We have had several take away meals from this restaurant over the last few months and they have been very good, so we decided to book a sit down meal. The restaurant is situated above the Coach and Horses pub, so 2 flights of stairs. I didnt see a lift or stair assist, so anyone who finds stairs difficult may have problems with access. The restaurant is licenced, so no bringing your own drinks We were warmly welcomed and shown our table. Within a very short time the drinks were served and menus handed out. The food was excellent, not huge portions but very tasty and well presented. I would advice to book as tables are limited and I noticed people were waiting for a table when we left. We would recommend this restaurant

Had a lovely curry week before ordered another as I want to support my local community but we ordered madras which we did previously and it was good but this tine they used scotch bonnet peppers which I’m allergic to I am sad as I wanted to support and promote but I’m ill with it

Obviously this curry house is making that much profit it doesn't stay open to the advertised times. Got there at 10:40 on the Friday after Xmas, door was locked and not answering phone. No problem closing early as long as it's advertised. Poor show.

We used the Momtaj Spice's take away service whilst on the local Shropshire Union Canal, Two of us walked to the restaurant, which is over a local pub, to place the order and they were most receptive to the dietary requirements of one of our crew. Once ordered the meal was delivered to another pub in the village, next to the canal, where we enjoyed a pint whilst waiting. All of the dishes, bar one, were excellent and included Chicken Madras, Chicken Korahi, Tarka Dahl, King Prawn Balti, Saag Aloo and Saag Paneer. The only dish to disappoint was the Onion Bahji, which tasted bland and contained too much batter. If passing again we would definitely revisit.

Stopped on the canal at Wheaton Aston and decided a curry was the choice food for the night and so pleased we did. Ordering a takeaway was easy and delivery to the canal was included. Delivery was within the quoted time and the food was superb. Nothing to fault everything to praise.

We were moored here on pur boat and phoned this place for a takeaway. We had chicken tikka starter and chicken tikka jalfrezi main. The whole meal was average. Nothing great and nothing bad. Chicken a bit rubbery. Deliver service was first class. After phoning order the delivery driver met me on the canal bridge 20 mins later with food. Overall an average Indian meal. Would not rush back to this place.

Such a shame, I’ve always loved Momtaj Spice and haven’t been there for a while so the other night when ordering a delivery I was very disappointed. I called through the order and was told the delivery would be about 30-45 minutes which seemed perfectly acceptable. After an hour I called to check where it was... no apology given just told to give them 15 more minutes as they were very busy - fair enough. A further 50 minutes(!!!!) I was about to pick up the phone to cancel the order when we had a call from the delivery driver he had gone to a neighbours house, after directing him to our home he continued to moan at me about how busy he was and how they had to deliver too far out and that he’d had to go to 4 other villages before they got to us. No apology... nothing and well unsurprisingly the food was cold and needed to be microwaved. Safe to say I won’t be ordering from them again!

The food here is excellent, the menu extensive, and the staff are friendly and efficient. Living nearby, we usually collect food for home consumption, but we have taken several groups here and the food and atmosphere were well received. The entrance is rather uninviting, but the restaurant is very pleasant.

Thought we would have a treat, salmon starter, sheiks kebab and poppadoms, no chilli dip with poppadoms and salad, couldn’t eat the salmon it was so dry and got charged extra for the kebabs which wasn’t ordered!! Mains balti chicken and garlic chicken with nann bread, it was a disappointment and for 48.00 it’s not worth it, again we thought we would give it another chance but disappointed-yet again

Visited on spec, having seen notices on the canal. Highly recommended, and rightly so, by locals. Very attentive staff, keen to ensure personal tastes and preferences catered for, advising on the menu and offering any tweaks necessary to meet personal demands. This resulted in one, if not the best, Bangladeshi meal we have had for a long time, if not ever.

This was our first visit as we were passing through the village on the canal. Staff were friendly, efficient and couldn't do enough for us. Lovely and tasteful setting. Toilets were spotless as was the restaurant. The food was fantastic. Lots of choice with a lot of dishes we've not seen at other restaurants. We had the special offer of poppadom and salad tray, starter, main course, rice or nan and coffee. All for £9.95! There was enough food for us to bring home for the next day! The quality was second to none, flavoursome and fresh tasting. We shall be back for more in the future, with friends.

First time here good quality food nice stuff good selection on the menu something for everyone, we will bebck.

George Janos Wheaton Aston Have now had several meals in the 'Under New Mangement' Momtaj Spice restaurant and i have to say the quality of food has been been consistently high. The staff are attentive and very friendly. If you havn't been in yet pop in and see for yourselves.

We regularly visit this restaurant when staying in Wheaton Aston and I can honestly say it’s one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve ever been in. Everything from the friendliness of the staff to the food quality is absolutely spot on. We usually have take away which is always hot and fresh but in the occasions we’ve eaten in everything is perfect. Looking forward to visiting again!

Welcoming attitude and pleasing manners of staff and owner. Personalised care and tasty food whivh was well presented. Topped with yummy fresh cheese cake and ginger-lemon tea in right proportion. Would definitely recommend.

When we went they had a magic night it was great a starter and main coarse for 25 pounds the food is loveley and well presented the waiteres were very pleasant and help full couldent do enough for us we live on a boat and now regularly get food delivered to tge boat

staff were very friendly food seemed a bit overly priced but apart from that everything was fine the drinks were good as well allowing for an open choice to pick from

Estaba pasando por el canal en un barco de vacaciones. Mis amigos y yo nos apetecía Momtaj Spice era India y local y parecía tener comentarios razonables. Lo primero que noté fue lo razonable de los precios de las bebidas eran vinos blancos en el menú bajo 10 libras prácticamente desconocidas de estos días, todos ordenados empezar tuve un puré de gambas patia y era de primera clase con una salsa muy sabrosa y decente tamaño. langostinos Para principal pedí un plato de cordero picante el nombre se me escapa fue una especialidad de la casa y no uno de los platos más comunes que se encuentran en restaurantes indios en el REINO UNIDO. Era simplemente divina caliente pero no ven superados con Chile y el cordero era tierna y bien preparado. Todos mis amigos adaptamos igual de bien y volvimos a nuestra narrowboat extremadamente contenido y no mucho más pobres, la relación calidad-precio excepcional. Mi única queja es que vivo 200 millas y es poco probable que visitar de nuevo.

Comimos aquí regularmente y nunca he sido decepcionado, la comida es preciosa, con una profunda recién preparado mezcla de sabores. Nos encontramos aquí con un grupo grande y me impresionó, no tienen un menú fijo (2 opciones), pero nuestros 3 campos fueron servidos rápidamente y de manera eficiente y la comida era deliciosa y muy buena relación calidad-precio.

Started using this place for takeaways in the village and the food is always good. Little on the expensive side though, can usually sit down at the Kings repose for the same price as a take away from here. Last time we went in they totalled up our order to £41, when we asked for Poppadoms (granted it was 10 as there was a group of us) it then came to £50?? £9 for 10 Poppadoms when you're already spending over £40. £5 for delivery as well when you're spending that much seems harsh for half a mile.

Been using this restaurant for a few years. Never disapointed with the food. Best Indian restaurant for miles. Have also eaten in a few times. Friendly staff who do a lot for their local community. Beats cafe India hands down highly recommend

I was visiting friends in the village of Wheaton Aston. We popped along to their local curry house for tea. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the ambience relaxed. There was plenty of choice on the menu, all reasonably priced. If it wasn't on the menu they were more than happy to make what my friend asked for. The food was all beautifully presented, tasty, and ample sized portions. I can see why my friends like to eat here.

Went in with a few mates after we were all complaining that we were hungry, decided that we weren't going to eat in so we ended up taking the food that we'd bought out with us! I had a korma and chips, I couldn't complain in the slightest..bear in mind I can't say for my mates but mine was spot on!

The worst Indian takeaway we have ever had. The Madras was more like soup with very little chicken at all. Service was from a totally demotivated and clearly sullen 'waitress'. We will not be going back it was that bad. My wife's' veggi balti was inedible. Cheese on toast was the solution. A totally unsatisfactory experience. They won't be in business long and the Cafe India, who always deliver, will be our future provider. Don't go to Mumtaz to be fleeced and thoroughly disappointed. Roly Love

Arrived here unexpectedly (after a VERY frosty reception at another establishment a couple of miles away) and it turned out to be a very jolly evening indeed. Lovely attentive service, plenty of time to catch up with our friends, food was absolutely great, impeccably timed. And then we finished off with a drink in the pub below, which was also smashing. Highly recommended and we will most certainly visit here again.

I have driven 2 and a half hour each way and it was worth a drive my partner birthday food very tasty staff so frendly and not over prized I am a chef my self keep it up guys .thanks to all a specially khai .

This restaurant sits above a pub, and was a real surprise. Great attentive staff, lovely atmosphere and whats even better super food. I had the chicken madras, and it was probably one of the best I've ever eaten. Can't wait to go back again, and its my intention to go through the menu!

My wife and I visited this restaurant last year whilst on a canal holiday. We visited it again twice on this year's canal holiday. It was, as ever, absolutely first class. The service is friendly and knowledgeable. The Manager, Alim, is excellent and the food unsurpassable. Special dietary requests are fully understood and catered for and I simply cannot fault this, somewhat hidden away, but worthwhile, gem.

The restaurant was mentioned in Canal Companion, which is where we saw it as we are passing by on our narrowboat.It is situated above a pub in the sleepy village of Wheaton Aston and deserves the full accolade of people coming from miles around to eat here.OK so we visited on special offer night, when the full meal costs just a tenner, but I would happily have paid the full menu price which looked quite reasonable.The food was well-cooked, nicely presented and thoroughly delicious.Wish we lived nearer to visit more often.

We have been using Momtaj Spice for many years as our "go to" Indian Takeaway. They deliver free locally and we have never once been unhappy with our orders. This weekend we actually went out with family (eight of us, two of those under 10 years old) and dined in the lovely restaurant they have. It's small, intimate and wonderfully furnished. Alim and his entire staff work really hard without appearing too rushed or stressed to make the whole experience something special. We have eaten Indian Cuisine all over Europe but last Sunday night was one of the nicest meals out of this kind we have had. And all from our own regular local, we just didn't know it.The Thursday & Sunday special menu is superb value indeed, in fact so good we are going again this Thursday evening.Well done Momtaj Team, I told you I'd be doing a Schwarzenegger !!

Two of us called here and had the special Thursday deal.Poppadom, pickles,starters, main and side dish.All for £10 each.They are happy to adjust the spiciness and heat to your individual taste.They actually care about serving good, tasty food.All our food was very good and beautifully presented and although it was a bitterly cold night, the restaurant was warm and cosy. Service was knowledgeable and friendly and they even offered us a lift down the road as it had been snowing.

I have been using this restaurant for two years now. The food is excellent. I am a coeliac and the food has never made me ill. The servings are more than generous . Delivery on take outs is fast and free in the local area. Eating in is relaxed, whilst staff are obviously well trained and professional whilst being very friendly and helpful. The recent New Year celebrations here were fantastic. After our meal, which was a set menu, the tables were pushed back and we danced to a disco. I definitely recommend Momtaj Spice to anyone. If you have a dietary issue. The chef is excellent. Enjoy :)

The food was very bland no taste at all plus very slow service and if u can please avoid the toilets. My only regret is I should've checked it out before I went there very disappointed will not be dining there again

Had a lovely well presented meal here,It was our first time and was very happy with the service .From the starters to the sides we couldn't fault anything and to top it all off we were presented with a complimentary baileys and a brandy for the hubby .We will be returning .

We are from Brighton, not local, but we must have used this take-away at least 12 times and ate in the restaurant twice. Once we tried a different Indian restaurant in the area - BIG mistake - we always come back to Momtaj Spice.Quality of food is consistently good, flavour is authentic Indian - not all sweet, red and sickly. My favourite dish is always the King Prawn Saag Balti - it's green, fresh, chocked full of spinach and loads of sweet, juicy king prawns. Husband is more adventurous than me and has sampled many more of their dishes, he travels a lot in India and he thinks the quality of Indian food here is outstanding.We have eaten a couple of times in the restaurant and although the quality is equally as good - the portion sizes do seem somewhat smaller. It is worth travelling to Wheaton Aston just to taste their Indian food. Cannot recommend highly enough

If you are reading this, you may have noticed a lot of reviews for Momtaj Spice recently. This is because there was a threat that they were going to be closed down due to the pub changing hands. However, as can be read on these reviews and seen on Facebook, Momtaj Spice have the support of the community of Wheaton Aston and beyond. We moved to the village 2 years ago and have become regulars at Momtaj Spice. Alim and his staff are friendly and serve a range of good quality food. They regularly put on charity events and support the local community. Glad to hear they remain open.

Have eaten there many times, the food is always good, the service excellent and pub down below a bonus

Although we live in another village, this is our favourite Indian Restaurant in the area. We regularly have takeaways that are delivered, and they always find our house easily, which isn't as simple as you would expect! The food is always great. We only occasionally eat in, but whenever we do we get a warm welcome, great service and fantastic food.

Momtaj Spice is a real asset to our village (we don't have many facilities!) - we use it for takeaways and have had meals there to celebrate special occasions with friends. The food is lovely and service is attentive, friendly and welcoming. Great to have this within walking distance of our house!

My wife and I have been eating at this restaurant for 6 years. The Staff are very friendly and the food has been consistently excellent. The Charity Events and Magic Nights have been superbly organised and well attended confirming how highly respected this establishment has become.

I have eaten at the Momtaj on many occasions as well as had numerous takeaways and the food is always of a excellent standard. The staff are always attentive and friendly and we are sometimes even treated to some impromptu magic tricks by the manager Alim. Visit, you won't be sorry. My wife and I have eaten at this restaurant numerous times with our daughter "Nikki " and her family, also we have enjoyed many takeaways. The staff are always pleasant a nd entertaining the food is always exceptional, hot and tasty, and as I am vegetarian the staff always went out of their way to cater for me. All in all a worthwhile and pleasant dining experience.

I live in Wheaton Aston and have been a regular customer for the 6 years the restaurant has been here. We have takeaways and eat in when we have babysitters. I can honestly say it's the best food I have ever tasted and I've eaten at a lot of Indian restaurants over the years. Excellent food, friendly service and lovely staff... They do the best lamb pathia ever .. Keep up the good work xx

The service of this rather secluded venue begs to differ why they haven't moved to a larger location to better suit their capacity to indulge the local populace. I live in the village and this is my only means of a getting local food without going for pub grub. I can honestly tell you there is no other Indian in the local area that does it better. With the customer base they've gathered over the past 5/6 years exceeding the little village it is placed in. I wish them the best for their continued service

After reading the reviews on here we decided to ensure we could eat here on our canal boat holiday. We were not disappointed. Excellent food, great service- reasonably priced!Loads of take outs were collected whilst we ate in. Stylish restaurant. All in all a lovely meal.

We visited Momtaj Spice after reading the positive reviews during our trip down the Shropshire Union canal on our narrowboat.The restaurant is above a pub and is in a very quiet village. We were about to choose from the menu and thought the prices were very reasonable compared to the south east. However, as this was a Thursday, there was a special price of £9.95 per person (Sunday - Thursday). Popadoms/relish, any choice off the main menu of a starter, main, naan or rice. If you wanted seafood or duck it was £2 extra. With 2pts of lager, the bill came to less than £30 for two people. The food was very good and the portions were substantial. We really couldn't fault the meal, the only disappointing bit of it was the butterfly prawn starter which had too much breadcrumb on it but otherwise we have paid more than double this for a lesser meal.The waiter was attentive and the surroundings were pleasant.Do try it - you won't be disappointed.

My wife and I visited during a holiday on the canals. Excellent food and excellent service. The manager, Alim, was extraordinarily helpful. My wife requires gluten and dairy-free food and this was fully understood and catered for. Anyone in the area, requiring a good meal out, should visit this restaurant.

We live nearby and use them most weeks. You can waste a lot more money going into Wolverhampton to the Bilash, but you won't get a better curry. We occasionally try other curry houses but they are never as good. Really good food at a reasonable price.

Took my brother, who is vegetarian, for a hot curry that he can't normally get in Germany where he lives. The staff were friendly, informative, helpful and accurate in their assessment of our needs and requirements. It is my local curry house, but in light of my brothers visit, I thought I would try something new too. Knowing that I am a complete curry wimp, they suggested a dish that was medium heat but they cooled it slightly for me. The taste was exquisite! I can't recommend this restaurant enough to anyone who enjoys the flavours of food and not just the heat of spices, although I am sure they could provide this if asked too.

We have been to Indian Restaurants all over the country & the Momtaj has some of the best food we have tasted. We go regularly & have never had a bad meal. Alim & the team do a fantastic job in looking after the customers. Well worth a visit even if you live outside the Village, you won't be disappointed .

My wife and I have been regular takeaway and dine-in customers of Momtaj Spice since they opened and we have never had anything less than a perfect experience. The food is fantastic and Alim and his colleagues are wonderful hosts, always welcoming and can't do enough to ensure that customers have everything they want.As mentioned in another review, their community spirit is also commendable with regular fundraising nights being run for local charities.Long may you feed us!! Wish I could give a rating higher than 5/5.

As my local Indian restaurant/takeaway I have used the momtaj regularly for a while now, i know the staff quite well and get on well with all of them.I have never had anything from the momtaj that i didn't enjoy, the food is top quality.The guys also run theme and charity nights with magicians. i am a regular takeaway customer also and cannot fault the dishes.

This is my go to takeaway and restaurant. I have coeliac disease, so have to be really careful about my diet. The food here is excellent and I trust them impeccably . In addition the team have a great sense of local community and run fund raising nights and even nights where magicians are present! The owner is a dab hand himself. A relaxed atmosphere, great hosts and different. I cannot recommend highly enough!

My family and I have visited Momtaj Spice many times. The service is excellent. The attention to detail of dishes is excellent, many restaurants don't bother with garnishes, Momtaj always add something extra which shows they care about the dish and it's presentation. We have eaten at over 160 different Indian/Bangladeshi restaurants and Momtaj is up there with the best. My wife is vegetarian and reckons the vegetable massala is the tastiest she has ever had. My favorite dish is the Lamb raj ki naga, the lamb always melts in the mouth and the chili heat is just right. I have only one critisism and that is the quantity of food, it would be nice to see a little more on the plate, it is so delicious we want more! We have had many takeaways too and have found them to be of a high standard. Car parking is good (through archway of pub), cleanliness of facilities is good, licensed.

We were pleased when this restaurant opened in our village and in the many times we have eaten there we have never been disappointed. The interior of the restaurant is bright, modern and inviting. The team, headed by Alim, create a friendly and comfortable experience. They work hard to ensure that your meal and your evening are as you want it, making sure that your requests are taken into account and delivered.I would heartily recommend Momtaj Spice.

Being local to the area we have a take away a couple of times a month and also dine in the restaurant . The staff are friendly and will cook food to requests, must have had 20 plus meals at momtaj and always been happy. As the title says good food nice staff and good value for money. Had another fab meal last night never come out of this place disappointed the food is really good and tasty and cooked fresh they are such friendly people and make you very welcome we also go with family and friends a lot and they also keep going back you won't be disappointed it's lovely if you like a curry.

we were pleased to find an indian restaurant in Wheaton Aston, especially one that delivered as we were on a boat on the canal. it is part of a local pub and the staff were friendly enough. we ordered by telephone and the food took about 25 mins to arrive. they notified us by text that they were on their way so that we could meet them at the bridge. sadly the food was not good. chicken tikka masala tasted exactly the same as the chicken bhuna, all were flavourless. the onion and mushroom bahjis were soggy and again tasteless. sadly this was one of the worst indian meals we have had in a long time.
