Miller & Carter Sherwood Forest in Gedling

Our visit was absolutely amazing, our server Claudia was incredibly attentive, respectful and checked up on us whenever we needed drinks and if our food was alright, we left her a tip because she was in our view amazing! Everything was delicious, cooked to perfection, coffee was fantastic and the prices were incredibly reasonable. Absolutely fantastic visit from start to finish and can’t fault one bit of it! We will certainly be back again.

Had an amazing dinner on Saturday night, just a family outing, food was delicious and our server Jurate was very nice and knowledgeable. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Went for the lunch menu and the prices were great, we always have great service and Aaron did a great job at making us feel welcome.

First class service, Jane our server was very friendly and efficient. She went the extra mile for my wife’s birthday which made her evening special. Food was cooked perfectly.

The food was beautiful my steak was cooked to perfection. I had the vegetables as my side and this is were it fell short slightly as they were overcooked for my liking. My crème brûlée was very tasty I just would have preferred more of a crystallised top with more of a crack. I still really enjoyed it though as the taste was delicious. The service by our waitress Caitlin was amazing, she was pleasant, attentive, friendly and did her job very well.

Had a reservation for 8.45 arrived ten minutes late due to roadworks (inside their 15 minute grace period) but were refused to be seated. Terrible customer service too, no attempt at discussion just oh you’ve dropped off our system so we won’t be able to help you. Gee thanks.

Also known as Miller and Carter. You must reserve a table. We went there for lunch for our anniversary. Everything was great. Wine was a bit pricey.. but Everything was good value for such great food.

Review on a Friday night: Food: Very underwhelming, incredibly undercooked broccoli, served with peas that had formed a skin likely because being on the pass for too long. Incredibly slow, from entering to getting our mains served was 1.5 hours. Raw fish (cod) was also served on one side and overcooked on the other. One cut of my lamb was complete fat, why even serve that piece. Really lacking attention to detail. Service: friendly service, but the staff could have checked in as we had been waiting so long for food. Atmosphere: squashed 6 people into a booth, very loud with staff rushing around sometimes in a panic e.g. the phone ringing but staff saying “don’t answer it we’re too busy” Overall a poor experience for the price.

Perfection! The new signature butter really compliments the ribeye.. enjoyed every mouthful! A very clean, relaxed environment with attentive but not intrusive servers! We’ll be back for sure!

Fantastic night, and absolutely stellar service from the staff. Mia was fantastic and the food was amazing, the only small gripe was some of the food was warm not hot but they immediately remade the food without delay and, I could not take points off for a small issue like that, truly great place

It all started off so well and impressive with a nice warm welcome and ability to have drinks at the bar. Table for 6 was booked for 6.30pm which is when we arrived. The buzzer went off at around 7pm to invite us to sit down. After our orders were taken it took a very long time to receive the starters that 3 of us wanted. Finishing them it then took around another hour before receiving our main courses by which time we were losing the will to live! It was very busy and there were plenty of front of house staff but something was clearly wrong in the kitchen. Our food was very nice although a little cold, especially the onion loaf. We didn't complain about the delay as we were hoping for a member of management to apologise for the delay every now and then. No one did, although I must say that our waiter was very pleasant and professional. This was our first visit to M&C and we will think again before visiting again,

Had the Lunch Menu Salt and Pepper Calimari Starter was really nice. My Partner had the Sticky Chicken which she also enjoyed. We both went for the Rump Steak for mains with Chunky Chips we had sides of Garlic Mushrooms,Mac and Cheese and Veg which were very nice but we didn't need them. The Steak was lovely but was a little on the cool side but delicious. I had Stilton and Port Sauce and my partner had beef dripping sauce again they were very tasty. For Desert we had salted caramel profiteroles and Creme brulee with coffee. We tried a few non alcoholic cocktails which were both very nice . The food was truly wonderful however the service was even better we were Served by Chloie who was absolutely delightful. It was our first visit here but we will definitely be back.

Our server today was Mihai, what a star makes you feel at home,can't fault him in any way looked after us from the start of the meal till the end, also Paul the chef fantastic had the pork tomahawk cooked to perfection and the sauce with it was sublime. Thank you to everyone at Miller and carter Sherwood forest.

Very busy with a good ambience. The staff were clearly working flat out, but the service was excellent, Miles really looked after us. . Great food, really enjoyed the ribeye steak.

10 out of 10 On this occasion everything was as one would expect of an establishment that comes with a Hugh expectation service from.front desk through to table was 1st class with our waiter miho being attentive but not intrusive, friendly but not over familiar, the food was excellent and cooked to our request. To improve?....ensure that every visit is like this one.

Probably not the place I would have chosen for a family Sunday lunch but as we had some vouchers to use decided to take son, daughter in law and grandkids to celebrate 3 birthdays. Turned out to be a memorable occasion for us, from Chris who waited on our table, he made us feel most welcome and guided us through the menu with nothing being too much trouble (especially with a fussy youngster) to the excellent food and atmosphere. The whole family enjoyed it! A great choice of food with two of us sharing the Sunday shearing board and the other 2 adults choosing from the usual menu,all the food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious 😋. Okay some might think it's a bit on the expensive side but over all we felt if was good value and we will definitely treat ourselves again!

Myself and my two friends dined here today. Two of us shared the butchers block and my other friend had a side as they do not eat much. The whole dining experience was awesome from start to finish and our server Nicola pulled out all the stops for us, accommodating us in all our requests.Kind warm and jovial, she really made us feel special. The Steaks. Just wow, The steaks were cooked to perfection, the fillet melted in your mouth the rib eye was full of flavour and the rump was well rounded. Would highly recommend to any steak lover or anyone who enjoys a classy dining experience at a budget price.

Sun 22 Sep 2024 - we celebrated our Auntie Joan's 105th (!) birthday lunch here. 12 of us and our server, Miles was exceptional. A young lad, he was professional, polite, efficient, courteous (and very respectful to our aged aunt) - and 'took control' of us all, as he double checked all our orders (no mean feat when you have 12 people who are too busy chatting, drinking or can't hear!! The food was great and the staff all came to sing Happy Birthday etc. All in all a great experience, with very caring staff - which is quite rare these days. Thanks all for making Joan's day lovely.

We went to the Seven Mile Restaurant on the 17th Sept for our 35th Wedding Anniversary meal. We hadn’t been out for quite a while and I have to say our whole evening was absolutely lovely. Our Waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable about the steaks etc and nothing was too much trouble for her. The food was perfect, the atmosphere (even for a Tuesday) was lovely and we even got a special dessert with Happy 35th Anniversary on it which was such a personal touch. Thank you to all the staff for making our Anniversary very special. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend going there. Thank you.

We had the pleasure of being served by Claudia at Millers and Carters and her customer service was excellent! We were a large party, however Claudia took time to ensure all our needs were catered for, very polite and patient. The food was equally delicious!

Arrived at 2.30. Drinks order took 3-15. 3-30 ish food order took 4-30 food arrived. Meanwhile no one came to offer an explanation or take drinks orders. Was an absolute shambles.Food at one end was warm not hot but couldn’t be bothered to argue after the wait. Total 3-1/2 hours to complete meal. Yes there were 12 of us but this is no excuse. To top it off we were asked to vacate table as it was needed. Had barely finished deserts!!!!! Appalling service but food in most cases excellent. Put it down to a bad day at the office.

We had a fabulous 1st visit as a family. Lauren looked after us fantastically during our visit. The food was brilliant, the best steak we've had! My son rang the bell to give compliments to the chef! Brilliant idea! We will definitely be back but maybe a yearly treat as it becomes quite costly as a family for regular visits.

Service was very slow today, the two tables nearest me were both left for over 45mins with dirty pots & left over food. At one stage all four tables surrounding me were left with dirty pots. Drinks order took 25 mins & this was in a quiet 4.15 afternoon slot. My starter sat on the hot plate for 10mins & my main for 15mins before I prompted staff to fetch them. I'm not sure if they were understaffed or untrained newbies but a very poor service overall.

Either in the week or weekend, this place never fails or compromises on the food quality and service. The prices are very reasonable for the portions and quality. I have never been and not been happy. The wine choices are also favourable.

Nicola who served us was very knowledgeable and helped us with understanding what steak would best suit what we were looking for. We went for my birthday and she decorated my dessert to wish me a happy birthday. Overall a great experience with kind staff and a great atmosphere, would definitely come back here again.

We went for our first year wedding anniversary and as usual the food and service was excellent. There were 10 of us in the party with one having a food intolerance and nothing was too much trouble for the server. Chris was our waiter and he was brilliant, very knowledgeable and gave expert advice on all the dietary requirements for the gluten allergy as well as information on items on the menu. He really made the meal special. Brilliant night.

We visited to celebrate our first year wedding anniversary with family, the food was excellent and the server Chris was fantastic he couldn’t do enough for us he made us feel very welcome and his knowledge on the steak was exceptional. Overall we had a lovely time and it made our anniversary extra special, I hope this message gets passed onto him.

We arrived around 1230 with a view of sitting in the sun for a few hours before our 1415 booking for lunch. As the weather wasn’t great when we first got there, but then got considerably better around an hour in we asked if we could delay our booking whilst we enjoyed the weather. After getting the attention of the maitre de he said it’s not a problem. He failed to inform us that the lunch menu (which we came for) finished at 1500. As we only wanted items from the lunch menu we decided not to stay for the evening menu at 1505. This decision was bolstered by the bar staff not being able to serve a full pint; 3 different servers were asked to top the drinks to a full pint as charged for. Petty ? When they charge top dollar I expect a full pint 🤷🏻‍♂️

We both had the 8oz Sirloin Steak plus cocktail offer at £27, and I had a pint of Peroni. And they threw in a freebie wedding anniversary ice cream to share, nice touch. The food and service were both good. Decent ambience if a little busy. So overall a good experience and I'd go again.

Booked this restaurant for my Hubby's Birthday this was our first time here . The decor was lovely and from first impression very nice We had cocktails to start mmmm nice we had a starter ,main and pudding Hubby stated his steak was beautiful , I had the chicken as I’m not a streak fan all food was delicious the service was perfect I would definitely recommend and return

Booked for husbands Birthday First time here and was impressed looks very nice inside we was great with a smile and was asked where we would like to sit. After being seated we was greeted by yet another happy waitress who took out drinks order and food order. Cocktail to start Starters -was cream mushrooms and stick chicken wow very nice Main - hubby had steak and I had chicken ,hubby stated his steak was beautiful cooked Pudding - ice cream the strawberry is a must Food and staff perfect thank you I would definitely recommend and return

Lovely meal today. Served by Lauren who is always polite and cheerful (she’s served us a couple of times). Don’t underestimate how far a smile goes. 😊 The mocktails were lovely too. Spacious restaurant and food is always nicely presented.

This is my 2nd time being served by Lauren. Always a pleasure both times she made us all feel at ease and was extremely pleasant and positive. Even handling every servers billing nightmare with grace couldn’t be more thankful for such w lovely host. Give her the prize she deserves it :)

Note the zero for atmosphere....... Classy surroundings , very good food ( albeit pricey ) , very good service ( couple of minor hiccups preventing 5* ) but what prevented a first class birthday celebration night out was ..... We got ' kidded ' ie noisey unchecked kids - hence atmosphere zeroed . Despite when booking and offered table preference and asking for a table away from family/kids areas , we had a 3(ish)yr old playing a video game on the next table shouting "YES ! " continually as he played , and a baby screaming/squealing every few minutes about 10' away . Just killed the ambience and couldn't wait to get out . To me , it's high time that these quality venues made it more adult orientated and a less crèche feel , by putting an age limit on younger children through to babies . Who wants to sit listening to the likes of what we did ruining a potential first rate quality meal for goodness sake ? It's a shame because we were looked after well by service staff and chefs alike , including a free sharer mini desert for my wife's birthday . Lovely appreciated touch there , many thanks . Unfortunately, we wouldn't risk another £92 for a one course , one drink meal on a gamble kids would ruin it. Sorry M&C but it needs sorting .

The meal was excellent, we got the wrong chips instead of the one's we ordered but that is only a very minor negative, service was very good.

My husband and I had an amazing time. Our server Kirstie was amazing she went above and beyond for me as I have a lot of food allergies. The Chief was fantastic and also went above and beyond for me. The food was really good. We would highly recommend this place to anyone.
