Bar staff were very rude. Rushed us into finishing our drinks so they could remove us from outside to set up for an event. One of the barmaids did nothing but complain about working to everyone, in full earshot of the punters. It's a shame, it's my first ever visit here and I've always looked forward to trying it. But a disappointed experience means I'll probably never return

The definition of old school watering hole. On a Monday afternoon it was pretty quiet. Music was good but the clientele was a bit sad. The side of the drinking you don’t wanna end up on. Regardless, clearly a live music venue with a stellar draft/cask list to boot. The usual suspects plus many more. The first time I’ve ever seen Golden Best on cask and for £4.30 I immediately said fire it up! Overall in a great area of town being near the touristy markets of the Corn Exchange and Kirkgate. Can’t go wrong here. A legendary pub for a reason.

The Duck and Drake is one of the must go to pubs in Leeds as it has everything a beer drinker wants. The beer is always on top form and there is quite a lot to choose from. I had the two wilde child cask ales, and i can honestly say the gimme s'more was one of the best pints I've ever had, we went to Wilde child the following day and it was on there and the D&D was much better. I used to use this place a lot a few years ago, and wrote a complimentary review in 2015. However much has clearly changed. Pricing used to be low-end, now it's upper end, which I suppose may be due to things out of their control. However, the staff attitude on the midweek lunchtime we visited was appalling. The chap clearly didn't want to be there, treated customers with contempt, and had an expression on him as though he had just suffered a bereavement. When I asked for a pint to be topped up as the head was over an inch he actually became rude and defensive. We won't be troubling them again.

We like the Duck and Drake as a pub, so we came to dinner with friends. The reservation was for 7pm and we were looking forward to some good honest pub food. It took a while to get a drinks order delivered, simply because it was busy, that's understandable. What blew us away was the really slow service in our food. As far as we could see, there was only one person taking orders and she seemed to be under pressure. Four of the items on the main menu had sold out, so that was a bit disappointing but once we ordered our food we sat back and waited. For a full hour. No explanation, no apology, nothing. Not a scooby. I don't need to expand on how we were hungry, fed up and disappointed . I will say that we left. It was shabby. We won't bother going again. There's no excuse for any of what happened. It's a well established and professional pub so there is no excuse for just how it all went wrong. One other thing. There were dogs everywhere. On laps, at tables and under tables, I think they were better cared for than we. Rubbish!!!

Great classic pub that truly supports the live music industry. If you ever get the opportunity to go see a live band here it is truly worth it, they are one of the few venues left in Leeds providing a real breeding ground for live music. The staff are also fantastic and do a great job of keeping everyone served, even when it's rammed. The owner Rob is also a great guy and really looks after everyone (customers and staff). My only quibble with the place is the price they charge for spirit mixers. When it comes to beers they have a great selection (including non alcoholics) and they are very reasonably priced, but a double (house) rum + coke costs me the best part of £9. I kind of get their thinking, but unfortunately I'm allergic to beer and would love to support this pub a lot more than I already do, but I just can't justify that sort of money on the regular when I could (for example) get a cocktail in one of the UKs Top 50 cocktail bars nearby for about a quid more. I know it's a bit of a personal gripe, but hopefully one they can sort out by adding a spirit mixer deal or two in the future just so I can justify coming down and supporting the bar a bit more. P.s. if you visit, please bring a bit of cash (£5 - £10 would be ideal if you enjoy them, but a couple of quid is fine if you didn't) and always put money in the bucket to support the bands. They are playing for basically nothing and I've never seen a bad band here, they deserve a bit of your spare change to help them keep going.

First visit (driven past many times & kept saying 'Must try there!) & not disappointed. Booked a table (recommended, it was busy) for Sunday Lunch; very pleasant welcome and nice atmosphere. Food when it came (Roast Beef, Roast Pork, Steak & Ale Pie) was delicious, but it was a bit slow, probably due to being so busy, hence the mark down on that aspect. Not to detract from the staff though, they were super. Return visit definitely on the cards. Thanks all.
