Miller and Carter Steak House in Leeds

Since our last visit last year which we throughly enjoyed we were excited to return however we thought the food was nothing special this time around. Ordered a fillet steak but found it quite chewy. We were a table of 2 and was seated on a small table at the edge of the restaurant, the table next to us were that close you could hear each others conversations which made the experience quite uncomfortable. Maybe 3 tables should be seated in this area there rather than 4 tables. I don't think we will be hurrying back anytime soon :(

The service wasn’t great!! It just took so long to place our order and for the food to arrive. We were all so hungry by the time it was put on the table. My son ordered a plain burger but arrived with all the toppings, easy mistake to make and they took it back and said they would replace it but his meal didn’t arrived until we had all finished. My brother ordered tea with his dessert which he didn’t get. The food was nice but just felt very unorganised and not the family occasion meal we’d hoped for. Won’t be returning.

Myself and my partner treated ourselves to dinner last night and were not disappointed. We shared a CÔte de boeuf and it was the best steak we've ever eaten: tender, the perfect size with plenty of delicious accoutrements to go with it. Hats off to the chef. To top it off, we had a lovely waitress Beebee whose friendly attitude and attentiveness provided really great service. You've got yourselves a really hard worker and I hope you'll recognize this appropriately. We don't often go out and splash a lot of money but we will definitely be back, so thank you!

I arrived to find that we'd been given a table right in the middle of the restaurant even though there were empty tables and booths around the sides. Annoyingly there was a bell right behind me that was presumably used to ring for service. However, it appears to be normal practice for the locals to ring the bell when they're leaving, then everyone in the restaurant cheering and foaming with excitement. It was a bizarre experience as I was expecting higher standards really. Unfortunately the bell ringing constantly didn't do me any favours as I have autism and I'm sure there are many other customers who are sensitive to noises. I would suggest that you don't put a table right next to the bell, either that or you warn customers that they will be seated near a bell. It completely ruined my visit unfortunately and I probably won't be returning. The service was fairly poor too as they kept bringing the wrong meals over to us, so I'm not sure what happened there. When the correct food eventually reached us it was very nice. My steak was cooked perfectly and my sides were delicious too. There was one female employee who kept laughing at the top of her voice like a Spotted Hyena which was very irritating and not very professional but again, this is probably just normal behaviour with the regular customers. The drinks took an age to arrive, even though the restaurant was quiet, so I ended up just going to the empty bar to get them myself. It was much quicker than waiting. Overall, the food was good but pretty much nothing else was.

James our server was fabulous & attentive nothing too much trouble food was excellent as always as expected from miller & carter .. Horsforth a great place for lunch menu to celebrate my birthday & glass of free Prosecco too

Lovely restaurant and food is good. Sunday lunch was busy and took 1hr 30mins to get our meal. Will never go for Sunday lunch again.

Couldn't fault it. A little bit more expensive than Beefeater, but the food was another level.

Visited last night at dinner time, went for the chateubriand and it was cooked to perfection, brilliant service from Declan aswell.

3 of us visited on a Sunday afternoon for dinner. We were seated quickly, with our order taken and drinks served promptly. The starters came after a few minutes and were very pleasant. After that, things took a definite turn for the worse. We waited for an hour before realising that tables around us, that had arrived after us were finishing their main courses. We questioned the waitress, who quickly came back to advise there would be a wait of 10 minutes. We waited again and after 10 minutes were told it would be another 5 minutes. At this point we left, as we walked out the manager actually thanked us for visiting, to which we said we hadn't actually been served our meals. He showed no concern at all, although he would have been quite aware, as we had seen our waitress discussing the issue with him. It was quite obvious that the table next to us, that arrived just after us, was a staff member and that their order was dealt with as a priority probably causing the kitchen to overlook our order, which is the cooks mistake and has no bearing on our waitress, who had just started her shift and was very upset when she came back to us. From what we saw, this was the result of poor management and in no way our waitress's fault.

A perfect meal with the girlfriend tonight which was matched by the quality service from our waiter Declan.

Great food & wine! Very slow service for a Saturday afternoon & fairly empty restaurant. Ordered drinks & waited 15 minutes before the waiter came to take our food order & realised he'd forgot the drinks. We were then given glasses with ice but no water 🤷🏼‍♀️ we did get water in the end because the ice melted.

Food was fantastic really tasty and Petra our waitress was amazing really nice and helpful.

Had a fantastic Valentine’s dinner here. The food was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection, and the service was excellent. Loved that there’s free parking, which made things super convenient. No strict dress code, so it felt relaxed yet still special. Perfect spot for a great steak night—highly recommend!

As a couple on a date night we choose to have the butchers block and I can tell you now it did not disappoint! James was lovely and helped with recommendations! Lovely evening we will be returning

Not local so just stopped by for a nice lunch, James was our server and was really helpful, he helped us with the app and provided great service!

Food freezing cold stake chewing burnt well asked for medium waited 30 minutes for a starter and freezing food sat in there two hours to eat lettuce and cold mash had to send the main back it was that bad service slow don’t book waste of time

James was a great server! He had some fun with us, but also sorted out any issues super quick. Food was really nice, but some was a bit like warm. Fried calamari was a bit 'soggy' (not crispy), so would only give 3* for food.

Lovely attentive staff member called Jessica. Food arrived in good time and was lovely and cooked right. My only complaint is the state of the venue as it looks tired compared to other Miller & Carter's. The carpet, exterior of the building for example looks tired and in need of a refurb. It's in complete contrast to the Leeds Light one, which is why I was surprised to see the state of this one. We will be back though but hope the latter comments are taken on board.

Food was bang on as always but the service left a lot to be desired.

Booked for Valentine’s Day 9pm. Had to pay £20 booking fee. Didn’t get seated or speak to a waiter until 10:30pm. Got up and left early and paid for our drinks. Didn’t even get offered to have our drinks paid for. Horrible service and night ruined. Wont be coming back.

Food was ok, not great considering the price. Service was great. What lets it down is the fact the restaurant is a dump and needs some serious investment. Filthy tables and menus, rotten windows, carpet worn away, disgusting toilets and it looks dilapidated from the outside

Excellent way to enjoy my 22nd birthday. Amazing food and we couldn't ask for anymore from James he was amazing. Anyone coming definitely try the butchers block sharing plater. Steaks so juicy and tender. Just melts in your mouth.

Perfect food for your money, but please add cranberry sauce to your camembert mash 😋

Top class food . Waited over an hour for our meal . Cocktails could be better. Think Horsforth Miller n Carter needs a minor refurbishment looks a little shabby . Enjoyed our meal 😋 which is the main thing . Will be back x

I went to Miller and Carter on Saturday for a family birthday and we had a lovely time. The service was spot on by Petra and I felt they left enough time between courses for you to enjoy each one without being rushed on to the next one . The food was lovely as always. I love all the little extras you get with it like the lettuce and onion loaf. Good atmosphere although not that busy (maybe due to the weather) and look forward to going again soon.

James, our steak expert - was kind and funny. I’ve not been to a miller and Carter before and he was very good at explaining the menu, and what I’d like based on like.

My husband and I came for our Christmas dinner with friends. It was busy, too busy. Our poor waitress was running around and trying her best, but more help was needed. We waited too long for our main to arrive & the other customers around us were frustrated also. When the main came, it was warm, not hot. It went cold very quickly. Not good especially for hungry children. I didn't want to complain to the waitress who was doing her best & had already been shouted at twice. This is the opposite of the standard I have come to expect from Miller and Carter.

Had an amazing meal this evening, our waiter James was impeccable, couldn't do enough. Would highly recommend Horsforth Miller and Carter to anyone.

Top notch steak & waiter was great.

Table was booked for 2.45 on Christmas Day sat down at 3.50pm left at 7.20pm. 4 of our party pre ordered the turkey dinner,what turned up was rather disappointing. 1 roast potatoe, a spoonful of mash hidden under the turkey which itself was dry and hard, probably because it was left on the pass for so long. For £99 ph wouldn’t go again.

It was a Christmas day booking and all the food was reordered. We arrived before our booked time. We were seated 30 minutes late. It was an hour before our first course arrived. A further 80 minutes before the main course arrived and a further 30 minutes before desert. The whole meal took over 3 hours.

Went for a year anniversary and loved everything from the food to the service. We were served by Lou and was met with a friendly and welcoming experience. A smart casual dining experience that is great for a relaxed evening out.

We visited on Boxing Day and met by happy friendly staff. Morgan was our very attentive and friendly hostess. Meal was very good and the atmosphere was excellent. Thank you

Waiting a long time for drinks and then starter. It was not busy at the time we went. Food was tasty and plentiful and good value. I think the steak could have been slightly better quality for a fillet. I would say more of a texture of sirloin. My grans veg was burnt or overdone and inedible. All in all we had a good meal, however, there was not much taken off the bill given the amount we spent! We will try a different miller and carter next time as the food was generally really nice and good value!

Had an absolutely brilliant meal with my dad and grandparents here! James was a great server and looked after us and especially my Grandma who couldn't eat everything & put her meal in a box to take home.
