Mill Cafe in Clackmannanshire

Visited here today early afternoon, both of us had the butternut and chilli soup and coffees . Delicious soup and nice coffees , pleasant atmosphere , clean and a great selection of cakes too

Well, first time in the cafe in years. Went in for a late lunch, just after 3pm and couldn’t get any hot food. Was told they don’t serve hot food after 2pm - why? No ice for our cold drinks. Coffee nothing special. Place felt cold - they were a draft blowing through. Won’t be back in a hurry. Disappointed, given how up market the shop is.

Rather disappointed. Menu boards stated Gluten free bread available for toasties. We asked at the till. Member of staff went to check after several minutes another member of staff offered to take our order. We explained and waited. First member returned and confirmed Gluten free bread available, so I asked for bacon, brie and cranberry toastie on Gluten free bread. That not available as sandwiches are made up in the morning. No suggestion of what was available, so I then had to ask can you do cheese? Yes, can you do cheese and ham? Yes can I have cheese and ham on Gluten free bread, yes. It felt like a guessing game or quiz. Ordered and after 15 minutes ( normal wait time) received food. The food was fine, just the process of ordering was challenging. I don't think I will bother again

Been a while since I drove over for a take away and I do not ever recall having grated cheese mixed in with pasta being called 'Maccaroni'. Poor show

Was doing some shopping and popped in here for a spot of lunch and went for a baked potato, When it came WOW! how good does that look the presentation was really great and tasted just as good. Top marks to all the staff .. Never thought I would give 5 Stars for a baked potato Hahaha ...

Worst scone I’ve ever had fell to pieces when taken out of the wrapper impossible to spread anything on it beware!

Stay clear if you’re GF. They just tried to serve my missus a normal sandwich as GF. Waited 45 minutes for a sandwich that never came……they’d forgotten

Horrific carbonara. Considering the upper class furniture on display I expected more from the cafe. Since when does a carbonara have peppers and mushrooms. Mushy pasta

First of all let me say the store is well worth a visit. Some things are on the expensive side but tjhere is plenty of choice and not everything is expensive. Whist shopping, we visited the cafe for lunch. It was busy but not overly. Covid rules are followed as far as I could see. That said, we ordered two toasties which were under cooked and frankly soggy. A side portion of chips was if anything over done. The salad was a bit limp. The prices were ok and service was good. Don't think I would go back certainly for lunch.

Popped into the cafe when visiting the furniture store. Scones, jam and cream was wanted but no cream on display. When getting our drinks, we asked the waitress if they had any and her response was "There should be some on the display" but before she could check, the cashier was already hotfooting it to replenish the stand and before our teas were ready, had returned complete with two tubs of clotted cream. Brilliant teamwork. Scones were very tasty and with the topping - we were more than satisfied with our visit.

We had lunch here recently while looking for furniture in the adjoining shop. The food was good, the place was very clean and the Covid precautions were adhered to strictly.

Have had lunch/coffee here often when I'm in the area. Staff have adapted well to new routines due to Covid restrictions. Felt very safe on recent visit. I like the way food is now brought to your table now...instead of having to queue at the counter which sometimes results in food getting cold at busy times before you're seated. Maybe keep this system going as we ease out of restrictions?

Excited to be back in a restaurant/cafe post lockdown. The place was very quiet and Covid restrictions were being followed. The staff were helpful and the whole process was easy. I had a toasted Brie sandwich - which was ok- a fruit slice and an Irn Bru. The cost of c£9 seemed high for what I had - thankfully it was just me eating, as feeding a family here would be pretty expensive!!! The interior was clean and fresh. There was also outside seating available.

Order 3 rolls on sausage: poor sausage (2 link) and not so fresh roll for myself and friends . Before lockdown you got a nice sausage (3 link) and nice roll. Looks like some one else has taken over running this place, as both the roll and sausage was not the quality it used to be in fact poor quality. Have not been back since and don't think we will be back. The menu not the same choice as before.

I love you Sterling Mills but for this week's Friday lunch you are missing the mark. Your staff, although willing, appeared to be completely overwhelmed by the early lunch time diners. Limited choice was an exaggeration - no veggie/special dietary choice at all. I don't mind being advised that a freshly cooked gammon steak will be at least a ten minute wait, but when the complete meal arrives barely warm, on a cold plate, no excuse. It looked congealed and forgotten about. My money was refunded easily enough as we couldn't wait another ten minutes for "a freshly cooked gammon steak." Something went badly wrong in the kitchen or are the staff struggling.Because I'm local and I love Sterling Mills please make a decision, limit further the numbers of diners that can be managed with good hot food as was your usual standard, or have a good long hard look at what's going wrong between the front of house staff and kitchen staff. If as much attention to service was given to the constant sanitising of hands between every customer, service might resume to a quicker level. I know these are difficult times but it's disappointing to leave the Mill Cafe hungry and disappointed in search of a better lunch option.Apologies, it will be a long long time before I visit again, this was my first since you reopened, needs to be addressed.

A friend and I visited. The staff were lovely and all that we ate and drank was great - soup, sandwich, toastie and tea. The new covid-19 processes are clearly in place but don't detract from the warm welcome.

Shopping trip require some substance so visited this cafe. Not very busy a queue of two but took ages. Very limited choice husband went for soup cauliflower and broccoli tasteless even adding seasoning could not bring it to life, bread and butter. Several people behind counter he asked lady for a cup for soft drink was met with a stare that could curdle milk and a sharp (I’m with a customer) while standing by the drinks dispenser which did not have a big selection. I had scone and jam and a coffee one of their hot drinks machine had an engineer attending to it so waited awhile. We were asked for Contact details form to be completed on arrival. Hand sanitisers a plenty and all table clean. Lady cleaning the restaurant extremely helpful for getting condiments from a cupboard (out of sight) Not a next time as several other options across the road available.

Have visited a couple of times recently and the food is lovely, nicely presented and appeared quickly when our buzzer went. Staff are lovely.The main meals are reasonably priced and decent portions, but I do take issue with the prices of the toasties and cakes. However it wouldn't stop us going again as we do love the cafe.

Coffee nice, food reasonable, service slow. Biggest put off was the couldn't care less to downright rude attitude of some staff (one who advised she was the supervisor!). Younger member of staff appeared to be embarrassed by her tone, so thought maybe just an "off" day however upon looking up other reviews, seems to be a regular issue. Will be sure to give this place a miss the next time I'm in the area!

I reviewed this place a while back after a rather bland and disappointing sandwich. But I have been there on 3 separate occasions in the last couple of weeks for morning coffee, breakfast and lunch and have found the hot cooked food excellent. So it's only right that I say so. The portions were huge and represented good value for money, and it's always busy so they must be getting something right. And there were lots of locals there too so it's not just shoppers who visit.My opinion of the food is quite changed. And the home made egg mayo bore no resemblance to what was inside the sandwich I had issue with previously. So well done folks. I still find the ambience stark and canteen like, but as it's a former industrial space I dare say that's to be expected. But I can't fault the food or service.

It's really good the staff are attentive prices very reasonable great to pop into to grab a coffee and cake when you shopping in Sterling Mills and maybe it's chilly outside or rainy it's child friendly too definitely my favorite go-to for a coffee and cake in Sterling Mills

I have been going to Mills Cafe for 10 years now: my son going from car chair to eating an adult meal. I love the fish and chips; hand cut chips and breaded fish. The steak pie is some of the best I have ever had: thick gooey pastry, perfectly cooked stew and hand cooked chips. My daughter had the sausages and chips: not a pea remained on the plate despite a generous plate. The beef olive was also perfectly cooked. Food arrives quickly and the whole restaurant is clean. I cannot recommend enough.

Small amount of sandwiches and toasties on offer. Plus some hot food which was limited as well. Only thing in abundance was cakes.

Dropped in for a cooked breakfast this morning ,not a great number of choices on show ,settled for a five piece selection with tea and toast .Very surprised at the low price ,no wonder they are busy

Visited at 4.30 pm on a Sunday afternoon for a cuppa. Chose a slice of cake then went to hot drink area for service. 3 staff ignored us for a while. Eventually a server looked at us, we asked pleasantly for 2 teas. Cups and saucers were pushed across the counter with obvious irritation and 2 pots of tea prepared and put in front of us. I looked around for milk and asked where I should find milk. Surly server stomped over to a milk machine and asked how many pots we wanted. By this time another staff member had rung up the items on the till and asked for money. On the surface of this account it looks OK but all the while the main server gave us filthy looks and was very rude. Why? I've no idea. We were polite. I did wonder if they were about to close but other customers were served after us. Not good!

Bright, well laid out and easy instructions to follow when ordering the food of your choice from a hot service display.

This is ok for a coffee and a sandwich but I would rather eat in the main restaurant which has wider hot food options and is generally more comfortable. The Mill Cafe is just what it says, and feels a bit like a works canteen. And £4.25 for an underseasoned and very bland egg sandwich was a disappointment. Could be a lot better.

Went here with family and had a lovely lunch. We had Prawn Sandwiches and Chicken Sandwiches with coffee. I believe it has been renovated recently which is very nice and clean surroundings. We then had a look at the Mill Shop which was great as they have a great selection of goods

Had coffee and cake. Nice cake and coffee. Clean and helpful staff. Worth popping in if out shopping.

Although vegetarian friendly options are on offer (run of the mill cheese / cheese&onion; toasties), I don’t think staff are properly trained and there is not enough done to ensure vegetarian products aren’t mixed with meat. My toasty was served with a chunk of bacon attached to it. Must have been picked up from the grill.

I had lunch here while visiting the furniture store. The cafe is lovely and there is plenty of seating including an outside area and a special area for families. Its very airy snd bright.

Great food, affordable prices and the staff are very nice. Lovely relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend this place for some lunch

The cafe area is lovely it has been done to a very good standard but oh dear the food leaves a lot to be desired. I had a plain scone well it was so hard the knife would not cut it the scone broke. I took it back. My husband had a link sausage roll and the sausage was bland. We will not be heading back any time soon we used to go often but today,s visit was disappointing..

We popped in for a soup and roll for lunch. Tasty enough soup but not hot, probably partly down to the LONG wait to pay at the till, the operator seemed to be more interested in running around getting things from the kitchen. Poor show, need to investigate other eateries in the area as an alternative.

Popped in with family for a tea & scone. We were made to feel really welcome and the staff were very helpful. The scone with jam and clotted cream was superb!

Looked for somewhere for lunch while visiting Sterling outlet village and this was suggested. Not bad at all, good hot food cooked within reasonable time and used a pager to alert. Tea/coffee was brought while we waited for food. Would use again.

Had a nice small coffee here before I continued shopping then went over to the butterfly inn( left my review for the butterfly) Staff pleasant and friendly thank you .😀☕️

Had a lovely High Tea today. Fabulous value at £10.99 for steak pie, chips and veg, slice of toast, scone and cake + tea or coffee! Food was delicious and staff were lovely. Homemade food and home baking can't beat it.

Thoroughly enjoyed the bright relaxed ambience yesterday while having lunch. Recommend fish and chips and macaroni cheese. Both good sized portions, fresh chips far from soggy and meals were hot and tasty. Came back for coffee later after browsing in shop.

First visit and decided to call into the restaurant for lunch. My wife and I picked the Macaroni and my granddaughter the fish goujons all with chips.

Bright cafe with plenty of seating. Staff worked hard at clearing tables. Coffee was excellent. Ordered chicken biryani; offered chips(!) or rice with it. Dish looked like a mass manufactured stodgy mess, almost tasteless and the chicken likewise. Very poor value.

Before going in to shop for some furniture we decided to try the cafe. Totally disappointed! We only wanted something light so we thought a toasty would be ample. My tuna toasty was verging on being off, the smell was awful. Would not return to this cafe again. Doesn’t have a good atmosphere but would be very dubious in trying their food again,!!

Went here with our family for a lunch and found it to be very good. We had soup and sandwiches but there was a good selection on offer. Good for a quick lunch.

Although this cafe is beautifully decorated with a great atmosphere, and has a fab charity bookshelf to buy from, I was seriously disappointed by the main course options. Not a single vegan sandwich or hot main course available. Well, maybe one, if you count the chip butty we ended up having. The lady that served us was so friendly and apologetic, she tried her best to suggest options (bizarrely, there was a vegan dessert option) but what could she do when the main menu had no meals to offer?

Food was fine if a little overpriced for what is on offer however terrible customer service waiting while lady making coffee had a conversation with customer (who was staff) behind me in the queue about her holidays. The member of staff on the till was obviously embarrassed and apologised.

some of the staff are brilliant but some just down right ignore basic hygiene rules and regulations one kitchen staff with ginger hair wears her skull cap like a fashion accesory on the back of her head, i can tell that the food is batch cooked especialy the macaroni the pasta is stodgy and the sauce is gritty. really dont know why i keep comming back time and time again and pay the extorsionate prices for crap food

It’s been a while since we were here and it was extremely busy and queued up so we went a wander around the store and returned about 35 minutes later to a quieter time and no queue at all. The menu here is not spectacular but all the traditional favourites are here, from soups to fish and chips mac and cheese salads and deserts etc so there is more than enough to choose from. Only down side was having to find and clear our own table, it always irritates me because they get the rest of it so right. Still it does work after a fashion and a big plus is they have a separate family/children’s dining area which is just a great idea. Great value, great service, great food and a really great cup of coffee that did not require a second mortgage. Nice people too.

We had breakfast here this morning and would definitely recommend as this was great value for money, fresh traditional breakfast ,fast service and friendly staff will definitely be back.

Situated with Sterling- which has a large selection of household and gardening products - is the Mill cafe - quite big and the staff were very pleasant. The breakfast wasnt bad at all - tasted better and tasted worse. Not wishing to sound like Goldilocks BUT the seats were either Hard or were too low and Soft. Just couldnt find the right one !!. Certainly worth a visit as far as other choices.

On the spur of the moment we decided to visit the outlet village at Sterling Mills. When we had finished in the outlet village, it was lunch time, so we decided to have a snack lunch. We saw the signs for the Mill Cafe and decided to visit. What a pleasant place we found it to be. We couldn't make our minds up as to what to eat as there was a large selection, and eventually decided on a Cheese & Pickle Toastie, and a Bacon, Brie & Cranberry Toastie plus salad & crisps. We also chose an Iced Fruit Slice & a Chocolate & Mint Traybake, along with a couple of soft drinks.The toasties were delivered to the table, and the electronic pager flashed when the food was coming. They were excellent as were the cakes. It was so nice to see the cafe with different styles of furniture, also an outside area. Despite the cafe being busy, there was no smell of cooking. We would certainly re-visit if we are in the area, and recommend it to our friends.

A lovely surprise last week, smaller scones. However, it was only for one day! I would like to suggest that you continue to offer them, it is just a nice size with a cuppie. Why not have smaller plain scones and fruit etc the normal size to give customers the option. That way customers could choose wither they were happy just plain or could purchase a jar of jam if they wanted it sweeter. Hopefully you will try this.

Very disappointed popped in for a quick lunch. Ordered panini which came with a side salad. Shen it arrived the lettuce was brown at the sides, limp and disgusting. Brought this to the attention of a young waiter, explained I didn’t want another salad but this wasn’t acceptable. I still received no apology from management. Very disappointed won’t be back

Tried this cafe as other cafe across road didn’t open till llam. Had 2 pots of tea for 2 of us but one would have done as quite big. The mint tiffin was nice and we shared a pancake each. Didn’t enjoy pancakes as these were not freshly made. Plenty of tables to choose a seat.

Stopped here for refreshment whilst shopping. Good value for Coffee, tea, sandwiches and pancakes shared between 2.

Lots of good food to pick from and quick service. Pretty clean and lots of friendly chatty staff members.

I visit this cafe several times a week. I like the laid back atmosphere from the spacious hall with the option of soft couches and chairs next a large stove in the corner on cold days.

Couple of times a month I wander down for breakfast here. Really enjoy the mix u can have in choice for a fry up ! Reasonably priced & very clean & spacious. Staff always nice & finish off with lovely cappuccino! Really nice in summer where u can sit outside & enjoy a coffee or two ! Have seen a sparrow hawk in trees here on many occasions ! Lovely relaxing location !!

First time back after what looks like a refit. Looks a lot better than before. Had hot chocolate and it was lovely.

I had lunch here today with a friend. I ordered soup and a toastie. The soup was very thick and was like eating baby food. The toastie had hardly any cheese in it and it was just full of pickle. The crisps were definatley out of date (soggy). I couldn't eat the meal. Didn't like to complain as place packed and I was with a friend. I'm still left feeling unwell with the amount of pickle I had consumed!

My family and I visited last week and I was horrified at how grumpy and miserable the staff were. They made me feel like I had ruined their day by joining the queue.

Disfrutamos de hamburguesa y patatas al horno. Buen tamaño de las porciones y patatas fritas recién hecha, no congelados. Sábado por la tarde, tan ocupados, pero no tuve que esperar mucho. Personal joven hicieron bien y era agradable. Normalmente no gustarles un poco caro restaurante tipo cafetería/lugares, pero no importa hoy como la calidad y las porciones eran una buena relación calidad-precio. Mejor revisión de cualquier lugar es decir que volvería de nuevo, que lo haré.

Fuimos anteriormente por una taza de chocolate caliente y una tarta. Ambos eran muy buenos. Conseguimos algunos malvaviscos con mi chocolate caliente y había un montón! El pastel era un millonario de menta quebradiza, que era delicioso. Era tan bueno. Por desgracia, había una cola enorme, pero fue en el almuerzo. Un montón de asientos y muy bien situado. Visited the mill cafe today for lunch when it was quiet, waited around 5 minutes to be served although a member of staff noticed we were waiting, when we eventually got served staff were rude. Food was ok, a bit pricey for the quality.

First time we have eaten here. Had fish & chips and hubby had sweet and sour chicken. Both good. Great selection of food and quick service. Prices also very reasonable. Will return

Mi pareja y yo nos detuvimos para el almuerzo de hoy, el personal es encantador y muy educado, después de pedir la comida nos trajeron a la mesa bastante rápido, una gran selección de comida, zumos, té y café y pasteles! ! Gran café increíble para un bocado rápido para comer antes o después de visitar la tienda de casa! Sin duda recomiendo

After a walk round Sterling Mill we dropped in for a toasted Teacake and latte .Nice selection of cakes and sandwiches with a hot breakfast display. Really comfortable seating in a nice atmosphere ,outside seating in good weather is available

Popped into the Mill Café while shopping at Sterlings; had tea/coffee and lemon drizzle which we enjoyed. Everything appeared clean and tempting and the staff friendly.

Meet a friend here for lunch every week and the food never disappoints! Good food served promptly. Spoilt for choice even for a vegetarian. Beats any pub grub in the area. Keep it up 🙋🏻

Excelente café, y la "porción paraíso" era delicioso. Nuestra única queja fue que los avisos de información al cliente para descargar sus bandejas a los estantes de metal en los lados de la cafetería. Me siento esto lo hace más como una cantina funciona que un restaurante. La decoración interior y el mobiliario son muy agradables. Por desgracia, la música de fondo sonaba como alguien estaba siendo torturado.

OKish food served in surroundings that badly need some organisation. Lots of young staff around doing very little. Flow of food at the counter isn't great as the menu/hot food is at the end of the line & takes ages to get to. Baked potato with chicken, bacon & Mayo wasn't the best quality but filled a hole! Would rather find an alternative for food in the area when next visiting the shop.

We've not been to Stirling Mills for 2-3 years. We decided to go for a day out and have lunch at the cafe. The cafe has changed since we've been there the last time. Very modern, light and clean. The food we received was a disappointment.

Was a tad dissapointed ..to commercialised feeling for me ,when there is more "homely" cafes nearby .I suppose if your using the shopping complex then it's handy ..but I wouldn't go there just for a coffee

Metimos en aquí para el almuerzo, y me sorprendió gratamente. Hemos estado antes, pero fue ni de lejos tan buena como lo es ahora. Desde la reflexión y la peuden cambiar asientos han sido un lavado de cara, sin duda se ve mucho mejor. Ha cambiado el menú y las opciones se proporcionan en las tablas como entras y en la pared sobre los servidores. No tengo quejas sobre el servicio de comida de frente, ambos disfrutamos mucho de la comida.

Este es el lugar perfecto para relajarse y disfrutar de un bollo simple y una taza de té, o tomar una sopa sabrosa, platos principales y deliciosos dulces. La comida es todo recién cocinado y los bollos son caseras y muy bonito. (muy recomendable!) El servicio es muy bueno, ser tanto amable y eficiente, haciendo de este un lugar muy agradable para visitar.

El núcleo antiguo ha sido renovado y renombrado Cafe. Mill El nuevo diseño funciona bien, y el comedor es muy amplio, con una zona para las familias con niños pequeños, donde pueden disfrutar de su comida sin preocuparse de molesto otros comensales. También hay un microondas para su uso.

REcently redecorated, now with lower ceilings and tables and chairs. Very clean and warm looking. Food is good and staff very friendly, Just love going there,

Molino de café está ubicado dentro de la tienda. Muebles Sterling Tiene una selección razonable de comida y bebidas en la media de los precios. La comida es de buena calidad y bastante sabroso y mi única crítica es que algunos de los empleados son un poco secos. Sin embargo, si compras aquí, o en el outlet al otro lado de la calle, yo lo recomendaría para un bocado rápido para comer.

Este café restaurante ha sufrido una renovación completa y es muy bien hecho. Estábamos capturados en que comer aquí o cocinar en marcos de tiempo inicio acerca de las 5.15 pm y 4.30 - decidimos comer aquí después de ver el menú muy amplia. El personal no podría haber sido mejor todo lo que queríamos era posible y yo opté por un antiguo favorito de Mac y queso mi compañero eligió una ensalada de pollo y tocino. Los precios razonables no reflejan la generosas porciones y aunque había pocas cenas nuestra comida llegó muy rápidamente. No me decepcionó, tuberías calientes y muy sabroso mac y queso. La opción de ensalada también estaba muy bien presentada y se veía muy apetecible. Como parte de una gran tienda de muebles de jardín y por lo tanto es un gran lugar para un café rápido almuerzo o una comida.

Fuimos al café en Sterlings de MILL Tillicoultry (no confundir con Sterling Mills Outlet al otro lado de la carretera) en un viaje de autobús. Habíamos reservado con antelación para el almuerzo y ofreció un menú fijo los precios con una buena opción. La comida era excelente, servido a las mesas camareras muy atento. Sterlings tiene mucho que ofrecer, no sólo muebles. Tiene utensilios de cocina, ropa, regalos, juguetes, tarjetas de un jardín y mucho más. Si volveremos? Sin duda. Gracias de nuevo a Eileen y su personal.
