Mission Burrito in Reading

So these are fantastic burritos, nice toppings and the superb habanero hot sauce, yummy. Unfortunately there has been some serious shrinkflation going on and my last one was minuscule with a teaspoon of guacamole, delicious as it is. Please rectify as I don’t want to loose you!

Unfortunately the veggie burrito is not worth the money what so ever, £7.35 for a small one with a teaspoon of guacamole. Not enough flavor, poor choices, I don't recommend

Ordered a pork rice bowl, it was ok. Nothing about it was particularly tasty, the only real taste came from the hot sauce.

Best Mexican restaurant in town.

Service amazing (17.04.23 11.50). Good size portion with the rice plate (but I find that this depends on the person serving!) - tasty, full of flavour and just right. It's a shame seeing people being unreasonable with their reviews, giving 3 stars with no explanation and other silly comments that doesn't contribute to knowing what to expect at Mission Burrito. The guacamole here, is amazing. Enjoy.

The burrito was hugeeee! Burrito was good, but the tortillas got soggy really quick so every bite was messy as they tore apart really easily.

I nearly always have a medium burrito here, there doesn't seem to be much of a difference between a medium and a large so I stick with the medium. The staff are friendly and pay attention to questions. There's some tables for groups

First time visiting for a quick bit of lunch. Ordered a large chicken burrito but was disappointing. Burrito had far too much rice which was extremely bland and lacking any kind of flavour along with the chicken being mushy and tasteless. Also alot of little flies buzzing around inside the restaurant which is not nice when trying to eat. Staff we're not very friendly and constantly talking out loud in what sounded like polish. Definitely won't be coming back and can't recommend..

Food great normally, but they haven't had vegetables for months now. I can get veg in the supermarket so why can't they? No real excuse. The butternut chilli is not a good substitute.

At 5pm every day, a mariachi bursts through the doors and starts hurling ingredients at the customers. Additionally, he will repeatedly slam his guitar into the walls and tables before performing a riff and jumping into the river. Unfortunately I was not aware of this and I passed out.

I've been visiting Mission for lunches for years and the burritos and rice boxes are consistently really high quality. All the protein options are really tasty and the chipotle salsa is the best around. I find Mission much better than the other burrito chains I've tried around the UK, so I highly recommend it if you're into burritos!

Absolutely dreadful. Ordered thru deliveroo. Burrito was cold and much smaller than i have had before. £15 for a small cold burrito. Discusting cost cutting. Wont waste my money again

Can't beat a Mission Burrito for a delicious and reasonably priced meal. Their vegetarian options are great.

I have been going to and enjoying Mission Burrito for years, mainly at the Oxford location until relatively recently. Today I ordered a rice box and had the unfortunate surprise of undercooked courgette mixed into the fajita veggies, more courgette than anything else 🤢 I don't know when it was added to the recipe, times are hard so maybe it is cheaper per kilo than peppers? Completely inauthentic and not a good combination at all. If it is a cost saving exercise I would gladly pay a bit extra to avoid wasting all the courgette that went in the bin

Dry and bland, one of the worst pork burritos I've ever had. Chips and guac were nothing special but alright. I've always said "never had a terrible burrito" but guess I can no longer honestly say this.

Staff did great, my wife ordered a rice bowl and I ordered a burrito, the rice bowl, according to my wife, it was cold, we thought, next time we will not eat in, we will take it out, go home, heat the bowl and then enjoy eating it, as for me, yes it was cold too, and unfortunately, the burrito was like a tasteless food, although I tried to add some ingredients to get the rich taste, but, I didn't. So tomorrow I will try another burrito place, just to be fair and see how would the other burrito will taste. My wife asked for salt to add to her burrito bowl, but the staff said that they don't have any salt, Last time I had burritos in mission, it was tasty and had few bottles of sauces to adjust the taste accordingly, but that was during my last visit before covid-19

Not the biggest fan of Mexican (in the UK compared to US places) but this is one of the few places I'd recommend to anyone who is partial to Mex food. The meats are good and more importantly, the veg isn't soggy. Very important that !

Mission burrito has sadly gone done hill. It feels as though they are running down the lease ready to leave the building. The staff really don’t have any enthusiasm. We was served by a male with a man bun with dark hair, for him to make the burrito felt like pulling teeth, just didn’t want to be there and more focussed on dropping the sauce containers into the sauces and grabbing out with his bare hands - just bizarre. It was £35 for 4 burritos!! Go to one of the nicer and cheaper eateries around there.

I cannot belive I'm having to leave a bad review. My wife and I traveled from Basingstoke on Friday night to enjoy my favourite food, I've been coming to mission burrito since it opened some 8 years ago. After tonight I will not be going back. Stood at the counter and ignored for what felt like an entirely while one then two staff members made take away orders. In the end I said to my wife loudly. Shall we leave. Maybe thinking the staff would engage with us. I was just just flat out ignored and we left. Awful.

Ordered a borrito £8.85 with lots of fillings, didn’t receive all the fillings I asked for! I had to leave quickly after ordering due to baby bath time/bed time. Emailed customer service Sharon Rasmussen was extremely unhelpful and didn’t resolve the issue and then just didn’t reply my email/ poor customer service from Sharon Rasmussen £8.85 is not exactly cheap either! So disappointed with the customer service at mission burrito

Mission is the best burrito I've tried in the area. The quality is always consistent and very filling its definitely worth a visit if you want something quick fresh and different to you usual suspects

Ambience - Good. Modern and Spacious. Taste - Good. We ordered veg burrito and it was warm and delicious. Service - Good. They went an extra mile to cater our little one. Overall we enjoyed our meal time. Would recommend and revisit. 👍😁

Horrible experience. Both myself and my wife had hair in our burrito. Unlucky for me I didn't see it and ate it and the hair was stuck in my tooth. Disgusting. Worst experience ever. Probably the server had a hair cut and didn't wash their hair after. It is a shame. I felt sick all day. This used to be my favourite Mexican restaurant. I am never ever going back.

Awesome burrito! A really quick and convenient fast food chain that provides great food at a reasonable cost.

The best burrito I have had! The ordering is similar to subway, where you pick your wrap, ingredients, sauces etc., guacamole and cheese are extra but its around 30p. Variety of meat and veggie options. I recommend the butter squash burrito with jalapenos! Music and theme were on point, absolutely enjoyed it! I recieved a stamp card so one day I will have a free burrito!

i have been to Tortilla Reading and Mission Burrito, and this is definitely...the worst of the 2. Reasons: -the staff are not very welcoming; they definitely don't want to be there -Tortilla Reading has a better atmosphere, the burritos are slightly cheaper and you can get chorizo toppings! -All the import soft drinks are disgusting! -Basically Tortilla Reading is so much better... go there for your burritos instead. Chz :)

Tasty burrito and great quesadillas . Usually I stop to grab a burrito when in hurry, the service is really fast . I would prefer more meat rather than the beans and rice . Definitely give it a try

My favourite Mexican restaurant, unpretentious, healthy food. Fave dish is chili beef nachos. Good value too. Eat in, take away and Deliveroo.

Visited at 7.45 in Sunday evening to get a take away. Staff were obviously busy preparing delivery orders which is fine, but they completely ignored us. Stood at the counter for over 5 minutes without acknowledgement. Don't mind waiting if they are busy but to be ignored is not on. We were the only people waiting We left & went somewhere willing to sell us food.

Such a delicious Nacho bowl for a very reasonable price! My partner had their beef burrito and can confirm that was also delicious. Perfect for a quick bite to eat whilst shopping!

Wet taco and Burritos... Hard to eat, the ingredients are too wet and the base isn’t prepared properly.

It is the usual burrito shop where one can have ones burrito composed the way one likes it. But when I commented on how little meat they put in, I got a negative comment back, though a bit more was added. Cheese is apparently an extra. One has to pay for it. How cheap can they be. And they didn't offer me any sour cream. The food is good but the service doesn't lend itself to a pleasant experience. The extra money for cheese would have been a corporate decision though. Wrong decision!

The burrito 🌯 were awesome. I wish they had limes for an option to put on burrito ( I'm Mexican - I like that on my food ). One burrito was fulfilling. The person that took my order was nice and answered my questions without sounding annoyed. I get that with some places where I ask a question about their menu or food options and they looked annoyed. They even give you a card for when you order a certain amount of food from there, you'll get a new food....so that is nice.

First time several items missing which ruined our night but granted mistakes happen so I thought I'd give them another go. This past Sunday 26th we ordered again, 2 burritos bundles, extra chips and salsas, 2 jarritos drinks, over £33 order value. Order arrives and only has chips and half the salsas, no burritos or drinks. Get in contact and they resend missing items, another half an hour later get burritos that are poorly filled, wrong soda flavours and entirely BLACK guacamoles. I had 4 pots of guacamole all of which were darkened and smelling from day before guac which is instantly recognisable so I was appalled they sent these with our order, disrespectful to say the least and condescending, assuming the customer doesn't know what fresh avocados look and taste like. Absolutely I'll be taking my business to Tortilla or Chilango both of which have proven superior in food flavour (burritos fillings are generous and guac always fresh), as well as customer service which has declined absurdly in Mission Burrito.

Tasty burrito for the price - can only compare to chipotle; which is also another American chain but considering I’m not in Mexico, tasted pretty good

I had a carnitas burrito. It was very small, overpriced, and almost entirely filled with rice. The carnitas was bland and appeared to be stewed rather than braised as it should be. The tortilla appears to be store-bought and soggy. The burrito also wasn't grilled as mission burritos typically are. Having recently moved from San Francisco where the mission burrito originated, I'd say this is a poor approximation of a mission burrito.

I've been buying burritos pre-covid somewhat regularly there but the following happened earlier today and I just had to leave 5 stars review. Placed an order for collection and my friend left the note saying "If you do not shout praise the sun at me when I collect, then the meal is free" forgot all about it and on pick-up guys shouted the phrase, I didn't understand what exactly they shouted and it took me a short moment to remember the note! We all had a laugh and wished them a good day. Made my day, will definitely come back. Praise the sun \[T]/

Never fails. Best burrito anywhere. Shame about location

Unfortunately, really disappointed with this. Went in for a burrito and tacos for the family and the service was a little confused towards the end, not understanding my order for a plain tortilla and a tortilla with guacamole, despite me reading it word for word from the menu. My wife wanted some hot sauce and was never offered, when the burrito was wrapped, she asked for some and was warned rather condescendingly about how hot it is. When we finally ate the food, it was very very bland. Won't be returning.

Mainly had this place for takeaway during lockdown. It's simple, straightforward but good quality Mexican food that's reliable. Perfect for a quick, not too unhealthy bite to eat when you're about town or a lunch delivery at a busy day of work

One of my favourite places in Reading. Staff are always cheery, food is second to none. Always fresh and MEGA tasty. The extra hot sauce is just heavenly. Deffo give EVERYTHING on the menu a try. Wether it’s a Burrito, Taco, Ricebox or their Tortillas and Salsa..10/10 every time.

It wasn't too bad. The main comparison I have is against Chipotle. The burrito 🌯 here was nice but the sauce literally was going everywhere and made it quite a messy eat. Social distancing rules were being followed.

Was a busy lunch, they assemble the food as you order which is good, the wait isn't long. Standard burritos and k nachos, friendly staff at tills asked if we needed extra napkins as we are eating by the riverside. For the price its a large portion, first time trying, it's good.

Absolutely brilliant, both the food and the service. Lovely fresh veg excellent choice of meats, freshly warmed tortilla made into the best burritos you'll find in Reading. It manages it's pandemic measures very well too without ruining the experience. We're coming back

Food is reasonably priced and of excellent quality. I'd like to see a more extensive menu and eating in to be more pleasant (it's tiny and busy).

Fast food style layout. Staff are helpful. You choose your base then your toppings and then you are good to go. Fast service, so good if you are in a hurry. Food is tasty with a wide range of options. Next to the riverside, so sitting outside is the best option.

This is my second review of Mission Burrito but it is a disappointing one and supersedes my second ever trip advisor review. After venturing out after lockdown for the first time in 3 months and with Wahaca still closed, I settled for what I thought was going to be a satisfying Mexican delicacy. Instead I had the blandest burrito I have ever eaten and I would like to consider myself a burrito connoisseur. The rice and chicken were tasteless and both the beans and salad were soggy, due to the server failing to undertake their duty in draining the water effectively with the serving spoon. There was so much burrito water that I left a puddle and it splashed all over my Nikes. Very disappointing.

An excellent food choice for every time of the day. I've been a customer for 1.5 year now and this place never disappoints. Everything they serve apart from -obviously- pitas, are made in-store, fresh, every day, something that is definitely not the average for Britain. Living in Britain I'm sick and tired of pre-cooked and frozen, overpriced food. Even expensive chains still serve pre-cooked stuff. The proof? Your order arrives 10' after you place it. How long would a steak take to grill at home? 20-30mins? Why should a restaurant take less than that? This means it's pre-cooked. Mission Burrito definitely suffers from bad central management, they're doing their shops no favours for sure, however the Reading staff is always nice and helpful and keep the place sparkly clean, unlike many restaurants in Britain where hygiene is clearly not a priority. The country clearly has low hygiene standards and high tolerance to dirt, however Mission Burrito mainly employs mediterranean people, so they keep the place clean. Long story short, their food is ultra fresh, very well cooked, extrermely tasty, very very healthy, no fatty stuff there, or weird processed crappy ingredients. You can rest assured your money is well spent and your stomach will be happy. Management: give more credit to your staff, they fully deserve it!

I used to really enjoy visiting here. But sadly food quality has really taken a nose dive lately. I left half my order and doubt I will return.

We ate here on sunday lunch time. It wasnt too busy. The service wasnt great - my order was taken but the server still asked me multiple times what I wanted in my burrito. The burrito was really yummy. They refilled our water bottles which was great too.

Won’t have a bad word said about Mission Burrito. Top service and food every single time. You will not find friendlier staff anywhere else. Pricing is more than reasonable because you pay for quality not quantity. Well worth a visit. (Anyone comparing Mission Burrito to Taco Bell has definitely not visited either!)
