Mikes golden fish dish in Tendring

Here visiting family for the weekend & came across this fish & chip shop great friendly atmosphere the moment you walked in Menu choice perfect The only fish & chips shop in the area even does kebabs Nice size haddock ordered & cooked while you wait constant stream of customers but they are not flustered If you’re kept waiting when your order is ready an instant apology for keeping you waiting Very good value for money too. Highly recommend

We have just had fish and chips delivered to Wivenhoe from Mike's and we all agreed, the fish, battered sausages and chips were lovely ! Much better value and taste than our local fish and chip take away! The kids meals are also great value, will definitely be using again in the future either to collect or for a small fee delivered !!

I used to order food from here often, and it was always really good. However I orded food a year ago and it wasn't great, but thought I would give them another try, but it was very bad this time. The lamb donner was dry and curled up. The chicken shish was dreadful not how it's ment to be at all horrible, had to put whole lot in the bin, 3 kebab's. Won't go back again 😡

Well I was a bit hungry after hardly eating the previous day due to work commitments, so I definitely over-ordered from these guys. Ordered online and got a 90min waiting time, when it got to 15 min over I called & the lady was lovely & said the car had just left. Sure enough 5 mins later it arrived courtesy of a very friendly delivery lady. The food was gorgeous - the only issue being the portions were much more generous than I'd anticipated (the hotdog I had really fancied was gorgeous but I had to cut it in half to manage it!) - so we are probably going to eat everything that keeps tomorrow. But I would definitely recommend this place if you need a naughty food order. There may be a wait because they are busy, but it's worth it.

Mikes is an outstanding Chip shop, the food is delicious and the menu is vast. As a local Mikes Fish Dish is alway first choice for a cheeky treat, which never disappoints. *****

Best chippy within 10 miles. Great food and service. Cooked to order so well worth it if you have to wait.

At 4.30pm on a Friday when the restaurant opened I called to place an order for delivery. I was told it would be an hour and 15 min wait, I was surprised as they had only just opened for the evening. However myself and my hungry 5 year old waited for our order. After an hour and a half I called back up to find our where it was, to be met with a rude woman on the end of the phone telling me she'd told me it'd take an hour and 15 mins, so did I want to cancel my order!! No this was a treat for my daughter, I'd been waiting this long, why would I want to cancel it now. Near on 2 hrs later it turned up. When it arrived it actually tasted quite nice, although the curry sauce had not had the lid on properly and was all over our food. I won't be hurrying back here again unfortunately, which is a shame as always had good service from the guy that worked or works there.

Love this chippy - regular visitor on the weekends, does get busy at times so best to call and order food before.

The best houmous I have ever eaten & baba ganoush too. The service was good even thought it was a holiday & the restaurant was full. I canno recommend it enough & will certainly go back.

Stopped off on the way home from work with my wife She had haddock and chips and I had cod and chips She said they where the best fish and chips she had ever had I must say mine where very nice too

I’ve ordered from this chip shop a couple of times and it’s been excellent, staff are chatty and seem to be having fun. The food comes very quickly tastes fresh and is very good. My chip shop of choice at the moment.

Great fish & chip shop, so glad I discovered them. They also deliver and I live quite a few miles from them! Always arrive hot and the food is good quality. Beats any chip shop in colchester and the surrounding areas.

We had two medium cod and chips and they were huge portions. Cod so flaky and tasty, lovely light batter and super chips. Well worth going to.

This village chip shop has plenty of choice including kebabs & spicy chicken. Always friendly & really quick service. The best chippy in the area.

A great, varied choice of well cooked food and it doesn't matter how busy they are, you always get a warm, friendly welcome.
