Monkey & Me in City of London, Westminster

Tasty seafood, chicken green curry not bad but a tad overcooked, excellent deserts, good service. Low ceilings so can get very loud when restaurant is full.

Early dinner booking 6pm with only one other table occupied yet the service was abysmal. Ordered one starter and two mains and only the starter and one main came out together 15 minutes before my main course. I requested the other main was reheated but the waitress was dismissive. My tofu was undercooked. Despite an almost £10 service charge automatically added onto our bill when I was paying at our table our waitress turned her back on us and greeted a friend who had just arrived and also with another waitress were chatting to their friend. This is the first time we have had no acknowledgement when paying our bill and no-one saying goodbye to us when we left. A service charge has to be earned and sadly service was lacking at this restaurant.

We visited here a late Saturday afternoon off the cuff, we were the only ones in the restaurant at first but within minutes it started to fill up. We both had starters I had the prawn & pork dumplings, they were lovely but only luke warm, my Husband had the salt & pepper prawns, he said they were lovely but he had to peel them and he wasnt given a bowl with warm water & lemon for his fingers, so a bit messy. For mains I had Pad Si-ew, which was gorgeous and flavoursome. My Husband had the Chicken & Cashew Nuts Stir fry with egg fried rice, he cleared his plate and said it was the best he had ever had, he even finished what I had left (my portion was large). The service was very friendly and quick, If anyone is in the area and wants a delicious Thai meal I would highly recommend Monkey & Me.

E' sabato. Lungo giro in centro e pausa pranzo thai. Ci fermiamo al Monkey & Me, un locale semplice, molto minimal, ma accogliente. Siamo in tre, siamo i primi, non c'è nessun'altro cliente, ma la cosa non ci preoccupa. Per cominciare una bottiglia di acqua ed un paio di calici di Vino bianco. Fermo e fresco. Nel complesso, gradevole. Decidiamo di condividere un Monkey Mixed Starter per due persone. La proposta comprende involtini primavera, satay di pollo (spiedini di pollo marinati in coriandolo e zenzero, cotti alla griglia ed accompagnati da una salsa di arachidi), toast di gamberi, fish cakes (polpette di pesce fritte a base di merluzzo e salmone) e tempura di gamberi. Piatto decisamente abbondante servito, come da tradizione, in numerosi mini piattini ed accompagnato da un paio di coppette con salsa piccante e salsa di arachidi. Buono. A seguire ordiniamo la stessa portata, tre Pad Thai con il classico contorno di Riso al vapore. Noodles di riso saltati nel wok con l'aggiunta di pollo e gamberi oltre alle solite verdure e spezie. Piatto ricco, gustoso, ma equilibrato nei sapori. Veramente ben fatto. Azzardiamo due caffè, pessima decisione e chiediamo il conto. La spesa complessiva è pari a 75.50 sterline che corrispondono a circa 88 euro. Considerate le varie esperienze londinesi, direi un ottimo rapporto Q/P accompagnato da un servizio gentile e cortese.

PAD THAI NEVER DISAPPOINTS Is Saturday. Long tour in the center and Thai lunch break. We stop at Monkey & Me, a simple place, very minimal, but welcoming. There are three of us, we are the first, there is no other customer, but it doesn't worry us. To start with, a bottle of water and a couple of glasses of white wine. Firm and fresh. Overall, pleasant. We decide to share a Monkey Mixed Starter for two people. The offer includes spring rolls, chicken satay (chicken skewers marinated in coriander and ginger, cooked on the grill and accompanied by a peanut sauce), prawn toast, fish cakes (fried fish balls made with cod and salmon) and shrimp tempura. A decidedly abundant dish served, as per tradition, in numerous mini saucers and accompanied by a couple of cups with spicy sauce and peanut sauce. Good. Next we order the same course, three Pad Thai with the classic side dish of steamed rice. Wok-fried rice noodles with the addition of chicken and prawns as well as the usual vegetables and spices. Rich, tasty dish, but balanced in flavours. Really well done. We risk two coffees, bad decision and ask for the bill. The total cost is equal to 75.50 pounds which corresponds to approximately 88 euros. Considering the various experiences in London, I would say an excellent Q/P ratio accompanied by a kind and courteous service.

Great little Thai restaurant. Food is fresh, healthy and tasty with the usual array of Thai food on offer. Service is attentive and efficient. Wine list seems good although we had Singha beer. Pricing is reasonable for the quality on offer. Overall would recommend without hesitation.

We came accross Monkey & Me walking around looking for a place to have dinner and were lucky to get the last table for two! Really cozy thai restaurant, cute vibe with dark interiors, warm lighting and candles. Staff were SUPER friendly and top service! And very helpful when ordering. We really enjoyed the chicken satay, the glass noodles with king prawns and the chicken stir fry (with rice) was amazing! Worth a visit if you are in the area.

Excellent, authentic Thai food at very affordable prices and with friendly, helpful service.

Fantastic food. Delicious cocktails. The best chicken satay I’ve ever had. Spring rolls were amazing too. Very polite waiting staff. My only recommendation would be to do something about the building to dampen sound. It’s very very loud inside because everything is concrete and the sound just bounces around. It was very difficult to have a conversation over everyone else shouting. You need decor that absorbs sound.

Excellent food and simple ambience. This place is all about its thai food. Loved the duck in tamarind sauce, the chicken in green curry, pad thai and the fried rice. All the dishes were excellent, went there twice during our stay. Will be back.

Food is amazing. We loved the thai grilled chicken green curry and the sharing platter. Pad thai also very good. They allow big groups which is a rare find here in central london. Very good value for money. Customer service is very warm, friendly, and excellent!

This restaurant has it all, ambience, great staff and amazing food. It has got to be the best Thai food outside of Thailand. We had the monkey and me fresh rolls which were so good we ordered 2 probs. The chicken satay was fantastic with only the best chicken used. I opted for the pad Thai with chicken and cleared the plate. Delicious is an understatement. I wish we had room for dessert because I'm guessing the mango and sticky rice would be great too. I left my handbag behind and the staff rushed out to me to give it back. They could have just put it to the side and waited for me to return but went the extra mile. AMAZING

super dissapointing thai, i expect a green curry to blow my head off and this had practically zero spice, I could of fed it to a baby.

A south east Asian culinary restaurant which has done its homework in terms of food, presentation and ambience. A delightful start with the tom yum soup really warmed up the spirits with a mild chilli flavour. Beef salad was a lovely amalgamation of flavours with a tinge of everything. The grilled Squid was bland but as the title suggests I can't expect much. The green curry special with aubergine was the star, paired it with jasmine rice and voilah. There are other dishes I'll be back to try!

Popped in for lunch as I hadn’t been here for a while. They have a great deal on a set menu (2 courses for £14.95). The food arrived quick and tasted great. A good portion size! They don’t sell many wines by the glass though!

This place is amazing. Truly authentic and delicious Thai food. My wife and I stumbled across it while on a trip to Marylebone and were very happy with our meal. The staff were super attentive and helpful with our menu choices. The food was excellent and cooked beautifully. Highly recommend to anyone in the part of London.

Super delicious food. Efficient and warm service.

Went jn for lunch with a couple of colleagues and chose the set price menu. Satay came out barely warm (quite soggy chicken) so I asked the waitress for a fresh dish - came back straight out of the microwave (with the chicken I bit off the skewer still in tact on the plate!). Main was tasty but sticky rice was crusty on the outside. I guess they survive on tourists but I for one won’t be going back.

It’s a cheap, local restaurant. Set price lunch. Food is ok but nothing to write home about. Gets busy with office crowds. Use it when just want to eat without travelling anywhere as close by my house.

Lovely little place not far from Baker St. Service was perfect, staff were so friendly and accommodating. Had a nut allergy in our group and they were. Ery helpful and could make dishes without. Good happy hour deals mid-week and best of all, food was very tasty.

Green curry is my favourite Thai dish. It was creamy and spicy with a lot of chicken. The King Prawn Glass Noodles were good too. I wouldn't order the Pak Choi dish again as it was pretty small. Overall a nice spot :)

Произошел инцидент сегодня - во время заказа я сказала, что не знаю тайский кухни и спрашивала о еще по фото из Гугл Мап, просила НЕ острую еду ни в каком виде, мне принесли заказ и он острый , очень. Еле официант забрал, подошла менеджер - обговорили замену, но похоже моя замена и ситуация ее сильно раздражала, так же раздражала, когда мы не могли сразу провести оплату по карте. Но в целом о месте приятное впечатление. Не хочу занижать балы. Про атмосферу - к вечеру много людей собралось и в ресторане стоял гул, хотя мы сидели крайний стол с выходом на улицу. Учитывайте пожалуйста это, если неона тихая камерная или романтическая обстановка.

Great Thai food and reasonable prices for its location. Been here a couple of times and staff are always attentive. The only reason why I gave 4 points to atmosphere is because the place can get very noisy especially when there are big groups. You almost cannot have conversations with your own group. The acoustics could use a bit of improvement. Not a place for a quiet dinner although everything else is great.

DEEEEELICIOUS food. You have to try the Massamang and the Broccoli side dish and the pork and prawn dumplings.

No way Monkey and Me only gets 4.3. It is a travesty. Wonderful local restaurant. Great value. One of the best Pad Thais you will have, great currys. We love it (ignore the haters)

I’ve visited many restaurants (Thai in particular) around the world and rarely write a review but this place we’ve discovered unintentionally just looking for a quick dinner with our 5 yo is truly outstanding. 5 out of 5. Everything we ordered (especially desserts) were so yummy) kudos to the chef and the team. Really good thai place)

I came here with a colleague and was eager to try a London Thai Cuisine in Central London since I’m from Norfolk. I was quite disappointed. The staff are wonderful and my Prosecco was delicious with a Strawberry on the side however, the food was barely edible. We started with the Fish Cakes which was quite tough and extremely limey, very much like bleach it was too limey. We also had these noodle wrapped avocado and cucumber sushi rolls which was also nothing to shout home about. Quite chewy too. Then the main we just had chicken Pad-Thai which was bland, quite watery and needed salt. The chicken was tasteless as well and the noodles was also quite small? Unfortunately that’s all we tried I hope there is some chef improvements as the Thai is in a good location.

No options for beef or pork in Thai cuisine. Shocking & disappointing.

Easy to book a table and good service. Food was very tasty. Was quite noisy with a large booking on a Friday night. Rice portions were small and ate a strange banana in milk dessert! But overall, a great meal with friends.

Good Thai fare in a nice venue, good wines. Laab sald and grilled prawn were excellent, as were duck and vegetable curries (green and red)

The appetiser sharing platter had a good variety. Ordered Pad Thai, grilled pork, and massaman curry. Every dish was very tasty. Service was decent. Very close to Baker Street station.

While the food was pretty awesome as well as good value for me. The service seemed a bit hassled. Our main course arrived at least 25 mins after our appetisers were finished (even though we had ordered all the food right at the beginning). I could see that there was a rush of delivery orders going out which could be a reason for delayed service for folks who actually showed up to eat. Even though some staff was apologetic about the delays, some others were quite cold and inexperienced at the job. The service staff isn't doing justice to the kitchen team which is doing a fab job at the food.

Bang average, spring roll filling cold

I've been here before with a big party and was very impressed but had the opportunity to go back for a quick meal on my own and wasn't disappointed. Chicken satay starter was fresh and tasty and king prawn with rice noodles awesome.

Went on the off chance as were local after shopping nearby and google searches for Thai places. Independent owned and easy to park Veggie food was good and tasty. Service was friendly and attentive. The food is excellent. The menu has a broad range of options, with interesting dishes that you won't find in other thai places. The portions are well sized. The service was average and the decor of the restaurant is nothing special, but the food is so good I am still giving it 5 stars.

Rotten food, got food poisoning

A shame the food was ruined by the terrible service from the “manager”. We were asked to leave as soon as we put down our forks even though we had eaten as soon as the food came, and the food was delivered slowly. When we mentioned this to the manager she uttered under her breath that we didn’t book but there wasn’t even a queue - won’t return.

"You didn't book a table so you need to leave" restaurant staff Rushed out the restaurant while finishing the mains after an hour at the restaurant. Terrible and slow service, rude staff and average food. Go anywhere else if you like to enjoy yourself at a restaurant.

Visited for lunch on a trip with my mother who doesn't like spicy food and I am vegan Very handy for Baker Street tube station 5 to 10 minute walk. Excellent service. Very polite and attentive but not overly so, offered options, water regularly refilled. Food came in a timely manner and we didn't feel rushed to leave at all. We had also booked for 1.30 but had arrived half an hour earlier and they accommodated us Very reasonably priced . 1 starter, 2 mains, 1 dessert, 2 beers and 2 hot drinks came in at around 60 pounds Absolutely delicious food really really good !

This restaurant is a 5-7 min walk from baker Street station. The food was absolutely delicious. The cuisine is Thai. The staff is helpful and friendly. They have lots of vegetarian options. They also have seating. However, the restaurant is generally quite busy, so best to go there with a reservation.

Great Thai place, if you're a spice fiend you'll find they cater to the tastes of the general public so the food isn't super spicy. Bring your own bottle of fire.
