We started in here , nice atmosphere great beers

It's nearly £7 for a bottle of cider which made me limit myself to a drink. £4 for a portion of chips aswell pretty expensive. It's not somewhere I'll be returning. Toilets are upstairs too or the ones I went to were. I have knee issues so it wasn't convenient for me unfortunately.

Very nice pub, great atmosphere and really tasty food. I had steak pie - a bit expensive but I recommend it. We had an enjoyable evening, cheers. I bet Sunday dinner would be fantastic.

The Midnight Bell has a fantastic atmosphere and is warm, friendly welcoming pub with excellent food and drink. We had starters of Nduja scotch egg, which was cooked to perfection whilst the garlic and king prawn starter was delicious. For mains we had the Swaledale sausages, Yorkshire Dales sirloin steak and Fish pie. The steak was mouth-wateringly tender, the fish pie contained generous amounts of prawns and fish and the sausages & mash really tasty. The choice of drinks was excellent for the beer and wine drinkers amongst us. The Midnight Bell never seems to disappoint, even on a cold Monday in January. Would highly recommend. We will be going back

A genuinely wonderful little pub. Pleasing atmosphere incredibly charming staff. Great beer well kept and expertly pulled. And frankly one of the finest Sunday roasts I've had in a pub. Great portions chock full of flavour and delicious season. Genuinely a wonderful meal. Will be back next time we're in the area

I’m struggling to think if I’ve ever had a Sunday roast that came anywhere near as good. Generous portions but not too much and beautifully cooked. Friendly service & good price - pretty much perfect

Ordered roast lamb, roast pork and roast beef. Overall service was friendly but at times we had to chase staff for service. Yorkshire pudding on roast beef was overcooked. Roast pork was overcooked and dry on one side.

Great service from Yaz, Carys and the team here. We had our work meal in the Snug and they were so accommodating. The food was amazing and it was such a lovely atmosphere. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area.

Food was amazing and the attention to detail of the menu was fantastic. Staff very helpful, friendly, approachable and attentive. Dessert took longer than I had hoped, but it's a minor point based on the experience as a whole. We sought advice on a quiet time and location within the pub. Bad experience elsewhere the week before.....advice received today was spot on. Lovely flavours with fresh ingredients, keep up the good work.

We recently had our Christmas Do at Midnight Bell, and it was an exceptional experience! The food was of high quality, with every dish impressing our entire team. The service was outstanding, with attentive and friendly staff who made sure we had everything we needed. Everyone left equally impressed and satisfied. Highly recommend for any group event or special occasion!

One of my favourite Leeds pubs. Good selection of beers and wines, decent food too. Great venue for a pint before watching a Leeds game.

My new local as I work around the corner. Fantastic pub, great staff, great beer (especially the self titled, Midnight Bell). Magnificent food, and I like the beet garden. Great pub, well worth the visit.

We dined here on Christmas Day, excited to have a lovely family meal out for once. We were asked upon booking what time we wanted to eat, and due to one of our party being unwell and wanting to get home to nurse them, I phoned up in advance to ask to be served slightly earlier. After several attempts getting through and being hung up on, the person on the other end, presumably the manager, picked up and said she would pass on a note to the kitchen to serve us 10 minutes sooner. We realised the guy who noted our arrival mustn't have informed the kitchen, because after nearly an hour of waiting and several drinks in, people who had arrived after us were being served whilst we still had an empty table. After asking the staff what was going on, we received feeble apologies and starters almost an hour and a half after arriving. My scallops were cold but I was too hungry to bother complaining further. We then had another patient 30+ minute wait for the mains, and just as we were about to ask to leave, the mains were plonked down in front of us. The turkey was dry on some plates, the Yorkshires were burnt and bitter, some of the veg was hard, and the plate was swimming in gravy to the point it made the roast potatoes soggy and spilled all over the table when the waiter put it down. There was luckily less of a wait for dessert but the portion of the Christmas pudding was disappointingly small. We left before coffees and chocolates were offered, with no explanation as to the poor service we received compared to everyone else, wondering what on earth we'd spent over £350 on. I understand things are difficult in hospitality right now but if you're going to work Christmas, it wouldn't hurt to be attentive and do it with some semblance of cheer. Will not be returning.

Lovely pub a little out the way but great vibe and clean.was a little early for our lunch so had a nice drink from a wide range on offer and was kept informed about our table from Joe who was extremely polite and attentative at all times.Ordered Sunday roasts which were excellent and well priced,thoroughly enjoyed. Would highly recommend for food or even just a drink.

I had high hopes for this place after reading glowing reviews and even an article naming it one of the best roasts in Leeds. Sadly, it didn’t live up to the hype. The atmosphere was nice, but as we had a dog and a buggy, it felt very cramped where we were seated. I had requested a table near the fire, which was accommodated and I was grateful for, but the fire wasn’t on, so it didn’t create the cozy vibe I was hoping for. There was Christmas music playing which was nice but it was very loud, another table complained as you couldn’t hear the person accros the table talking. Our waiter did get barked at by our sausage dog, which I understand might have been awkward, but even before that, he didn’t come across as particularly friendly or welcoming. When the food arrived, all four roast dinners were cold. One of our group was so hungry they just ate it cold, but the rest of us had to wait half an hour for the three plates to be redone. This completely ruined the group mockmas meal we had planned and we’d all come a long way. The roasts themselves were just okay. The roast potatoes? They shouldn’t even be called that. They were basically crispy new potatoes. Yorkshire pudding was good and the way it was served looked great. The veg when hot was also nice. The toilets were filthy, especially the disabled one for baby changing. Overall, we won’t be going back. Such a letdown after all the positive reviews. I will add that the waitress knocked of 15% however whilst the gesture was appreciated we didn’t feel that was enough given the experience.

Previously had really lovely meal here but this time was OK. Waited ages for food and then rushed out as they said they needed the table for next booking!

Had Sunday roast there last week - couldn't fault it. The food was delicious, the staff were friendly and there was a lovely, festive atmosphere. We had a baby with us and they were happy to provide a high chair and an accessible table.

Positioned perfectly for a family meet up and lovely warm homely atmosphere. We had Sunday lunch which looked amazing but some choices of meat were a bit disappointingly dry. The cauliflower cheese extra side was good. Needed to order stuffing at £6 if we wanted it which I thought was standard and there were no sauces offered. Waiting staff were functional and although busy could have been a little more personal and attentive in general. Overall we had a good experience but some attention to details left us feeling it was ok but missed out on being a firm favourite for a repeat regular meet up for us.

From arriving at the midnight Bell to our departure, the service was excellent. The atmosphere, beer & food were also excellent, even on a busy Friday night. A very nice birthday meal!

This is the single best Sunday roast I have ever had, 100% recommend it. Good price, great portion, delicious food! Better than any other roast place I’ve been to.

I strongly recommend this pub, everything about it is superb. Never had a bad meal and a good choice of alcoholic beverages. This is definitely my pre match go to for a nice catch up with my cousins and friends when visiting Leeds. Here’s to my next visit.

First visit (driven past many times & kept saying 'Must try there!) & not disappointed. Booked a table (recommended, it was busy) for Sunday Lunch; very pleasant welcome and nice atmosphere. Food when it came (Roast Beef, Roast Pork, Steak & Ale Pie) was delicious, but it was a bit slow, probably due to being so busy, hence the mark down on that aspect. Not to detract from the staff though, they were super. Return visit definitely on the cards. Thanks all.

Great Sunday lunch. Definitely will come back. Was asked 6 times in the space of ten minutes if we were ready to order which is a bit too much.

Booked for Sunday lunch. First time we'd been out for lunch for a while. I had an enormous piece of pork with some beautiful crackling. I always judge food on the basis of how good their roast potatoes are...and these were crispy and crunchy. My partner's nut roast was also an enormous portion that she just managed to finish. But she said it was really tasty. She had a pint of Midnight Bell and I had an alcohol free lager. All together a lovely Sunday lunch.

Booked the ‘Snug’ for a casual meeting of a group of friends with a buffet supper. All easy to organise & Yaz very helpful. We opted for the pie supper for everyone ( vegan option available). Food was very good & plentiful. Staff very friendly & helpful on the night. Good choice of beers ( including alcohol free beers 👍). Busy & good atmosphere.All in all a great group venue. Thank you

Visited on a busy Friday night with friends and as usual the food and service was excellent. Even though the pub was busy with pre football diners and drinkers the Midnight team really looked after us. My spicy veg pie with roasted veg was first class. The Midnight always has a buzz about the place and feels like a country pub in the city. We loved the place.

Great Food today at the Midnight Bell. Tryed there new winter menu. Had Prawns Garlic with Chorizo for starters was perfect balance of flavours. Then the Duck was also perfect. My partner had Gruyere starter and pork sunday lunch. Pork was cooked perfect. Crackling was also perfect. In general the Chefs did a superb job there skill and good produce made this a lovely afternoon. Staff and atmosphere were brilliant. A great Afternoon. Loved everything and everyone. Thank You All.

Have been here plenty of times for drinks but for the first time for food this week. There was plenty of variety on the menu, the food was outstanding, the service was welcoming and attentive and the atmosphere was warm, cosy and chilled. Will 100% be returning for another meal!

Roast chicken was rubbery and one was so rubbery, a knife struggled to cut it. I had pie and chips, the chips were "technically" cooked, but not particularly enjoyable, most of them left. Ordered poached pineapple, got sticky toffee pudding.

We hosted a reception for our daughter's naming ceremony at Midnight Bell and had a fantastic experience. We coordinated with Yaz who was easy to communicate with over email and very helpful on the day. We even dropped off some decorations the day beforehand and she dressed the room beautifully. We had about 40 guests. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. Service at the bar was great and guests enjoyed the outdoor courtyard area as well. Really pleased we chose Midnight Bell for this occasion and we'll continue to come as regular guests!

Midnight Bell was the perfect venue to host my works party celebrating 25 years service. I opted for the BBQ menu. Food came out on time and there was plenty of it. Yaz was brilliant at keeping me updated in the weeks leading up to the event. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening and bar staff were polite. Thanks for making my event a success.

Fabulous pub. Great food and ales. Unbelievable service from Alex and Joe. Looked after us so well after our accommodation for the night turned out to be a scam. Helped us look for an hotel. Made sure we got our meal even though we were a bit late arriving. What a pair of friendly chaps. If Alex is not the manager then he should be.

we hold our annual work summer BBQ at the Midnight Bell every year. The section off half of the outdoor tables and just in case it rains we have the function room upstairs. The staff are friendly and helpful, there is an outdoor speaker you can bluetooth your chosen music to and the food is great. Thank you, we look forward to doing it all again next year!

Usually come for a drink, thought we would try Sunday lunch, the food did look good what we saw coming out of the kitchen. Tbh little disappointed with the gravy and the potato's and pork/crackling. The gravy was a bit tasteless and watery and the crackling was not great. I tried my partners beef and there's was really tasty. And my yorkshire pudding was great. We got over charged on the first round of drinks and when we asked was told the price was right so we said it can't be due to having a black currant and soda. The bar man checked again and then agreed it was wrong. I would go back again to give it another try, just hope next time the pork and gravy and potatoes are better.

Our waitress Hannah was so lovely, she made our experience a 10/10 with her bright smile and great sense of humour! P.S. My daughters loved her tattoo!

This pub is perfect for a lunch on a work day, hidden to side you get any random walking in, it’s just a beautiful peaceful place to grab food. They offer a variety of foods, and also have options for dietary requirements too!!

Had a fantastic Sunday dinner. Not rushed, staff were very hospitable and the food was outstanding. A very good selection of hand pulled ales along with traditional cask ales, ciders and lagers. Thankyou so much, will definitely attend again.

All Leeds brewery pubs are nice, and you are guaranteed a good pint of cask ale. The midnight bell is no different.

Lovely outside space and fun vibe

I booked this venue for our work summer social and it did not disappoint! Yaz helped me coordinate everything and was really helpful in catering to our needs. We had the snug area reserved for food and a space in the courtyard. It was perfect! We went for the BBQ which was delicious and had a great selection. Yaz helped adapt the menu for vegans / vegetarians and it worked out really well. We were a group of 30 and there was also a group of 120 sharing the courtyard. It was such a lovely vibe, everyone was friendly and sociable. Alex and Freya who worked at the bar were also amazing! Absolutely great evening - thanks to the whole team. We will definitely be booking in again xxx

Beware of the Manageress who likes to take phones off the table and put them in her back pocket! I visited today with my partner, brother, kids and the family dog for lunch. The Manageress greeted us with a sour face, so the atmosphere was already questionable. Whilst waiting for our food to arrive, I took a photo of my children and placed my phone on the table where my partner and brother were sat. I then took our family dog for a quick 2 minute walk outside. Upon my return, my brother asked me if I had my phone on me. I said no, told him I had left it on the table right in front of him. He then went on to explain how the manageress had come over with plates in both hands using serviettes to protect her hands from the hot plates. As she placed them down, she used said serviettes to disguise picking up the phone. He said he didn't think anything of it as perhaps it was her own phone she had placed down with the plates. This didn't sit right with me so I asked if one of the children might have taken it. After confirming that they hadn't, the manageress arrived with the rest of our food. I asked her if she had taken a phone off the table to which she very quickly and very defensively said no. My partner then rang my phone and she pulled it out of her back pocket apologising and saying that it was a mistake. She seemed very guilty indeed as she then was nowhere to be seen for the next 10 minutes. After I enquired with another member of staff about who the manager is, you can imagine the shock on all of our faces when he said it was the same member of staff who had taken my phone! I understand the table was small, the surface to place the food was limited, and perhaps it might have been a mistake. However, on second thought, why would she place her phone on the customer's table and then think it was hers to pick back up and place it in her pocket? She seemed very sheepish as she returned my phone to me, like a child cought in mischief. The disguise with the tissues really didn't seem coincidental and her explaining that she isn't a thief definitely raised suspicion that perhaps she had tried this act before and had been caught yet again... I will not be returning! And if you decide to visit, keep your phones and belongings with you at all times even if people are sat at your table.

I booked the midnight bell for my engagement party, it was easy to book the private function room. We also paid for a bbq buffet for 25 people and there was more than enough food…especially the coleslaw ha plenty of that provided! Well caterer for my vegan and veggie friends as well! You have access to a Bluetooth speaker so can play whatever we music you want. would highly recommend for a private event.

Nice place in a trendy area. The buffet that was laid on was lovely. The staff keep fit climbing up and down stairs with the food.

Book a table.... We did thank goodness. Very busy. 2024 - again busy on weekends and during Euros. A great beer selection, good food.

A good pub for beer, the food was reasonable but service, warmth and attention to detail were sadly lacking throughout amongst all staff encountered. We visited as a group of 6. We’d made a booking, but the restaurant had lost our booking and the way this was resolved was not particularly warm, and almost accusatory as if we had made a mistake. On producing the email booking, two tables were pushed together and prepared pretty quickly and an apology was eventually forthcoming, but it certainly wasn’t a great first impression. I understand that things can go and do go wrong, it was more the reaction and the way it was handled that was a little cold and off-putting. We were then seated at a table, but there was no communication as to whether we ordered at the bar or someone would take our order at the table, which would have been useful. When the mains came, 5 arrived relatively close together but 1 got lost somewhere so took another 5-7 minutes to arrive, which is quite a long time. The communication around this was poor, we weren’t sure whether the staff were aware of the situation or not and nobody came to the table to check on us, offer condiments, more drinks (which we would have had, so sales missed) or anything at this time. As I was about to go up to the bar, the food did then appear and there was an apology. The food across the table did all look very good and was enjoyed. 4 of us then opted for dessert, with 3 of us choosing the cheeseboard. A few minutes later, 4 spoons and napkins were delivered to the table, which is clearly not the correct cutlery for a cheeseboard. Then the cheeseboards came, and still no knives, so we then had to ask for those. Advertised with the cheeseboard was butter as the obvious accompaniment for crackers, but again this was missing from all 3 plates. The general feeling was that while the individual cheeses were pleasant, the cheeseboard was poor value for money at £11.50. So in short, this is a good pub for drinks but the food is charged at a premium price, which the service doesn’t match, with many basic errors and a general lack of communication, a coldness and a feeling that the staff aren’t overly concerned with your custom. There are many more restaurants in Leeds that are much better places to go.

1st visit to The Midnight Bell today, and definitely won’t be our last! Absolutely beautiful Sunday Lunch, lovely surroundings and wonderfully friendly staff! Thank you so much……will be back very soon 😊

Thank you for hosting my friends 40th birthday party on Saturday night. The upstairs room was perfect with access straight to the courtyard which we were bale to spend some time in out of the rain The room was set up ready for us to decorate and the staff very amenable for our decorations and gave us free reign to make the space special for our party. The food was delicious (we had the BBQ buffet) and came out hot and all together, the coleslaw was delicious! Thank you again, we would absolutely recommend the space for other events (and I cant wait to come back for sunday lunch)!

We booked the courtyard for the second year on the trot for a work event. Although the weather did us no favours, we still had a great time. The location is great as are the staff. The previous year we had taken the BBQ option this year we all went for meals off the menu. Ordered a week in advance all the food came out for the group of twenty odd or so people at the same time. All piping hot and good size portions and good quality. Will probably be going for the third visit before too long.

Food was as good as always. Very organised and good environment. All I will say, if I was nit picking, the chips were a bit thick and undercooked.

Visited today with my partner and we was over the moon with the service we received. Food was absolutely stunning as we were looking for something fresh and homemade so shout out to the chefs. Also big shout to Alex who couldn't do enough for us, really pleasant and we will 100% be back thanks to Alex 😊

I had a 10 oz rump steak, it was fantastic, medium rare, when cut into it, there was no blood. I like my steak, but very rare to find a piece of steak when cut into it with no blood

We were so excited for our meal celebrating my brothers birthday! There was 8 of us, after an hour of ordering, there was still no food! Unbelievably disappointed!

Again, fantastic food at the midnight belle, love the pub and the outside seating area. The seabass was superb along with the haddock. The service wasn't as good as normal. 3 members of staff entered the area where we were sat but did not clear our plates. We had to ask to order our desserts, when they arrived , there was a mix-up with the orders, the sticky toffee was re-ordered , then another one arrived aswell. Not the usual service previously received.

We had our eldest daughter’s wedding there. So we always love midnight Bell!! On Sunday 10 of us had a meal out together. Great food fabulous pub. Brilliant service from staff. Great wine/beer choices.

Too much horse radish and cold steak

As always, a great afternoon was had by all. Lovely pie & Mash. The staff are very friendly and service was spot on. We always have few beers here on match days.

Visited Midnight Belll for Mother’s Day Sunday lunch and had a lovely time. The atmosphere was perfect, food delicious and service spot on. We were welcomed with Prosecco and looked after throughout. Would definitely go again.

If you like good food and a great choice of ales in a oldy worldy type establishment then this will be right up your street. Always plenty staff to attend to customers ...friendly and helpful. We have never had a bad meal ...Mother's Day was no exception with a little glass of prosecco thrown in for good measure. It's one we always return to!

We had the Sunday roast dinner and it was excellent. The beef was cooked to perfection, the Yorkshire pudding was light and crispy, and everything else on the plate was delicious. We cleared our plates then shared dessert!

Great for a tasty lunch with a varied choice of options. Haddock goujon sandwich is a winner!

Portions were very large, and mains arrived quickly, despite the restaurant being very busy. Batter on the fish was crispy, and the right amount of thickness. Puddings took a little while to arrive, but were great when they did- I especially liked the ginger ice cream! Only complaint was, it was a bit noisy, but guess this is to be expected on a Saturday night. Would probably come again, but at a slightly quieter time
