Went for the afternoon tea. The room is beautiful, the seating is comfortable, and the service is excellent. The tea was good and the food was amazing--you definitely get your money's worth with extra sandwiches and lots of desserts. Nice hot scones! I would recommend, and would return.

What a unique, artful and oh so tasty experience ! Our server was very helpful with making the tea selection ( you get to choose one with each course - 3 total! ) a truffle pistachio black tea was our favorite ! The tea sandwiches were delicious and paired well with a glass of champagne we ordered to start our experience 😊 save room for the artful mini cakes - amazing !!

We had the pleasure of experiencing afternoon tea at this gem of a place! It’s not the traditional afternoon tea experience but a more unique/contemporary one. The restaurant itself is genuinely beautiful and the service, so personalized! Our server Joanna was very knowledgeable. She recommended different tea pairings for each afternoon tea course and it made the service all the more wonderful. The food itself was aesthetically pleasing and delicious! The pastries were literally pieces of Art! We were hesitant to eat them. If other places are 5/5, afternoon tea at the Mirror room is a 6/5! 100% would recommend. Thank you Mirror Room for making our anniversary special and memorable.

Staff were clueless, wrong items brought to the table on multiple occasions. Rushed service, was brought a dirty fork and then brought another, even dirtier fork. I expect this kind of service at a cheap high st coffee shop but. Can think of about 8 better options within a 5 mile radius. Honestly embarrassing. Probably a bad day for them or something but I’d give 0 stars if that were an option.

We chose Rosewood for a family friendly, posh Afternoon Tea experience in London and we had an amazing time. The service, setting, and creativity sets this apart. In particular, the sweet courses are works of art. We also enjoyed the unique fillings in the sandwiches and the scones were A+. Our kids enjoyed the 'Rosewood Explorers' menu for GBP 50 per person which provided a selection of sandwiches with more traditional, kid-friendly fillings along with a generous portion of many of the same desserts that come with the regular menu. One note is the menu is a little confusing on the 'tea supplement' charge - to be clear: most of the teas are included in the fixed price; however there are a small number of 'premium' teas which have a supplemental charge of an additional GBP 19. Overall highly recommended if you're looking for a sublime Afternoon Tea in London!

The BEST afternoon tea in London. I was delivered an impeccable 5-star experience from start to finish at the Rosewood. Each sandwich was savory and beautifully presented, and the pastries (made in collaboration between Chef Mark Perkins and artist John Booth) were intricate works of art that were also melt-in-your-mouth good. With each course, my server, Francesco, provided perfect tea pairing recommendations, and the staff also supplemented the experience by sharing anecdotes about the origins of each tea strain and its significance. I look forward to coming back for tea very soon!

We had a reservation for 12:45 PM and we would need to vacate our seats by 3:00 PM. This two-hour time limit was not communicated to us upon arrival. We were relatively quick in eating our food, but towards the end, we were told that we only had 10 minutes left and were offered the option to move to the lounge. This made us feel quite uncomfortable. Additionally, we were asked about refilling our tea only once during the entire service. It seemed that the staff treated us as though we were children, possibly due to our youthful appearance, but we are almost 40 years old… This attitude was condescending and disappointing, especially given the high-end nature of the establishment.

The atmosphere and service were impeccable. The best you could imagine. We went for the Masters of Art tea time and it was very disappointing. The food, not the presentation; the presentation was delightful. Each sandwich tasted awful. The teas were fine. The scones fine. But the expensive art pieces were just okay. Could find a better tea time anywhere, though not with this type of extraordinary ambiance and service.

This is our fourth family visit to the Rosewood hotel, 24th to 27th May. Each time we dined for breakfast in The Mirror Room. This is an elegant and stunning room and the perfect setting to start the day. Each day you are met by a wonderful smiling hostess who takes you to one of the many fantastic dinning settings within this room. We enjoyed breakfast in The Mirror Room on each of our three day stay and enjoyed a mixture of Full English breakfast, berries with natural yogurt, pancake stack, eggs and variety of ways on my choice of sourdough toast, omelettes, waffle with fresh berries, Chinese breakfast of dumplings and noodles along with the most amazing pastries. But what makes this room are the staff, when you are away from home starting the day of right is important, the greeting of the hostess was always brilliant and each and every waiter was outstanding, the staff are always immaculate in the presentation and nothing is too much trouble for anyone. All of the staff are so professional and caring in their approach but with a fantastic personal touch which is so hard to find in London. From my family to all of the staff in The Mirror Room including the chefs and back of house team I want to say thank you for looking after my family and making our stay so amazing by starting our days of so well with that wow factor. Came here for afternoon tea. It was something we had to do while visiting London and we chose this place for the atmosphere and unique art approach. We didn’t eat lunch and had a 3pm tea. We showed up hungry and were full after the second course. But that was fine for us. The sandwiches and scones were the best part. The desserts while pretty were way too sweet and large. Too many chocolate based desserts. If you want to do a tea this is a great one! Nice atmosphere and kind staff.

The mirror room is a beautiful luxury place inside the famous Rosewood hotel. They propose a high-end afternoon tea made of many (nearly too many) original pastries, salty and sweet, most of them really good. The service is of course very professional, but a little obsequious. The reasons why I give a 4 and not a 5: our waiter took away our bottles of water before they were empty (something like 10-15% left) obliging us to buy more, and I found the quantity of tea not sufficient (you probably have to re-order to get more, but no one even proposed that).

The Rosewood Hotel's tenth anniversary reminded me that I've long wanted to try out their high tea in the in-house salon. The 'Mirror Room' is housed in the side wing of the four-wing, neo-baroque building, whose origins date back to 1912. It is très chic and decorated in warm tones and creates a very pleasant atmosphere. The 'Afternoon Tea' there was inspired by artists such as Salvador Dalí, Vincent van Gogh, David Hockney and Yayoi Kusama and you should take enough time to enjoy it. Almost everything tasted absolutely delicious (especially the 'Petit Brioche' with truffled egg farce is amazing!); I personally found the scones to be too dry and crumbly. To accompany the various courses, the sophisticated teas from 'Mariage Frères' and the finely sparkling champagne from 'Ruinart' were served - always a sure bet! But special praise goes to the charming crew, who accompanied the event with a lot of warmth. Bravo! 🥂

Afternoon tea here looked promising, the idea of a theme isn't new, sadly the arts tea, despite the high price didn't include tea, that was £19 extra, some of the art cakes needed to be cut in half to share, I'm not a tea drinker and I mentioned that, but it was ignored, I drank 1 cup basically £19 for that, service was unprofessional for a hotel of this standard... I think it's back to the Shard, where you have the view, or Claridges, or anywhere else but here.

I chose this place because it is located in the beautiful Rosewood Hotel and I thought it would be amazing. Dont get me wrong, its good but nothing that knocked me out as I was expecting. Nice setting and good service. Great selection of teas and limited quantity of sandwiches but they offer to refill if needed. They had a nice touch because they brought me a special little B’day cake (my birthday was 2 days before and they ask for your date of birth when booking, I didnt specify it). Maybe I will try to hace some traditional ones like Lemon Drizzle, Battenburg Cake, Victoria Sponge, Bakewell tart or my favourite Golden Syrup Pudding. A mixture of traditional and new would be more balanced. The best for me were the scones and jam…really well made, delicious jam, clotted cream and lemon curd. A bit small but one of the best I have tried so far. The hotel is so beautiful that it is 100% worth going and I loved my experience but I wouldnt go back again because of how much chocolate they use.

Can it be more disappointing? I went to Rosewood with my husband, sister and brother in law. I had such high hopes for the afternoon tea at Rosewood only to be utterly disappointed. The afternoon tea consisted on 3 courses, namely 1) sandwiches; 2) scones & pre-dessert: 3) Dessert. We ordered at around 12:15pm and the first course was served at 12:25pm. And this was when things started going downhill, as one of the sandwiches was missing. And then the server spilled tea all over the table as they collected the teapots. We finished the sandwiches rather quickly but the second course only came at 1:14pm. And we had to wait for the new pot of tea. The last course arrived at 1:49pm. At around 2:10pm, they came to say they need the table back in 10 minutes (when we have not even started eating the last course), as the afternoon tea was supposed to last for 2 hours (claiming that they expected us to have already left at 2pm - even though the last course came only at 1:49pm, it’s obviously our fault that we were so slow). Eventually we were evicted to the bar on the side with terribly uncomfortable chairs. If they need the table back at 2pm, they should have let us know in advance and they should surely have brought us the food and tea more quickly to avoid all the idling time in between. Just as you thought it cannot get any worse, when we left and my sister tried to collect her coat from the cloakroom, the staff said they cannot find it. My sister had to get into the cloakroom to search for it herself only to find that her coat was lying on the floor, and the staff didn’t even bother apologizing. If you wonder about the food, it’s alright. All in all, 5 star hotel with 1 star service. It was absolutely a letdown.

The Art Afternoon Tea at The Mirror Room was, in my opinion, one of the finest afternoon tea experiences. It offered an impressive selection of rare teas, artistic food presentations, and a classy ambiance, all housed within Rosewood London. Chef Mark Perkins deserves kudos for infusing his artistic talent into the delectable pastries. It's no surprise that Mirror Room is acclaimed as the best contemporary afternoon tea in the UK. Our server, whose name I unfortunately forgot, was excellent. He provided detailed explanations about the teas' origins and suggested superb food pairings. Beyond the appealing aesthetics, the food tasted exceptional. Having traveled from the US to London for a memorable birthday celebration, I have no regrets choosing this venue. While it may be pricier compared to other afternoon teas in the area, I can confidently say it's worth every penny. I highly recommend the Mirror Room for a truly phenomenal experience.

First afternoon tea experience in London (and also celebrating our wedding anniversary), and among all the options we decided on Art Afternoon Tea at the Rosewood. It's a super classy, truly aesthetically pleasing experience, both in terms of the decor/ambiance and the food. Sandwiches and pastries were good (some looked better than they tasted admittedly), but the teas were wonderful. The mini-cake for our anniversary was so impressive that I almost felt bad eating it! Service was a bit inconsistent, as there were times when it was difficult to get the attention of a host/hostess, but one young lady (unfortunately didn't catch her name, but she mentioned she was from Fulham after we told her we were attending the Tottenham-Fulham match) was incredibly attentive, explained all the teas to us, and gave great recommendations. Generally an exceptional afternoon tea experience, and worth the stop!

AVOID especially if you have allergies, the staff does not have the appropriate training. Our afternoon tea experience turned into disaster as the first course contained nuts and my partner had to be rushed to the hospital with a severe anaphylactic shock. Upon arrival we reminded the staff of his allergies, and we got very confident responses that everything would be taken care of. When the first course arrived, they once again mentioned that my partner's food was free of his allergens. He trusted them and took a bite and instantly felt something was wrong. He asked the waiter what exactly was within the sandwich, and the waiter responded "Beetroot and chest... Let me check with the chef". The staff took an extremely long amount of time to come back to us with an answer, they were all talking amongst themselves without an update for us, meanwhile we were already looking to see which hospital was nearby. When they came back they said "The sandwich contains beetroot and chestnuts, which you will note is not a nut." To which we responded that chestnuts were absolutely a nut and he was clearly having an allergic reaction. We left with no apology from the staff, in fact the rest of the party at our table told us that staff were still arguing that they did nothing wrong. I would argue that serving nut to someone who is deadly allergic to nuts is, in fact, gross negligence. They did not even come to clarify at the start of the meal whether chestnuts were okay for him.
Opportune Simon . 2023-12-11
MORE AT Google
The kitchen was informed that a member of our party was deathly allergic to nuts, and 3 members of staff acknowledged his allergy and assured us that there would be no nuts in his food. They proceeded to feed him a sandwich filled with chestnuts, which immediately triggered his life threatening allergic reaction. When we confronted the staff to ask about whether the sandwich had nuts, they took over 10 minutes to find out the ingredients, before informing us that there were indeed chestnuts in the sandwich. They claimed that their pastry chef believes that chestnuts are not part of the nut group, and refused to apologise or admit any guilt. He was rushed to the UCH hospital where he had to stay for the whole day. Thankfully he had his epipen on him, which stopped his throat from closing up on the way to the hospital. The staff at the Mirror Room maintain no guilt, and claim that chestnuts are not part of the nut allergy group. This is completely unacceptable and I worry they will continue to poison people due to their ignorance.

Sandwiches were fine as well nothing special nor what I’d expect from this place. We are very regular customers and have been staying and dining at the hotel for several years. Usually we enjoy afternoon tea and I used to think it was quite good value compared to other 5* hotels in London. I booked afternoon tea having not gone for some time. I wish I had checked the prices as the cost of the afternoon tea is now absolutely insane. I actually feel a little upset to have discovered how much we paid today. Firstly we noted that the quality has significantly decreased. The sandwiches and scones are still good (the staff seem a little meaner when offering extra sandwiches compared to in the past). However, the cakes weren’t very high quality. They were all stodgy sponge-like cakes with very amateur-looking icing - it was almost funny how basic they looked. They all tasted pretty similar. I like yuzu but it was used in every other cake! The cakes tasted cheap and weren’t very creative compared to the past cakes. I won’t be having afternoon tea in the Mirror Room again as despite being wealthy, the prices are just ridiculous, especially after the very noticeable decline in quality. There is no way afternoon tea should cost that much. It’s a shame as the room is lovely and the tea selection is great as are the sandwiches. They also wanted to charge £50 I believe for my 4 year old who ate 1.5 finger sandwiches and two mouthfuls of cake! Thankfully they did agree to let him share ours after checking with someone more senior. In the past it has been no extra cost for very young children. The service was fairly good but not very warm. I’m not surprised that the restaurant was almost empty at the time (my husband had just told me that he overheard some hotel guests discussing the shocking price increase for afternoon tea and saying they would go elsewhere after I told him what we paid today). It’s such a shame a once truly luxurious hotel that did everything perfectly is squeezing customers so hard and not delivering in terms of quality. We also drank in the bar shortly after and it was pretty average with decent service. The new cocktail menu isn’t very interesting and frankly, it sucks compared with the old one which featured 3 blind mice, bubble and shrubs, sipping with Churchill etc. This was our favourite hotel but I’m not sure I want to return sadly…

We had afternoon tea at The Claridge,The Langham,The Mandarin Oriental,Fortnum&Mason, Harrod's But...The afternoon tea at The Rosewood is the one we will remember for ever. Top quality service and the best scones ever. The themed afternoon tea for David Hockney was heaven. Thank You

The service was very good. It was the first time we had afternoon tea and the servers took the time to explain. The food was average.

I did mention that we were celebrating birthday when I confirmed the reservation but nothing was done nor a single wishes was made. Kudos to the chef for the creativity of the desserts and the interior designer for the effort on making the venue Hockneyfied.

This might be a good tea for you if you like very sweet/complicated/fruity flavors. I didn’t like any of the desserts and I thought the sandwiches were only OK. Scones were excellent. My friend was lactose intolerant and they were able to accommodate, but the lactose free scones were unfortunately awful. Atmosphere is nice but the food is just not good enough to recommend this tea.

They shouldn’t be advertising they are a great breakfast place etc, they reserve for hotel guests only and they should make it clear before folks travel to be there.

This was the worst experience while my 2-week trip to London. The service wasn’t just horrible, it didn’t exist. Our server left without letting us know, and another waitress just kept ignoring us. We were left without tea for an hour. No apology or acknowledgment from anyone at this place. The sandwiches were ok, but the deserts were not tasty at all. On top of that, we were given one portion of desserts to split. What if you attend this tea ceremony with someone you do not want to share your food with? This is just bizarre. You literally need to cut your dessert in half and split it with another person. Who thought of that. After such an abysmal experience I felt robbed. I wouldn’t pay for this food and “service”. DO NOT GO THERE!

The cakes are amazing they are a peace of art, but it’s to much sweetness in a meal, I think you could improve your menu if balance more between salt/sweet offer!

Booked an afternoon tea for my son and myself while we were visiting London. Rosewood is a lovely hotel but our afternoon tea experience was not great. The food was not very tasty and the portions were ridiculous. You are usually asked to be re-served with more of the sandwiches you lived if you wished, but we were almost hurried out of the restaurant while the place was nearly empty. Both my son and I were very disappointed, and I cannot believe how much we had to pay. We have enjoyed afternoon teas at the Grosvenor house and Savoy much more.

I LOVED this hotel!!!! We went to 3 high end afternoon teas and this was our favorite!! The hot tea is great - this hotel serves Paris's Mariage Freres teas!!! French tea brand versus English. I fell in love with Mariage Freres tea and went to convent station tea shop afterwards and bought 6 boxes. I am a big fan now!!! The tea was served right. I thought the Rosewood Hotel served the tea itself right/the best. The servers were knowledgeable about the teas and very helpful!! The tea was steeped properly and tasted delicious!!! Chai was our favorite!!!! The mini lobster crab roll with caviar was our favorite tea sandwich! Special! I liked the chocolate chip cake and the cakes were beautiful. Overall I gave this afternoon tea a 10 and would highly recommend and come back. The room is beautiful. The hotel has a nice ambiance. A fun extra is bowls of candy in the lobby.

10/10 experience. This was an exceptional Afternoon Tea experience. Dare I say this was better than Fortnum + Mason. The pace of the experience was perfect. The pricing was aligned with everything we experienced. The service was extraordinary. We will be recommending everyone who visits London to come here for an Afternoon Tea experience. My husband and I will also be staying here when we return to London.

Wonderfully classy afternoon spot. We were very underdressed and the staff didn’t seem to mind. Long list of teas to choose from and the food left us in awe. Expensive, but worth every penny! Eat a light lunch, not a large meal but it does sneak up on you. Will plan on an afternoon here anytime I find myself in London.

Great service, sandwiches are nice; pastries a bit overly sweet. Good tea selection. I think they had a busy breakfast service as carpet was full with bread crumbs. We experienced a bit of delay between savory and sweet-but it happens;

Outstanding experience thanks to the high quality of food and to the impeccable service of the friendly staff. They were extremely knowledgeable, genuinely warm, never intrusive. The quality of sandwiches is higher , compared to other Afternoon Tea in 5 stars hotels , they were more sophisticated, we loved the lobster sandwich. The ambient is very cosy, extremely quiet and relaxing . The selection of the tea is superlative. We came yesterday for the mother's day , as we celebrate it in May in Italy. They prepared a nice surprise for my mother, a lovely cube of chocolate cake inspired by Banski , small candle and the writing with chocolate topping. My mom was so excited and pleased by this kind of attention. It was a best Afternoon Tea ever in London over 7 years. We will definitely come back again.

We had booked a table for 8 of us at 5.30 on a Friday evening after work. We arrived around 5.45 to find that all of the lights were off. We told them we had a booking and the member of staff told us they were closed. After some negotiation the lights were turned on and we were seated. A short while later the waiter came back and told us he had spoken to his manager and they were closed. We asked how long until they would open, would it be 1 hour, 2 hours? He said that he didn't know and it was up to his manager. He then suggested we leave and told us there is a similar restaurant down the road. Never before have I had a restaurant recommend we go to a competitor. This caused one of our party to cry, and he only stopped when we promised to buy him a balloon (he's not a child, he just really loves balloons). We walked back past Da Beppe (the same one that was closed) around 10 minutes later to find the staff member serving wine to a table. We were obviously confused so asked why the restaurant was now open when we were only just told it was closed. We were then invited back inside but fearing for our safety, we declined. We then went to Zizzi's by Goodge Street station. If you are looking for a restaurant that is open and serves authentic Italian food justa like mama used to make, I recommend you go there. 4.2 stars.
