Michel Angelo's in County Durham

We booked our stay on line. Didn’t read much about it, just checked it was all on one level. Wish we could have stayed longer than one night! Out 2 rooms were lovely and clean, warm and welcoming. Reception explained everything clearly to us. Our only criticism was the bed was very low. Comfortable but low down. If we had stayed longer I would have asked to change room. Breakfast was amazing, everything you could ask for and more. All that we had was of good quality. We will definitely be back! Thank you for a lovely stay.

The rooms are drab and dull. No toiletries. The room had wooden floor and only 1 tea bag between 2. The place needs a special touch. Not worth the £80 we paid and there were 4 couples, all disappointed. The breakfast wasn't up to much and we had to eat it in the pizza restaurant which was dark. Great for an evening meal but not so nice for an early morning brecky ! However, the staff were very friendly and the girl serving was really chatty, one of the assets to the place. Come on guys, drop your prices until a refurb takes place.

La comida era muy, muy buena, y no podía ser criticada, sin embargo el personal eran miserables, desagradable y totalmente poco. Comenzamos con la fiesta de carne calamares seguido por Pizza acompañada con una ensalada griega. Por lo que pagamos (40 libras) para nosotros, esta excelente relación calidad-precio. representados Sin embargo, no es todo acerca de la comida en una cena, por desgracia, el personal del restaurante.

He estado varias veces a este restaurante. Buena comida, personal amable y servicial y amable. Happy hour menú bueno pero probar algo en el menú principal y quedará gratamente sorprendido. Lubina estaba delicioso! También disfrutamos de varios asado los domingos.

My wife and I came across the restaurant by accident on a recent trip to the area and much to our pleasant surprise had a wonderful evening meal, great food and friendly staff, will definitely be back.

Not happy with Michelangelo's at ryton. Very cramped food not good at all ordered pate the bread that came with ir was so hard it was inedible the carbanarra had no sauce and had so much pepper in it I couldn't eat it. My meal was one if four that was sent back. They missed meals out then brought out wrong food. .......... Total sham never again

Good food, decent prices especially at happy hour but on both visits the manager is very annoying, abrupt and thinks he has a sense of humour but he's not funny at all, he's just a bit rude. I would go again if he wasn't there but otherwise I wouldn't bother because the food is not so go good that it compensates for the annoyance of the manager!

Situated on the approach to Ryton from Blaydon the meals are more than satisfying and cater for a wide variety of tastes.I believe the accommodation is excellent too but living in Ryton I have'nt needed to try it.

Great place, lovely food, but unfortunately can be hitty missy, but don't let it stop you visiting, sometimes the food is better than awesome & other times it is still nice, but on a comparison on how it can be you just notice it more. Staff & owners are lovely. Happy hour is really good value, surroundings nice too.

We've been over as a group of colleagues and it's always been decent. But it seems to have stepped up a notch, great job! Pizza was excellent, service was good and prices are fair. Will be returning with my partner.

Michelangelo's is a bustling restaurant which is popular with locals and therefore has a lively, informal atmosphere. The staff are friendly and attentive. The food is great. It's not haute cuisine, but it doesn't pretend to be that either. Rather, it has a real authentic, home cooked Italian style and is really tasty and, for the price, it is excellent value. The pizzas are super but the meat and fish dishes are equally good. Be sure to book as it can get quite busy.

I was staying next door in the Hedgewood Hotel for business and just wanted someone near and quick to eat. I was hesitant about an Italian in a location like this and also with no other reviews on tripadvisor, but was pleasantly surprised. I had the prawn and garlic for starters. The garlic sauce was light and tasty, the prawns juicy and fresh, and came with a little rice and a whole piece of lemon for flavouring. I had the chicken, and creamy tomato pasta for main, it was great. Not too salty which is normally what you find in below average Italian places. It tasted homemade, was heated through in an oven as it was more of a pasta bake but really I have been to Italy a couple of times and if I got that meal I would be happy, not wowed but content. Service was quick and pleasant, the restaurant itself is not very italian, kind of a hybrid between British, Spanish and Italian but clean and nice enough. I will go back if I am in business in Newcastle again.
