Monks Inn in Dacorum

This bar was a real ale and cider outlet offering a good range of both. Sadly, the outlet is now closed.

New Years Eve afternoon drinks, very quiet but suited us as a family get together. Beer fantastic, great choice of ales, stouts and ciders. Have been there before, definitely will be going again soon!

We love the Monks Inn, eclectic and friendly group of people, customers and staff. The landlord is brilliant - warm, enthusiastic and welcoming. Dog and child friendly :-) We go in to taste our way through the extensive beer and cider menus and play cards. It's lovely seeing people in there working on their laptops, a family playing chess with their child, and regular Cilla the dog bewildered because we were sitting at her table. Totally friendly and accessible to everyone :-)

Went to Monks Inn for a music gig. The welcome and goodbye were utterly warm and personal. The help Clint gave to get everything organized was phenominal. A very nice audience made it a special night that will be repeated in future, for sure. Already looking forward to it 😀.

First ordered takeaway pints during lockdown and have since popped in occasionally. There's always an interesting range of drinks on and the customers and staff have always been welcoming on my visits.

A small place with a quirky monks feel for sure! Always a good range of real ales and ciders served here with helpful staff. Toilets are small but always clean. It's big sister pub is only a walk in the opposite direction called The Friars Inn

Always a great experience, brilliant range of brilliant beer, friendly staff and welcoming environment

Great choice of real cask ales and ciders. Also a few independent lagers and speciality beers on keg. Big choice on gin and rum. Small events like a regular pub quiz and occasionally an acoustic set.

Choice of real ale, craft lagers and beers and cider. Lots of choice in (goldfish bowl sized) gins and rum. Quiz and Bingo nights and happy hour on Friday early evening. Check on Facebook for events and the odd acoustic band.

Always a great choice of real ale and a few kegged independent lagers or beers. Also a lot of cider on handle too. Beer is well maintained and changed every Wednesday or straight away in busy times. Occasional live acoustic music and bingo. Regular quiz night, car and biker meets. No food but will allow food brought in on concession of staff or owners. Cash is best for for them but card is also welcome (might be a limit so start a tab if solo drinking).

If you are looking for a great pub you will be going to the right place unless your idea of fine dining is a packet of crisps you won't find food here.

I was waiting to be served when a loud ignorant woman entered demanding a drink. The youngster behind the bar ignored me and served her immediately so I walked out Visit was mid June. Visit was on 17 June at 15 20. Only just been asked for a review

The ABV of some of the beers and ciders are verging on criminal but who's complaining? A fun pub that apparently used to be a hairdressers. Would visit again if in the area.

Want a good beer, well looked after; this is the place. The surroundings are a little spartan, but easily made up for by the choice of beers and ciders.

Great little independent pub. Lovely staff and lovely patrons. It's great for a quiet cheeky mid-week pint, as well as part of a pub crawl on your Friday/Saturday. I cannot fault this place

Brilliant little pub. Visited a few times while staying at the nearby Premier Inn. Great craft beers and cider and friendly regulars. Dog friendly pub as well. It would be our regular bar if we lived nearer!

Excellent choice of beer even Blue Anchor Spingo has been on very dog friendly atmosphere great other towns like Harrow desperately need a pub like this as an ake desert, Watfords not much better but at least some places offer some decent beer but not the choice offerred by Monks or pubs in St Albans.

Awesome little pub in an unlikely place but it serves a great selection of real ales and interesting lagers. A proper little atmosphere and great friendly staff, just what we all need after so long of not really being out and about. Get down there and enjoy a pint.

Very friendly place , ran by top bloke and all round great publican , Clint. If you like decent beers and great ciders then this is your place. No frills, just proper decent beer and cider which is always top quality in terms of cellermanship. Cheers Clint!

We've been going to this pub for ove r a year now and enjoy the wide range of beers and ciders available. Through the lockdown we have enjoyed the takeaways on offer but when we returned we feel that, due to the family atmosphere, the staff care about the cleanliness and the restrictions. They are welcoming to all and offer a taste if you are unsure.

Visited Monks Inn for the first time on a weekend trip back to my home town. Awesome place, great staff, wonderful selection of proper ales.

Monks Inn is a lovely place, small but with a brilliant and ever changing selection of well crafted beers and ciders, the staff are fantastic and there's a real family and community atmosphere here, if you haven't been I would recommend it, a real gem

Very cozy good selection of beer

This place was okay. I came here looking to play against their pool team but I was unfortunately told that they were playing at The Market Arms Tavern. The place here at The Monks Inn has a friendly atmosphere. The drinks are not particularly cheap but if you're coming here in a large group, you would have no need to fight over the toilets as they have a male toilet, a female toilet and another room that simply says Toilet on it. So... I mean.. I guess it's non-binary friendly too which is kind of a good thing in terms of equality. I will say that perhaps, I did not get a full experience of this place as it was my first visit ever and ended up going to The Market Arms Tavern after my first drink to play some pool as this bar is very tiny. Good place overall but that's why I'm giving it only 3 stars. It's nothing particularly special really.. Well, besides the 3 categories of toilets that you don't see in many places which I did not need to use.

As ever a diverse group of people sharing the joy of real ales and cider served by knowledgeable and passionate staff. Never a dull moment at the Monks Inn. The Landlord goes from strength to strength.

A true enthusiasts real ale micro pub. At last a decent pint with decent people in the heart of town. The Springbok spirit and rugby passion flows through this amazing space. A gold star well done

Bar staff was lovely kind and friendly i would go back

It’s ok. Nothing wrong with it. Needs finishing as still looks quite rough around edges and could be made to look really nice. People mention it being cozy however I didn’t get that feel from the old betting shop. Selection of beers was ok, nothing to rave about. If you are looking for really fresh good quality beer then the Mad Squirrel brewery just up the road (on the way to Potton End) has an amazing tap room and some really great beers. I noticed that the Monks inn place doesn’t stock any of their beers which is odd seen as they are up the road. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Rustic old fashioned ale house. No Frills ,but great beer selection, which frequently changes, often using local micro breweries.
