The starter calamari is very good And the rump steak is just prefect, it is a very good restaurant I can say.

Went for lunch today, the lunch menu is comprehensive and inexpensive. Wide choice of dishes. Our food was excellent and so was our server Katie.

We dine at Miller & Carter Wheathampstead whenever we want top quality steak & great service. Tonight was no exception. We have tried almost all the different steak options. All delicious. This evening we ordered Filet mignon and the 50 day aged sirloin steak. Absolutely delicious and served exactly as we requested. Our waitress Keely was friendly, welcoming and attentive. From the moment we entered the restaurant we were attended to impeccably. Highly recommend. Thank you. We will be back very soon

We had a wonderful evening celebrating our son's birthday; the service was excellent, particularly for Katie, who made such a fuss of Oliver and the whole family. The food was excellent, with great flavours, the plates were warm, and everything was cooked well. The management should be proud of their team. As a chef, I was really surprised at the level of excellence we experienced at Miller & Carter, Wheathampstead.

We (3 friends) have been meeting here for lunch on several occasions over the last few years, and find the experience generally satisfactory. However, the standard of the food was disappointingly below par on this occasion. The mushroom starter consisted of tired mushrooms in a claggy cheese sauce, with the advertised spinach sauce consisting of a couple of leaves underneath. The fish was overcooked and dry, as though it had been left sitting in a worm place for a long while. The chips were underdone on the insides. The 'mushy peas' were a stiff lump of green. Not good enough.

Came here with my mum and my son earlier and the food was lovely, decent price too. Keely our waitress was excellent, made sure we had what we wanted and always had a nice smile, first class, we'll definitely be back. 5 stars

We were required to leave the restaurant prior to our booking and get cash from the local co-op as there was a national issue relating to Barclays bank. An automated text sent out to all customers could have avoided the stress of this as this was a well known issue before our appointment time. Lack of customer service!!! Very disappointed in our table waitress who only appeared a few times during the whole evening, once to take the drinks order and then to take the main. Then she came back to clear the table but she left it in such a state that we couldn’t put our arms back down it. We waited 15mins for a return visit but she didn’t reappear so my wife asked the manager to send someone else over to do it, which they did, begrudgingly! It was at that point we decided that the service and quality of food was so poor, we’d ordered a Chateaubriand which was so disappointing in size that neither of felt like we’d eaten much and as such decided to call it a day and skip desert. 🏜️ This was supposed to be a treat evening out as i was having surgery the following week but due to the lack of service ,the quality of food and the issues with it being cash only which we only found out about when we arrived. The whole evening turned out to be an unenjoyable waste of money. This is not the first time we have been let down by the service at this restaurant and judging by the subsequent feedback we’ve been given from friends seems to be an ongoing issue which needs addressing. The chances of us revisiting this restaurant are now slim as we have received far better service at other M & C venues within the area.

Can not express enough how amazing our experience was, me and my partner had been many times, but we wanted to take my mother and father in-laws for ther first time, they where amazed by the food but most of all the experience given by the waitress Katie, she was perfect and made everyone laugh, 10/10 for her! They can't wait to come back.

We came for a birthday meal on Sunday. Was seated by Dave with a drinks order taken quickly. All food and drinks were enjoyed by all. The cocktails were amazing !! Julie was our waitress and was welcoming and very friendly and even bought out a lovely birthday plate for the birthday girl. Thank you.

We love M&C so it’s our go to place for special occasions. We brought our parents as it’s was one of their birthdays, their first time. The service was a bit slow but it was busy and that was fine as we were happy to wait. Everybody’s food was amazing except my mums - her steak was undercooked but once I brought it to the attention of our waitress it was sorted promptly.

Went to Miller & Carter Wheathampstead, for Father's Day meal. Great atmosphere, it was very busy, so pleasantly surprised how quickly the food came out. Lovely cocktails, good food. Definitely recommend the ribs & the espresso Martini.

A great evening with friends enjoying good food , service and ambiance. Don’t forget to register your car registration if using their car park. I did and was impressed by the efficiency of manager Dave in sorting it out a couple of weeks later. Will definitely be back.

The food wasn't as good as the milton keynes or Rickmansworth branch, but still lovely. Took about 15 minutes to wait for my swcond cocktail which was a shame but overall lovely. Nicola who served us was amazing, I had witnessed another customer speak to her like absolute crap, ate all her food got the manager who then heavily discounted her meal. (Proper Karen who needs to understand it's not the waitresses fault if you don't like your food & NOBODY deserves to be spoken to like crap) but Nicola was funny, kind & working her socks off doing a 12 hour shift. We actually went over to Tesco as had no cash and dropped her back in a £10 tip. Asset to the branch 💯

Had the half of chicken and chorizo and what came was a chicken thigh and a chicken wing no breast and wasn't half a chicken just cheapest bits of chicken paid over £20 it was shocking

Impromptu Sunday meal. Lovely food. Belinda was our waitress who very friendly and helpful. Only thing was we were all quite cold. I know it’s an old building but it was cold and draughty.

Such a shame. My parents visited Wheathampstead last night for a special meal that I purchased for them. The food was incredible, however the service was terrible. They were seated in an area of the restaurant that was freezing. They asked on several occasions if they could move tables as they were both having to sit and eat in their coats. They were told there was no additional heaters, and they would not move them, despite another large table complaining and them being moved. The draft and cold was so bad they were freezing the entire meal and left as quickly as possible. All tables in the area were wearing coats to eat. They then politely mentioned to a third member of staff on the way out who was a manager and not even so much as an apology on their exit after spending over £120 on food. What a way to ruin their special night.

Had a 30th with 15 guests & the service was superb! Huge thanks to Belinda who was beyond helpful with the set up & arranging the candles & cake topper for me. The service was brilliant, definitely recommend, especially for a special occasion!

Always have a good meal at this restaurant, so much so that we actively choose to go here despite there being a closer Miller & Carter to our home. The choice is excellent and of all the sides and steaks we’ve experienced, we are rarely disappointed by this chain but never by this branch in wheathampstead, add to this our recent visit and excellent host Belinda, we will be visiting more often.

I usually go to the Miller & Carter in Stevenage but came here for my birthday for a change as it is a bit closer to where I live. From start to finish I was very impressed with the service, food, and atmosphere. When I arrived, the lady who showed us to our table wished me a happy birthday. Then Belinda looked after us throughout our meal and she was very attentive, friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. I even got a little sweet treat for my birthday which I particularly appreciated! The food is excellent and I will definitely be returning to the Miller & Carter in Wheathampstead from now on. My partner and I visit here regularly because we have never had a bad meal, the steak is always cooked to perfection, the drinks are lovely and the service is amazing. We are usually looked after by Claire, who we cannot rave enough about! She’s an absolute delight! We’ll see you again soon I’m sure!

Way overpriced food. Upon arrival went to the bar, the young lad eventually acknowledged my presence, then disappeared. Stood there for 10 minutes, with several members of staff just walking past, not even asking if I was being served. The lad reappeared and took my order, which was the plant-based burger. When I was ordering, I ordered the burger with fries and leafy salad. When the food arrived, no salad. When enquired, turned out that the wording in the menu “with either fries or grains and a leafy salad”, meant “either fries, or grains, or salad”. Not clear from the menu. But when brought up with 2 members of staff, neither seemed sure what exactly was meant in the menu, but ok, agreed it was a choice between the 3, even though I feel the wording on the menu is misleading. The lad who delivered the food, didn’t ask whether any condiments were wanted, had to ask for ketchup for the fries. The burger was supposed to have “smashed avocado” in it, but got a measly slice of avocado, with brown bits on it (as per the photos). At no point had anyone come over to ask how the food was. As for the “pickled red onions” - gross; those onions have been pickled for a loooong time - just slimey and slushy. Tried 2 pieces, 5 minutes apart, just to be sure. I pickle red onions at home, so do know what they should taste like. No crunch - just old mush. The staff seem fed up and disinterested. Not their fault 💚 Personally, I’d feel down working in a place like that too. £17 for that plate of food is a robbery. A decent joint for a drink, but they seem to look after groups with more much interest, so if you are a solitary visitor, and want food, I do not recommend.

My husband and I had our Christmas dinner at the Miller and Carter Wheathampstead having had it there three years ago (back then, it was excellent)…..this year…not as good. The service by Keelly and the team was excellent, unfortunately we were sat right at the back, in a corner by the fire escape door which wasn’t the best seating area, we felt “out of the way” and there was zero atmosphere - last time we were in a lovely, cosy booth. I had requested a waterside view, we could see the water, but through the fire escape window…..No Christmas music, which was unfortunate… The food was nice, okay…. didn’t blow us away…it all tasted good…my prawn starter was cold…the main was nice, roast potatoes a little bit burnt..dessert was good. Overall okay, but we’ve had much better pub roast dinners on your average Sunday. My husband commented that last time, the turkey dinner was more traditional I.e turkey breast, stuffing on the side, this year, it was a tiny amount (1 piece) wrapped around a little stuffing…he also had two potatoes halves…so technically, 1 potato. We didn’t expect massive portions…but would we say it was worth £95…no….would we do it again at Miller and Carter…probably not. Totally understand prices have gone up all over the place…but don’t think it was good value. Not the way it was advertised which was a real shame. It didn’t ruin the day…but left us feeling a little bit underwhelmed.
