Miller & Carter in Swindon

Not a great experience to be honest. Had to wait 5-10 minutes before anyone noticed we were there and needed seating. Once seated it took another 10 minutes before we received a drinks order. Food came out in reasonable time but mine and my partners steaks were over cooked. Asked for them mid rare and both come more mid well. My partners bearnaise sauce has split so looked like an oil slick and my peppercorn was completely bland. Frozen prawn that was on top of my partners steak tasted just that, frozen and my ribeye was impossibly tough. Usually we would have tried to rectify the problems then and there but no one came to see how the food was so we ate what we could and left. Really disappointed as we love a good steak but guess that’s another one off the list in Swindon. No where left to eat in this town.

We had such a lovely evening for my partners birthday! Shanice was our waitress and she was excellent, so polite and friendly she really made our evening special. What a great experience would highly recommend to anyone who wants to enjoy a great steak night out. 10/10.

Our lunch was hot, tasty and served quickly by a very polite waitress. The atmosphere was calm, relaxed and very friendly. All covid precautions were adhered to and we felt happy to be there and enjoyed our 2 course lunch very much.

High praise goes to the staff, our waitress did a grand job considering it was the first night they have been open since lockdowns began. I could see how busy she was balancing many tables and being at everyone's beck and call. The food was not of the standard it has previously been sadly. A medium rare steak arrived over cooked, not a hint of pink/redness to it, the beef dripping sauce was over salty, the chipotle chicken was exceptionally fatty and the hot chocolate appeared to have been made without any chocolate. Hopefully this was a blip as they are out of practice. Most annoying was a family at the next table keeping their child entertained by playing episodes of Dora the Explorer on an ipad so everyone could hear, totally ruined the environment and I could see staff had noticed this was an issue but nothing was said.

Had a fabulous T Bone and my wife had a couple of5oz fillets. Excellent food and service. Tables could be bigger though especially if getting the steak to share. Not cheap but worth it.

We visited for lunch and were again pleased by the care taken with Covid procedures. We had nice starters followed by Fillet steaks and I had a mini dessert and espresso. The steak and accompanying sides are very nice and although it is not cheap, the quality makes it worth it.

Excellent service by Gosia at Miller and Carter in Swindon, Wiltshire. Food was delicious. My son mentioned to Gosia the waitress that it was his mums birthday at the the start of the night. When it came to dessert order she brought out the dessert on a large plate which said Happy Birthday as part of the garnish. Simple touch made it special, thank you

First visit to this restaurant for lunch and what a enjoyable and relaxing experience my wife and I had. We felt safe with COVID regulations explained fully and well spaced out tables. We were served by Charlotte who was attentive and provided an excellent service. The food was wonderful and a decent Estrella pint was most welcome. All in all, lunch was throughly enjoyed in a relaxing atmosphere. We will certainly visit again. Thank you

Attended Miller and Carter on Drove road with my dad this evening and the food was exceptional. The service provided by Kathryn only made the meal better, especially after a month of being in lockdown. Will definitely be coming again before Christmas!

Very nice food, and great cocktails. Can never fault how well they cook the steaks! The only issue we had when we went was that they had ran out of all the big steak dishes, little disgruntling to only find this out after my boyfriend had looked at the menu and decided what he wanted.Also, it states there’s a dress code, however when we visited there were a group of people wearing very casual/comfy clothing. Don’t make a dress code for people to adhere to, to allow anybody in to eat - it made me feel overdressed in a dress.

We had a friends birthday lunch and was looking forward to the seabass. Unfortunately the portion of seabass (1/4piece) was not in proportion to the overall mash potato and greenbeans.

Welcoming and COVID compliant accompanied by very good meat. The top-up meat for the salad was very generous and delicious.

First time we have ever visited this restaurant. All staff were so friendly and welcoming. Went on a Thursday so was steak and date night, 3 courses for 28 pounds. All courses were very tasty and well presented and we can't wait to go back again.

As always great steak and service. Working really well with covid and have strict rules in place which is great. We shared a few starters which can't be faulted but we were all there for the steak. I mean why order a burger in a steak restaurant . Chateaubriand and 2 Angus ribeyes later.... The steaks cooked to perfection with a great Charing and flavour. The only reason it's 4 star and not 5 is the onion loaf, very different this time, felt a little undercooked and claggy in the middle. Still good flavour but texture was missing. This is the only bad thing and wasn't worth mentioning to staff who must have it difficult already. Will definitely go back. Thank you

Miller and Carter is always a good treat and I took my dad over there last Friday - I’m a nice son, right?!The staff is always on point, you can see their smiles even behind their mask, which shows how motivated they are, again, brilliant!I was so excited to eat that Sirloin but when it got to my table, the steak wasn’t hot to the point where the butter on top of it was not even melting. There’s nothing worst than a cold steak or a starving me, which was the case. I did tell the staff about my cold steak but all she could suggest was to get the same steak now partially eaten back on the grill. I don’t even think that complies with hygiene.It’s sad when you spend quite a bit - yeah they are not cheap - and you don’t see the value for money. Apart from that, the steak tasted very good, the ribs my dad had also tasted very good and again, the staff were bubbly and kind despite the unpractical resolution to my issue.

We wanted to have a nice meal after many months of not going out to eat and chose M&C.The measures taken to deal with Covid were fine and the staff clearly explained these.We both chose the Fillet steak and this was very good, as usual. We started with olives and also had a pudding and coffee with a nice bottle of Malbec. Overall a good experience.

We decided to come to Miller and Carter for our anniversary, for the price of the food is was extremely disappointing. The nachos came out soggy and cold after placing our order a minute before. We sent them back as the nachos was clearly days old. Our steaks then arrived and the fried onion was rock solid which then the waitress saw and was extremely embarrassed. Our waitress was fantastic and very professional about the situation.Has put a really sour taste in our mouths whether to return.

Visited Sunday afternoon whilst in the area. Had reserved a table online with no problem. The venue was clean & Covid secure. Sharing nachos were tasty. My steak was lovely & cocktails perfect. My husband had the buttermilk chicken which he said the skin was quite slimy, not crispy; so wouldn’t order again. Staff pleasant, but didn’t ask how our meals where as they were changing staff on a shift change; otherwise would have complained re the chicken.

The steak was nice and tender, and generally I could not fault the meal or the service.The half a gem lettuce offered as a starter would definitely have been improved had it been served with a vinegarate of some sort.The beef tomato was very good along with the onion fritter.

My husband and I visited on 31st August 2020 and were I’ll for 48 hours after our visit due to getting food poisoning from the frozen prawns!!!! Customer service non-existent don’t ever visit this restaurant

We went for a spot of lunch on a sat and took advantage of the superb lunch offer ... The pub is very much like the beefeater before it and could have spent more on the decor ... however... food is very good and worth a visit... not sure I would pay £60 for a tomahawk steak tho. I have eaten at much more upmarket steakhouses and paid those prices. I would return for the lunch menu and recommend people to visit tho.

The food and service was amazing. All staff were so friendly. We were served by Gosia and she was lovely and very attentive. Food was amazing and well presented. Have always loved every visit and this was no exception. Can’t recommend enough.

We’ve just finished a delicious meal at Miller and Carter. I must say not only was the food exquisite but the service provided by Shanice was otherworldly she is a credit to your organisation and clearly enjoys what she does she delivered an excellent standard of service, excellent attention to detail and we will certainly be returning again. Starters - halloumi fries = lovely, garlic bread with cheese = very goodMains - Ribeye 16oz = went for the recommended medium cooked, absolutely disgusting, fat was not rendered into the steak, had to cut off a massive pile. As the main event, definitely disappointing. Management offered to replace it but when I said no (why would I want more?!?!?) said that it’s what they are supplied and didn’t take anything off the bill.Desserts - didn’t bother staying for anyDon’t go here if you want a good steak meal.Wine - Argentinian Malbec = only average

First time out eating in a restaurant since March, really looking forward to it and wasn’t disappointed. Great service, friendly staff, amazing food would highly recommend and we will be back very soon.

Welcoming and friendly. We arrived for our first meal out as a couple since our five month old son arrived and were treated to amazing service and tremendous food! Portion sizes were very good and drinks were superb.

I visited here as part of the eat out to help out and so it was quite busy. However, the service was brillIant - definitely an improvement on previous visits. I had the fillet steak and it was cooked to perfection. The only thing I would say is there are so many sides with the steak, a bit too much for me. The onion was delicious as was the beef dripping sauce. The crime brûlée was cold and I prefer mine warm but it did taste nice.Overall it was a great meal and would definitely recommend the fillet steak.

Family of 4 had lunch on a Eat Out To Help Out, the steak was beautifully cooked and accompanied with fries and a beef dripping sauce, could not fault anything on the plate and the service was also spot on - I don't normally tip as I'm a tight git but I did here. Had Banoffee Pie for pudding which was the nicest Banoffee I had ever had. Was great to get discount on the meal but I would return at full price as the food was as good as I have had in the area.

As I had been in lockdown shielding my mum for 135 plus days I was a nervous wreck in my head anyway . Going to a restaurant was a big step for me and Chloe our waitress really made me feel normal as I do suffered from anxiety . The food well was just amazing I had to have the biggest steak lol . Went for an anniversay lunch, never been before, cant wait to go back. We had 3 courses each averaged £50 a head including drinks. I had the T bone cooked to perfection. The waitress was charming and attentive. 100% be back again soon.

We were today refused entry to sit outside to have a drink at 16.00 after work, why? Covid? 4 people were sat in the table area outside? You have to eat and drink! Ridiculous, staff sat in the bar chatting, sorry lost custom and please advertise this on your site to save others a wasted trip!

Booked a table for 5:15 arrived 10 minutes early and was asked to wait in the car park and come back at the time of our booking. Went back at 5:15 in front of us was a couple who had booked for 5:30 and they were shown to their table straight away and not asked to wait in the car park for 15 minutes, ridiculous customer service We left and took are business elsewhere.

The waitress was friendly and very nice. Pornstar martinis were great. The steak was nothing special though. I’m not sure what people are raving about. If it wasn’t for the fantastic waitress I would’ve complained.

So good to be back. Most importantly the ribeye was to die for. They really had the Covid regs sorted well. Ample table spacing and the staff had been well trained and knew what they were doing and seemed so pleased to see us back. Can't wait to return.

having been to the gloucester restaurant many times, have now tried swindon twice and there is not much between them but have to say the steaks could be hotter and the onion loaf is a very small portion in swindon, other than that a very nice meal,well served

Been a couple of times now with family, always greeted with a smile and table service is great. Between us we always have the fillet and the rump and have always been served good, tender cuts of meat, with no gristle or fatty bits. Really like the way they serve the chunk of iceberg with the dressing - feels like you're getting something healthy to go with the onion loaf and chips even if i do always choose a dressing with cheese in it! Good choice of drinks at the bar, the porn stars are yummy, if a little dangerous!

Nice atmosphere and decor boded well.Staff were attentive and efficient.We all had different starters, mains, and desserts and, without exception, they were excellent.Not the cheapest establishment but you get what you pay for, and the evening was worth every penny.In a town like Swindon, where there are so many choices, we will return, and soon.

We visited for a Birthday meal for my Partner and her Parents joined us.Now, I have an almost perverse liking for Beef Short Ribs, so when I saw thy were on the menu that was me happy.The MiL and my Partner both had Filet Steak which was cooked perfectly and my FiL had a lobster salad which was also great.The staff were brilliant, very welcoming, helpful and attentive without being over bearing.

Went to Swindon for a celbration dinner, Service - Barman was welcoming and very cheerful. As I am a member of slimming world, I chose the Sirloin steak with jacket potato and no butter or dressing on anything, The steak was cooked as requested but I have never seen so much fat on a piece of Sirloin I am a caterer myself and I would not have sent this out to the table, I did bring this up with the waitress, who said she would speak to the chef.... he obviously was not interested as no reply came back. Will not be returning as the price did not reflet in the main item STEAK.

We arrived and were seated quickly the first round of drinks arrived quickly ( over £10 for a glass ofwine) we ordered 1 starter and 2 steaks the service was slow so it involved another round of drinks. Then as we wanted the bill the waitress said she was finished off the night and her colleague wouldtake over. All in all a nice meal but no better than a pub.

Everything about miller and carter Swindon was amazing. I would especially like to thank our server Hayley for going that extra mile to really make the experience unforgettable.Not only did she have extensive menu knowledge and great recommendations (the tomahawk steak is amazing!), she also handled my diary allergy with the upmost professionalism. However, the thing that stood out to us the most was how special she made my dad feel for his big birthday! She had great banter a ton of enthusiasm and she even sang happy birthday to him! Not only did she serve the celebration but she made it! Thank you so much again to Hayley you are a star and we couldn’t have been luckier to be served by you!

I first went to what was then the Grove in Swindon in 1971 with my future wife and have been back regularly since then as I have family living close by. It has had a number of reincarnations since that first visit, Beefeater, Harvester and now Miller & Carter Steakhouse. I visited with my niece for lunch and was impressed with the new décor and layout. I was tempted by several dishes on the lunch menu, but in a steakhouse there is only one meal to have. We both had the 6oz steak which came with toasted ciabatta, béarnaise sauce, onion loaf and tomato salsa, which was nicely presented and excellent.

Birthday treat, booked at Miller & Carter on the 22nd feb. 4 of us went all of us had steak which was cooked to perfection. Me and a mate had the 10oz 50 day hung steaks both rare and both 100% great.

We went yesterday with a table of 6 and it wasn't great!! Starters were better than the mains. I had a salad with blue cheese, avocado, bacon tomato, and blue cheese dressing. Paid extra for a few bits of steak. The salad had about 3 bits of bacon, 2 bits of blue-cheese and no avocado and no dressing. Had to ask for dressing, also ask where the avocado was and she brought out a little bowl of a slimy, watery, frozen avocado. I asked why it was frozen and was advised they don't have fresh avocado. I HAVE NEVER BEEN SERVED FROZEN SLIMY AVACADO! The sad salad I had was £16.00! Wouldnt mind paying that it was decent. My sisters Pork came with half an apple and bacon on top, which was inedible because it was hard. She explained her meal as boring. The best dish seemed to be the risotto. I did complain a few times but was not offered a discount, free drink or anything. We arrived at 1 pm and didn't receive our mains until almost 2:30, it wasn't even that busy! The previous time we went about a year ago, I had a burger with a bone in it, which I was told was taken seriously but never heard back. Never going to this place again, the food is below average and overpriced.

I had a really disappointing experience at miller and Carter, we had a works meal here and there was only one vegan option for main and one for dessert. I went for the only vegan option which came with baby potatoes, I took a few bites before realising they were smothered in butter I told them and they told me all potatoes come with butter as they’re pre prepared that way in bulk! To which I questioned why they had that on a vegan meal! .

Would have been 5* as the Chateaubriand was excellent; tasty and tender... But... to pay £50 for this 16oz/450g main (for 2 sharing) and the 4 of us all cramped around a small square table is ridiculous.

The most disappointing steak I’ve ever had...! Having eaten at this location for many years I recommended it for our works belated Christmas meal. So for starters, not sure if my memory is failing but to be served the Wild Atlantic Scallops which looked very ‘lost’ in the centre of the plate being about the size of a £1 coin (x4) were tasty but exceptionally brief so therefore felt rather over priced at £9.75, which I can almost except if you are expecting fine dining which is after all what we wanted. I then ordered a the ‘50 day aged master butchers choice’ Black Angus 10oz Sirloin as felt quite hungry and wanted something bigger than an 8oz fillet. Again it appeared exceptionally small considering my choice but initially tasted fine. Unusually it immediately had a line of fat through the centre but the tipping point was that at least a third of this steak was a mixture of hard and rubbery fat at one end. This meant I ate a £26 steak meal in record time as only a few mouthfuls were ok, making this the most disappointing and worst value for money meal I have ever eaten, which after 55 years is some claim...To make matters worse, my colleague (boss!) ordered the same steak and his was identically as bad as mine. We pointed it out, and the staff member looked as surprised by our leftovers and as we were, (as Steak eaters know, Sirloin is normally known for its slim fat line on one edge), so were offered a free dessert, which the chocolate Hazelnut bomb was excellent, thank goodness. The other meals were ok but 2 out of 5 being that poor at a place where you expect steak to be well above par made the £265 bill feel like we had had a bad experience and a disappointing long awaited works meal....

This was our first visit to Miller and Carter and will not be our last. We were taking advantage of the special January set menu which offered a limited selection of starters and deserts but a comprehensive choice of mains, both steaks and alternatives. The steaks were cooked to perfection, not over cooked as most other restaurants seem to achieve. The service was excellent with the waitress being both professional and friendly - excellent eye contact too. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we are retuning on the last day of the special offer!

Shame that I can’t say the service was as good as the food! The food was on point and delicious. However, the staff service was appalling. We had to wait for nearly 40mins for a bottle of wine, which when bought to our table was place and I quote “ladies here’s your wine” not unscrewed the cock. He’s colleague who was few steps away had to shout across, I quote “mate you’ve got to open it” to which he replies “I know mate, but it’s been sat there for 20mins” to make it worse when asked for fresh glasses that took another 10mins. Staff that greets you in have got a welcoming approach, but the waitresses not so welcoming.

This was my first visit with a group of friends, and we had a wonderful time.

I couldn’t fault this M and C. You know your going to get a good cut of meat well prepared to your liking with decent service in a relaxed environment. That were moderately busy for my mid week dinner but cooked fine with that. Good for nice business dinners date night and special occasions. Too rich and expensive for a regular family meal or fill up - there are other places for that. It’s a chain but a good one and safe for a nice steak dinner and bottle of food plonk.

I went here for the first time. It was for my birthday so I had made a booking online and asked in the special request box that because it was my birthday could I please have a nice table. The table we were given was a small table for 2, there was only 2 of us to be fair, however our table was right by the waiters' station (where the cleaning stuff is put) so I didn't personally consider this to be the best place to be sat, especially when looking around the restaurant and that other parties of 2 were at more roomier tables. Nobody acknowledged that it was my birthday, it would have been nice if someone had, especially as I had mentioned it in the booking and even had a code for a free glass of fizz! The food was lovely, we had January set menu but note you need to pay a supplement if you want a steak better than rump. I had the chicken and it was perfect, the fries and onion loaf were also great. We both had sticky toffee pudding and we were both surprised to find that it was not warm in any way. When the waiter came I mentioned this and he rambled on about how they take a chunk, cut it in half and then put in the microwave to heat up (which clearly they hadn't in this case), and which we did not need to know at all, I would have preferred a simple apology actually!! It was as if he didn't really know how to handle the query. So apart from this it was good and I would go back, though I would request a hot sticky toffee pudding please!!

Went here as we had a gift voucher given as a Christmas gift.

We had a most fabulous meal at the Miller& carter Swindon, the service was slick, the waitress was very polite, helpful also had a lovely smile. The food was well presented, hot had a great taste. It was worth every penny, if you liked the meal you could ring the big bell then the chefs and workers would cheer. Well done I have already recommended friends to book you.

Always love coming back here to eat. Atmosphere is great.

You get what you pay for is never truer a phrase than here, having been a couple of time and the most recent opting for a 30 day aged fillet steak. Expensive (as are most dishes on the menu) but probably worth it!

No 8oz steaks at all, we were only told this after we had ordered drinks, service was poor, I made several complaints to manager and head office but very poor response.

My family and I visited Miller & Carter on a Sunday night. We went for the 3 course set menu for £27 I think. There was a brilliant selection and we were impressed with the value.

We had a brilliant time. Food was top bought to us by a brilliant waitress Zofia.

We were seated right next to a couple of families which was a bad idea from the start. My son ( who suffers from alopecia )was asked to remove his cap , which understandably upset him. The waitress apologised . The starter didn’t arrive and was bought out with the main meal . And to top it all the families next to us we’re so loud we couldn’t hear each other speak. The rump steak was ok but I think totally overpriced considering the size of it.

Came here a few times. Both times Sophia Made me feel more than satisfied. Her service is worth 5 stars

Group of 14 of us went for a work meal out. JAMES was our waiter he is amazing he wasn’t phased by the amount of us. He was very attentive and helpful with telling us about the menu and helped us decide what to eat. He wasn’t even phased we all payed separately by card. The restaurant is very clean and tidy, decor is beautiful and spacious Love bench seating. The food was amazing came out fast and this is such a hard thing when there’s a large group. Everything was hot and delicious. Compliments to the chef. Lastly the drinks were great too. Well priced and totally amazing. Thank you for a great night. Will definitely be back.

I just love the quality steaks cooked to perfection but especially the choices. Thus we ranged from 20oz t-bone to 8oz rump between our party! Little disappointed table not ready on arrival as I booked well prior but nevertheless one was soon found. Was a little bit noisy and very busy on a Saturday night but this is understandable. Pleasant service and food came quite quickly. Little room for dessert but generally priced around £6. No parking issues with disabled spot readil;y available. Will definitely be back.

Steak incredible,service amateurish! Police called to deal with 3 totally wasted people,who should not have been allowed in anywhere,let alone given a table. Staff totally unable to deal with anything,birthday night ruined! There's much better for less in Swindon.

Went to M&C; on Aug 7th for birthday meal and I can say what we had was perfect. We decided to try and book for 5th Oct, that was a no go as they said they had a booking for 20 people. We decided to try and book for 19th oct and was then told they can't do 15 people. When I mentioned the party of 20 on the 5th they said it was 2 parties of 6 so what's going on?. On top of that my wifes works xmas doo is there and they've got 15 people????.

First time to Miller & Carter Swindon and not dissapointed. Service was smooth and at the right pace had the chicken wings starter very nice wife had cheesey mushrooms lush this was followed by rack ribs and a sirloin steak delicious. Chloe our waitress so polite and served with a smile . Both finished off Eaton mess very nice. Could not fault this place and 100% will be returning back in the near future

Wow - I’ve driven past this place many times and always wondered what it was like - amazing food, fantastic service and one of the best burgers I’ve ever tasted...in fact I’d go so far to say it’s actually the best I’ve ever had. Others in our party had steaks and fish dishes and everyone was really happy with their choices - highly recommended - and a must for steak lovers as their steak menu choice was outstanding too!

Had such a wonderful afternoon here for my birthday. The service was fantastic; nothing was too much hassle for the staff, they were polite and friendly and everything was done in a professional and timely manner. The food was incredible also!

We went there expecting to order a nice steak meal only to find out that the steak we wanted, they didn't have. I could understand if we were there later in the evening, but it was early and on a week day. We definitely would not recommend this restaurant to any one and we will not go back.

Visited as a multi racial family group.I went to inquire if I could book a table for 6 including a high chair.Was told since I didn't have a booking there would be a 45minute delay which I accepted.When I came back with the rest of the group we were made so unwelcome and the table i had been promised was no longer available.The lady was incredibly hostile and simply didn't want us.We opted to leave and find somewhere else.I then sent an email to complain for which I got the usual copy and paste reply.

We had an enjoyable evening with friends , the surroundings were very nice ,the food was good , fresh , but service was really slow , asked twice for water , twice for the candle to be lit , and waited ages for the starters , then has to re ask for the bread that we had also ordered to go with the starters. The Food was enjoyable , we had 2 bottles of wine , 4 people , then ordered a further bottle that then got placed on the table , unopened, of which I found un professional. The piece/chunk of lettuce you get with the steak I found a waste of time and no one ate on our table. Overall we enjoyed the meal , but probably wouldn't recommend or re visit.

Taken out by our nieces as a thank you for helping them settle in to their new home! We had a great time, the waitress was very friendly and helpful. The menu was extensive but unfortunately not all the steaks were available. However this did not deter us, we all selected something and we were not disappointed with our choices. We did decide to return to try the steaks on another occasion as we had enjoyed the experience so much.

Went recently with friends for lunch. We all decided to have the lunchtime set menu which had plenty of choice. All the food was really good in both quality and quantity and was thoroughly enjoyed. Claire our waitress looked after us very well and patiently, as we were chatting so much we kept forgetting to order. They serve a good pint of ale too.

As a group of four we decided to have the lunch time set menu, we all had various starter dishes calamari, mushrooms, garlic bread with pork, which we all agreed was lovely.

Really enjoyed the food and had good service, the only thing let it down was the outside area, maybe have a non smoking area too.

The stake is not as described, an aged steak tastes totally different also the steak had over 35% fat on it.

We booked a table for 6 to celebrate two family occasions. Having arrived it wasn’t too busy and we were seated fairly quickly.

The food looked great, but taste left a lot to be desired.
