Definitely my favourite place for a take away! Fresh, hot food delivered quickly! Alter dishes to suit taste.

The food taste like it has come straight out of the kitchen – and freshly created; in that way it’s authentic. However, it’s not “exciting” enough that I felt coming back for more. The portions are “conservative” – so don’t expect to stuff yourselves. Usually restaurants cater for big eaters by giving them plenty of bread; here there was no sense of them doing that with giant Naans. Authentic but lacklustre

Having previously ordered from this establishment and having a very positive experience I had no qualms in ordering from here again. The order was taken politely and delivery times price etc explained. The meal was delivered within the timescale stated and delivery driver was polite. The starter was quite good although the onion Bahjis were cold. a small matter. It was at this point the experience plummeted. The main course was tasteless and very watery with little solid matter, It certainly tasted nothing like the described dishes. The accompanying Naan breads were stodgey and very lightly cooked with little traces of the ordered flavourings. Very rarely do we waste food but most of the main course was thrown out in to the bin. The drop in standards compared with our previous order was marked and to such a degree that I would not order from them again. Having read the reviews from their sister establishment I wonder why there is such a vast difference between the two ?

Had a fab meal from here as a takeaway. We order at least once a week. Hot and tasty food. The peshwari pilau is fabulous. They also do Mushroom Naan bread which is delicious. Highly recommend here.

After having encounted an arrogant delivery man who said he had been knocking for ages,yet our dog didn,t bark,he practically threw delivery at me i said sorry we hadn,t heard him huge sign on gate saying please keep gate shut as we have dog,he left this wide open luckily we noticed this before the dog got out, the beef bhuna had a large thin piece of metal wire in,chutney was not nice,and the tikka masala had a funny taste,chicken tikka nan was burnt with no chicken tikka in it,would not recommend anyone to use this restaurant,mainly because of the attitude of the arrogant delivery driver

Siempre me pides exactamente la misma comida del menú cada vez. Inicialmente era encantadora, con un montón de ingredientes de calidad, sin embargo, el último que pedí 13 de junio de 2017 era sencillo, muy caliente (capsicum no especias) y insípido y terminó en la papelera. Es que era.El estándar de la comida ha empeorado en los últimos 6 meses o así. Parece que han ampliado y otros restaurantes de abrir y el de páramo del sur ha sufrido como resultado. Es una pena realmente pero no puedo seguir confiando en sus premios para mantener a los clientes si no se entrega la misma calidad. Curry última que pedí fue la peor curry que hemos probado en mis 40 años de comer curry. Como he dicho, lo pongo en la papelera, incluso el perro no come.

Que pedimos desde aquí durante los últimos 8 años o así, y la comida era muy agradable, así como el servicio. Durante el año pasado, notamos que el sabor era muy aguados y por lo tanto utilice otro hindú para llevar. El pasado viernes 2 de junio, decidimos intentarlo con la esperanza de que la comida había vuelto a su habitual sabores deliciosos. Por desgracia no tuvimos la oportunidad. La Orden se colocó en 20. 20 y me dijeron en 45 minutos. Tuvimos que llamar de vuelta a las 21. 25 y dijeron a 5 minutos. Finalmente llegamos a las diez de la comida. 15, que no aceptamos. Se han informado de que nosotros tuvimos suerte ya tenía una escapada la comida se ha deteriorado aún más. Monju para nosotros no más y muchas personas sabemos

I've had takeaways and I've sat in and every single time without fail the food has been phenomenal. I won't have Indian food from anywhere else now

Used this takeaway for a few years now and have never been disappointed. I would happily recommend it for tasty fod at a reasonable price.

Tenían nuestra orden equivocada, pero como esperamos para las edades que tomó lo que nos dio. Hacía frío y sin sabor, el poppadoms eran tan rancio fueron 'bendy y para lo que era, era muy caro.Arruinó lo que se suponía que iba a ser una noche agradable

We had fancied an Indian meal for ages and decided to have the banquet special on the Sunday night which would easily feed 4 never mind 2 this place never fails to deliver on quality and portion size would always recommend this place above any other delicious.

Fantastic again. Always recognise my voice no matter how long since I last ordered. Great service as always and Chicken Joshani is amazing! Been a customer for many years and still the best!!

Very nice place to eat .Nice tasty food..always hot.In my opinion the portions on the night I visited were on the small..unsure if they are like that all the time. As only been the once ..Other than that nice food and a nice clean place to eat.

Been a while since i got food from these. After tonites take a way it will be the last food was tasteless and bland. A total waste of money.Something that was supposed to be spicey was horrible. Give these a miss. Used to be fantastic now crap.

The title says it all really. The food really was some of the most bland, tasteless Indian food I've had the misfortune to sample and I've lived and worked all over the UK. Think I'll stick with Asda's meal deal as they are much better...and cheaper. :(

This restaurant provides a first class menu with loads of variety of dishes which you would expect with any Indian restaurant. There also a number of unusual and not as common dishes available in the special section of the menu. The owner/staff who work here are very friendly and efficient and take good care of you. I highly recommend the Lamb Dhansak with chili rice, a firm culinary favourite with my family and friends. The place also does a cracking pint of Cobra

Got a takeaway last night from here. Chicken was of terrible quality, which was confirmed the next day . Overall very bland. Defo won't be revisiting. Stay clear. Not an so called award winning place like stated in adverts.

Arrived about 7pm on a Saturday and were the only people in the restaurant, saw 2 members of staff, 1 that seated us and 1 who took the order, both very nice and polite but that was the only good thing about the visit. I have never seen such small portions in any Indian restaurant before and the food that we did get was very bland and I suspect it was prepared earlier and then just put in the microwave or possibly left over from the night before. Ordered a diet coke but when it came it was a normal coke but I suspect they thought I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Anyway, one to avoid in future, we thought the small portion sizes may be reflected in the bill but that arrived and cost about the same as it does in our usual indian where we get lovely tasty decent size portions.

Empty on a Wednesday night, food was mixed. Starter Ok - main course OK - but initially got the wrong one - ordered veggie dish but came with chicken. Rapidly corrected by helpful staff

Just took receipt of a take away meal from this place only to return home and find the contents of the bag smashed all over. The food tins were stacked so high in one bag that all the bottom ones had been squashed resulting in them bursting onen with masala sauce all over te place. Having spent 10 minutes trying to salvage our meal it was then cold. A quick microwave brought the food back up to temperature for us to taste and soon discover the bland taste, minimum amount of meat. This is without doubt the worst Indian meal we have had in 20 years and we won't ever return! We called to discuss this and got know where fast without an Apology

I went here with my wife and some friends (8 of us in total) and I can honestly say I have never been so impressed with an eatery as I was with monju's. I normally don't feel the need to write reviews but thus time I felt I had to make an exception to highlight how good this place is. Our group get together on a regular basis and on this occasion we decided to try this place. From the very beginning we were made to feel really welcomem. The service was first rate all throughout. The waiters were attentive and polite but not intrusive. One gentlemen who I can only assume to be the owner or manager, obviously very experienced couldn't do enough for us. The good was absolutely delightful. We all started off with poppadoms and pickles which were tasty and fresh. The drinks menu is decent as well plus they have the Indian lager cobra on draught and a good selection of wines. We then ordered a selection of starters. Too much to talk about here (although I could) but to mention a few favourites amongst the group onion bhajis were unreal, chicken chat lovely and samosas brilliant all so fresh. We then went on to mains which were again terrific. General consensus from the group the best we have ever had in terms of Indian cuisine at least. Again to name a few madras was exceptional, Balti gorgeous and some of special variation fishes were out of this world such as the handi and theen mishali dishes. All curries were loaded with meat and depth of flavour which is what we were impressed by most. This place was that good some of the group were already planning the next visit. We were surprised that the restaurant was about 2 thirds full on a Saturday night. However one of our group pointed out that the takeaway side of the businesses is one of the busiest in the area snd that they offer delivery and collection service. Which made sense since you could constantly here the phones ringing when some members went out temporarily. Overall a must visit. Don't be put off by location if you want a quality night out with great food and service in comfortable surroundings I would say this restaurant is your best bet in the Stanley derwentside Durham area. Needless to say we have already booked our next visit!!! Dan H

Dined here on Saturday night with a Groupon voucher, food was absolutely delicious, not many people in & it wasn't very warm, but the service & the food made up for it. We will definitely return, order takeaway & recommend.

We have been to this restaurant several times now and have never been disappointed. All I can say is that the food is great and the service exceptional. The menu is varied, however, if you fancy something a little different, all you have to do is ask and the chef is happy to oblige. I love the mixed kebab starters..... The drinks are not expensive and won't break the bank. There is also free parking available just a couple of metres away.

I live about a 5-10 minute walk from this place and, not rating the area very much, I'd never been in nearly 5 years of living here. BIG mistake. When we arrived, we were greeted nicely but it was empty. Turns out we were just early cos the place was packed not long after! Service in general was subtle and very polite. The food - oh my, some of the best indian restaurant food I've had! And I'm not even a fan of this type of cuisine. We're moving out of Stanley next month but have commited to at least getting take out from this place before we go. Very recommended. Looks just like the photos too - kept clean.

We first went to this restaurant a couple of months ago with our Son and his girlfriend and it was fabulous. Very good value, great service and food was delicious. My husband and I went tonight with a groupon deal. The food was just as good and the service first class however we were the only people in so the atmosphere was somewhat lacking. The restaurant is tucked in an out of the way area and you can't really see from the front that it is a restaurant so don't let this put you off or you will miss out on a fantastic restaurant

I have been using this Restaurant for many years as a Takeaway. This is the first time I have been inside the Restaurant. The food was gorgeous from a comprehensive menu. I recommend 5he Chicken Chat starter delicious. The Staff are lovely. We had a small intimate sub room. We will definitely be back Susan and Mark

As others have said, we too were on a Groupon deal. Such a fantastic offer!One of the best Indian meals I have had in ages!The only downside was that we were the only diners on a Saturday night so the heating went on when we arrived and was turned off when we finished our main courses.Please do visit but take a cardi!

We went as a group of 4 after buying the offer on groupon . Fantastic food good service and excellent value . On the downside it was a Sunday night and we were the only diners so lacked a little bit of atmosphere. Would defnitely go again .

My wife and I noticed a Groupon deal for this restaurant, and to be honest we had no idea it was there despite ordering take aways from other establishments on same street. We purchased the deal £19.50 for two people with two courses (bargain). We booked atable for tonight 28/10/14, the restaurant was particularly quite most likely because it was mid week. The restaurant is very large with plenty of seating,I would imagine when busy this place would have a fantastic atmosphere. We had poppadoms and pickle tray (extra on top of Groupon) poppadoms were nice and crispy (fresh)the selection in the picky tray was great, there was the usual onion, lime pickle,mango chutney and this amazing spicy runner bean type sauce all were fantastic. For starters I had chicken pakora which was hot and cooked very nicely, my wife had tandoori chicken both starters were of ample size. Our main meal in went with madras which was cooked to perfection, the chicken was moist and the sauce was very delicious the right amount of spice which was not immediately noticeable but when it did hit, it was subtle and nice. My wife went with the jalfrezzi which had another varied and tasty selection of spices including the deliciously cooked tandoorichicken.The service was perfect just enough attention from staff at the right time,which is just what I like,both the waiter and the manager (owner) came by to confirm that we were OK and the food was good (which it was). Overall this is a exceptionally good restaurant,I will return but next time on a busier night so that we can sample the restaurant when it is busier to better judge the atmosphere,I also try the takeaway so that I can have a varied experienceBut if your from the area can i suggest you give this place a try.

We ate here for the first time and the food was delicious. The menu is extensive and the people who served us were so willing to please. It was a pity that it was not a little more busy but suppose the market is very difficult in this area these days. We would go back.

Monju has been here for ages and we have used it extensively for many years.We have closer Indian takeaways that we have tried but we've always gone back to Monju.Really tasty, good range of dishes, consistently good and great staff.We've never eaten in here but friends have said it's good.Our curry club had a huge takeaway for a charity night and everyone was impressed!Last night's takeaway as good as usual!
