspberry and ice cream, delicious! Dessert was complimented with a creamy soy latte. I’m glad I visited. It was a nice experience. I know that ‘MONO’ stands by inclusion but I do believe that there should be a traditional ladies bathroom for traditional ladies if that makes sense. It has nothing to do with intolerance of others but a matter of personal choice. Which inclusion is surely about.

Really liked the food here, it was super lovely. The location and interior felt very whatever, but not bad at all. The people working there were nice, we were only a little sad about the wait for our food, but it wasn’t awful. Overall good experience!

Trendy and cool with fast service and deep menu.

Popped in here for a juice whilst out shopping. It was busy with outdoor seating fully being used. Inside it’s well spaced out so it’s being but not cramped. There’s a record shop inside a massive bar. I didn’t have anything to eat from the vegan menu but the food looked good. With it being busy there was a bit of a longer queue at the bar

Very good noodles and caesar salad. The coconut sponge is also very nice.

Recently told a customer chops were gluten free in separate drier it ended up this was not true as gf trier was off. Terrible 😢

Visited Mono with my family for some drinks and a bite to eat, was so pleased that they had a really good selection of Gluten Free food as I have Coeliac Disease. We ordered a portion of chips as they were labelled Gluten Free and again asked when ordering our food to ensure that these were made Gluten Free. We were reassured that they have a seperate fryer for Gluten Free food items however when the food came the server didn’t mention that the items were prepared GF, just to be on the safe side before consuming the food, we checked with the server that the food was definitely GF. We were then told that the Gluten Free fryer was ‘off’ and that the food was not made Gluten Free. I’m so glad that I checked with the staff before I ate the food, because I was reassured when I ordered it that it would be made gluten free. To make matters worse, the server did not offer to take the food back and refund us (as I couldn’t consume it) and only offered us a free bag of crisps - which is frankly insulting. Food Information Regulations requires that allergens must be emphasised in the ingredients list - it’s a requirement of Scottish law. To advertise food items on your menu as Gluten Free, and serve customers food that is not Gluten Free is appalling and dangerous. Really disappointing stuff from Mono, and their staff.

Oh my days, the mac and cheese is amazing. I had it with vegan haggis on top - and it was delicious. Super friendly and lovely people who work there, and they have a really interesting and fun selection of drinks. Amazing stuff!!

Consistently the worst service you can find in Glasgow. Staff are so rude and certainly won't be spending my money here again. Can't review the food as it never arrived in the hour we waited (wasn't busy) - appalling
