Moka in Epsom and Ewell

I come to Mokka every day for lunch and no matter what I order the food always comes out lovely and the service is great. I would recommend.

Always friendly here with good food and service. I tried the newly added "Med eggs", in a tomato sauce. Absolutely outstanding, genuinely one of the best meals I've had in a long time.

Let’s start from the beginning. Placed our order at the till………wow the lady was actually convivial, or was this a one off. The young servers were excellent. Tables were cleared and cleaned promptly when customers left. The food and coffee were excellent especially my omelette. Now the bad news ………we sat in the lower part of the restaurant …..THE NOISE!!!……I never realised a dishwasher could produce so much. First the cups were almost thrown on the rack and shuffled followed by the saucers!!! Then just as you think it’s all over come the plates……..you cannot have a conversation. Having looked at previous reviews this has been mentioned before, but obviously no action taken. So who is David, because I didn’t see anyone resembling the manager who has responded on here before. Shame but we will return because it does make a great talking point with friends who also frequent but don’t comment on social media……..

The lunch served was actually quite nice, expensive but nice I had the prawn/mango wrap and it was lovely Kids were happy too I just cannot explain why the older lady is so abrupt. I wouldn't say Rude......some would Id say tactless and abrupt.

Worst Toasted sandwich I’ve ever had, coleslaw was tasteless, dry, more onion in my toastie then cheese, staff behind the counter look so feed up, the very old guy behind the counter is only polite if your female ( bit Creepy ) no please or thank you from any of the staff, coffee was nice but come on a horrible chipped saucer 😞 Absolute Dive of a place, such a shame because it’s quite a nice spot ( anyone that thinks the food here is nice, obviously has no idea about food, worst £20.00 I’ve ever spent

This is a review of the MOKA cafe which serves breakfast and not the one outside Superdrug which I love and find staff friendly too. The chilli avocado toast was disgusting and tasted so sweet as if honey had been poured all over it. Maybe they had no real chilli so thought pouring sweet chilli sauce all over it would be nice idk but it was horrible. Please fix this to avoid further disappointment. Staff didn't seem very friendly either so I didn't both letting them know.

Recently discovered this place and must say I should have gone sooner! The quality of the food and coffee is some of the best we’ve had so far and I must say that the service is also of a great standard. Staff greeted us politely and provided great service throughout both times we visited! Lovely welcoming atmosphere too. Will be visiting again 10/10!

My friend and I went here for lunch to celebrate my birthday. We have been several times before and the food here is always excellent. I had eggs Benedict and the poached eggs were cooked to perfection. It is very good value for money and the service is good. The only down side is that we were sitting in the lower part of the restaurant and they have a dishwasher area above, which one of the staff was using and unfortunately it was so loud with all the noise of the dishes clattering we could hardly hear ourselves talking at times. Also the staff were having very loud conversations with each other and all in all it wasn’t the most relaxing of atmospheres. If you have any hearing difficulties or are sensitive to loud noise then I wouldn’t recommend.

From the moment we stepped into this place we should have walked back out. From start to finish, never have we encountered so much aggression and hostility from the servers. Everything from asking for ice in our drinks to requesting an extra napkin was met with an eye roll then slammed on to the table when it arrived without comment. The food was reasonable but the reception was diabolical and for that reason, we won't be returning. Having spoken to colleagues following our experience, it appears this isn't a one off and that an ejection of hospitality and good manners would t go amiss.

Terrible customer service, waiting staff literally rolled her eyes at me, after they messed up an order. They shouldn’t be putting their grievances back onto their paying customers.

Menu has been the same for over 10 years. Ordered the Falafel wrap which was £8.90 and looked like mush. A can of Diet Coke costs £3. Daylight robbery. Service reasonably quick

For years, when I went to Epsom, we went to Moka - there was something so nice about it - good food, comfortable and you know what you were going to get. There was a buzz…. sadly not now. It has become a shell of its former self and I won’t be going back. The menu has been cut considerably. The lunch/sandwich options have significantly reduced and their fab toasted sandwiches have gone. They used to offer table service, but now you have to go up to order - ok, not a big issue but there are no signs to say that - so we waited and waited, eventually we asked if she would take our order, to which we were told to go to the till. I ordered an avocado on toast, but got a thin smearing of avocado on bread. The garnish was lettuce and some of it was wilted. There was no care and attention to the meal - and it cost nearly £10! Frustratingly no-one was around to say something to once they dropped it at the table. Summed up - Moka has taken a downward slide. There are now much better eateries that offer higher quality food at reasonable prices.

Stopped off for a bit of coffee and cake when in Epsom with mum. The cake was super yummy as you can see from mum's it was gone before I could even take a pic lol. The sound in the restaurant really carries, it is very loud with the noise of plates and cutlery from the serving area, and peoples voices make it hard for someone who is hard of hearing, bare that in mind if you want a quiet spot. I asked the waitress for a very milky half cold milk hot chocolate for my elderly mother when it arrived thankfully I checked it before she touched the glass as it was scolding hot. I took it back and asked for half to be poured away and topped up with cold milk as I had originally requested which was not met with the best reaction by the waitress but I will give her the benefit of the doubt and perhaps she was not having the best day. Unlikely we will return to the indoor Moka the one in the open area of the Ashley Centre is much friendly and less loud.

I didn't expect much from this place but the food was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced for the portion sizes. Will definitely be back whenever I come to Epsom!

This was my first experience eating at Moka. I ordered a Gyro, which is a kind of wrap with grilled chicken and chips inside. I chose it as it was something I'd never seen before. The flavours were very fresh and the portion was exceedingly generous. So for an interesting dish, great flavours and generous portion I would have to recommend. I would certainly eat here again.

I have been coming to Moka in Epsom everyday for years for the best cappuccino and a warm welcome. It is a family run Italian cafe and I feel very comfortable sitting here reading my newspaper, drinking their delicious coffee and having a Pastel De Nata (they have a good range of pastries and cakes). It is very popular with a wide range of customers and its nice to meet friends and family here for breakfast or lunch, which is very nice and good value. In the summer it's lovely to dine here al fresco. Service deserves a special mention ; always warm and welcoming , making Moka a daily pleasure to visit.

I've been a regular customer at Moka in Epsom since it first opened. I took my daughter there as a baby and now we take her daughters there. It's still run by the same family, which is not something you get from most coffee shops. Their staff are all very friendly and helpful, my baby granddaughter loves them! I often have breakfast in Moka and it's always perfect, far better than I could cook for myself. No grease, everything hot and cooked beautifully. I look forward to the cappuccino, it's always a treat. The lunch menu choice is very good, especially the burger and chips. I highly recommend the strawberry tart, excellent presentation.

My husband had a bacon cheese burger with fries. I had a chicken & avacado wrap. Both delicious. Could not fault it. Nice side salad and crisps with my wrap. Very friendly service and very quick. I love Moka - they never disappoint. Good value...

I can see a lot of bad reviews here but I don’t understand why - we visit here frequently and the staff are always polite, the food is great and the drinks are also lovely.

when i came here we ordered food and we got it in around 10 to 15 mins but the food was cold so im not very happy with it and it is to over priced for what you get .

I stopped in at Moka twice this week. I had my friend's son with me the first time and a friend on the second occasion. The service was very friendly and helpful - I am using crutches - and the food was lovely. We had an omelette, fries, sweet potato fries, Coke and a glass of wine the first time and a club sandwich, omelette, fries, cake and juices the second time. Prices are very fair - neither the cheapest nor the most expensive - and the food was perfect. I will definitely be back there at least once a week.

The customer service is so bad. They have forgotten my order twice when I’ve been in there and it was virtually empty both times. They’re very rude and i don’t care about any body. Would really not recommend going there

I find it hard to believe that Moka has managed to maintain such bad service culture for so long. I keep returning as the food isn’t too bad in the hope that one day there may be a happy and helpful staff member but 2 years n and it’s getting a bit painful.

Terrible service here. Me and my friend both ordered pasta. It was meant to be a spicy chilli pasta and it was just tomato. The size of the portion was tiny and the women was rude who served us. We both asked for a bottle of water. When she brought tap water. We said we asked for bottle water. She stormed off and slammed the bottle down on the table. This place has always been the same. I am surprised they are still in business

We went on Saturday for brunch. We sat there ...... and we sat there.... we said to 2 waitresses "can we please order" after 15 minutes. We even moved tables hoping someone would take our order. We saw 1 lady get her sandwich and tried to tell the waitress she hadn't had her chips, but boom she was gone, so she had to wait for another opportunity. Then the poor older lady who had already waited 15 minutes or so to order her pecan Danish and coffee. She got her Danish, and again she sat there, and she continued to sit there...waiting for her coffee. You then get to the till and it's a guessing game for the person on the till to work out what you had.Such a shame.

Eating a panini with sand in would have had more moisture than my tomato and cheese panini - need I say no more. The panini was meant to come with pesto and had none

We tried the new evenning menu. They have recently started evenning service. It was great to dine alfresco in the courtyard. The staff were very friendly and professional. Warm goats cheese salad & king prawn linguine both super tasty and fresh. We33e definatley recamend

I’ve always enjoyed breakfast and brunch at various Moka restaurants. Unfortunately this one has really gone to pot!Breakfast with my husband, firstly the waitress came over to the table to take an order, we asked for our drinks before she dashed off without taking our food order. The tea was served before we could even place a food order leaving it to get cold. I ordered the bacon in a brioche bun and my husband had the bacon and egg brioche bun. We would NOT recommend this. Apart from the egg being hard boiled and microwaved the only thing I can relate it to is the fast food chain McDonalds, only quite a bit pricier at nearly £15.00 for the total bill.Needless to say we were rushed in and rushed out within 10min with them clearing the table before we had even paid.Please don’t waste your money here. There are plenty of local traders who offer a better service and better quality food.

I regularly meet friends here for breakfast. We like the choice of dishes and the food is generally very good. I recommend the sausages or full breakfast. Service is ok. Staff can be very slow to take your order and aren't always particularly polite!

I visited this establishment with my wife and 2 children (new born and a 14 month old) thinking it was a family oriented and friendly place to eat.Service was slow. Our daughters dummy fell on the floor and we wanted to soak it in hot waterAfter we couldn’t find a waiter i proceeded to the drinks counter to ask the lady serving behind it to give me a cop of water, she rudely told me to sit down and wait to be served!!!!!I finally found the waitress and asked her for hot water. She came back empty handed and said the manager refused and that she will wash the dummy for us!!!I asked to see the manager and I was met by a rude and rather loud ‘manager’ telling me in front of other customers that she can not give me hot water because she recently had paid £10,000 as a fine or settlement for a child scolding him/herself with hot water AND that she is not insured!!!!When i asked to cancel my food order she immediately agreed as if she did not want us there!!!!First where on earth did you obtain your qualification as a manager when it is so obvious from the reviews left for you by customers and my family’s experience that neither you or your staff have a clue about customer service!We were looking forward to a family lunch soured by you and your staff unfriendly and aggressive behaviour Thank you

Visited for a quick breakfast with my daughter. The "lady" behind the counter was ranting in another language at the boys working. After she made my coffee and was about to pay I added a croissant to my order, the look she gave me Nd the huff that came out of her was like a teenage strop. Should have just left then. The coffee was burnt and bitter. The croissant stale and hard, I've never had a microwaved " fried" egg and bacon roll before the entire thing came out if the microwave in 1 piece, bread and all. The same knife used to cut the complete sandwich and prep her avocados . Don't be returning to this branch

We were in Epsom to pick up something form a shop in the centre and thought we would stop for a bite to eat.

Came here during Christmas shopping with sister and nephew (who is dairy intolerant). I ordered a sausage baguette. It tasted cheap, bland and something that they brought from Lidi and charged £7 for. My sister ordered a jacket potato, cheese and beans. She requested no butter and cheese to be separate because of the intolerance. The jacket came with butter and the cheese over the plate. She then had to send it back and the jacket came back no butter but cheese still over the plate. She then ordered a plain bread roll for him, again requested no butter, and the roll arrived buttered. The cheese was pre-grated and freezing cold. The staff seemed stressed and didn’t really understand English very well. Will defiantly not return or recommend

A table was reserved for us as there were three people over 85yrs & one had a walker. The staff could not have been more helpful.

The service wasn’t very friendly, I ordered a panini just cheese & onion. I’m only little and I left hungry spending £5 was just a waste. My usual m&s; sandwich for £1.20 actually fills me up!!! I would not return

I’ve been here a number of times .. food and wait times never an issue, but there is one waitress there who is so rude, I don’t know why she’s kept there. I think she’s rushed off her feet and maybe takes it out on customers, but it doesn’t make for a very pleasant experience. Even my toddler asked why the lady was a cross lady today. Some poor guy who’d never been before came in and asked for a cup of tea, (he didn’t know it was waiter service) she jumped down his throat telling him someone would come and take his order, needless to say he didn’t stay.

It was satutday lunchtkme and i was meeting a friend for lunxh. Usually we would do pret ir Costa but i chise this little place. The sun was shining and we took a seat outside. Unfortunately the delay was getting the waiters eye.however once achieved the second wait was for our drinks. However the food was amazing. Hot and tasty. My friend had a tuna jacket and i opted for the cheese and tomato omlette. Trult scrumptious. I have dropped a point purley for the initial table service. To be fair it may have been a shortage of staff.

Staff were running around like headless chickens as they were obviously understaffed. They were polite, friendly and apologised for wait. My smashed avocado with poached eggs was disappointing as the avocado was sliced up and not smashed. Although my eggs were runny, the whites were undercooked.

Stopped in with my 9 year old son after shopping. He went for the scones and we got a single, small scone that was more like a toasted tea cake and had raisins in, which he doesn’t like. I got a croque madame with poached egg but the egg was set. Disappointing and service was slow. Just one waitress for maybe thirty tables.

I was very impressed with Cafe Moka. I came when babysitting my friends son. He picked beans sausage and chips from the kids menu. I had a mushroom omelette and Saladin have been here before a couple of times with family and had found it to be very nice.Unfortunately when halfway through the lunch my friends so needed to visit the toilet, there is not one in the cafe, so we had to go into the Ashley Centre. I said where I was going, after a long while we returned to find the table had been cleared. I was very touched that we were offered to have our meals re- prepared, however having had most of the lunch we were given it on the house. This was very kind.

We are regular users of Moka in the Ashley Centre as a group of friends who meet for a coffee and a chat,great in the summer months but can get very cold in the winter. All in all a good place to meet.

Nice place, we had lunch here, drinks and food were very good, but because the seating is in the open part of the centre, it was fairly cold. But still worth a visit.

I used this cafe restaurant on several occasions and although over priced the food was nice. Took my four grandchildren for lunch before going to the cinema. 2 asked for spaghetti Bolognese the rest of us jacket potatoe with cheese and beans quick and simple!! Although not very busy, took a long time for the food to arrive. The spaghetti came first then the jacket potatoes and what a disappointment for us all. The potatoes were frozen in the middle and you could hardly see or taste any filling!! I told the young man who served us. He was very apologetic and took them back. Brought them back 5-10 mins later the same potatoes just warmed up on the same plates!! The potatoes were burnt from the outside and very dry as the filling wasn’t enough. The young man couldn’t apologise enough and promised to take the drinks off the bill and give me a discount on the whole. When I went to pay someone else came to the till. No discount!! I paid the full amount of £37 and had to buy my grandchildren a sandwich as they didn’t eat their lunch. Never ever go there again

My family has used this cafe on a regular basis over the years but no more, the combination of food quality and service has declined dramitcally, maybe it's complaceny given a prominent position and little obvious competition but my recent and final visist was simply awful. The service is bordering on rude, they got the order wrong (again), the bread served for both my own and my wifes sandwhich was stale whilst the coffee is lukewarm dishwater, I think they serve weaker coffee these days to save cost as it alaways used to be reliable. It's a shame as there are not many good places to eat in Epsom but from our recent experience, not just this most recent one, this place is truly awful and should be avoided.

Had lunch on 2nd Jan 2018. Waited ages to be served . No milk with the cup of tea, had to ask twice.

We, three of us, ate here for lunch. I ordered poached eggs, but received hard boiled eggs on toast...far too long in poacher! My other companions had reasonable dishes, burger and chips £10.50) and panini sandwich with crisps/salad (£7.95)but it was all far too expensive for what we received.

This cafe is in a prime position in the middle of the Ashley Centre and we called in for coffee. The menu and prices are clearly displayed on overhead boards, but we were rather surprised at how small a 'regular' cup of coffee proved to be. I think the size would pass for 'small' in other establishments and the cups were just over half full, even adding all the milk provided did not fill the cup. At £2.55 per cup this was very poor value and we concluded that they are rather trading on their position, plenty of empty seats would suggest that others have reached the same conclusion. We will not return, there are plenty of better cafes in Epsom.

I've been in here quite a few times but have officially given up now. The food and drink is really nice when you get it but the service is just terrible.

We had lunch- chicken panini and chicken bacon sandwich. Both were good. The red velvet cake was a little too dense but still tasty and we finished it off. Drinks were good.

Went for breakfast, the lady who served us was very rude and when food arrived was wrong. Was sorted, nice food. Decided to try again thinking it may have been a one off but again poor service, took ages to take order and then was rude again. Apparently didn't need to write our orders down,,half hour later still no food or drink, was asked order again, got up and left....it doesn't matter if your food is good if the service is lousy....disappointed

My fiancé and I visited on Saturday and we had a fabulous breakfast! The service was fantastic, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We were relatively early about 10.45 so perhaps that helped but still would go back!

They do good coffee with waitress/waiter service have not tried the food so cannot comment on that. Very noisy in the lower seating area making it difficult to sit and chat, prefer the Moka by the lifts.

My brother and sister in law said we should go here for breakfast and it did not disappoint.

Lived in Epsom 10 years, visited 5 years ago, staff incredibly rude. Thought would give it another shot for lunch yesterday. Instantly regretted. The only reason they get customers is the central location. Truly the rudest staff in town. Give a wide berth.

A pleasing range of breakfast choices on the menu. Freshly prepared and served quickly. Lots of seats available inside and ouside. A tasty range of desserts and pastries on offer too. No toilets in the cafe but the Ashley Centre toilets are nearby.

Had a quick snack lunch here before heading out to an evening party. Food was freshly cooked and came out well presented. Staff were friendly.

After a busy New Year's Eve with our children taking part in a pantomime at the nearby theatre we were ready for some food. Everywhere was busy and nowhere could accommodate 8 of us. Moka, however put 2 tables together and a lovely young man took our orders and our food was served quickly. We were very impressed by the healthy salads available and really ready for some healthy food after Christmas binge I had a 'small' ranch salad and it was quite sufficient and cost less than £7. The cafe was spotlessly clean and the staff smart and presentable as well as polite.

Visited moka for lunch today, I will not be returning. I ordered their "classic Caesar salad" which is so far from a Caesar salad. Even though the menu says it comes with cos lettuce leaves, it came with dry tasteless rocket. The Caesar dressing was so watery and tasted of just lemon juice and Parmesan. To then find a lemon pip in my salad was the final thing. My auntie ordered the spinach, farm house cheese and bacon sandwich which was bland, and the bacon was fatty putting her off her food. The iced coffee and milkshake were both too strong and we had to ask for them to be diluted. The service wasn't too good either with the waitress bring other tables drinks to our table and being asked our order twice, clearly lacking communication in here. Wouldn't recommended.

been there first time and dissapointed! ordered mozerella.tom pesto panini it came with cheddar cheese and tom panini there was no mozerella in it and no pesto. the cheese was so thin sliced no taste dry panini it was . the omelette i ordered came with small.amount of chips dryyy chipsss prices are way too expensivee the portions are small and tastless would not recommend this place... the best place in epsom is deffinetly cafe1 cheaper prices and such a delicious food they do

Whilst shopping in The Ashley Centre, and not being familiar with the layout, we chose the Cafe Moka for a cup of tea as it was in the vicinity of the shops we were looking in and it was disabled friendly. It is also handy for the toilets. The tea was hot and the the food looked good, although we were not eating there. However, the prices were quite steep and there was a 75p difference between drinking it there or taking it with us. The staff seemed very nice and we did quench our thirst.
