Mashallah, what a hidden gem! I was so pleased to discover this place recently after living in Cambridgeshire for nearly 3 years I was giving up and losing hope when it came to finding reliable, good quality halal produce! I was at my wits end ordering online with places like Saffron Alley for double the price and a lesser quality. There are other establishments in the area but there’s no comparison as I had been so used to the variety in London and having choice in abundance… It’s refreshing to finally find a halal butchers offering premium cuts of meat that doesn’t lack in quality or taste! The meats are delivered fresh daily aside from Sunday, all sorts of cuts for both lamb and beef can be ordered in advance if not available on the day. The prices are affordable considering the quality and cuts and doesn’t compromise the taste. I ordered a variety of meats and cuts… let’s start with the chicken breast, I have never had a butcher willingly clean and trim fat off then weigh it, it was the same with the beef and lamb! Usually you pay for the excess and then they trim it! Going back to the chicken both the breast and whole pieces were fresh and didn’t have that foul smell which you unfortunately so often get with halal chicken. I opted for marinated chicken leg pieces in their own spices made fresh whilst you wait, this was absolutely gorgeous when baked in the oven, can’t wait to try the other marinades over the course of the summer for my bbq’s!! The lamb was fresh and succulent, not gamey at all. I’ve yet to try the beef, I’m about to cook it this evening but I’m sure it will not disappoint as when cutting it for preparation it’s not tough or overly fatty with excess silverside. I opted for a whole chuck piece and topside mince which is prepped fresh whilst you wait. They also offer T-bone, Sirloin and various other cuts which is a welcome surprise! Butchers aside they also offer fresh good quality vegetables, herbs etc. The selection of sausages and cold meats are also great as well as frozen foods. I managed to find Frozen breast chicken nuggets rather than the awful minced kind (although they do sell that aswell). Frozen Kibbehs, boreks, koftes and more are also available. They have every grain, pulse and nut etc you can think of too! Halal marshmallows, gummy sweets and a fresh counter offering homemade baklava, savoury pastries including my favourite spinach and cheese! Again, all for an acceptable price considering the quality. Around the area and on the market stalls in the town centre they offer the same/similar pastries for triple the price and a lesser quality with much less filling inside! All the above coupled with such a kind, inviting and warm welcome you’re sure to return! All staff were polite, courteous and extremely helpful! They take your shopping to the car, help you find what you’re looking for and patiently prepare your meats with such loving care. It seems to be a family established business which is comforting to see as that’s quite rare nowadays. They also have staff that are treated respectfully like family as we observed the elderly gentleman handing out money to staff for Eid which really warmed my heart as it made me emotionally nostalgic with memories of my own father. His daughter was an absolute pleasure to speak with also. I could endlessly type about my positive experience of Midan and how pleasantly surprised I was with my experience from start to finish. May Allah bless them with all that they do as they genuinely care about their customers and what they offer.

Absolutely wicked shop. Always mega friendly service and an awesome selection! Lovely coffee machine as well, perfect if you work in town and want to skip costa queues (and rubbish coffee!) on your way in.

Since the old days as Nasreen Dar right up to the present as Midan, this has been a favourite place to shop. The staff are courteous, helpful, cheerful and the products are really good and varied. You can find any kind of food you want and the atmosphere is pleasant. Opening hours convenient too. Well worth visiting

Great family run place, kind people, halal meat counter in back, lots of great Middle Eastern and South Asian canned and jarred food, spices, frozen home made meals, fresh pastries, drinks. Fun browsing for new tastes, too!

The man at the counter was rude and discourteous. He seems to think that customer should consider themselves lucky to be served. Samosas were terrible the meat in them was probably rotten, never going there again.

Helpful pleasant family concern, very attentive to the customers, large stock with an emphasis on eastern products. Dairy items, fruit and veg, bakery, serves coffee, fair prices.

This used to be called Nasreen Dar. It is full of an excellent range of Eastern goodies. Spices and rice range second to none. Sauces to make your mouth water before use. Simply wonderful. Too, they have seating outside, and offer a range of teas and coffees, plus bread, pastries. For those who eat meat, it is Halal. There are also frozen curries and much more. The one downside is that their vegetable and fruit produce is sometimes tired looking.

Cambridge's premier pizza pub! Definitely better than your average pub pizza at food prices.

I like this hotel and always choose to stay here when I can afford it when I am in Cambridge for business. The location is ideal for walking to places in the old part of Cambridge, and there are e-scooters and e-bikes for rental just across the road which make it easy to explore further afield. The start are very polite. My room was large with a comfortable bed; however the air conditioning was noisy and ineffective and it was difficult to get the room at a comfortable temperature, and the hot water wasn’t quite hot enough for a bath. The room rate has become rather expensive (nearly £200 for 1 person B&B plus £28 per night for parking) and at these prices I would expect a flawless luxury room. They really need to consider replacing the aging a/c units. Restaurant is expensive. Breakfast is quite good.

The food is exquisite and the amazing service made the experience exceedingly great, and during the time that we were waiting for out food the lady of the restaurant gave us teas and was extremely friendly! Many thanks for the spring rolls

I've visited this restaurant a few times in the past but unfortunately have stopped since one of our party got food poisoning - we suspect from the oysters - after eating here. We e-mailed the restaurant about this incident as a precaution but received no reply or acknowledgment. A shame since the food and ambience has otherwise been pleasant.

Really lovely little cafe. Treated myself to their lovely porridge and a pot of tea. Lovely way to start the day. I’ll come again next time I’m in Cambridge
