Mostly great. Our first visit. There is a step that we never saw and my friend fell all his length. He was pointed to where we were sitting and not warned about the step. As he was distracted and focused on us he fell. Food and service excellent otherwise.

Fabulous food served here. Great choices for steaks . Opted for the set menu which itself has many options plus an attractive price. The service could not be faulted . All the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. If you are a lager drinker then the choice is also good . You'd be hard pushed to find a better restaurant in the area.

This was our first visit and I don't know why it's taken us so long! Making the booking was straightforward, although I did worry as I hadn't added in the menu we were eating from (Rare Treat) I did try & call to confirm, but couldn't get through. I had asked for a quiet corner or the restaurant, and we were seated in a perfect spot at the back. Upon arrival we were made to feel welcome & the over all feels was of elegance & luxury. The Rare Treat menu was outstanding value & each dish was presented beautifully. Our steaks were cooked exactly to our preference & the flavour was amazing, so much so that we did not use the steak sauce (we used it for our chips!) Deserts looked too good to eat, but we did! Again delicious. The staff were friendly, attentive but not intrusive and very professional. My husband & I kept saying how wonderful everything was & to be honest we didn't want it to end. Over all it has to be one of the best steaks we have had and we will, without a doubt be back.....sooner rather than later! Thank you so much to all the staff for a lovely Saturday afternoon treat.

Excellent steak, poor variety of alcoholic drinks ..: In the capital of Scotland yet offering only 3-4 lower end single malts …

The service was really poor, we had empty plates sitting on our table for over 25 minutes, while numerous staff seemed to be just hanging about. Also we were never asked if we would like any more drinks we physically had to leave our table to get drinks ordered. The service in Glasgow is far superior on every level. My wife's desert also arrived after I had finished mine very poor service overall from edinburgh when you go out as a couple you expect to eat 'together' not at separate times. The steak was also overcooked but we had waited long enough so didn't want to sent ot back for more of a wait!

Nice steak, cooked perfectly. Not ripped off with drink prices - although they took a while in getting to the table. Really enjoyed it and look forward to returning.

We've come to another branch In Aberdeen and enjoyed their Martinis. Went for a meal in Edinburgh, fillet was perfectly cooked but meat wasn't as tender, it came with a strange block of fried onions, neither tasty nor helped the plate of Fillet, was weird mid chewy and hard at the same time, especially when cold. Had the rack of ribs, slow cooked till tender then lathered with bbq sauce, nothing special. The lobster tail was quite tasty and well cooked. We'll be back for drinks and perhaps try other dishes, but was disappointed with this meal.

Attended and was served by Michael on the 25th of January 25 and had an excellent visit. Our waiter was very attentive and couldn't have asked for more. We'll be back again.

We went on Hogmonay and had a great meal with plenty of atmosphere. Good food and drink a bit pricey but its Hogmonay.

We never got in. We arrived could see there were spaces but was told by someone at front of house that one of his servers was leaving therefore we couldn't go in. Not just us but the couple in front of us as well. They lost money that night. Also it was our wedding anniversary. All in all a big disappointment.

We had the signature experience for two persons. Great steak, very tender and flavourful. Service by Inaki/inagi was fantastic, thank you for your food/drink recommendations. We had a wonderful dinner.

Food was excellent, server was excellent. The deposit required to book the table was a pain and was not deducted from the final bill so I have contacted corporate to have it refunded. Hopefully this will be resolved sooner rather than later otherwise it would put me off returning..

Our first visit to the Edinburgh branch. Food good, as expected, not cheap, but we knew that too. The downside was the slow service. We had a wait after finishing mains before the table was cleared and a long wait after receiving the bill. Possibly short staffed but no explanation was offered. We will go back but the slow service took the edge off this visit. Also note - the 'brownie' is actually a rather heavy chocolate fudge cake, nothing like a brownie.

Exceptional. The Rare Treats menu is absolutely delicious, plentiful and great value.

Walk into an experience where you only get served when a fake phone, cheap device they give you flashes red as if we still live in some sort of Covid time. Then serve you a steak you can cook better yourself and charge you over £90 for that main for 2 people. This is the burger King for steaks. Never waste your time on this place. £90 down the drain.

Went to miller and carter today as a Christmas gift from son and daughter we were served by Marek who was attentive and professional the whole way through the meal itself was superb I had rack of ribs and my wife had the lamb both dishes were very very tasty and cooked to our specifications it is a bit more expensive but could not fault any aspect of delivery and service and Marek deserves a special mention for his attention to detail.

Went for a meal for my anniversary after a recommendation from my son, I wasn't disappointed,.it was amazing from service to food quality, lovely place to go and will be back

Four of us had dinner on New Year’s Eve (Hogmanay) and we had a great experience. The food was delicious from a good menu , the service was excellent,our waitress was brilliant and to cap it all we were able to be with all the staff at the bells. We will be coming back again for more.

Outstanding food , ambience and service

Our visit was one of the most awful dining experiences we have had. We booked to celebrate our son’s birthday but when we made our choices from the menu there were no T-bone steaks, bone marrow sides, chef’s signature dish and another dish we chose. We told our waitress we were unhappy and would speak to the manager when we left. Subsequently your manager Chris arrived before we had had dinner and told us they were very busy over the Christmas and New Year period and these things happen. He then said we were obviously not happy and suggested we may like to leave. I told this gentleman that we were not leaving as we had pre booked, paid a deposit and it would be difficult to find another restaurant at that time for a birthday celebration. Your manager’s attitude was appalling!! We had dinner but the whole birthday celebration was spoiled because we could not get the food we wanted but more importantly your manager’s attitude. To add insult to injury when the bill was produced for us it was incorrect as your staff had omitted to deduct the £15 deposit paid. All in all a shocking experience. As someone who had in the past worked in hospitality in a four star hotel your manager needs to be trained on how to deal with customers.

Excellent food and service plus the surroundings in Frederick street are lovely. Another plus for me is the tables aren’t too close together unlike some other restaurants.

Nice restaurant located in the centre of Edinburgh. Great selection of meats on offer and nice wines and cocktails, etc. Staff are friendly and attentative. We enjoyed the butchers block, which was tasty and cooked as we like. The only complaint is it could have been warmer, not a big issue for us, but it would be for those who enjoy their food 'piping hot'.

The service, dinner and drinks were all excellent. We had the 28oz cote de beouf dinner for two which we thought was an incredible bargain. We were going to order an appetizer and our waiter suggested we don't simply because its an amazing amount of food, and it was! We finished the night with the creme brulee and espresso martinis. An absolutely fabulous end to our week in Edinburgh.

Food and service great as always. Iwaki was our server, he was amazing. Our favourite restaurant for a family treat as the atmosphere and food is happy, busy and great quality.

Xmas dinner was horrendous for,£90 a head .Expected more .Very small portions,rushed through courses ,cheesecake was very stale tasting .Very disappointed!!!

Restaurant with a spacious lounge and beautiful, modern decoration. Perfect attention from reception to departure. And the food was great.

My boyfriend and I were looking forward to coming to M&C for our traditional Xmas dinner because last year ir was absolutely fab! This year however, we were left disappointed. Our reservation was booked for 18:45 and when we arrived we were told that they were extremely busy and would have to wait for our table. We were not seated until 19:20. Fine, I understand, no problem. The main problem was the food. While my fillet was nice (a bit cold and wee bit chewey for a fillet cut, which is supposed to be the most tender cut), my boyfriend’s wasn’t. He ordered the ribeye and arrived cold. It was also full of tendons and quite chewey, he did not enjoy it at all and left more than half of it. For a steakhouse like M&C I would’ve expected quality ribeye, this absolutely wasn’t. The “sautéed vegetables” that came with it where more like boiled green beans and peas. Quite disappointing as well. We did complain about all of this to our waitress who could only apologise. Then for the pudding I ordered the Xmas pudding and it was more like a pile of baked raisins! Not even kidding it was like 90% raisins, didn’t even eat half of it. I also ordered the Beyond the Pale cocktail. Absolutely disgusting. Quite bitter, quite strong, as if the bar doesn’t taste their own drinks because how could they even approve something like that? Not even joking when I tell you it’s one ot the worst cocktails I’ve ever tasted. We left extremely disappointed, this was not the magical night we were hoping and that we experienced last year. For a meal worth £145 for two people, this is absolutely NOT worth it. At the very least I would’ve expected an okay meal. This was way below the quality we are accustomed to and the food was very underwhelming overall. I will definitely not be coming back.

I was really disappointed. Chips were just warm, my partners steak was chewy so I gave her half my steak. We ordered seasoned fries and again my partner got chunky chips

We went for lunch. Our server was polite and friendly. The food was lovely as always.

Booked a table for 2.15 ! Arrived on time showed to table. Unfortunately we were put under a aircon unit and it was roasting. We asked to be moved as my wife has asthma which they did without any issues. Our server was Catalin he was attentive despite being very busy. But have to say the 3 other men from start to being moved to organising our drinks where fantastic. Will definitely be back

Whilst enjoyable, it wasn't as good as we expected.

My wife and I made a visit to Edinburgh to attend the Christmas markets, finish off our shopping and to take in some Christmas cheer. We attended Miller and Carter restaurant in Edinburgh on Wed 11th Dec ‘24 to finish off my 60th birthday celebrations, to say I was disappointed is a complete under statement. To start, the restaurant was absolutely bitter cold and every customer was complaining, my wife had to sit with her coat and scarf wrapped around her to keep her warm, to try and eat a meal in this condition was absolutely disgraceful. I asked the supervisor in charge what the issue was, and was told the heating had broken and that he wanted to close the restaurant, but was told by his superiors under no circumstances it had to be closed. It was mentioned they tried to source some blowers to add heat to the restaurant but they were unsuccessful and therefore had to continue operating. I felt sorry for the team of staff who had to put up with these conditions throughout the night and to listen to the customers complaints. I was desperate to get my food served to allow us to eat very quickly and leave to a place that offered some warm and comfort, when the food arrived, it was well presented, however the steak was full of fat and grizzle, it appeared that it was cooked and served without it being properly prepared, could tbis have been because the chefs were too cold to bother ? Maybe due to energy prices increases the restaurant is trying to keep their costs down, I’m not in a position to answer, I can only take the supervisors feedback as genuine, however I’ve attended this restaurant on occasions before and I will not be returning. If you are planning to attend this restaurant in future, I would check the the restaurant is warm enough to allow you to enjoy your meal, just in case they saving money on their energy bills. A very unhappy customer.

It was a lovely restaurant and had a nice feel about it, the staff were very friendly and attentive. Our table was a booth type table and whilst it was lovely there was a wall lamp that wasn't working which made the inner seats a little dim to eat, I did ask the waitress if they could change the lightbulb but she said it was broken, it wasn't too much of a problem as I moved into the middle a little, but it would have been nice to sort it out. Not something I would score the restaurant down on.

Service very good, wine very acceptable food lamb lovely, steak very good, but my accompanying salad was odd. A big slice of iceberg lettuce in a small bowl with mayo and cheese. Rather strange

Excellent food. One issue, husband ordered non alcoholic beer, as he was driving and was served alcoholic version. He realised quickly and it was swapped but an issue as he would have been over the limit driving had he not noticed.

Food was fantastic and service from Silvia K was outstanding. She went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our meal. She even had a dessert plate made for us to say happy anniversary. Thank you

We like MC for a treat and on a 3 day visit to Edinburgh it was a no brainer to book. Discovered that booking on their website allows us to purchase a £70 voucher for £60 so that was also a no brainer! We turned up on time and were seated immediately. The food was well up to the usual standard except for my rib eye which, strangely, was a little stringy. Never had this in Garforth, where we go. Staff lovely and apologetic but, hey, it can happen. Total for 2 £105 so not a cheap night out for us.

I found this M&C one the best I have been in, the service was of the highest quality with Majůka facilities our table with a professional knowledge of the menu and produce available for our experience. She advise that our chateaubriand should be medium rare and my selection of a Château Neuf de Pape would be an excellent accompaniment for our meal. 10 out of 10

Nice atmosphere, table was late when we arrived and waited over 10 mins at the bar to be served a drink. When our table was ready, our server was very friendly and helpful. The food was no where near the standard that would be expected from this company which was very disappointing. Our server rectified this on the bill which was very generous of him however we then noticed we had been charged for someone else's drinks as well as our own. Just a really poor experience from start to finish which is very disappointing.

Our first time eating at a Miller and Carter, and it was fantastic, steak cooked beautifully. The only two things is the menu was a bit hard to read in the lighting of the restaurant and it is very noisy with everyone talking but that didn't spoil our night, we'll definitely be back!

We always go to Glasgow city / newton means. which are always fantastic. We stood waiting to be seated for over 5 minutes. When we got seated the waiter wasn’t very polite. When our food came the butcher block the medium steak was over cooked. The chips were re heated they were very dark in colour. The lobster tail didn’t have a lot of meat. Half rack of ribs was great. Very disappointing especially in the city of Edinburgh. Definitely be sticking to Glasgow miller & carter.

The food was delicious, the service was even better. We went for our anniversary dinner and absolutely loved it. The food was 10/10, the efficiency and attentiveness of the service was 11/10. Will definitely be coming back next time we're in Edinburgh.

Warm welcome and sat promptly. Staff was pleasant, though I had to knock 1 star off as it was a bit slow at times. But overall friendly and professional. Onto the food. I had the scallops to start with which were cooked to perfection. Unfortunately the steak was a let down. We had been to Miller and Carter before and have very much enjoyed it. However, this time around the steak was tough and a bit undercooked. I've had many rumps in my life but this one just didn't seem of best quality. I have asked for my steak to be medium rare but it was more on the rare side. Not a huge issue for me but if you specialise in steaks, I'd expect that it to be to my liking. The cheesecake was unavailable, so we just had coffees instead. I'm hoping this was a one off. I would probably try again but not in a rush any time soon.

We had the fixed price lunch yesterday ,plenty to choose from ,all food was delicious, our female server was very pleasant and chatty and was lovely to meet Margaret 😁would definitely go back if we had enough time in our short stay.

Served by Marika this evening and she was as AMAZING!!

Not a good experience today. Service was slow. Not enough serving staff in the restaurant I had received, by email on the 7th October a £10 voucher to be used on the A La Carte menu . I showed this QR Code to our waitress at the reception area when we arrived she scanned it with her tablet. She said it did not go through probably because we had not given her our food order yet. Half way through our meal we had to ask for a steak knife. We also had to ask for the lettuce wedge half way through our meal. One of my party asked for steak well done. Three quarters of the steak was raw. When I received our bill I once again showed our waitress the QR code and she said it had been declined as it had been used. I can only guess that the error was made when it was scanned before we ordered our meal. Manager not very helpful . Our waitress was helpful in having £5 deducted for the issue with the steak. I was very disappointed with the whole experience. I will definitely not return to Miller & Carter restaurant Frederick Street Edinburgh.
